Chapter 135: Buying a House
He wanted this room so badly!
Yet on second thought, Jiang Jue was the squad leader; shouldn’t the finest room naturally go to him?
Back when conditions were harsh on the road, squeezing into a single room or even sharing a bed was no big deal. But now that they were buying such an expansive estate, it seemed only right for each of them to have his own private suite. Chu Yang felt a brief tug-of-war inside—he was genuinely reluctant to part with this incredible penthouse, but he felt he ought to step aside for Jiang Jue.
Just then, Jiang Jue stepped up beside him. Tilting his head slightly, he gazed down with dark, focused eyes, his deep voice carrying clearly to Chu Yang’s ear: “Yangyang, let’s take this room, alright?”
“Huh?” Chu Yang blinked in surprise, asking instinctively, “Brother Jiang, are we… still sharing a room?” He had assumed Jiang Jue would prefer having this massive master suite all to himself.
Jiang Jue’s expression shifted slightly, his eyes darkening for a fraction of a second, though his voice remained perfectly level. “Does Yangyang not want to share a room with me?”
“No! Not at all!” Chu Yang waved his hands frantically. Realizing Jiang Jue had taken it the wrong way, he quickly stammered an explanation: “I just thought… this room is so incredible, how spacious and comfortable it would be if you had it all to yourself, Brother Jiang… Ahem, sharing is great! Really great!”
He rationalized it to himself: they were already used to living together anyway. Jiang Jue was clean, had great sleeping habits, and never snored. Aside from his habit of holding him a little too tightly while asleep, there were zero downsides. As long as Jiang Jue didn’t mind that Chu Yang occasionally kicked off the blankets, what was there to complain about?
With that thought, any lingering hesitation vanished, instantly replaced by pure excitement.
Realizing that this magnificent suite would now belong to him and Brother Jiang, Chu Yang couldn’t suppress a delighted grin. Darting across the floor, he threw himself onto the massive, plush bed in the center of the room to test its springiness. Sitting up with a broad smile, he marveled, “Wow! This mattress is incredible! It feels even more comfortable than the ones I collected before. The previous owner really knew how to live in luxury!”
He had originally planned to pull out the premium mattress stored in his spatial dimension, but that seemed entirely unnecessary now. He could keep that one in reserve for future long-distance missions.
Catching each other’s eyes, Chu Yang and Jiang Jue shared a knowing smile, finalizing the decision right then and there.
Chu Yang turned toward Xiao Chen and Little Zhang, who were struggling to contain their mounting excitement, and announced loudly, “Alright, these two properties are perfect. We’ll take them both!”
From that point on, the transaction progressed with remarkable speed. Xiao Chen calculated the combined asking price for both estates.
Chu Yang replied, “We don’t carry that many raw crystal cores on hand, so we’ll need to settle the cost with equivalent survival supplies. Is that acceptable?”
“Absolutely acceptable!” Xiao Chen answered without missing a beat. “Settling with hard goods is fully permitted under base policy. It’s just that… the volume required to match this amount will be quite substantial. I wonder how you…” He trailed off, watching Chu Yang closely with keen anticipation and curiosity, clearly guessing how the payment would be made.
With a slight focus of his mind, Chu Yang accessed his spatial inventory and waved his hand gently. Instantly, neat stacks of goods materialized out of thin air across the open living room floor—vacuum-sealed cuts of fresh meat, frozen seafood, premium rice, grade-one flour, cooking oils, and assorted canned provisions, all impeccably preserved and of top-tier quality.
Xiao Chen’s eyes went wide with awe. “I had no idea you were a Spatial Ability User, sir!” His voice shook with genuine respect. “That makes things so much simpler! The Trading Center has a dedicated logistics team for bulk transfers, complete with in-house spatial operators to assist. I’ll call them in right away!” Pulling out a specialized walkie-talkie, he stepped aside and spoke in rapid, hushed tones.
A short while later, a base logistics transport arrived outside. Two uniformed officers with sharp, capable demeanors stepped out—one of them carrying the distinct, subtle aura of a Spatial User. They were accompanied by two official appraisers carrying clipboards and testing kits.
The lead appraiser, a middle-aged man with spectacles, stepped forward with professional formality. “Greetings. We are from the Logistics Handover Division of the Base Trading Center. Are you the parties executing the property exchange through material goods?”
Jiang Jue nodded calmly. “Yes. For both villas.”
Pushing his glasses up his nose, the appraiser maintained a meticulous tone: “Under base regulations, we must conduct an on-site inventory, quality appraisal, and valuation of the supplies against the property price point. Are these items before us the entirety of the trade?”
Pointing to the categorized crates on the floor, Chu Yang answered evenly, “These are merely samples. I will bring out the full inventory in batches.”
Hearing that, the base’s spatial operator exchanged an astonished glance with the appraiser before turning politely to Chu Yang: “Understood. We will assist with storage on our end. Please release the goods in organized lots, and we will log and store them simultaneously.”
Under the strict inspection and documentation of the appraisal team, Chu Yang began releasing provisions by category. The appraisers moved briskly, verifying seals and logging weights as they called out entries: “Polished white rice, 50kg sacks, twenty units… Grade-one wheat flour, 25kg sacks, fifteen units… Frozen pork, 30kg cartons, thirty units… Canned braised beef, standard crates…”
The sheer volume of high-grade food was staggering, yet the transfer remained smooth and orderly. The base’s spatial personnel methodically absorbed each inspected lot into their own storage dimensions.
The entire process proceeded with quiet, seamless efficiency, broken only by necessary technical confirmations and the soft rustle of shifting crates. Standing to the side, Xiao Chen and Little Zhang watched with open jaws. Though they fought to maintain professional composure, the shock and sheer envy in their eyes were impossible to hide.
Having worked at the Trading Center for years, they had seen their share of wealthy figures, but encountering a Spatial User who could produce such a massive stockpile of pristine, unblemished food was extraordinarily rare.
Once the final crate was logged, the chief appraiser double-checked the ledger, retrieved an official Certificate of Material Value from his briefcase, signed it, and applied the crimson seal of the Trading Center.
“Handover complete. The total appraised value matches the combined purchase price of both properties. Here is your official receipt.” The appraiser handed the certified document to Jiang Jue. “Please keep this safe. You may present this at the central administration office at any time for registry verification.”
Throughout the entire process, Xiao Chen and Little Zhang remained attentive and deeply respectful. Once the paperwork cleared, Xiao Chen carefully presented the keys and property deeds to Chu Yang and Jiang Jue with both hands.
“Congratulations to you all! As of this moment, both villas officially belong to your team. Here are the keys and deed registrations; please keep them secure. If you require any interior repairs or have further questions down the line, feel free to find me at the Trading Center at any time!” Xiao Chen beamed with genuine delight, while Little Zhang offered enthusiastic congratulations alongside him.
