Visiting Grandpa

Chapter 79: Visiting Grandpa

Castle construction zone.

“Boss! You’re here!” Chui Shi greeted Chu Feng enthusiastically.

Chu Feng nodded. “Looks like the eastern annex is almost finished?”

“Yes! Your room is already set up. Boss, are you planning to move in?”

Chu Feng nodded. “Yeah, that’s the plan.”

“Want to go take a look at your room?”

“Sure.”

Chu Feng followed Chui Shi inside. The walls had been painted, and the room was spacious and fully furnished—bed, wardrobe, chairs, everything. The furniture had a blend of elven elegance and modern practicality.

“Nice work,” Chu Feng said.

“The bed and wardrobe were sent over from Crescent Village,” Chui Shi said.

Chu Feng nodded. “Oh, I see.”

The craftsmanship of the furniture was unexpectedly beautiful, clearly influenced by elven design.

Chu Feng had brought Duvean many booklets filled with designs. He hadn’t been picky when choosing them, so some basic furniture blueprints had gotten included by accident. They weren’t much use to Duvean, but for Sterling and the other beastkin craftsmen, they had proven quite valuable.

Recently, many people in Crescent Village have been studying various styles of furniture. The bed and cabinet in Chu Feng’s room were likely made by a few half-beasts from the village.

Chui Shi scratched his head and chuckled foolishly. “The folks from Crescent Village really are skilled with their hands! We rough highlanders could never make such fine-looking furniture.”

Chu Feng gave Chui Shi a glance and said reassuringly, “The Highland Tribe has its own strengths too.”

Chui Shi laughed again, embarrassed. “Oh, not really…”

When Chui Shi came out, Shi Li excitedly rushed up to him.

“Big bro, is Boss Chu here?” Chui Shi nodded. “Yes, and it looks like he’s planning to stay.”

Shi Li became even more excited. “If that’s the case, great! If he chooses to stay here, then all the supplies he brings will likely stay here too. That’ll save us a lot of trouble moving things back and forth.”

Chui Shi nodded. “Exactly.”

Every time they fetched supplies from Crescent Village, it took a lot of effort—though with the Highlanders’ strength, it wasn’t unbearable.

Shi Li then whispered mysteriously, “Big bro, I heard that as long as someone sleeps with Chu Feng, they can go across the sea.”

Chui Shi glared at him. “Stop talking nonsense. Chu Feng probably prefers elf types—delicate and beautiful.”

Shi Li puffed out his cheeks. “Humans all seem to like elves. But really, Highland women are better—strong, fertile. Elf girls are too dainty. Pretty, but useless.”

Chui Shi rolled his eyes. “Enough with that nonsense.”

Shi Li shrugged. “Big bro, I heard Chu Feng came here because he was scared by all the people in Crescent Village who wanted to sleep with him. He’s hiding here for safety.”

Chui Shi gave him a dark look and snapped, “That’s enough. Go get to work. Stop with these ridiculous ideas.”
Shi Li sighed, “Okay, okay.”

Chu Feng stood on the top floor of the castle annex, overlooking the surroundings, feeling refreshed and clear-headed.

A knock at the door interrupted his thoughts.

“Chui Shi? What is it?”

Chu Feng looked past him and saw two Highland girls standing behind him, which gave him a bad feeling.

Chui Shi lowered his head, looking awkward. “Boss… do you want someone to serve you? These two girls are from our Highland Tribe. They’re strong and handy…”

Chu Feng waved him off, interrupting. “No need. I don’t need servants.”
He glanced at the two girls fluttering their lashes and thought: Are they cross-eyed or trying to flirt?

Chui Shi frowned, hesitating. “But don’t nobles usually have lots of attendants? They could help with manual labor…”

Chu Feng shook his head. “I’m not a noble.”

He was just an overworked office worker—definitely not someone who needed servants.

Despite Chui Shi’s repeated offers, Chu Feng politely declined, and Chui Shi had no choice but to leave with the girls.

Chu Feng rubbed his forehead, thinking: Not only are people in Crescent Village eyeing me, now the Highland Tribe is too. Are the dwarves going to try something next?

He took a deep breath and couldn’t help thinking of Illya again.

Since he’d arrived, Illya had handled so many things for him. Now that Illya was gone, everything seemed more troublesome.

When Chui Shi came out, he bumped into Shi Li.

“Big bro, Chu Feng didn’t want them?”

Chui Shi shook his head. “Nope.”

Shi Li sighed. “I knew it. We even sent the most beautiful girls in the tribe, and he still wasn’t interested?”

Chui Shi shook his head. “I said it wouldn’t work, but Father insisted on trying.”
He added, “Chu Feng’s standards are way too high. Even Shi Xiaohua didn’t catch his eye?”

Shi Li muttered, “If he’s not interested, that means I still have a chance.”

Chui Shi gave him a knock on the head. “Keep dreaming.”

Shi Li waved his fist. “Don’t look down on me! I’ll become a warrior of our tribe!”

Chui Shi replied, “Forget that for now—just focus on your work. If you can’t even support yourself, no girl in the tribe will want you, let alone Shi Xiaohua.”

Shi Li nodded glumly. “I’m trying. I’m already working hard to earn labor tokens.”

Chui Shi nodded. “The weather’s getting colder. From what Boss Chu said, soon workers will each be given a blanket.”

Shi Li said excitedly, “I touched that blanket—it’s super warm! Way better than animal hides!”

Chu Feng had placed one blanket in the shop—it cost 100 work tokens.

Shi Li had touched it but couldn’t bring himself to buy it.

His big brother was a foreman, his second brother had powers, and out of the three, Shi Li had the lowest pay.

He felt that his two brothers treated him well, but when it came to work tokens, they suddenly got stingy. No brotherly love there.

Soon after, Chu Feng reached his next crossing-over time—and he practically fled from the castle.

He brought processed tiger skin and tiger bones back to his villa.

He’d originally wanted to bring them last time, but it was a rushed trip, and he only brought Illya.

The tanned tiger skin felt incredibly smooth.

Chu Feng stood with his hands on his hips, looking at it, thinking: Such a huge tiger skin—if I sold it, it would fetch at least a few million.

Then he reconsidered: A few million? That’s too little. Not worth the effort.

He locked the tiger skin in a side chest and tossed the tiger bones in the fridge.

Chu Feng looked up online what medicinal herbs were needed to make tiger bone wine and decided to make a trip to the pharmacy.

Chu Feng handed the list over to the pharmacy staff. The pharmacist glanced at the list of herbs and asked with some curiosity, “Is this for brewing tiger bone wine?”

Chu Feng’s brow twitched slightly. This pharmacy’s people really know their stuff—one glance and they figured it out?

The pharmacist continued, “Young man, did you somehow get your hands on tiger bones?”

Chu Feng smiled and replied, “I’m just running errands—getting this for an elder in the family. I don’t actually know what these herbs are for.”

The staff nodded and packed up the herbs. Chu Feng walked out of the pharmacy and finally let out a breath of relief. This world is vast, full of hidden experts—you really can’t underestimate anyone.

Following instructions he found online, Chu Feng spent quite a bit of effort preparing several jars of tiger bone wine. Once finished, he felt an unexpected sense of accomplishment. He sealed the jars away, planning to check on them later.

With that done, Chu Feng gathered a few boxes of alcohol and nutritional supplements from home—he was going to visit his grandfather…

At Lin Shumin’s home

Lin Shumin looked at Chu Feng with excitement.
“You’re here, Xiao Feng!”

Chu Feng nodded. “Yep.”

Watching Chu Feng bring in armfuls of stuff, Lin Shumin looked both pleased and a bit helpless. “You didn’t have to buy so much.”

Chu Feng smiled. “It’s fine—I’ve got money now.”

Lin Shumin looked him up and down with satisfaction. “You’re looking more handsome these days!”

“Really?”

Lin Shumin chuckled. “Of course! You were always good-looking. Now that you’ve cleaned up, you look like a celebrity.”

Chu Feng gave an embarrassed smile. Compared to the stunning people in Crescent Village, I’m really nothing special, he thought. But then again, a bunch of them did want to sleep with him—maybe it wasn’t just for the perks of traveling to his world; maybe he actually looked decent too.

Lin Shumin leaned in and asked, “Xiao Feng, is it true you won three million?”

Chu Feng nodded. “Yeah. After taxes, it was a bit over two million. I bought a house and a car—there’s not much left.”

Lin Shumin frowned. “At your age, having a house and car already is a big deal. Sure, it was lucky, but not everyone gets lucky like that. You’re doing great.”

Chu Feng nodded. “That’s what I think too.”

Lin Shumin continued, “Yuanyuan said she saw you with a friend last time?”

Chu Feng nodded. “Yeah, he was shopping for clothes and asked me to come help.”

“Did you pay for him?” Lin Shumin asked.

Chu Feng shook his head. “No, he just forgot his wallet, so I paid temporarily.”

Chu Feng kept to himself the fact that he was kind of dating someone from another world—that would be way too wild for his grandfather to handle right now. If he ever told him, it’d need to be done gradually.

Lin Shumin nodded, visibly relieved. “I figured. Your cousin Yuanyuan always talks nonsense. She’s a teacher too—you’d think she’d know better than to spread rumors.”

Chu Feng thought to himself, She really is like a gossiping aunt—doesn’t suit her job at all.
