Chapter 58: An Orange and a Suspicious Donor
Gu Tang and Gu Qinian walked into the classroom hand in hand.
“First!”
Seeing that none of the other students had arrived yet, Gu Tang broke into a smile like a little sunflower. “This is my first time ever being the earliest one in class!”
Living in the school dorm saved quite a bit of commuting time, but Gu Tang loved sleeping in.
Back when Young Master Gu used to wake him up every day, things had been manageable. But during the more than half a year the other boy had been away, Gu Tang had to thank the heavens if he managed to make it to class before the bell. Arriving early had been absolutely impossible.
Today was an exception.
Young Master Gu had returned, and Gu Tang was so excited that he woke up early all on his own.
It was not even seven yet.
The pale golden light unique to early morning streamed through the glass windows and spread softly across the room.
Aside from the two of them, the classroom was completely empty. Everything still looked exactly as it had the night before when their classmates left—some desks had stacks of books on them, others still had half-finished test papers spread out…
Gu Tang shook Young Master Gu’s hand. “Guess where our seats are?”
He had picked the seats himself, and he had not yet told the other boy where exactly they were.
He just wanted to see whether Young Master Gu could guess.
The moment Gu Qinian heard Gu Tang say “our,” he felt immensely pleased, the corner of his lips lifting slightly as his gaze flicked toward the last row of the fourth group.
Gu Tang: “!”
“You guessed that fast???”
He had even wanted to keep it a surprise!
Gu Qinian lifted the schoolbag in his hand and gave it a small shake, making the little osmanthus sachet hanging from it sway. “There are several matching ones on that desk.”
“…”
Gu Tang covered his face.
It was his own fault.
Yesterday, while bored, he had taken out the little sachet babies to play with and forgotten to put them back into Young Master Gu’s drawer.
Gu Qinian turned his head to look at him. “Instead of paying attention in class, you were making sachets?”
“I paid attention in class too.”
Gu Tang proudly lifted his chin. “Otherwise how could I have gotten second place?”
In his previous life, he had died just after turning eighteen. On top of that, he had spent many years bedridden with illness. So starting in the second year of high school, the coursework had actually become a little difficult for him.
Gu Tang felt that, having worked hard to earn second place in the grade, he deserved some praise.
Though Gu Qinian was stingy with words in front of everyone else, he was never reluctant to praise Gu Tang.
He walked to their seats, put down the schoolbag, and raised a hand to ruffle Gu Tang’s hair. “Mm. You’re amazing.”
Gu Tang’s smile grew even sweeter.
He leaned closer and nudged Young Master Gu with his shoulder, then pointed outside the window. “I picked this spot. Do you like it?”
His proud little expression seemed to be saying—
Look, see this empire I won for you!
Gu Qinian did not look outside. His gaze remained fixed on Gu Tang’s profile. “I like it.”
Gu Tang curved his lips into a smile, then deliberately imitated elementary-school Young Master Gu from back then. Sitting in the chair with one leg crossed, arms folded, he said in all seriousness, “The scenery here is good.”
Gu Qinian froze for a moment. “You still remember that?”
“Of course.”
Gu Tang lifted his little chin. “Anything Nian-Nian says, I remember.”
When the boy spoke, his brows and eyes curved gently, and his full, moist lips tilted upward. They looked like little berries hanging on a branch after being washed by rain, bright and enticing in color.
Gu Qinian’s dark, ink-black eyes stayed fixed on him, and for a moment he said nothing.
Being stared at like that made Gu Tang feel a little warm in the face. He cleared his throat lightly and pushed all the little sachets over to Young Master Gu’s side. “While you were abroad, I saved every kind of flower that bloomed at school. See if you can tell what they are by smell.”
But Gu Qinian suddenly leaned closer, rubbing his head into the hollow of his neck like a cat.
As he rubbed, he kept sniffing around.
Gu Tang was ticklish, and his neck was one of his sensitive spots. Being nuzzled like that gave rise to a strange feeling.
In a small voice, he muttered, “…Nian-Nian, what are you doing?”
“You made the sachets. If I smell you, won’t I know what kinds of flowers are in them?”
Gu Qinian said it as if it were the most natural logic in the world, and he kept sniffing while speaking.
Gu Tang blinked.
What kind of absurd reasoning was that?
He had showered who knew how many times by now. Even if some floral scent had once remained on him, it would have long since turned into the smell of body wash.
But after smelling him for a while, Young Master Gu said, “You smell better.”
As he spoke, his breath fell against Gu Tang’s neck, as if countless tiny feathers were teasing the skin there. Gu Tang shrank away from the ticklishness, but the moment he moved, Young Master Gu caught him.
“Don’t move.”
Gu Qinian’s voice came out low and deep.
The scent rising from the boy’s neck kept stimulating his senses, and the desire inside him could not be hidden at all. It was as though it wanted to become tangible tentacles, stretch out, wrap around Gu Tang, and slowly swallow him whole…
Song Chen entered the classroom carrying a bag of soy milk, and when he saw someone inside, he was just about to greet them.
But the moment he opened his mouth, he realized it was not one person.
It was two people locked together in an embrace!
Song Chen was startled and immediately shut his mouth, staring carefully.
He saw Gu Qinian holding Gu Tang in his arms, both arms wrapped tightly around him. His head was buried in Gu Tang’s neck like some kind of vampire, rubbing back and forth, looking as if he were both nibbling him and kissing him…
How the hell was that something you could do in a classroom?!!
The scene before his eyes overlapped with what he had seen the night before, when Gu Qinian had carried Gu Tang out of the bathroom.
Song Chen only felt as if a bolt of lightning had crashed through his head.
His scalp went numb, and he backed up several steps.
Accidentally, he bumped into the person behind him.
Xiao Yanjing had come to school with his backpack on. Seeing his big deskmate just standing frozen in the classroom doorway, he had been about to say hello when the sudden backward shove knocked his glasses right off.
Duan Zhengyu instantly became half blind and could not see a thing clearly.
Naturally, he also had no idea what the two people in the classroom were doing.
He was just about to complain unhappily when Song Chen suddenly shouted at the top of his lungs, “Duan Zhengyu! Your glasses fell off?!!”
His voice was enormous.
It echoed down the silent hallway.
Probably everyone on the three floors above and below could hear it.
Duan Zhengyu froze. “? Weren’t they knocked off by you?”
But Song Chen acted as if he had heard nothing and went on shouting loudly, “Come, come, let me help you find them!”
While speaking, he was also sneaking glances at the two inside the classroom.
Only after seeing the two figures separate did Song Chen finally let out a sigh of relief. He picked up the glasses and put them back on Duan Zhengyu’s face. “Be more careful next time.”
It was unclear whom those words were really meant to remind.
Duan Zhengyu still looked confused. “Oh… thanks…”
The moment Gu Qinian heard Song Chen loudly making such an obviously guilty spectacle of himself, he let go of Gu Tang.
Then he calmly sat back down in his own seat, opened a book, and started doing morning reading and practice problems as if nothing at all had happened.
Gu Tang turned to look at him blankly.
Just now…
Young Master Gu’s lips had seemed to brush against his neck.
Cool, soft, damp…
The touch had lasted only an instant.
The movement had been so light and so fast
that he could not even tell whether that fleeting sensation had really happened or if it had just been his imagination.
Young Master Gu’s face showed little expression, at least not much different from usual, which made Gu Tang suspect even more that he must have mistaken it.
Then again, he himself had bitten little Gu Qinian so many times while growing up, and he had always liked hugging that little face and kissing it. So if Young Master Gu, now that he was older, wanted to retaliate a bit, that was not completely unreasonable.
Gu Tang touched the patch of skin on his neck that might have been brushed by the other boy’s lips.
It was so hot…
Then he subconsciously rubbed his ears too.
They were hot as well…
What Gu Tang did not know was that the culprit had been observing him the whole time.
Gu Qinian looked as though he were working on exercises, but in truth he had been paying attention to Gu Tang the entire time, not missing a single micro-expression, not a single tiny movement.
Only when he saw the boy’s neck and cheeks flush pink, and his ears redden as though they were on fire, did Gu Qinian finally curl the corners of his eyes in satisfaction, laughter spreading softly in his gaze.
Gu Tang sat there in a daze for a while.
He felt his breathing become a little uneven, and the air around him seemed strangely warm too.
So he simply stood up and opened the window to let in some fresh air.
He had chosen a good seat. Right outside the window was the school garden, full of lush greenery. After taking several deep breaths, his dizzy head finally cleared somewhat.
Across from the garden was the sports field, and farther in the distance was the fence near the school gate.
Gu Tang had excellent dynamic vision, and his eyesight had always stayed above 5.0. Even from that distance, he spotted a black sedan parked outside the school.
“Nian-Nian, look at that car…”
Gu Tang tugged on Young Master Gu’s sleeve. “Don’t you think it looks kind of suspicious?”
At the same time, inside the car—
Yu Xiao was answering a phone call from his younger brother.
Yu Yang had been sent away by his older brother. He could not see Gu Lin, and he also could not acknowledge his little brother, which had left him increasingly irritable. Even his tone over the phone sounded urgent. “Big Brother, how is it going?”
Yu Xiao sat upright, looking like everything was under control. “Relax. Everything is proceeding exactly as planned.”
A subordinate muttered beside him, “We can’t even get into their school…”
Yu Xiao: “…”
Yu Yang heard that and immediately guessed that something had probably gone wrong on his elder brother’s side, so he said, “How about I handle it instead? I’m more familiar with Gu Tang—”
Before he could finish, he was interrupted.
“That is exactly why you can’t be familiar.”
Yu Xiao tapped the back of his phone with one finger, as though knocking some sense into his brother. “Otherwise, whether he is or isn’t, it’ll be trouble either way.”
Yu Yang could not understand what he meant. “What trouble could there be?”
“We test the DNA. If it is, then it is. If it isn’t, then it isn’t.”
Yu Xiao was patient only when dealing with his own younger brother, so he explained. “Our Yu family and the Gu family are already business rivals. If he really is our little brother, and the other side refuses to let him go, what if they use him to manipulate us?”
“If he isn’t our little brother, that’s even worse. What if the media makes an issue of it and digs up old family matters… By then, you won’t be able to control your emotions, and it’ll only make Mother sad all over again.”
There was actually one more point Yu Xiao did not say aloud.
After that disaster years ago, Yu Yang had been in the hospital receiving treatment, but Yu Xiao had actually gone to the scene.
He knew better than anyone what that house had looked like after it burned.
There had been nothing left inside but ashes.
Their little brother had only been a little over one year old. There was no way he could have survived…
But over the years, their mother and Yu Yang had refused to accept that fact. As long as there was no body, they insisted it meant he was still alive.
“…”
Yu Yang rubbed the bridge of his nose tiredly.
Other than coaxing them along, what else could he do?
Yu Yang felt that his elder brother was not nearly proactive enough in looking for their younger brother, and anxiously asked, “Big Brother, what’s your plan? You don’t know Gu Tang, so if you suddenly ask him for something like his hair, that’d be weird, wouldn’t it…”
Yu Xiao still looked fully confident. “I’ll do it without anyone noticing.”
The moment Yu Yang heard that, he became even more anxious. “Big Brother, you’re not going to hurt him, are you? He’s my friend! And he’s young, so don’t scare him!”
“It’s rare to hear you care about someone.”
Yu Xiao teased him, then said, “What kind of person do you take your brother for? I’m a law-abiding, model citizen.”
The subordinate picked at his fingers and muttered, “A law-abiding citizen who wants to sneak into someone else’s dorm. Tsk tsk tsk.”
Yu Xiao: “…”
“Are you looking to quit?”
The subordinate frantically shook his head.
“Get out and stand guard.”
“Yes, sir…”
After driving away the talkative useless subordinate, Yu Xiao continued educating Yu Yang. “You need to trust your brother.”
Yu Yang had no better option, so he could only give a perfunctory “Mm.” “So since the dorm is impossible, what exactly are you planning to do next?”
Yu Xiao said, “Wait for him at the school gate.”
“???”
“That won’t work!”
“He boards at school. He never comes out! Even on weekends when he goes home, the Gu family’s housekeeper picks him up personally at the school gate. Big Brother, even if you squat there until the flowers wither, you still won’t catch Gu Tang!”
Yu Yang nearly roared the words, then hurriedly swallowed two pills to calm himself down.
Yu Xiao thought for a moment and said, “Then I’ll trick him out.”
“…”
Yu Yang wanted to say that Gu Tang looked obedient and innocent, but in reality he was not that easy to fool.
But before he could speak, his wonderful elder brother interrupted him again.
“Do you trust me?”
Yu Xiao repeated the same question as before.
Yu Yang wanted to say that he would sooner trust a miracle than trust his brother on certain matters.
But in order not to wound the person who had carried the whole family on his shoulders, he gritted his teeth and answered against his conscience, “…I trust you.”
Originally, Yu Xiao had been sitting with his back ramrod straight from tension. Only after hearing Yu Yang’s answer did he finally lean back calmly against the seat. “That’s enough, then.”
“We’ll follow my plan.”
After saying that, he even let out a slow breath.
For a moment just now, he had thought Yu Yang might actually say that he did not trust him…
Knock knock knock—
Suddenly, someone knocked on the car window.
Yu Xiao turned his head and saw his subordinate’s huge face pressed against the glass.
“…”
He rolled down the window and asked impatiently, “What?”
The subordinate gave an awkward smile, then slowly stepped aside.
Behind him stood two traffic police officers wearing peaked caps.
“Hello, are you the owner of this vehicle?”
Following procedure, the officers politely showed their identification before continuing, “We received a report from a citizen. Your car has been parked here for too long, and you do not seem to be picking up or dropping off a student. For the school’s safety, we’re here to ask about the situation.”
“This is not a designated parking area. Please do not obstruct the road, and please drive away immediately.”
Yu Xiao: “…”
Yu Yang on the other end of the call: “…”
He knew it.
If it was left to Big Brother, he would definitely mess it up!
The high school division of Jiang City No. 1 High all had evening self-study.
Young Master Gu had not returned for more than half a year, so student council work had piled up into a mountain, and there was also plenty waiting for him in the basketball team. On the very first evening of self-study, there was no way he could actually sit down and study. The moment class ended, Gu Qinian hurried off to deal with school affairs.
After finishing one math test paper, Gu Tang looked up and gazed out the window to rest his eyes.
At the same time, he also checked whether that black car was still there.
That morning, after he made a report call, the traffic police had driven the car away. But according to the school security cameras, the car had not actually left right away. Instead, it had circled outside the school several more times.
As if there were something it was reluctant to leave behind.
It was very strange…
Recently, the news had reported several campus kidnapping cases.
Criminals knew that children were the treasures of their families, and the bolder ones had wicked thoughts, driving black cars around schools to abduct students.
Fortunately, Jiang City No. 1 High was located in the city center. Over the past few years, under Young Master Gu’s leadership as student council president, he had also helped the dean upgrade the campus surveillance equipment and security system so that all logistics and security standards matched those of the Gu family.
Trying to do anything bad near their school was not nearly as easy as it had once been.
“Gu Tang!”
A classmate called out to him. “The dean wants to see you.”
Gu Tang nodded. “Okay.”
At this hour, if the dean was calling for him, it was probably some student council work that needed arranging.
Thinking that Young Master Gu might also be there, Gu Tang’s steps became lighter and quicker.
But when he entered the dean’s office, the only person he saw was Fang Chi sitting stiffly on the sofa.
The dean broke into a smile the moment he saw Gu Tang. “Come, come, classmate Gu Tang, have an orange.”
It was the height of the autumn orange season.
The dean stuffed a big golden-orange citrus fruit into Gu Tang’s hand and had him sit down before getting to the main point.
“At the end of this semester, our school will be celebrating its hundredth anniversary. We’re preparing to hold a large-scale school celebration event in the form of a fair. What do you think—does that sound feasible?”
Gu Tang knew the dean very well.
Basically, when the dean asked that question, he was not really asking whether it was “feasible.” He was asking whether they “could get it done.”
And naturally, even if it could not be done, they would have to create the conditions to make it happen.
Anyone else would probably say “yes” outwardly while inwardly complaining bitterly.
But Gu Tang was different. The moment he heard “fair,” his eyes lit up.
Another thing he had never gotten to experience in his previous life!
School really was such an interesting place!
Seeing Gu Tang’s interest, the dean’s smile widened even further, the wrinkles on his face nearly matching the orange in Gu Tang’s hand.
“This time, we’ll be inviting many alumni back to campus. Those alumni are all important figures in society now, all the pride of our school…”
The dean spoke with great feeling. “They’re very socially conscious, and they suggested inviting the children from the orphanage to attend the fair as well. Fang Chi here came from the orphanage, so I brought him in to discuss the matter.”
“Who would’ve thought!”
Suddenly the dean raised his voice and swung a hand down toward Gu Tang’s shoulder.
“!!!”
Fang Chi moved fast and sharply, darting forward to block the dean’s enthusiastic slap for Gu Tang, afraid that in his excitement the dean might accidentally injure their frail little director.
Gu Tang remained completely unharmed and blinked in confusion.
Since he could not pat the shoulder, the dean instead grabbed Gu Tang’s hand tightly. “Who would’ve thought our classmate Gu Tang, so young yet so accomplished, is actually the director of Tang Tang Orphanage!”
“Well then, isn’t that perfect!”
Gu Tang was still being held by the dean and had not quite figured out what was going on.
Fang Chi leaned close and whispered into his ear, “Sorry. The dean asked me to contact the director to discuss the fair, so I had no choice but to tell him it was you.”
After hearing that, Gu Tang nodded in understanding. “It’s fine. This is a good thing.”
Over the years, the Gu family’s charity projects had expanded more and more, but the amount each project could receive was still limited.
As the director, he ought to be seeking more social resources for Tang Tang Orphanage anyway.
If the school was willing to help the children at the orphanage, was that not a good thing too?
After thinking for a moment, Gu Tang asked, “Since the alumni are being so generous, could we hold a charity auction at the fair itself?”
For the orphanage children, contact with the outside world was certainly important, but improving their living and learning conditions was the most practical thing of all.
The dean nodded repeatedly. “Of course. Our school is also considering forming a one-to-one mutual aid relationship with Tang Tang Orphanage. In the future, we might even establish an alumni fund for the orphanage children.”
“That would be wonderful!”
Gu Tang was still young. Other than being a nominal director, the only things he could really do for the orphanage were going back during winter and summer vacation to teach the children pinyin and arithmetic.
Hearing the dean describe the fair arrangements, and thinking of the possibility of securing a sizable sum of money for the orphanage as well as bringing the children to Jiang City No. 1 High for exchange and learning, he felt truly happy.
One should never underestimate the influence of education.
Back then, Fang Chi had been inspired to make it to university precisely because when he was doing part-time work delivering water to colleges, he saw those campuses and the energetic students there.
For children whose values had not yet fully formed, what they absorbed through exposure mattered more than anything.
Gu Tang and the dean immediately hit it off.
In an instant, the two of them no longer looked like teacher and student, but more like two educational leaders exchanging ideas.
At that moment, the office landline rang.
These days, not many organizations still used landlines, so whoever called one was almost certainly calling about official business.
The dean picked up. “Donate a building?”
Beside him, Fang Chi peeled an orange for Gu Tang. The two of them sat there eating orange segments while waiting for the dean to finish the call.
“Any requirements? Stuffing a student in won’t do—we admit based on grades… Oh, no student placement, just a pure donation? Then let’s discuss it…”
“What? You’re already at the school gate?!”
Not long after, the wealthy man who wanted to donate a building arrived.
Gu Tang quietly sized him up a few times.
The man looked around thirty years old, wore a pair of gold-rimmed glasses, had striking features, and carried himself with a refined, scholarly air, looking very much like a gentleman.
He was extremely tall, probably over one meter ninety, with broad shoulders and a narrow waist, dressed in a lead-gray suit. Grandma Mei had once taught him to recognize this brand—it was bespoke, absurdly expensive. He could not identify the brand of the leather shoes, which probably meant they were custom-made too, and the leather looked highly valuable.
Most especially, there was the gentleman’s cane in his hand.
At the top was set a rare gemstone as large as a pigeon’s egg.
If Gu Tang remembered correctly, this cane had been the final lot at an auction two years ago. He had heard it was worth over a hundred million and had been bought by some mysterious tycoon.
Young Master Gu had no interest in flashy things like that, but Gu Tang liked shiny objects. On top of that, influenced daily by Su Mei, in addition to piano, painting, and card games, he had also developed an interest in clothing, jewelry, and auctions.
So by the time he finished looking him over, he had already slapped a label on this wealthy gentleman’s forehead.
—A sucker.
Because really, who else would spend that much money dressing themselves like this?
Gu Tang only appreciated shiny things from an aesthetic standpoint.
Beautiful was beautiful, sure, but wearing the price of an entire luxury mansion on one’s body looked uncomfortable no matter how one thought about it.
Still, someone who could wear all this definitely had no issue donating a building.
He was not a scammer.
Analysis complete, Gu Tang lowered his head and went back to eating his orange, unaware that the other man was examining him too.
It was only when the reflected light from the man’s lenses stabbed at his eyes
that Gu Tang looked up again and met the newcomer’s assessing gaze.
Gu Tang: “?”
“Please, have a seat, have a seat.”
The dean came forward to greet him, then turned to Gu Tang and Fang Chi. “You two should go back to evening self-study now.”
But the newcomer lifted a hand to stop him. “Let’s talk together. I’d also like to learn more about the students at your school.”
“Is that so?”
The dean raised a hand and beckoned Gu Tang over. “This is our school’s student council publicity minister. You may have seen him before. He played the Ninth Prince in that very popular movie a while back. He’s quite famous, and he’s an excellent student too!”
When it came to praising one of his own students, the dean could go on and on endlessly.
The newcomer reached out and patted Gu Tang on the head. “You can tell at a glance he’s a good child.”
The touch made Gu Tang’s head dip slightly, and inwardly he felt rather puzzled.
Who still patted the head of a teenager this big?
Even the dean found it a bit odd, and his earlier warmth cooled somewhat. He pulled Gu Tang back to his side. “Why don’t you introduce yourself as well?”
“I already said on the phone. My surname is Yu. I’m the person in charge of the Yu Group.”
As he spoke, the man handed over a business card.
Gu Tang glanced at it. The name on it was Yu Xiao.
He knew that Yu Yang was the second young master of the Yu Group, but he did not know what relation this Yu Xiao had to Yu Yang.
Same surname, high status—at the very least, they had to be close blood relatives.
Yet just as he was thinking about it, his head was rubbed again by Yu Xiao’s large hand.
Gu Tang: “???”
Yu Xiao smiled at him.
The expression made him look like a wolfish grandmother trying to eat children.
The dean finally snapped. “Hey, why do you keep touching the child’s head?!”
Yu Xiao, inwardly, was suffering too. He rubbed his now-empty fingers together in secret.
So this was what high school students were like?
How was it possible that not a single hair came loose!!!
He had rubbed the boy’s head twice and not managed to pluck even one hair…
“Apologies. I’m actually a classmate of Gu Tang’s. I’ve watched his acting and liked him for a long time. Meeting him suddenly like this, I just couldn’t help myself…”
Yu Xiao tried to make himself sound a little more heartfelt, but the moment those words left his mouth, the dean’s brows shot up and he instantly went on full alert.
Though the dean’s height did not even reach Yu Xiao’s chest, he shielded Gu Tang behind him like a mother hen protecting her chick and waved a fist. “Y-you, you try touching him again!”
Yu Xiao froze. “No, please don’t misunderstand—”
“I’m not misunderstanding!”
The dean narrowed his eyes. “You only wanted to donate a building so you could get close to classmate Gu Tang, didn’t you? I knew it! There’s no such thing as pie falling from the sky! You’re not an alumnus, and if you wanted to do charity, you wouldn’t choose our school, much less show up so suddenly!”
As he spoke, he did not give Yu Xiao any chance to explain before calling the guards to throw him out.
“I’m telling you, this is called invasive fan behavior! Highly inappropriate!”
Even from far away, the dean was still craning his neck to lecture Yu Xiao.
Fang Chi clapped for the dean. “Dean, you’re amazing. You even know about invasive fandom!”
The dean flicked his sparse hair proudly. “Of course. If you work with students, you have to keep up with the times, otherwise how are you supposed to find common ground with them?”
Yu Xiao was driven out through the school gates by security.
In his whole life, he had never been this humiliated. Furious, he straightened his clothes.
His subordinate hurried over. “Boss, how did it go?”
Yu Xiao shot him a look and climbed into the car in anger.
The subordinate immediately shut his mouth.
No need to ask.
The boss had definitely messed it up.
He was already furious, and then as soon as he got into the car, his younger brother called again.
Yu Xiao yanked at his tie. But since it was his brother, he did not press decline and still answered.
Yu Yang’s anxious voice came through. “Big Brother, how did it go? Did you manage to get into Gu Tang’s school?”
Yu Xiao replied, “Of course I did!”
Yu Yang instantly relaxed. “That’s great. As expected of Big Brother.”
“And then?”
Yu Xiao ripped off the tie in irritation. “There was no ‘and then.’”
Yu Yang: “?”
Yu Xiao took a deep breath, trying his best to stay calm. “Everything requires a longer-term plan.”
Yu Yang: “…”
He knew it.
Big Brother had definitely messed it up!
Knock knock knock—
Yu Xiao was in the middle of irritably dealing with Yu Yang when he suddenly heard two knocks on the car window.
Thinking it was his subordinate, Yu Xiao was just about to curse him out.
But when he turned his head, he met a likable baby-faced boy outside. The boy’s round eyes were blinking curiously as he peered into the car.
“!!!”
It took Yu Xiao less than a second to get his expression under control.
He put on what he believed was a very friendly smile before rolling down the window.
“Classmate Gu Tang, listen to me. I’m not an invasive fan, and I’m not a pervert.”
“Mm, I know.”
Gu Tang cheerfully handed him an orange. Smiling with narrowed eyes, he said, “Please have an orange.”
The man accepted it with both hands.
Gu Tang’s eyes curved into crescents, and he smiled with angelic innocence. “May I ask what your relationship is to Brother Yu Yang?”
“And also, would you be willing to discuss the building donation with me?”

Author’s Note:
Big Brother (irritated): Leave it to me—I’ll definitely ruin it!
Big Brother (after receiving the orange): Wuwuwu, Tangtang is such a little angel!
Tangtang (wagging his little devil tail): Use the dean’s orange to steal the dean’s donated building!
