Street Racing in Another World

Chapter 97: Street Racing in Another World

Chu Feng and Illya spent a few days in the modern world, then returned to the other world.

Chu Feng stepped out of his newly bought off-road vehicle.

Motorcycles were convenient, but when it came to comfort, nothing beat a car. The weather had been getting colder, and riding a bike in the wind stung his face. So Chu Feng decided to bring over a car.

As soon as the car landed, the nearby Highland tribe members, who had been working, all stopped and stared in awe.

The imposing off-road vehicle instantly caught everyone’s attention.

Chui Shi told the others to get back to work and not slack off, but he himself couldn’t stop staring at the car.

Chu Feng stepped out and shivered.

He frowned. “It got this cold in just a few days?”

A gust of cold wind hit, and he felt a deep chill.

Illya frowned. “It’s late autumn now.”

Chu Feng looked at him. “Aren’t you cold?”

Illya answered casually, “I was at first, but I wrapped myself in gray mist. That helps.”

Chu Feng thought: Illya’s powers really are convenient. Not just for fighting or sensing emotions—but even for temperature control. No wonder he’s obsessed with fridges but indifferent to air conditioning.

After a few minutes in the wind, Chu Feng adjusted to the temperature.

His constitution has definitely improved, he thought. Before, he’d be freezing. Maybe after more training, he could go through winter in just a shirt.

“Boss, you’re back!” Chui Shi greeted him.

Chu Feng nodded. “It’s gotten a lot colder recently.”

Chui Shi replied, “A couple of days ago, while you were away, we had a fierce cold wind that knocked down a bunch of trees. It suddenly got much colder.”

“Is it a cold front?” Chu Feng asked.

Chui Shi frowned, confused. “What’s a cold front?”

Chu Feng realized Chui Shi didn’t understand and waved it off. “Never mind. With the weather dropping so fast, has it affected the work?”

Chui Shi patted his chest confidently. “This is nothing! It’s not really cold yet. Plus, our clothes are thick—it won’t affect the construction.”

He thought: In past years, the real concern wasn’t the cold—it was hunger. But this year’s different.

Chu Feng smiled. “It’s okay if things slow down a bit.”

Chui Shi grinned. “We’ve got enough food—no one’s slacking off.”

Chu Feng looked around. “Are you building a city wall?”

Chui Shi nodded and said, “It was Kalan’s idea. He said there might be a beast tide this winter, so building the city walls first would make the castle safer for people to live in later.”

Chu Feng nodded. “That makes sense. Let’s follow his suggestion.”

Anyway, the house he was going to live in was already finished. The others could be built slowly.

“Find a few people to help unload the things from the car,” Chu Feng said.

Chui Shi nodded. “Alright.”

Chu Feng had decided to officially settle in the palace district and even had a warehouse cleared out. Since it was opened, he had to stock it with something—otherwise, it wouldn’t live up to its name.

Chu Feng brought quite a bit of food. The Highlanders carrying box after box of snacks were stumbling under the weight.

“Boss, you’re amazing! Brought so much food again,” Shi Li praised.

“Well, big household, many mouths to feed.”
The Highlanders had huge appetites—probably too much for an ordinary person to handle.

Illya glanced at Chu Feng and said, “By next year, you won’t need to bring this much food anymore.”

Chu Feng nodded. “That’s true.”

He had brought the shaman many types of crop seeds. Since he arrived late in the year, the climate wasn’t right for planting most of them. But by next spring, large-scale cultivation would be possible.

Illya had also brought along a cookbook and generously gave a copy to Shaman Qiu Luo.

Qiu Luo was deeply interested in all the foods in the cookbook and was eager to grow the ingredients.
With her abilities, Cresent Village could likely resolve its food issues next year—and might even supply the Highlanders and Dwarves.

While Chu Feng and Illya were talking, Fei Ying swooped down from the sky.

Illya looked at him, puzzled. “What’s going on? Did something happen?”

Fei Ying frowned. “Two humans broke into the village.”

Illya frowned. “How?”

Crescent Village’s location was very hidden—without a guide, it was hard to find.

Fei Ying scratched his head. “I don’t know what to do with them.”
Normally, the villagers would’ve wanted to kill them, but after Chu Feng’s example, he wasn’t sure that was the right move anymore.

Illya asked, “What’s their situation now?”

Fei Ying hesitated. “They’re being held. We can’t let them run off and talk.”

Illya looked at Chu Feng. “What do you think?”

Chu Feng blinked. “Why are you asking me?”

He felt awkward. If he released them, that could be dangerous. The humans he’d purchased wore slave rings, and their lives were under his control—but these two weren’t. If released, who knew what they’d say?

Illya blinked back. “You’re human, aren’t you?”

Chu Feng rolled his eyes. “There are lots of humans in the world.”

Illya nodded. “True.”
“There are good ones and bad ones—you can’t generalize…”

Illya looked at Chu Feng. “Let’s head back to the village and take a look.”

Chu Feng nodded. “Okay.”

Illya smiled. “Weren’t you going to teach me to drive? Teach me first.”

Back in the modern world, Chu Feng always drove—Illya had long wanted to try but had backed off when Chu Feng warned him that unlicensed driving could cause trouble.

Chu Feng nodded. “Alright.”

Since those humans were already locked up, there was no rush.
The castle construction area had plenty of open space—perfect for practice.

Under Chu Feng’s guidance, Illya started the car and drove it forward.
Though he’d never driven before, Illya had watched Chu Feng closely many times and quickly got the hang of it.

He looked at Chu Feng excitedly. “Does this mean I know how to drive now?”

Chu Feng nodded. “More or less.”

“Then can I drive back to the village?” Illya asked eagerly.

Chu Feng looked at his sparkling eyes—he was like a kid who’d just gotten a new toy and wanted to show it off.

Chu Feng nodded. “Sure. Just drive slowly—you just learned.”

Hearing that, Illya nodded—then sped off.

The Highlanders watched the car drive away, stunned.

Molka stared at it in disbelief. “That iron lump… can run.”

Shi Li nodded. “Yeah. And it runs really fast!”

Molka looked at him. “Aren’t you shocked?”

Shi Li thought for a moment. “Not really.”

After all, Chu Feng was full of surprises. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary when it involved him.

Molka: …

Shi Li was actually shocked too—but didn’t show it as dramatically as Molka. He thought: I’m experienced now. I can’t act like a newbie like Molka…

Illya, driving excitedly, began going faster and faster.

Sitting beside him, Chu Feng grew a little concerned. “Illya, we’re not in a rush. Slow down.”

Illya replied calmly, “Fei Ying is here.”

Chu Feng frowned. “Fei Ying?”

He leaned out the window and saw Fei Ying soaring in the sky above.

“He’s chasing us,” Illya said.

Chu Feng: …
So Illya is trying to race Fei Ying?

One was flying in the sky, one was running on the ground—there was no real basis for comparison. Was there even a need to compare?

As soon as Illya drove into Crescent Village, he attracted a crowd of onlookers. Afraid of causing an accident, he slowed down. A few village kids chased the car wildly, running as if they had wheels of fire under their feet.

Seeing the kids sprinting toward them, Chu Feng said seriously to Illya, “Don’t forget to take the car keys out.”

Someone had previously tried to secretly ride his motorcycle—who knows if someone might try to drive his car this time.

Illya nodded. “I know.”

He got out of the car. Tilly looked on enviously and said, “Illya, is this the thing you were talking about—the vehicle that runs on the ground? It’s amazing!”

Illya smiled. “More or less. Where are the two people you captured?”

Tilly frowned. “They’re locked up. They’re difficult to deal with—one of them’s an ability-user, and a combat type at that.”

At the mention of an ability-user, Illya’s expression turned serious.

Chu Feng was surprised. “An ability-user?” That was important information—Fei Ying didn’t even mention it. How strange that one had wandered in.

“They’re not elf hunters, are they?” Illya asked.

Tilly shook her head. “Probably not. They seemed to have been fleeing from someone and stumbled into our village.”

“What about the people chasing them?” Two unknown humans were already troublesome—if a group of pursuers showed up, it’d be even worse.

“They’re dead. Killed by the ability-user. If she hadn’t used up most of her power, we wouldn’t have caught her so easily,” Tilly said.

Illya nodded. This might be more troublesome than it looks, he thought.
