Chapter 120
Fu Suxi looked at Yu Zhi’s utterly self-righteous expression and grabbed his wrist, tightening his grip. “Then how about I make you hurt a little?”
Yu Zhi remained calm. “An older brother isn’t meant to be hurt.”
“He’s meant to be respected and loved.”
Fu Suxi: “……”
Yu Zhi tried to pull free, but Fu Suxi’s hand was like an iron clamp, gripping tighter and tighter.
Yu Zhi narrowed his eyes and spoke to the system inwardly:
[Give me one minute of the hardest ‘Wish Granted, Must Be Hard.’]
The next second, Fu Suxi felt the texture under his palm change—becoming incomparably solid.
The unyielding wrist shifted slowly, forcing him to loosen his hold.
Fu Suxi remembered clearly: when Yu Zhi used this ability, even his lips and breath turned hard.
He stared at Yu Zhi, gaze heavy.
Yu Zhi raised a brow at him, dark eyes bright and faintly provocative.
The two were silently competing.
To everyone else, however, it just looked like flirtatious banter between lovers—intense eye contact, ambiguous tension.
He Hanhai’s cheek twitched uncontrollably. He nearly lost his stern expression. His mind screamed—
Is Team Leader Fu that desperate after one trip into the contamination zone?! Are they seriously doing public kink play again?!
Shang Yu stood by the car door, eyes darting.
Did Minister Yu mishear “respect and love” as something else? Why is he grabbing Brother Yu’s hand like that?
The most tormented one was the healer treating Fu Suxi. He had only heard gossip about Minister Yu and his “brother,” never seen them up close. Now he didn’t know where to look, gritting his molars as he desperately used his ability.
After a moment, he stammered, “M-Minister Yu… it’s done…”
The strange atmosphere inside the armored vehicle finally broke.
Yu Zhi felt Fu Suxi’s grip loosen and pulled his hand back firmly. He checked the time.
Two minutes of “Wish Granted, Must Be Hard.” Two hundred Universal Coins.
Charge it to the Bureau’s account.
Fu Suxi glanced at him but didn’t say anything further. He stopped touching him, took out a black combat uniform from storage, and changed into it.
Shang Yu quickly began reporting, trying to steer things back to business:
“The five blocks centered around the temporary resettlement zone have been evacuated and sealed. Ability users and the military are in charge. No one is allowed to enter freely.”
“No casualties outside the resettlement zone so far. No suspicious individuals found. Other safe zone districts have increased patrols. No abnormalities at present—”
Fu Suxi stepped down from the vehicle, cutting her off. “Prepare to demolish the resettlement zone.”
Shang Yu responded immediately and left to arrange it.
Yu Zhi also got out of the vehicle, scanning the area.
The street was nearly filled with armored vehicles. Not just the Operations Department—researchers from the Research Division were here too. Minister Lin from Research stood among them, giving quiet instructions.
Yu Zhi’s gaze returned to Fu Suxi.
He had thought Fu Suxi got off the vehicle to deal with Xiao Hei.
But Fu Suxi hadn’t mentioned Xiao Hei at all—nor had he brought up the possibility of Meteorite Biotech personnel nearby.
He simply stood there, lit another cigarette, and stared at the distant resettlement zone.
Not planning to deal with Xiao Hei?
Yu Zhi blinked.
The next moment, two vehicles drove out from the resettlement zone.
An armored vehicle and a black SUV—Lu Liming and Doctor Qi.
As soon as they stopped, several healing-type ability users and researchers in white coats rushed forward. The researchers collected eyeball contaminants; the ability users treated injuries.
Plenty of people surrounded Doctor Qi and Lu Liming.
Yu Zhi didn’t approach immediately. He waited until the researchers and healers left, then walked toward Lu Liming’s SUV.
“Brother Yu!”
Lu Liming saw Yu Zhi covered in blood and stiffened—then quickly remembered something.
“Is that Yan Yang’s blood?”
Yu Zhi nodded. “Yes.”
Lu Liming sighed in relief and began talking rapidly:
“After you left, it didn’t take long for me to figure out Yan Yang’s hint—‘Raise my head to gaze at the bright moon.’ I looked at the rearview mirror and saw that red moon.”
“I only glanced at it once and felt the mental contamination. My mind went blank. Then that Xiao Hei called Shadow Mask suddenly appeared…”
Yu Zhi wasn’t surprised he had deduced Yan Yang’s position. Lu Liming was smart—just occasionally took mental detours.
Yu Zhi glanced into the car.
The backpack of guns and ammunition he had stuffed in during the instance was untouched. The tranquilizer guns in the trunk were unchanged.
He stored the SUV into [My Items], mildly surprised. “You didn’t fire?”
“Not once,” Lu Liming nodded quickly. “Shadow Mask stepped on the car. When he saw you weren’t inside, he left. I almost drove into a wall…”
Yu Zhi was about to respond when Fu Suxi’s voice sounded behind him.
“Shadow Mask is an S-rank ability user.”
Lu Liming looked over, confused, then straightened proudly. “Brother Yu is also an S-rank ability user.”
Yu Zhi: “……”
Fu Suxi: “……”
Fu Suxi stared at him expressionlessly.
Lu Liming scratched his head. “And?”
Fu Suxi ignored him, smoking as he looked toward Doctor Qi.
Doctor Qi’s contamination was worse; eyeballs were still being removed from his body. After observing, Fu Suxi confirmed there were no additional injuries.
Shadow Mask hadn’t just targeted Lu Liming—he had targeted Qi Zong too. Yet both were unharmed.
For Yu Zhi’s sake?
Or some other reason?
Fu Suxi bit down lightly on his cigarette and withdrew his gaze.
Yu Zhi noticed the scrutiny clearly. Seeing Fu Suxi drop the topic, he said casually:
“I thought you forgot about Xiao Hei.”
Fu Suxi let out a faint scoff. “How could I forget your dear little brother?”
“Not mine,” Yu Zhi corrected lightly. “Ours.”
Fu Suxi glanced sideways at him. “I’m not interested in sharing that kind of thing with you.”
Yu Zhi raised his brows in mock surprise. “That possessive, huh?”
Fu Suxi: “……”
“Minister Yu.”
A familiar voice interrupted.
Yu Zhi turned—it was Lin Xiangyuan. He walked quickly to Fu Suxi.
“Demolition preparations are complete. We can proceed anytime.”
“Minister Shang asked if we should notify the civilians stationed outside. They seem to know this was a contamination event. The explosion might affect nearby—”
Fu Suxi interrupted flatly. “No explanation. Detonate.”
Lin Xiangyuan nodded. “After demolition?”
“Handle the resettlement zone according to normal procedures.”
Lin Xiangyuan froze for two seconds, rubbing his bald head. “Normal procedures? The previous ones?”
Fu Suxi flicked ash off his cigarette. “Does the S-City branch have other procedures?”
“No. I’ll arrange it.”
He hurried off.
Yu Zhi watched his uneasy back and asked quietly, “What are normal procedures?”
Lin Xiangyuan paused and glanced at Fu Suxi. Seeing no reaction, he lowered his voice.
“Clear the contamination zone, report to headquarters, handle compensation and follow-up investigations. Same as before the apocalypse.”
Then he leaned closer.
“But now it’s different. The civilians already know it’s a contamination incident. We can’t hide it. If we don’t explain anything, public opinion might get ugly…”
He glanced nervously at Fu Suxi’s cold gaze and swallowed the rest of his words.
“I’ll go prepare the demolition.”
He ran off.
Yu Zhi turned to Fu Suxi.
Something wasn’t right.
If Shang Yu or anyone else chose the “normal procedure,” that would be fine.
But for Fu Suxi?
That was abnormal.
For someone so vengeful—so ruthless—not immediately dealing with Xiao Hei and Meteorite Biotech meant tolerance. Indifference.
He had been forcing Meteorite Biotech to act early.
Now that they had acted—
He was ignoring them?
Ignoring Xiao Hei.
Ignoring Meteorite Biotech.
Yu Zhi studied his profile thoughtfully.
“Pidant knows I only met Yan Yang for one day.”
“There’s someone inside the Bureau working for Meteorite Biotech. Someone who understands my relationships very well.”
Fu Suxi didn’t pause his smoking. He exhaled smoke slowly. “Mm.”
Yu Zhi confirmed his suspicion.
No reaction to the mole.
Fu Suxi truly wasn’t planning to deal with Meteorite Biotech—for now.
Fu Suxi turned his head toward him, releasing the last wisp of smoke deliberately.
“You want to handle it?”
