Chapter 6: Back to the Wooden Hut
With his job gone and his shopping done in two days, Chu Feng suddenly found himself with free time.
He decided to stay home and research tips for jungle exploration.
As the lightning-shaped mark on his arm grew fainter, Chu Feng guessed that another crossover was about to happen.
His first two crossings had been disorienting. But this time, he saw a narrow tunnel ahead of him. His suitcase seemed a bit too large, so he adjusted its position to squeeze through.
After a wave of dizziness, Chu Feng found himself back in the small wooden hut.
Recognizing the familiar hut, he felt somewhat relieved.
He figured the first crossing location had been random, but afterward, the portal seemed to send him back to wherever he had disappeared from previously.
That meant he needed to choose his location carefully before each crossing.
“You’re back.”
Chu Feng turned and saw Illya.
The light in the room was dim, but Illya’s star-like eyes sparkled in the dark.
Being stared at so intently made Chu Feng nervous.
After disappearing from the hut so suddenly last time, who knew what Illya had thought—maybe he believed Chu Feng had run away. Who knew whether he’d looked for him in the past few days?
Illya looked at Chu Feng and murmured, “So what Duo Duo and Gray said was true.”
Previously, when Duo Duo and Gray said Chu Feng had suddenly appeared, Illya didn’t believe it. How could someone just appear out of nowhere? But now, he did.
Illya’s eyes filled with amazement as he looked at the backpack and suitcase Chu Feng had brought with him.
Chu Feng smiled at him, then opened the suitcase and took out a set of knives to give to Illya.
Illya’s eyes lit up when he saw the knives.
Chu Feng had carefully chosen this set of knives—it cost 1,500 yuan. Not expensive, but for someone as frugal as him, it was a major splurge.
Illya made the blades dance in his hands, his face full of excitement.
Watching his movements, Chu Feng felt a chill run down his neck.
The cold glint of the blades flashed past his throat, making his hairs stand on end. What was I thinking, giving this little reaper a whole set of weapons?
Illya noticed Chu Feng’s reaction and couldn’t help but laugh.
Seeing Illya smile, Chu Feng’s heart skipped a beat. Illya was already good-looking, but when he smiled, he was even more stunning. All this time, Illya had kept a cold face—Chu Feng had never seen him smile before.
Illya put the knives away and turned his attention to the suitcase.
He was curious about Chu Feng’s suitcase but didn’t try to snatch it like last time.
Chu Feng took out some clothes and handed them over.
Illya looked at the clothes with a strange expression—remembering how he had stripped Chu Feng of his clothes before.
He had traded them for saltstone, and thinking back now, he still felt a bit regretful.
Illya accepted the clothes and then looked at what Chu Feng was currently wearing.
Chu Feng tensed. Wait, don’t tell me… Thankfully, Illya seemed to lose interest in his clothes, and Chu Feng let out a huge sigh of relief.
Illya was also curious about the other things in the suitcase and stared at them with eager eyes.
Chu Feng had no choice but to patiently explain the use of each item to him.
He pulled out a flashlight and turned it on, instantly brightening the whole hut.
It was already near evening, and the hut was getting dark. With the flashlight on, the room was suddenly full of light.
Illya’s eyes widened in amazement. He had originally suspected Chu Feng was a noble, but now he wasn’t so sure—human nobles typically used luminous stones for lighting.
Luminous stones were priceless. Minor nobles couldn’t afford them at all; only great nobles had the means to collect them.
Illya suddenly snatched the flashlight from Chu Feng and kept turning it on and off, on and off.
Watching him play with it like a toy, Chu Feng felt helpless. Maybe I should’ve brought more than one flashlight. Now that he’s got it, who knows if I’ll ever get it back.
Illya held the flashlight, shining it all over the place, his face full of excitement.
Chu Feng thought to himself, Illya always acts so mature, but now he’s totally showing his true colors!
