Daily Life of Being Turned Gay by the Male Lead After Transmigrating into an Apocalypse – CH104

Steamed Buns

Chapter 104: Steamed Buns

Lin Xiao froze completely, the towel in his hand nearly slipping from his numb fingers onto the bed.

Almost instantly, he became acutely aware of the undeniable, rapid change in his body—his loose sweatpants did nothing to hide the prominent, embarrassing outline.

Fuck!

He cursed violently in his head as heat rushed to his face with a fiery vengeance, turning his cheeks, ears, and neck a blistering red.

How could this happen?

He wasn’t like the boss… He clearly liked girls with soft curves! He was completely straight!

It had to be because of the relentless pressure and high-strung tension of the past few days. On top of that, he had nearly burned through all his nervous energy worrying about Little Bai. Now that the danger had passed and he had finally relaxed, his body was just… having a purely involuntary physiological reaction!

Yes, that had to be it!

It had just been too long since he had any release. It was completely normal—totally natural… Lin Xiao’s mind spun into utter chaos as he frantically grasped at any excuse he could conjure. He didn’t dare look at Su Mubai again, terrified that the other man might notice his mortifying condition. This was beyond humiliating!

He shot straight up from the bed, his abrupt movement so frantic that he almost knocked over the chair. Thrusting the damp towel clumsily into Su Mubai’s hands, he spoke in a strained, rushed tone: “Uh, right… you can finish wiping your back yourself! You can reach it now, right?”

“I-I just remembered I have something urgent to take care of! Hurry up, change into dry clothes, and get some sleep!”

Without waiting for an answer, he practically marched toward the door with stiff, awkward strides, not daring to glance back. He yanked the door open, slipped through, and shut it swiftly behind him—moving as if a horde of zombies was snapping at his heels.

Su Mubai was left completely baffled by the sudden, frantic exit. Holding the damp towel, he stared at the closed door and blinked, his mind full of confusion.

What was his problem? Why such an extreme reaction out of nowhere?

Su Mubai hadn’t noticed anything unusual about Lin Xiao’s body. Between the dim lighting and Lin Xiao’s quick maneuvering, the reaction had stayed well hidden. He simply assumed that Lin Xiao was uncomfortable playing caretaker and had grown restless.

Still, the parts of his skin that had been wiped down felt refreshingly clean and cool.

Too exhausted to dwell on Lin Xiao’s strange behavior, Su Mubai felt both physical and mental fatigue weighing heavily on him after his superpower awakening. Forcing himself to stay awake just a little longer, he gave his back a quick wipe with the towel, changed into dry pajamas, tossed the damp clothes into the corner, and climbed back into bed.

Wrapped in clean, dry fabric, a soothing sense of comfort washed over him, completely easing his frayed nerves. His eyelids grew impossibly heavy, and before long, he sank into a deep, dreamless sleep.

Meanwhile, out in the dim shadows of the hallway, Lin Xiao leaned back against the wall. It took a long time for his racing heart to slow and the burning heat on his face to fade.

Looking down at the stubborn tent in his pants, he dragged a hand through his hair in pure frustration and muttered a low curse through gritted teeth. “What the actual fuck…”

Then, turning on his heel, he practically fled toward the bathroom down the hall.

The morning sun beamed through the window, casting a bright, glaring light across the bedroom.

Chu Yang felt none of its warmth; instead, a wave of dry, stifling heat rose from beneath his skin, making it hard to breathe.

“It’s boiling…” he grumbled, kicking off the thin blanket in irritation. He sat up, a few strands of his bangs damp with sweat and clinging to his forehead.

He wiped the back of his neck, squinting at the blinding glare outside the window, and complained, “What kind of weather is this? How is it already sweltering first thing in the morning?”

Before he could finish his grumbling, he noticed a steady, calm gaze on him.

Turning his head, he saw Jiang Jue already awake and leaning against the headboard. Jiang Jue looked at him quietly, with only a trace of morning drowsiness lingering in his dark eyes.

“Brother Jiang, you’re up too?” Chu Yang scratched his messy bedhead, wearing a look that was half post-sleep daze and half irritation from the heat. “Did this damn weather wake you up as well?”

“Yeah,” Jiang Jue replied softly. He shifted his posture slightly, subtly blocking the harsh sunlight from hitting Chu Yang’s face. His voice carried the deep, gravelly rasp of someone who had just woken up. “Since you’re awake, get dressed, pack your things, and let’s head down for breakfast.”

At the mention of “breakfast,” Chu Yang’s mood instantly flipped, and his stomach let out a loud, timely rumble.

“Oh, right, food! Sister Wang mentioned yesterday that she was going to make steamed buns this morning!” Perking up immediately, he threw on his clothes and jumped out of bed, his excitement for a good meal quickly pushing the uncomfortable heat to the back of his mind.

Down in the kitchen, Wang Li had already been bustling about for a while.

Finely minced meat, peeled shrimp, diced shiitake mushrooms, and softened glass noodles were neatly laid out across the prep counter. Her hands moved with practiced ease as she kneaded the dough, rolled out thin wrappers, and pinched the edges together. Before long, two large tiers of plump, pale buns sat neatly inside the steamers.

As steam began to billow from the pot, she lifted the lid. A mouthwatering aroma of savory meat and sweet seafood instantly flooded the air, making the stomachs of everyone gathered near the kitchen doorway growl in unison. Heads craned forward eagerly, peeking inside.

In the large cast-iron pot beside the steamer, a batch of white rice porridge had simmered down to a thick, velvety consistency, bubbling gently as the grains rolled over one another, releasing a comforting fragrance.

When the buns and porridge were carried over to the dining table, everyone’s eyes lit up.

Even Jiang Jue, who was usually stoic and unreadable, softened his expression slightly as his gaze lingered on the fresh buns.

“It smells incredible! Sister Wang Li, you’re amazing!” Chu Yang was the first to bound over to the table, his eyes practically glowing. “How long has it been since we had real, fresh steamed buns? This is pure soul food in an apocalypse! They look unbelievable!”

Little Yu had already been standing beside the table for some time. Looking up, his wide eyes were fixed on the steaming buns. His lips twitched slightly as he fought to keep from drooling, though his longing expression was impossible to hide.

Li Yu and Wang Qiang gathered around as well, broad smiles of anticipation on their faces as they thanked Wang Li repeatedly. “Thank you for all the hard work, Sister Li! Cooking up a feast like this so early in the morning—your culinary skills are genuinely unmatched!”

Su Mubai walked over slowly from the hallway.

After a solid night of rest, his face still carried a faint trace of paleness, but his spirits had visibly improved, and his eyes were clear and alert.

Taking in the hearty spread, he offered a warm, grateful smile to Wang Li as she wiped her hands. “Thank you for making this, Sister Wang Li. It really means a lot.”

Flustered by all the praise, Wang Li waved her hand modestly, a kind smile spreading across her honest face. “It was nothing at all! Come on, eat while it’s hot. You need a full stomach to keep your strength up, especially since we’re hitting the road again today.”

The room was filled with a relaxed, cheerful warmth.

Just then, Lin Xiao walked into the dining room last. Habitually scanning the table, his gaze locked straight onto Su Mubai, who had just looked up in his direction.
