Major Shopping Trip

Chapter 5: Major Shopping Trip

Three and a half days passed in the blink of an eye, and suddenly Chu Feng found himself once again standing in front of the door to his own house.

Looking at the familiar front door, he was overcome with emotion, nearly in tears.

He was finally, finally home. If not for the fact that he was still wearing a grass skirt, he might’ve believed the whole “other world” thing had just been a dream. But this outfit—truly embarrassing.

Chu Feng looked around and saw that it was nearly dark and no one was around. He let out a sigh of relief.

He took a deep breath and thought, Thank god no one saw me like this. If someone had, I’d probably end up on the news. People might even think I snapped and went crazy.

Chu Feng opened the door and returned to his room.

Lying in his familiar bed, he finally felt at peace.

As he calmed down, his stomach started rumbling. He grabbed a bucket of instant noodles and cooked them.

After spending over three days in the other world, all he’d eaten were fruits—nothing but fruits.

Now, even instant noodles tasted like the most delicious thing in the world.

At first, he had actually enjoyed all the fruit. But after a few days, Chu Feng felt like he was turning into a rabbit.

He was human—a meat-eating animal. Living off fruit alone was just wrong!

What Chu Feng didn’t realize was that his all-fruit diet was his own doing.

Because he had refused to drink blood and said he wanted to eat fruit, Gray mistakenly assumed he didn’t like meat and only liked fruit. So Gray had gone to great lengths to gather as many different fruits as possible for him. It had actually taken quite a bit of effort.

Chu Feng took out his phone, which had long since run out of battery.

He plugged it in and charged it for a bit.

The time displayed on the phone confirmed it: he had been gone for almost 80 hours. That meant he had indeed spent over 80 hours in another world.

Chu Feng lifted his arm and saw that the lightning-shaped mark was still there—except now it had changed from gray to a purplish-red.

Chu Feng guessed: Maybe once the mark turns transparent again, I’ll cross over once more. If that happens… well, it might not be so bad. I could bring back some things from that world to sell here.

He hadn’t been prepared at all for his last trip. But now, with that experience behind him, he was determined to be ready next time—no more stumbling around like a fool.

Chu Feng flipped through his contacts and saw a ton of missed calls, all from the courier company.

I skipped work for three days without a word, Chu Feng thought. Who knows what they’re thinking now? I should probably give them a call to explain.

As soon as the call connected, a barrage of curses came through the line.

“Chu Feng! Where the hell have you been, you brat?! We’ve been calling nonstop! Don’t bother coming back to work! You’ve skipped three days—you’re fined 300 yuan and your salary is canceled for the month!”

Hearing that he’d been fired, Chu Feng didn’t bother listening to any more of Manager Jia’s tirade and hung up right away.

He didn’t need to be fired—he wasn’t planning to go back anyway. If he was going to keep traveling between worlds, he’d be disappearing often, and that would be hard to hide.

Thinking about the pay he’d just lost, Chu Feng felt a little regretful. Luckily, it was still early in the month—he had just gotten his wages a few days ago, so he’d only lost two days’ worth of work. Not too bad.

If it were any ordinary day, Chu Feng would have agonized for a long time over getting his wages docked. But after just experiencing something as earth-shattering as traveling to another world, he was surprisingly calm about it.

Chu Feng took out a few deposit slips from a box. He didn’t spend much day to day, and over the years, he’d saved up 120,000 yuan.

Looking at the slips, Chu Feng began planning to buy some wilderness survival gear.

He opened his phone and searched for what equipment to get. The advice online was all over the place, but it all sounded reasonable to him.

Chu Feng went to the bank and withdrew 10,000 yuan. First, he bought a wristwatch. Nowadays, with everyone using phones, watches had become more like accessories, and many didn’t use them anymore. But since there was no signal in that other world, a watch was still necessary. Back in the wooden hut, not knowing the time had been a real problem for him.

At the supermarket, he bought chocolate, fruit candy, vitamin C, salt, lighters, whistles…

He also picked up a few plastic food containers. He’d noticed the elf brothers used stone bowls, which were heavy and hard to carry. Containers would be much more convenient and lighter.

Chu Feng also bought a multi-functional military shovel and an electric baton for self-defense.

After buying all these things, he went to the market and picked up four sets of children’s clothes, two sets of adult clothing, plus some underwear and shoes.

The experience of being stripped before still haunted him.

Remembering how much the elf boy had liked the zipper on his jacket, Chu Feng made sure all the clothes he bought this time had zippers.

All in all, he spent nearly 3,000 yuan—cheaper than he expected.
