Chapter 15: “Tell Me Where It Hurts”
The key plot point he had forgotten!
An accident would happen at this ball.
Because someone had neglected their duty, the magical beasts kept in the palace hunting grounds would escape.
Noah, having been reborn once, naturally knew about this. But he did not warn anyone in advance to take precautions. Instead, he let it happen.
Because he planned to be injured while protecting the crown prince during this incident, then be brought into the palace to recover.
But now his plan had failed. The magical beast that had attacked the crown prince had already been killed by Izel with a single blade.
Shi Sheng had no time to think carefully. He had to hurry and find his mother.
The palace guards soon rushed over and desperately tried to subdue the out-of-control magical beasts.
Shi Sheng passed through the panicked crowd, searching for Mother Shi. Yu Mian looked back and saw that his second brother was temporarily safe, then gripped his dagger and quickly followed Shi Sheng.
In truth, they had already put some distance between themselves and the nearest magical beast.
But in a certain instant, Shi Sheng suddenly smelled a strange fragrance.
Yu Mian smelled it too. At first, he did not pay it any mind, but immediately after, a fierce hurricane swept over from behind him!
A magical beast that had already been restrained by the guards suddenly went berserk again and instantly broke free of its restraints.
What was strange was that it passed over everyone in the hall and charged straight toward Yu Mian!
Before Yu Mian could throw his dagger, a force from beside him suddenly shoved him out from beneath the beast’s paw.
“…Shi Yi!”
A faint smell of blood spread through the air. Yu Mian’s mind roared, and his heart almost stopped beating.
When Shi Sheng pushed Yu Mian away, the magical beast’s paw struck his neck. Blood instantly dyed half his shoulder red.
But he did not even have time to feel the pain. The magical beast seemed to be drawn by the scent of blood, and its target shifted from Yu Mian to him.
Shi Sheng clutched his neck and rolled forward, dodging the beast’s massive paw as it struck again.
But he had never been good at exercise. Facing such a vicious magical beast, he could only dodge by instinct.
“Shi Yi!”
Yu Mian rushed over, driving his dagger into the back of the magical beast’s head.
However, this kind of attack did almost no damage to such a huge creature. The magical beast still attacked Shi Sheng ferociously.
Mother Shi rushed out of the crowd and saw this scene. She screamed.
Izel pulled his curved blade out of the dead magical beast’s eye and threw it forward with force.
Yu Mian lunged over to save Shi Sheng, but instead, Shi Sheng shielded him behind his own body.
The magical beast’s huge claw swung straight down. Shi Sheng used his body to protect Yu Mian and could only instinctively close his eyes.
A flash of sword light was faster than Izel’s curved blade.
The roar stopped abruptly.
A spray of warm blood splashed onto Shi Sheng’s body.
With a loud boom, the magical beast suddenly collapsed to the ground.
A hand pulled Shi Sheng over with force, and he fell into a cold, sharp embrace.
Shi Sheng belatedly felt the pain. He raised his head blankly and looked at the person who had arrived.
In that instant, it was as if he had returned to many years ago, to that battlefield piled with corpses. Back then, this person had also saved him from danger just like now, standing against the light.
He opened his mouth, but no sound came out.
Never had there been a moment when he regretted it so deeply.
The Omega’s upper body was stained with blood, his face pale, his eyes full of tears. Elaine had never been so panicked before. He immediately lifted Shi Sheng into his arms.
Shi Sheng instinctively grabbed Elaine’s hand. He had almost no strength, like a dying little beast.
Elaine saw the Omega’s trembling lips say something.
He understood.
Shi Sheng was silently calling his name.
“Don’t be afraid. Nothing will happen.” Elaine lowered his head and touched his forehead to Shi Sheng’s, then carried him quickly outside.
“Alried, call a doctor!”
Everything before Shi Sheng’s eyes was blurred. He seemed to see many faces.
His mother’s eyes were full of tears as she stumbled toward him.
Noah stood in place, his expression complicated and lost.
Izel left the crown prince’s side and followed over.
Yu Mian hurried after them, his usually willful and carefree face filled with panic.
Something suddenly flashed through Shi Sheng’s muddled mind.
In Elaine’s arms, he reached out toward Yu Mian.
Yu Mian froze, not knowing what he meant.
Shi Sheng could not speak. He forced a meaningless syllable out of his throat with great effort.
Elaine, however, seemed to understand. In a low voice, he called to Yu Mian, “Your hand. Give it to him.”
Yu Mian instinctively stretched out his hand.
Shi Sheng’s blurred vision tried hard to focus on Yu Mian’s wrist.
[Yu Mian… cufflink…]
[The cufflink… find it… otherwise… danger…]
Thinking this, Shi Sheng began struggling anxiously.
Elaine pressed his palm against the bleeding wound near his neck, held him firmly in his arms, and carried him onto the aircraft. He comforted him in a low voice:
“Nothing will happen. Be good.”
How magical. Elaine could always calm him down.
The strength drained from his entire body, and Shi Sheng finally lost consciousness.
Yu Mian stood outside the aircraft. He lowered his head and saw that the cufflink on his left sleeve had fallen off at some unknown point.
He realized that Shi Sheng had been reminding him.
Thinking of tonight’s accident, Yu Mian knew that this cufflink, which had fallen somewhere unknown, was probably a hidden danger.
He turned and walked back, but Izel held him back.
“Go back and rest.” There was no smile on Izel’s face. “I’ll help you find it.”
The moment he finished speaking, he turned and walked back into the palace, his figure disappearing from Yu Mian’s sight.
