Chapter 10: “He Isn’t Your White Moonlight!”
Seeing this, Shi Sheng’s hand paused. He switched back to the main page of the post and downloaded the photo.
His fingers enlarged Elaine’s face again and again. He looked left and right, and perhaps he had been brainwashed by that comment, but Shi Sheng really did manage to see something in the Alpha’s cold face.
Shi Sheng laughed hehe in his heart and added the photo to his favorites in the album.
When he returned to the trending post, however, he discovered that the direction of the comments had subtly changed.
[There’s nothing to pity about the Shi family. Shi Yi wasn’t anything good to begin with. He suits Thanatos perfectly.]
[It’s just for show. Are people really imagining that Elaine values Shi Yi?]
[It was an imperial marriage decree in the first place. Putting on a show is normal. What else can they do, tell His Majesty directly that they’re unhappy?]
[The funniest thing is people imagining true love. Just watch, Shi Yi will suffer sooner or later.]
[The Carlos family is a bunch of monsters born with defects anyway.]
…
As Shi Sheng continued reading, his originally lying-down posture gradually changed into sitting up.
He enlarged the forum’s comment section in midair, his ten fingers flying rapidly. The page before him quickly turned into a screen full of code.
Before long, he found some patterns.
Among these discussions, the IP addresses of those badmouthing the Carlos family and Elaine were quite varied. They were different people.
But most of the comments singing doom about how badly he was living and insulting Shi Yi came from the same IP.
Shi Sheng pressed his lips together and copied that IP address.
Actually, he could guess who it was.
His cousin, Ji Sui, had been jealous of him and his brother since childhood.
Shi Yi studied information technology at the military academy and was a famous genius top student. Ji Sui could not compare to him, so he often sought a sense of victory from the withdrawn Shi Sheng instead.
But two years ago, after Shi Sheng came of age, Father Shi had arranged for him to meet an Alpha, the son of a cabinet minister, with an excellent family background and appearance.
Ji Sui was so jealous that he tried every possible way to have a relationship with that Alpha.
Shi Sheng had never had any feelings for that Alpha in the first place. Besides, his whole heart was set on marrying Elaine. If that guy was given to Ji Sui, then so be it. He did not care.
He just had not expected that even after he had left the Shi family, Ji Sui still did not want to let him go.
Shi Sheng curled his lips. He did not care about Ji Sui’s petty little tricks.
What he cared about more at this moment was how the public spoke of Elaine.
Shi Sheng clicked back into the hottest post’s comment section and typed his comment with force:
[Elaine is clearly very handsome and very good. He and his Omega will definitely be very happy!]
After sending the comment, Shi Sheng smoothly closed the page, exited the Star Network, pulled the blanket over his head, and went to sleep.
When he woke up again, it was already evening.
The scenery of the Carlos estate was actually very beautiful. Under the setting sun, the clouds hung low, gently brushing against the camphor trees in the garden.
Shi Sheng crossed the garden toward the dining room. Just as he stepped onto the corridor, he suddenly heard voices speaking.
They even sounded a little intense.
His gossip-loving ears immediately perked up. He quickly hid to the side and secretly looked over.
With one look, his eyes instantly widened.
Not far away, beside the flower trellis, Izel had someone held in his arms.
That person looked very thin and weak in front of the tall Izel. Wearing a mask, he looked like an utterly ordinary Beta.
Who else could it be but Noah?
Noah first struggled a little. Seeing that it was useless, he quickly leaned against Izel’s chest and began crying.
“Why are you crying?”
There was a smile at the corner of Izel’s lips, and his fingers gently stroked Noah’s hair.
“Are you unhappy to see me?”
Noah choked out, “Of course I…”
[Of course he’s happy.]
A somewhat familiar voice rang out, and Izel’s movements paused.
[This was originally part of his plan. How could he not be happy?]
[But his next sentence will be to ask you to pretend you never saw him.]
Izel’s gaze turned cold as he looked over. Shi Sheng quickly crouched down and hid behind a pillar.
Fortunately, the sky had already darkened, and Izel did not immediately find where Shi Sheng was.
At this moment, Noah also began speaking hesitantly. “Of course I’m happy, Young Master Izel, but… but please pretend you never saw me. Pretend you don’t know me.”
Izel’s eyes darkened, but nothing unusual could be heard in his voice. “Why?”
“Noah, become my Omega. You won’t have to live like this anymore.”
[Of course he can’t. If he becomes your Omega, how is he supposed to get close to the imperial family and approach the crown prince?]
[But he definitely can’t say that, so of course he’ll say he isn’t worthy of you.]
“But I’m not worthy of you.” Noah looked pitiful as he cried. “And my current identity is only that of a Beta.”
Izel looked at him quietly. “If you’re with me, you can be an Omega openly and honestly.”
Noah shook his head. “No, Young Master. The family head won’t agree to you being with someone like me.”
[Nonsense. Elaine isn’t some old-fashioned patriarch.]
[But you really aren’t anything good. I don’t approve of this marriage!]
Logically speaking, at this moment, Izel should have felt pity for Noah and become even more unwaveringly devoted.
But in reality, his attention had already been completely drawn away by Shi Sheng’s inner voice.
[Hmph. You’re crying so pitifully now, but why didn’t you cry when you spoke badly of Izel in front of the crown prince?]
The look in Izel’s peach-blossom eyes grew colder and colder.
[But of course he can’t make his words too absolute right now. Otherwise, how will he keep using Izel?]
Noah wiped his tears, his expression pitiful yet stubborn. “Young Master, go live your own life. I will… I will always keep you in my heart.”
[Listen to that. Even I’m almost moved.]
[And Izel will foolishly say that he’ll wait for him.]
Izel’s hand, which had originally been gently patting Noah’s shoulder in comfort, stopped. Without showing anything on his face, he withdrew it.
He said something Shi Sheng had not expected.
“Noah, you weren’t like this before.”
Noah froze, even forgetting to cry.
The smile at the corner of Izel’s lips was gentle, but his deliberately slowed tone sounded somewhat subtle. “I remember you once said when we were little that as long as it was something you wanted, no matter how difficult it was, you would never let go.”
“So now that you’re letting go, refusing even to fight for it, it’s because you don’t want me.”
“You don’t like me, do you?”
Noah opened his mouth. “That’s because…”
[That’s because he isn’t your childhood white moonlight at all!]
The smile on Izel’s lips froze.
