After Reincarnating as the Dragon King, I Made a Fortune with Seafood – CH70

Chapter 70

They set out in the morning and reached their destination a little after three in the afternoon.

Since it was still early, everyone quickly changed into wetsuits and entered the sea.

It was a bright, sunny day, and the weather was excellent. After Lu Ao changed and entered the water, he immediately realized that the seawater was very clear. Visibility was extremely high, reaching roughly a dozen meters, perhaps even several dozen meters.

Underwater, Lu Ao could see Lin Manzhang and the others within a hundred meters nearby.

Human figures beneath the sea looked like thin little branches. If one was not paying attention, even their shadows could disappear from sight.

The average depth here was around eleven or twelve meters, deeper than any sea area where they had previously spearfished.

For safety, everyone tied a safety rope around their waists. Only Lu Ao refused.

He wore only a string around his waist for threading fish, held a speargun, and jumped into the sea.

Noticing his companions nearby, he deliberately swam off to the side for a while, trying his best to avoid their line of sight.

Lin Manzhang noticed he had swum rather far and worried that he had run into trouble. He surfaced and called out loudly, “Lu Ao, did you get caught in a current?”

“No.” Lu Ao surfaced too and answered him. “I saw quite a few fish over here, so I’ll hunt on this side.”

“All right. Be careful!”

Lu Ao made a hand gesture. “Got it.”

With that, everyone sank beneath the surface again to spearfish.

Lu Ao kicked through the water and swam downward, feeling an indescribable happiness in his heart.

The seawater here was truly too clear, much clearer than the coastal waters.

Because it was so clear, it resembled swimming-pool water, a pleasant, translucent blue. Looking at it, one would only think of beauty, not danger.

The water was more than ten meters deep, broad and open. Here, Lu Ao could fully stretch his body.

He narrowed his eyes in satisfaction, wanting a little to turn back into dragon form.

After swimming for quite a while, Lu Ao remembered the serious matter at hand and began chasing fish.

The seabed was a reef flat. There were many fish, both large and small, swimming past in groups of three or five. For a moment, it was almost dazzling.

Lu Ao locked onto several groups of fish. They were all large, but unfortunately, they swam too fast. Several times, he raised his speargun, only to miss the chance to fire and watch helplessly as the fish slipped away.

He wasted quite some time underwater and gained nothing.

At last, a fish ahead swam over slowly.

Lu Ao quietly approached. When he was four or five meters away, he suddenly pulled the trigger and shot the spear.

Before the fish could react, the spear pierced clean through it. Under sudden attack, it began struggling desperately.

Lu Ao tugged the fish line and swam toward the surface.

When he broke the water, Lin Guixiao happened to be on the surface too.

Treading water, Lin Guixiao called out, “Lu Ao, what fish did you get?”

“Armored pompano.”

“Whoa! Big fish!” Lin Guixiao asked excitedly, “How big is that armored pompano?”

“A little over ten jin, probably. What did you get?”

“A spotted scat. About one or two jin.”

Spotted scat fetched a decent price. Even though it was not large, Lin Guixiao was still very excited.

Lu Ao heard him and reminded him, “Watch out for its spines.”

The spines of spotted scat were venomous. If pricked, it would hurt for several days.

They were now at sea. If someone got injured, it would really delay things.

Lin Guixiao laughed twice. “I know. I’ll go back to the boat and put the fish away first.”

Lu Ao nodded. “Then I’ll keep fishing.”

Lu Ao hung the armored pompano he had caught at his waist, then continued diving to spearfish.

There were many small fish in the sea, swimming back and forth. Lu Ao usually did not hunt these little fish of only one jin or a few liang.

Spearfishers generally tried to pick larger fish and leave the small ones to keep growing.

Lu Ao did not hunt small fish also because his aim was not very good. The failure rate when shooting small fish was higher.

He continued searching. Before long, he saw a green grouper.

This green grouper was a decent size, visually around two or three jin.

Lu Ao’s aim was average. He chased it for quite a while and fired several times before finally hitting it.

Next came two black porgies.

Black porgies were fairly common. Since they delivered themselves to him, Lu Ao did not hold back. He lifted the speargun and shot straight through one.

Time passed bit by bit. The setting sun gradually sank toward the sea, and broad sheets of evening clouds drifted across the sky.

Even through the water, one could see the brilliant glow of the sunset.

Lin Manzhang surfaced, panting as he called out, “The tide has changed. Let’s stop here for today. Everyone get back on the boat first.”

Everyone surfaced one after another in response. Lin Gongshang and Tan Junhao simply climbed straight onto the boat.

Lin Manzhang looked into the distance and called, “Lu Ao?”

“Almost.” Lu Ao surfaced and answered. “I’ll come up after I get this fish.”

“What fish are you chasing?”

“A honeycomb grouper. You all rest first.”

When everyone heard it was a honeycomb grouper, their eyes lit up.

Honeycomb grouper was currently very expensive, second only to mouse grouper. It cost several hundred yuan per jin. If he could catch one, that would mean at least six or seven hundred yuan in hand.

Lin Guixiao asked, “Are there many honeycomb groupers on your side?”

“Not bad. I saw several.”

Lu Ao was already fishing there, so the others could not very well come over and snatch them.

Lin Guixiao rubbed his hands eagerly. “Then tomorrow I’m going over there to spearfish too.”

Lu Ao replied and sank down again.

The few honeycomb groupers had not yet sensed danger and were leisurely searching for food underwater.

Lu Ao quietly approached.

Only when he got within four or five meters did the honeycomb groupers react and scatter all at once.

Lu Ao lost his target again.

He was not anxious. He surfaced for a breath, then came back down to continue.

After several rounds, Lu Ao finally managed to get near that group of honeycomb groupers.

This time, he did not dare delay. He aimed straight at the one he had the greatest confidence in and fired.

The spear split through the current and shot toward the honeycomb grouper.

The next moment, it nailed into the grouper’s body. A small stream of blood flowed out, dyeing the nearby water faint red.

Lu Ao did not get greedy. He pulled the fish and slowly floated upward.

The others had already returned to the boat. Seeing him swim over slowly, they all came to pull him up.

Lu Ao climbed onto the boat. Without the buoyancy of seawater, his body suddenly felt extremely heavy, especially with several dozen jin of fish hanging from his waist. It was so heavy that he nearly staggered.

Lin Qiyan hurriedly steadied his hand. “Careful.”

“I’m fine.” Lu Ao untied the fish and casually pulled over a stool, sitting down on it to catch his breath. “I’m exhausted.”

Among the fish he had caught, the honeycomb grouper and the green grouper were the most eye-catching.

Lin Gongshang squatted beside him and flipped through the fish he had caught. The first thing he saw was the honeycomb grouper.

Honeycomb grouper was especially easy to recognize. Its body was covered in hexagonal markings, giving it a rather imposing appearance.

Lin Gongshang weighed it in his hand and said with certainty, “This honeycomb grouper is at least four jin.”

Lu Ao drank half a bottle of mineral water in one go. After catching his breath for a while, he agreed. “It’s indeed around four or five jin.”

“Just this honeycomb grouper you caught today is worth more than all the fish I got combined.”

“What did you get?”

“Nothing much. Three black porgies, one green grouper, one wolf herring, and that’s it.” Lin Gongshang said, “Aside from you, Zhang-ge caught the most fish today. Five black porgies, two wolf herrings, two gelaxi fish, and one green grouper. Lin Guixiao and Tan Junhao were about the same as me, but Lin Guixiao caught a more expensive spotted scat.”

In a few sentences, Lin Gongshang summarized everyone’s harvest.

Lin Qiyan had not entered the water today, so his catch count was zero, but he had filmed plenty of video material and was quite satisfied himself.

Lu Ao sat on the stool, breathing lightly.

Lin Qiyan went into the cabin and brought out a large bag of snacks. “Eat something first and rest a bit.”

Lu Ao did not stand on ceremony. He took it and started eating.

Lin Gongshang picked up the fish and asked with a grin, “I’ll help you take the fish to freeze?”

Lu Ao waved his hand, signaling for him to go ahead.

These fish had just come out of the water and were all still alive. If frozen now, once thawed for eating, the texture and taste would be almost the same as fresh fish.

Lu Ao sat on the deck and ate a pile of snacks, finally recovering a little.

He picked up the spear and went to get clothes to change into.

No one put much thought into dinner. They simply threw some vegetables into a pot, cooked everything through, and everyone took a bowl to serve themselves.

They opened a can of olive vegetable and a jar of chili sauce. A spoonful of olive vegetable with a little chili sauce made the flavor quite good.

Lu Ao was not picky. After eating half a pot by himself, he washed his own bowl, finished washing up, and prepared to take out his sleeping bag to rest.

He was already very tired today, but lying in the sleeping bag, he somehow could not fall asleep.

Seawater was different from fresh water. Even when dry, it still made its presence especially known.

Lu Ao lay there, feeling uncomfortable all over.

They had not brought much fresh water. In the afternoon, Lu Ao had already used mineral water to roughly wipe himself down.

The others had not even wiped themselves. They simply slept with seawater still on their bodies.

Even so, they were so tired that they fell asleep as soon as they lay down. They did not have Lu Ao’s problem.

Lu Ao lay on his back on the deck, looking up at the brilliant river of stars, and sighed silently in his heart.

It was better to let some rain fall.

If nothing else, he had to at least take a bath.

He closed his eyes and tried to communicate with the clouds.

Beneath the boat, countless tiny drops of seawater turned into vapor and slowly rose upward.

The distant clouds also slowly gathered.

The cloud layer grew thicker and thicker, gradually blocking out the stars.

Lu Ao continued summoning clouds and seawater.

The temperature around them slowly dropped, and a sea breeze rose.

Lin Qiyan was the first to notice something was wrong. He opened his eyes and was startled. “Hey, is it going to rain?”

Everyone was awakened by his voice. They looked up and saw that a large mass of dark clouds had indeed covered the sky. The stars were no longer visible.

“Damn, wind and rain just come whenever they want?” Lin Gongshang quickly jumped up and called to everyone, “Hurry up and move the sleeping bags inside! Don’t let them get wet!”

Hearing this, everyone hurriedly moved their sleeping bags, planning to change locations and keep sleeping.

Only Lu Ao went to dig out a clean set of clothes. “Since it’s raining, I’ll take a bath first.”

“You can do that?”

“Why not?” Lu Ao asked in return. “Isn’t rain from the sky here to help us bathe?”

Before everyone could react, Lu Ao had already stripped down to only a pair of underwear, taken a towel, and gone outside.

He did not use shampoo or body wash, afraid of polluting the marine environment. He simply went out with a towel to bathe.

As soon as he went outside, bean-sized raindrops indeed began to fall, striking the deck with sharp patters.

Lin Qiyan pulled off his T-shirt and chased after him. “I’m coming too.”

With two people taking the lead, Lin Gongshang and the others also grabbed towels and ran out.

Large drops of rain fell on their heads and bodies, washing away water stains, sweat, and salt. Even without shampoo or body wash, scrubbing under the rain made their bodies feel refreshed.

The others worried that the rain would stop soon, so they all took quick military-style showers.

Only Lu Ao washed carefully and thoroughly, with an attitude that could almost be called enjoyment.

When he returned to the cabin with a cool, refreshed body, the rain had just stopped.

Looking at how, from the start of the rain to the end, every drop had been put to use by Lu Ao, Lin Gongshang could not help saying, “That wasn’t rain. That was your family showerhead, wasn’t it?”

Lu Ao wiped his hair and, unusually, did not refute him. “Pretty much?”

“Damn. Your luck is way too good. Even the heavens send rain just to serve you!”
