Chapter 45
Fang Jing Yao had worn rings before. Previously, Zhuo Yifan liked buying accessories to look cool, and Fang Jing Yao had joined in once or twice. But this was the first time wearing a ring on his ring finger, especially such a formal one. Holding hands with Long Yu, the two rings touched, pressed together, and even their warmth seemed to pass through. The feeling made his heart float, but his shoulders felt heavy—he truly felt like he had a home now.
Fang Jing Yao felt as if he had grown up overnight. His thoughts were no longer just for himself—they now included Dr. Long.
They walked back to the hotel. Long Yu wanted to stay with him, but Fang Jing Yao frowned. “Isn’t it awkward? You all came together. If you go back alone, what will people say? Let’s go back tonight.”
Long Yu thought for a moment. “Then I’ll tell them.”
They all stayed on the same floor. While Fang Jing Yao changed his clothes, Long Yu returned—this time bringing his luggage too. While unpacking, he said: “From now on, I’ll stay with you here for half a month.”
Fang Jing Yao, curious, asked: “How did you explain it to them?”
Long Yu kissed him, brushing his nose against him: “I said family came over.”
Fang Jing Yao’s heart warmed, and he nudged him in return: “Good explanation—deserves a reward.”
Long Yu kissed him again and whispered: “Did I hurt you yesterday?”
Fang Jing Yao immediately knew he had mischievous intentions. Moreover, Long Yu’s hands were already exploring lower. He gasped, struggling for breath: “You… washed me yesterday, you didn’t know…”
Long Yu kissed him, triumphant: “My Jing Yao’s body is strong. So perfect.”
Then they spent more than two hours indulging in passionate love.
Fang Jing Yao knew he had a strong body. He rarely got sick—only a childhood appendectomy. But even so, Long Yu’s relentless passion was intense.
Fang Jing Yao lay there, forehead covered in sweat, finally calming down. He turned to negotiate: “We can’t always do this. We need rules.”
Long Yu: “Hmm?” Hands still exploring, touching his marks left a little more, and the mischievous side of him felt proud.
Fang Jing Yao: “You’re always the one practicing techniques—it’s unfair. I want to practice too. Let me go once.”
Long Yu kissed him and smiled: “Okay.”
Fang Jing Yao was stunned. “You agreed? You know what I mean, right?”
Long Yu kissed him, utterly doting: “I know. Whatever you want, I’ll give.”
This attitude—“as long as you want it, if I have it, it’s yours”—softened the last bit of Fang Jing Yao’s stubborn heart. Long Yu smiled, eyes full of affection. Fang Jing Yao was silent. Long Yu held his hand, kissed the ring, and asked softly: “Jing Yao?”
Fang Jing Yao sighed and laughed: “I… really give up.”
Long Yu: “Give up what?”
Fang Jing Yao, exasperated: “Give up resisting you!” He had originally wanted to negotiate a second condition, to make Long Yu a bit more restrained, but Long Yu was so frank and cute that Fang Jing Yao immediately surrendered.
“I want to go again…” Long Yu whispered, holding Fang Jing Yao, excited yet shy. “You seemed to enjoy it just now, right? Even tighter than yesterday.”
Fang Jing Yao tried to resist with a straight face, but his inner self was completely smitten.
After two minutes, Fang Jing Yao surrendered, looping his arms around Long Yu’s neck, murmuring: “It felt good just now, but you can’t keep pressing there… Let me catch my breath… and don’t… hmm, don’t just go in so suddenly…”
After that, Fang Jing Yao could no longer speak. His eyes were dazed, his Adam’s apple rolling, remembering only that he held tightly onto the person covering him.
Dr. Long was straightforward and precise—a direct strike, a guaranteed hit.
Fang Jing Yao tried to play some strategy but struck out, collapsing directly onto the bed.
This round of life’s harmony was even more satisfying than yesterday’s. Fang Jing Yao savored the feeling, realizing that he truly enjoyed it. After the applause ended, he became alert, refusing to sleep in the middle of the night, propping himself up under the bed lamp to look at the rings.
Fang Jing Yao felt it was particularly novel—just a small, unassuming ring, yet he admired it repeatedly. Soon, he noticed a special mark on the ring. It looked like a heart, but also somewhat like a bitten apple. He couldn’t help but say, “Apples make rings now? I thought they only made phones!”
Long Yu: “……”
Long Yu: “This is an apple I drew.” He glanced at Fang Jing Yao’s hand. Indeed, it did resemble an apple. He had commissioned a European old store to custom mold it. The mold was already destroyed, so modifications weren’t possible.
Fang Jing Yao happily said: “It’s fine—it’s for the proposal, and it’s cute. When we get married, it’ll be my turn to show off~”
Long Yu became interested and discussed it briefly with him. He had done his homework: marriage could only happen after engagement. But engagement was already half a step into marriage. He was satisfied with the pace. He discussed what material the wedding rings should be. Fang Jing Yao hesitated quickly, saying: “Maybe it won’t work.”
Long Yu: “Why?”
Fang Jing Yao: “My mom might want to give a ring. She seemed to have been preparing it already.”
Long Yu, intrigued: “What kind?”
Fang Jing Yao gestured: “They’re family antiques, quite valuable—a pair of old emerald rings.”
Long Yu asked again: “Do they have patterns? I don’t really like overly intricate rings.”
He sounded a little troubled. Fang Jing Yao laughed, pinched his face, teasing: “Why are you so thick-skinned, acting like that ring’s already yours!”
Long Yu laughed too, leaning in to kiss him: “Of course, it’s mine.”
After talking about the rings, they quickly moved on to discussing life after returning from Hainan. Fang Jing Yao shared about his family and asked about Long Yu’s parents: “When we go back, I’ll visit your uncle and aunt too, right?”
Long Yu nodded: “Sure. Should I go to your place first?”
Fang Jing Yao scratched his head, not knowing much about these things: “Either way is fine. Family is family; it doesn’t matter who we meet first.”
Long Yu agreed and asked: “Who else is in your family? Should I prepare anything? Should we visit relatives too?”
Fang Jing Yao thought for a moment: “No need. This time, just go home and have a meal with my parents, meet them. Other relatives can wait—there are too many; I don’t even remember all of them.” He paused, then boasted about his family’s emerald rings: “They’ve been passed down since my great-grandmother’s generation. During the war, the big family scattered, everyone fled here and there—my maternal family’s genealogy books are stacked high. Some went to Singapore to escape, some stayed here.”
Long Yu listened with great interest, fully engaged.
“You wouldn’t believe how many relatives we have at New Year, especially on my mom’s side. So many rules! I couldn’t wait to grow up. My maternal family had a rule: after eight, no kowtowing. Back then, during New Year, my head hurt so much from all the kowtowing—it was swollen! If it weren’t for the extra money, I wouldn’t have done it!” Fang Jing Yao sighed, sympathizing with himself.
Long Yu kissed his forehead. Fang Jing Yao, embarrassed, pushed him slightly: “You’re silly. That doesn’t hurt anymore.”
Long Yu kissed his ear, nibbling the earlobe playfully: “I was just worried you might have banged your head as a kid and turned into a little fool.”
Fang Jing Yao immediately protested: “Who are you talking about?”
Long Yu raised an eyebrow: “Otherwise, how did you not recognize me? How come you didn’t remember me?”
Fang Jing Yao: “……”
Long Yu explained for him: “Because people have always been around you, so many, so lively—you couldn’t remember me. When you went to the bookstore in elementary school, my aunt sent me with you to pick a Xinhua dictionary. While choosing, I lost track of you and finally found you among a group of children. You were reading with three little girls, and eventually slept on one girl’s shoulder. By the time you went home, your pockets were full of candy and biscuits they gave you.”
Fang Jing Yao felt embarrassed—it indeed sounded like things he had done as a child.
Long Yu continued: “High school wasn’t any easier. During military training, someone even sent you flowers.”
Fang Jing Yao remembered: “I didn’t do it on purpose! Who knew someone would come to our class? I was startled too…”
Long Yu: “So did they give them?”
Fang Jing Yao: “…Yes.”
Long Yu asked: “Did you accept them?”
Fang Jing Yao, embarrassed and flustered: “…I did, but to prove I wasn’t in an early romance, I immediately handed them over to the class teacher!”
Dr. Long, after complaining for a while, summarized it himself. He hugged Fang Jing Yao and kissed him gently, whispering: “But now, you’re mine.”
Fang Jing Yao smiled, hugging him by the neck: “Yes, I’m yours.”
