Chapter 26: One Kiss
“What did you say?”
When Mo Qi asked if he could kiss him once, Mo Xiu thought for a moment that he had misheard.
But looking at the serious expression on the other man’s face and the way he was staring at his lips, Mo Xiu could no longer convince himself that he had heard wrong.
“Why are you asking that?”
Mo Xiu looked at the man opposite him with confusion.
Mo Qi scratched his head and said, “I just want to try kissing once.”
To see if, after kissing, his cultivation speed would become faster.
Mo Xiu blinked when he heard that, unsure what exactly had sparked the other man’s curiosity—or perhaps a sudden whim.
But in his eyes, Mo Qi making such a request wasn’t excessive.
After all, based on what he knew about Mo Qi’s past experiences, Mo Xiu believed he was still very innocent. Maybe he had seen something when Mo Xiu wasn’t paying attention and now wanted to try it.
“This kind of thing can’t be done casually, you know?” Mo Xiu asked.
Unexpectedly, Mo Qi nodded seriously.
“I know. I won’t do it with anyone else. Only with you.”
Mo Qi certainly wouldn’t want anyone else kissing him. But if the person was Mo Xiu, he felt like it was acceptable.
Hearing this, Mo Xiu felt relieved.
If Mo Qi got curious and went around kissing random people, that would really give him a headache.
Thinking this, Mo Xiu leaned forward and kissed Mo Qi on the forehead.
After pulling back, he coughed lightly and looked a bit awkward.
“There. I kissed you. That’s enough, right?”
Mo Qi touched his forehead and stared blankly at the young man in front of him.
At that moment, his heart was racing wildly inside his chest.
This was the first time he had been so close to someone.
He didn’t know whether it was because the experience was completely new, or because the person in front of him was Mo Xiu.
It felt like a fire had been ignited inside his body, as if something had stirred his very will.
He took a deep breath.
After silently savoring the feeling for a few seconds, Mo Qi spoke again.
“Can I have another one?”
That made Mo Xiu laugh helplessly.
“Anyone who didn’t know better would think you’re tasting dishes here. One bite isn’t enough, you want another…”
Mo Xiu teased him.
But in the end, he couldn’t bring himself to refuse.
So he leaned forward again and kissed the man’s forehead once more.
This time, he stayed there slightly longer than before.
When it ended, Mo Xiu’s cheeks were faintly red.
Before Mo Qi could say anything else, Mo Xiu pulled him into an embrace, lay down with him, and tucked the blanket around them.
“Alright. It’s late. Lie down and get some rest.”
After saying that, Mo Xiu simply closed his eyes.
Seeing him look like he had already fallen asleep and clearly didn’t want to be disturbed, Mo Qi pressed his lips together.
The feeling of being kissed just now had been quite nice.
As for whether his cultivation speed had increased, he couldn’t tell.
Maybe the time had been too short for him to notice.
Originally, he had wanted to continue experimenting.
But since Mo Xiu looked so tired and determined to sleep, there was nothing he could do.
He would just try again next time.
Thinking this, Mo Qi adjusted his position, pulled the man comfortably into his arms, and then closed his eyes as well.
Meanwhile, when Xu Liang heard about Bian Tai suddenly fainting, he hurried over to check on him.
At first, he worried that Bian Tai had said something that angered Mo Xiu and been knocked unconscious.
But when he arrived, Bian Tai had no injuries at all. There was no sign that he had been attacked.
They called a doctor from the base to examine him, but nothing abnormal could be found.
Later that evening, Bian Tai finally woke up.
When Xu Liang asked what had happened, Bian Tai himself had no idea.
He only said that his head had suddenly started hurting unbearably, and then he passed out.
Xu Liang frowned.
After thinking about it for a while, he concluded that Bian Tai probably just played around too much.
He likely lacked restraint in his daily life and had exhausted his body, causing sudden problems.
Xu Liang glanced at him with disgust.
“Watch yourself from now on. Stop overindulging in lust and making a fool of yourself.”
After leaving that remark, he walked away impatiently.
Bian Tai rubbed his head gloomily, unable to understand what had gone wrong.
He was already annoyed that the guy he had taken a fancy to—Xie Wu—had insisted on coming along halfway.
And now he heard that the man had stayed at Mo Xiu’s place.
How was he supposed to make a move now?
That had been prey he had been watching for a long time.
If he didn’t get a taste, he would feel extremely unwilling!
As the moon set and the sun rose again, sunlight once more illuminated the entire Shanhe Base.
When Mo Qi woke up, he found himself alone in the bed.
Sounds came from the kitchen—it was probably Mo Xiu preparing breakfast.
So Mo Qi got up, dressed himself, and stretched his body.
What surprised him was that when he stood by the window and stretched, he saw Xie Wu still working in the field outside.
The man had most likely not slept the entire night.
He had already finished all the work assigned to his plot of land and was now continuing to cultivate land that others hadn’t finished.
Because he had been working for so long, his face looked pale.
His clothes were dusty, and the hand holding the hoe was trembling slightly, yet he still didn’t stop.
Mo Qi rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
He didn’t sense any malice from this person.
If only the man wasn’t trying to steal his meal ticket.
Still, someone like this might not be impossible to keep.
After all, Mo Qi had always liked people with strong execution ability.
Such people could help handle many things.
Just as he was thinking this, Mo Xiu walked out of the kitchen with a cup of hot milk made from milk powder.
Seeing Mo Qi by the window, he handed it to him.
Following the direction of Mo Qi’s gaze, he also noticed Xie Wu downstairs and was surprised that he still hadn’t left.
“Should I send him away?”
Thinking about how Mo Qi had been unhappy yesterday when Bian Tai brought people over, Mo Xiu asked.
Mo Qi didn’t answer.
He simply looked silently at the young man in front of him.
For some reason, compared to his own answer, he was more curious about Mo Xiu’s choice.
He wanted to know whether Mo Xiu would send Xie Wu away for his sake, even after the man had worked all night.
Mo Xiu simply smiled.
He reached out and ruffled Mo Qi’s hair.
Mo Qi’s little thoughts were easy for Mo Xiu to guess.
He didn’t dislike it—in fact, he found it cute.
It seemed the more he “raised” Mo Qi, the more interesting he became.
Now he had even learned to stay silent and just signal with his eyes, as if testing whether Mo Xiu could read his mind.
Honestly, this personality made Mo Qi feel even more like a cat.
Without any hesitation, Mo Xiu called Cheng Cheng over and asked him to handle the matter.
In the end, Xie Wu still left.
But before leaving, Cheng Cheng—following Mo Xiu’s instructions—gave him many vegetables and fruits to take with him as compensation for the work he had done the previous night.
In the base, these foods could be exchanged for supplies.
For ordinary people, even though working all night was hard, receiving these items was definitely a profitable deal.
Yet Xie Wu’s mood remained heavy.
Because he knew clearly that Mo Xiu didn’t want to keep him.
And he also knew what awaited him next.
If he couldn’t find another backer, the only way to escape Bian Tai might be to leave Shanhe Base.
But could he really survive long enough to reach another base alone?
The probability was extremely small.
Did that mean he would truly have no choice but to submit to Bian Tai’s oppression?
Xie Wu was unwilling a thousand times over.
Yet he still took the things Cheng Cheng gave him and left with a dejected expression.
Seeing his appearance, Cheng Cheng felt uncomfortable even though he didn’t know the reason.
He walked up to him and asked softly:
“Um… Xie Wu, are the things too heavy? Do you want me to help carry them? I’m not busy, I could walk you back.”
Xie Wu shook his head.
Looking at the boy with multi-colored dyed hair in front of him, he noticed the other’s pale eyes—clear like glass, untouched by the apocalypse.
Such eyes were rare even before the end of the world.
Seeing this, Xie Wu didn’t want him to know about those disgusting matters.
He forced a small smile.
“It’s okay. They’re not heavy. Thank you. And I live nearby, in a white RV near the edge of the East District. I’ll get there soon.”
That RV had originally been something he bought with a loan.
Back then, he planned to adopt some stray animals and thought a camper would be convenient so he could travel with them.
But before that plan could happen, the apocalypse arrived.
Since then, the RV had become his long-term home.
Lowering his eyes to hide the bitterness in his heart, Xie Wu left.
Cheng Cheng watched his back and felt uneasy.
When he turned around, he saw Mo Xiu and Mo Qi standing not far away.
“Boss…”
Mo Xiu walked over and patted his shoulder.
“Don’t worry. He’ll be fine.”
After all, in his previous life, that guy had shown a lot of courage.
Even though he hadn’t managed to poison Bian Tai, he had cut off the man’s manhood, which had made Mo Xiu feel extremely satisfied.
In his previous life, Xie Wu’s tragedy began because of Bian Tai.
Now, Mo Xiu only needed to make sure Bian Tai wouldn’t live long enough to harm him.
Once he decided, Mo Xiu acted immediately.
That same day he went out to investigate Bian Tai’s situation.
He learned that after being scolded by Xu Liang, Bian Tai told the people around him that he planned to restrain himself and cultivate his character for a while.
He wouldn’t go out partying or visiting certain places for the time being.
This decision actually suited Mo Xiu perfectly.
Although Mo Xiu scoffed at the idea of Bian Tai cultivating himself, the fact that he stayed home made things easier.
It meant Mo Xiu could deal with him conveniently.
Better sooner than later.
That night, Mo Xiu acted as usual, coaxing Mo Qi to sleep.
After confirming that his breathing had become steady, he quietly slipped out of the house in the deep night and headed toward Bian Tai’s residence.
