Chapter 18: Liking His Pheromones
Noah stumbled and fell into Ning Zhao’s arms.
The guards beside the crown prince were greatly alarmed and wanted to drag him away, but Ning Zhao stopped them.
“Don’t come closer. Go find a Beta attendant.”
An Omega whose pheromones were leaking, and who was very likely in heat, was dangerous if approached by an Alpha.
The guards were indeed somewhat affected by the pheromones and quickly turned to find someone.
Ning Zhao’s expression, however, remained calm. He pulled Noah away from his arms and asked gently, “Are you all right?”
Noah’s face was flushed. He could not help leaning toward Ning Zhao’s arms. “Your Highness… I… I don’t feel right…”
He deliberately tilted his neck toward Ning Zhao, exposing his already red and swollen gland.
The scent of pheromones grew even stronger.
For an instant, Ning Zhao’s eyes changed. “Your pheromone scent is very unusual.”
Noah thought there was hope. He looked at Ning Zhao with hazy eyes and deliberately softened his voice. “It’s iris… Your Highness.”
He was originally an Omega and had a beautiful face.
Everyone knew that Crown Prince Ning Zhao was gentle and kind, and cherished beauty the most.
Noah pretended to lose control and squeezed closer into Ning Zhao’s arms. The scent of iris grew even richer.
Ning Zhao comforted him, but when Noah could not see, there was no smile on the crown prince’s face.
Such high-quality Omega pheromones did not affect him in the slightest. As he smelled the iris fragrance, his eyes were as cold as deep winter snow.
“Your Highness, what are you doing?”
A careless male voice interrupted Noah.
Ning Zhao turned back and saw Izel leaning by the roadside, still wearing a smile on his face.
“If I’m not mistaken, the person in your arms seems to be my dance partner.”
The moment Ning Zhao turned back, his expression had already returned to normal. His back was straight. Although one hand politely supported Noah’s arm, his body kept a clear distance.
“Izel, you came just in time. Your Omega doesn’t seem to be doing very well.”
Izel smiled ambiguously. “Your Highness may be mistaken. My dance partner is a Beta.”
“Is that so?” Ning Zhao raised a brow. “I heard a few years ago that you were looking for an Omega with an iris scent. Could it be that it wasn’t this beautiful little thing?”
Noah suddenly let out a soft whimper beside them.
Unlike his earlier coldness, Izel stepped forward and pulled Noah over, asking with a gentle smile, “Are you all right? Don’t worry. We’re going home now.”
Noah knew this was bad, but he could only pretend to be dazed.
Ning Zhao coldly watched Izel show Noah such tender concern. Just as the two of them turned to leave, he suddenly spoke.
“Wait.”
Noah quickly turned back.
“He doesn’t seem to want to leave with you.” Ning Zhao said with a smile, “Besides, the royal family failed to host properly today. Why not let him stay and have the palace doctors take a look at him?”
Izel tilted his head slightly, his voice lazy and light. “I didn’t expect Your Highness to be so warmhearted.”
Ning Zhao curved his eyes. “No one would fail to pity a beautiful Omega, would they?”
“But he belongs to the Carlos family.” Izel slowly said, “There is no need to trouble the palace doctors.”
The smile at the corner of Ning Zhao’s lips stiffened for a moment, but very quickly, it returned. He stepped forward and gently held Noah’s arm.
“It seems you truly care about him.” Ning Zhao smiled. “Then what if I insist on keeping him?”
“Izel, are you going to defy me for an Omega?”
Izel narrowed his eyes.
The two Alphas silently looked at each other beneath the moonlight.
If Shi Sheng could see this scene, he would definitely shout that the plot was progressing far too quickly.
After an unknown amount of time, Izel lazily let go. “Since Your Highness insists, then as you wish.”
Both Ning Zhao and Noah froze for a moment.
Izel, however, had already pulled away. When he left, he even waved with his back to Ning Zhao.
“His condition doesn’t seem too good, Your Highness.”
Noah was already truly starting to feel unwell. He could not help collapsing toward Ning Zhao. “Your Highness…”
“Someone come.” The smile disappeared from Ning Zhao’s face. “Take him to a doctor.”
The Beta attendants who rushed over pulled away the bewildered Noah. Ning Zhao still stood where he was, the moonlight dyeing his chestnut-colored long hair with a layer of silver radiance.
Meanwhile, Izel strolled out of the palace at an unhurried pace. A small object slid out from his sleeve and landed in his palm. He tossed it up and down a couple of times.
It was something he had smoothly taken from Noah’s pocket earlier when he was comforting him.
Yu Mian’s cufflink.
Shi Sheng woke up surrounded by a pheromone scent that made him feel at ease.
At this moment, he was the only one in the spacious ward.
The air was filled with a scent that was both unfamiliar and familiar. The pheromone scent intertwined with champagne roses should have been cold and sharp, but to Shi Sheng, it felt very gentle.
His whole body was warm, as though the pheromones had woven themselves into a warm cotton quilt and were gently wrapping around him.
[Oh my god, this must be Elaine’s pheromones. So this is what they smell like.]
[I’ve already been soothed. Can a mark be far behind? Shi Sheng, you really are a lucky ghost!]
When Elaine pushed the door open and came in, what he saw was an Omega hugging the blanket and rolling around. After a while, he even twisted himself around like a fried dough twist.
Elaine was rarely stunned. Only when Shi Sheng noticed his arrival did he stop his dough-twist behavior.
“The wound has only just been bandaged. Be careful.”
Elaine was, after all, the Marshal of the Empire who had seen great storms. He calmly sat down by the bed, pulled open the blanket that Shi Sheng had kneaded into a ball, and covered him with it.
“Is there anywhere uncomfortable? Should I call the doctor?”
Shi Sheng’s face was bright red, so embarrassed that he wanted to disappear. He quickly shook his head.
Elaine lowered his eyes. Seeing that Shi Sheng was not paying attention, he reached out and smoothed Shi Sheng’s messy red hair.
“Sorry. Because the situation was urgent, I released some pheromones toward you. Did it make you uncomfortable?”
Shi Sheng shook his head hard again and anxiously gestured in sign language.
Then he remembered that Elaine could not understand and quickly looked around for his voice device.
Elaine held down his hand. “When we came back, I looked for it for you. It was probably left behind in the palace.”
Seeing Shi Sheng freeze slightly, he said in a low voice, “I’ve already notified someone to go back and look for it. Don’t worry.”
Shi Sheng looked into his eyes and lowered his own somewhat dejectedly.
He really wanted to talk to Elaine.
[Why… can’t I make a sound…]
[How can I let Elaine know that I really like his pheromones?]
The young man’s inner voice was like a feather, lightly falling on Elaine’s heart.
“As long as I didn’t offend you.” Elaine said, “About this accident…”
He had only just started speaking when Shi Sheng hurriedly waved both hands and shook his head at Elaine.
But Elaine continued, “It was my fault. I shouldn’t have let you go to the palace alone.”
Shi Sheng shook his head even harder.
He had clearly heard deep self-blame in Elaine’s tone.
He had never seen Elaine like this before.
But he did not want Elaine to blame himself. Everyone said Thanatos was cold and brutal, but Shi Sheng knew what a responsible person Elaine was.
He had been injured, and in name, he was also a member of the Carlos family. Elaine would definitely blame himself.
“Ah…”
Shi Sheng was so anxious that a very low syllable came from his throat.
“Don’t move.” Elaine’s expression changed. He gently held down Shi Sheng’s hand. “The wound will split open.”
Shi Sheng obediently stopped, but his eyes continued to look at Elaine without blinking.
In Elaine’s eyes, the anxious yet obedient Omega had his amber-like eyes wide open, as though he had turned into a little white puppy again.
So small, making one want to hold him in their arms.
