After Bystander A Bound to JJ Literature City – CH131

Chapter 131

The ministers in the corridor were all ability users—each with sharp hearing and exceptional vision. Every one of them clearly saw the small movements between Yu Zhi and Fu Suxi, as well as heard their conversation.

Their gazes lingered on Yu Zhi for a brief moment before quickly shifting to Fu Suxi.

Seeing that Fu Suxi now looked half-smiling and relaxed—completely unlike the cold and ruthless figure he had been in the conference room—their expressions turned unpleasant.

Instead of handling the aftermath of the temporary resettlement zone, he was flirting here?

One of the older ministers let out a cold snort, clearly intending to say something. Before he could speak, however, the person beside him stopped him and pulled him down another corridor, as if afraid of even getting close to Fu Suxi.

Seeing this, the others also began taking a different route.

In the blink of an eye, only four people from the group continued forward along the original path.

“Brother Yu, Minister Yu,” Zuo Feiyang called out.

Yu Zhi nodded to him and glanced at the others beside him.

One was Minister Lin from the Research Department. She walked briskly, gave a hurried greeting, and then strode ahead, looking as if she were in a rush to get back to the lab.

As for the other two, Yu Zhi had never seen them before.

When Fu Suxi had interrogated the mole inside the Operations Bureau, Yu Zhi had met almost everyone there—yet he had no impression of these two at all.

He looked at them more closely. They were both young. The man walking in front was particularly eye-catching—tailored suit, polished leather shoes, every detail from head to toe radiating the air of someone raised in privilege.

Sensing Yu Zhi’s gaze, the man walked straight up to him and smiled slightly.

“Mr. Yu, my apologies. I’ve been rather busy lately and didn’t have the chance to greet you.”

“Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Song Guanyu, Director of the Command Department.”

He extended his hand.

Just as Yu Zhi’s fingertips touched Song Guanyu’s hand, another large, well-defined hand pressed down onto the back of his.

Long fingers slipped forcefully yet ambiguously between his own, interlocking their fingers tightly and interrupting the handshake.

“Stay away from him,” Fu Suxi said coldly to Song Guanyu.

The smile on Song Guanyu’s face didn’t change. “Minister Yu, I merely wanted to greet your boyfriend.”

Yu Zhi’s brows twitched. He caught the implication—Song Guanyu had approached him because of Fu Suxi.

Naturally, Fu Suxi understood it as well. He let out a scoff. “Then stay farther away.”

At those words, Song Guanyu’s smile stiffened slightly.

Fu Suxi continued, “My boyfriend gets jealous.”

Yu Zhi clearly felt Fu Suxi’s fingers curl slightly, the warm, rough pads brushing against his palm and sending a ripple of goosebumps up his skin.

He tried to pull his hand free with force. When he couldn’t, he said expressionlessly, “You’ve got quite the imagination.”

Fu Suxi glanced at him and corrected himself. “He’s already jealous.”

Yu Zhi: “……”

Before he could respond again, Fu Suxi turned and walked away, dragging him along without another word to Song Guanyu.

After walking some distance, Yu Zhi sensed a faint gaze on his back.

Without turning his head, he glanced sideways from the corner of his eye.

It was Song Guanyu.

And Song Guanyu wasn’t looking at him—but at Fu Suxi. Moreover, he now held a handkerchief and was calmly wiping his fingers.

Yu Zhi withdrew his gaze, thinking that Shang Yu had been right.

—Pretentious. And unable to take his eyes off Fu Suxi.

Standing in place, watching their figures disappear at the end of the corridor, Song Guanyu said softly to his deputy, “Have someone keep an eye on Yu You. Report his every move.”

The deputy looked surprised. “Yu You?”

Song Guanyu gave a quiet hum and tossed the handkerchief into the trash can.

In that brief moment of contact earlier, he had used his deduction ability on Yu You.

This person would obstruct Fu Suxi’s plan.

…………

On the other side, Yu Zhi and the others reached the elevator after turning the corner.

Yu Zhi lowered his head and looked at Fu Suxi’s left hand—calloused, well-defined joints, veins faintly bulging on the back, clearly visible.

More importantly, it was still holding his.

The hand-holding had obviously been for Song Guanyu’s benefit. Now that only Shang Yu and Zuo Feiyang were present, why hadn’t he let go?

“Aren’t you going to let go?” Yu Zhi asked.

Only then did Fu Suxi release him. His left hand dropped to his side, fingers subtly rubbing together, feeling the lingering cool body temperature.

Being close to Yu Zhi restored some of his sanity points. Physical contact restored them even faster.

The short two minutes of holding hands had been more effective than killing ten people.

Fu Suxi’s fingers paused. He resisted the urge to grab Yu Zhi again and strode into the elevator.

Yu Zhi didn’t notice his small movements. He was still thinking about Song Guanyu.

Song Guanyu’s attitude toward Fu Suxi was strange. Most people in the S City Operations Bureau—especially those outside the Combat Department—disliked Fu Suxi. Like the deputy director standing beside Song Guanyu earlier: polite on the surface, but full of dissatisfaction underneath.

On the other hand, Fu Suxi’s undisguised rejection and disgust toward Song Guanyu was equally strange.

Had they crossed paths before?

After thinking for a moment, Yu Zhi casually asked, “Is Song Guanyu your ex-boyfriend?”

At the word “boyfriend,” Fu Suxi stopped and turned to look at him. Even behind his sunglasses, his expression was complicated.

With Shang Yu and Zuo Feiyang present, he said slowly, “I’ve only dated one person.”

Considering Song Guanyu’s ability, he added reluctantly, “Stay away from him.”

Yu Zhi blinked. “Why?”

Fu Suxi curled his lips and replied with words Yu Zhi had once used himself: “Because I’m mentally twisted.”
“I’m very possessive.”

“…”
Yu Zhi gave an “oh” and said calmly, “You’re only strong where you shouldn’t be.”

Fu Suxi: “……”

The atmosphere, which had been relatively normal, gradually grew tense.

Yu Zhi and Fu Suxi remained calm and composed, but Shang Yu and Zuo Feiyang stood stiffly, glancing at each other without daring to speak.

“Ding—”

The elevator arrived at the first floor.

Shang Yu rubbed her face. After stepping out, she quickly changed the subject. “Minister Yu, regarding the temporary resettlement zone—should we make any additional arrangements?”

Hearing this, Yu Zhi pushed Song Guanyu out of his mind and pricked up his ears.

The resettlement zone was more important.

Fu Suxi replied, “No. Handle it according to the original plan.”

Shang Yu nodded, hesitating before adding, “There’s also the bureau.”
“The fact that the pollution source was Yan Yang has spread,” she paused, speaking vaguely, “and there are some crazy rumors going around…”

Fu Suxi didn’t even lift his eyelids. “Ignore them.”

Shang Yu asked again, “As for Meteorite Biotech, they still have two branch companies in East China. Should we send people to investigate?”

“No need.”

Shang Yu froze slightly, realizing this meant they were temporarily not going to deal with Meteorite Biotech.

After a moment’s hesitation, she probed, “Zuo Feiyang and Lin Xiangyuan can handle the follow-up at the resettlement zone. As for the Meteorite branches, I can personally investigate.”

Fu Suxi glanced at her. “If you’re that bored, go to the training room.”

Shang Yu immediately shut her mouth.

Yu Zhi lowered his eyes to his shoes, hiding all the emotions in them.

Fu Suxi was doing nothing now—he was waiting for Meteorite to make a move.

The people who had escaped from the resettlement zone had just caused a disturbance. The Operations Bureau’s attention was currently focused on them. For Meteorite, this was the perfect opportunity.

As he pondered, Fu Suxi’s voice suddenly sounded in his ear.

“What are you thinking about?”

Yu Zhi came back to himself. “Thinking about food.”

“Keep thinking,” Fu Suxi replied.

Yu Zhi’s lips twitched slightly. Ignoring him, he lowered his gaze and continued refining his internal plan.

He walked while organizing his thoughts, not paying attention to where he was going.

After some time, he suddenly smelled food.

He lifted his eyelids in surprise and glanced at Fu Suxi.

He had actually brought him to the cafeteria?

Fu Suxi said nothing, chose a window seat, and lit a cigarette, looking as though he were using smoke as sustenance.

Yu Zhi rubbed his nose and headed to the serving area.

Leaning lazily against the table, Fu Suxi exhaled a cloud of smoke. Through the pale haze, his gaze casually swept over Yu Zhi’s tray piled like a small mountain.

He asked Shang Yu offhandedly, “What did you do?”

Shang Yu told him everything truthfully—every word exchanged and every action taken since they’d met Yu Zhi.

Upon hearing that Yu Zhi’s livestream couldn’t be closed, Fu Suxi raised an eyebrow and glanced at the barrage.

[User “Scarecrow’s Straw” desperately demands you take this chance to humiliate him and tipped 80 universal coins.]
[User “Big Yellow Girl” hopes you’ll livestream having sex with your temporary lover and tipped 100 universal coins.]
[User “One Life, One Love” reminds you your temporary lover is two-timing and hopes you’ll livestream punishing him.]
[User “Lord of Fire” is curious about your plan and tipped 100 universal coins.]

He had seen similar comments during the meeting but hadn’t paid them much mind.

Now it seemed Yu Zhi had used the system to retaliate against Meteorite Biotech—only to be backfired on by the system itself.

Fu Suxi slowly narrowed his eyes and said thoughtfully to Shang Yu, “You don’t need to worry about his livestream anymore.”
“I’ll handle it.”

Shang Yu wanted to ask how, but seeing Yu Zhi return with two mountain-like piles of food, she swallowed her words.

She left to join Zuo Feiyang at another table. From a distance, she saw Fu Suxi twist open a bottle of drink and hand it to Yu Zhi.

After Yu Zhi finished it in two gulps, Fu Suxi opened another bottle and handed it over.

…………

S City Safe Zone – Residential District

Night fell.

Fully armed soldiers surrounded a residential complex so tightly that not even water could leak through. The lights inside were all on, the air eerily silent. Occasionally, someone approached a window to peek outside.

A curly-haired woman stood by her window, looking out. When she saw the numerous soldiers outside, she shut the window in despair.

Knock knock knock—

A sudden knock sounded at her door.

“Who is it?” she called out immediately.

No answer.

“Who’s there?” she asked again.

Still silence.

She walked to the door and looked through the peephole. No one stood outside. On the ground lay a white envelope with red edges.

She opened the door and picked it up.

Inside was a letter and a brand-new USB drive.

At the same time, an armored vehicle slowly approached the complex and stopped at the entrance.

“Captain Lin.”

Lin Xiangyuan jumped out of the vehicle and asked bluntly, “Is everyone here?”

“Yes,” the logistics officer handed him a list. “The survivors from five blocks are all here. So far, no one has shown abnormal behavior or attempted to leave.”

“Each building has designated personnel assigned, and nearby streets have been sealed off.”

“Should we notify them now?”

Lin Xiangyuan looked at the densely packed list, then at the time. After hesitating, he sighed. “Forget it. It’s already one in the morning.”
“Let them rest. We’ll notify them at dawn. No one can escape anyway…”

The next day, at first light—

All the broadcasting stations in the safe zone emitted a sharp, piercing burst of static.

After waking everyone from sleep, the static stopped. Then a cold male voice echoed clearly throughout every corner of the safe zone.

“There are no survivors in the temporary resettlement zone.”

“Who told you the safe zone is absolutely safe?”

“If you want to leave the safe zone, stand on the right. If you want to stay, stand on the left.”

“If you want to die—come find me.”
