Duoduo’s Honey Water

Chapter 45: Duoduo’s Honey Water

Illya ate with gusto, clearly enjoying the fried rice.

Seeing his puffed-up cheeks, Chu Feng felt proud and served himself a bowl too.

The mix of fried rice and smoked meat was incredibly tasty—Chu Feng was impressed with his own skills.

“Instant noodles!” Illya suddenly said.

Chu Feng glanced outside. “That smell’s strong…”

He figured Grey had started delivering noodles, and now tons of people were cooking them. Hundreds of packets at once—that smell would be intense.

Illya looked at him. “Why aren’t you eating noodles?”

Chu Feng shook his head. “Instant noodles are for when you have no other choice.”

Illya tilted his head and scolded, “You’re too picky!”

Chu Feng: “…” Sure, instant noodles taste good at first, but they get old fast.

Grey returned from his deliveries. “All done!”

Chu Feng nodded. “Thanks for the hard work.”

“No problem.” Grey sniffed the air. “What are you two eating?”

Chu Feng waved his hand and said, “I made some fried rice. If you want to eat, there’s still some left in the pot.”

Grey looked at him in surprise. “You cooked? You can actually cook?”

Chu Feng: “…” Was it really that strange for him to know how to cook?

“Is your food even edible?” Grey asked suspiciously.

Chu Feng: “…” This brat really had no taste! “It won’t kill you. If you don’t want it, forget it.”

Grey puffed up his cheeks. “I’ll give it a try.”

He grabbed a bowl and quickly ate more than half of it, then exclaimed in admiration, “It’s delicious! I didn’t expect you to be this good at cooking.”

Chu Feng: “…” Finally, this brat showed some sense.

In the Crescent Village.

“Is it ready yet?” Delice asked eagerly, watching Shirley.

Shirley glanced at her and said, “Almost. Duoduo said after pouring in boiling water, we should wait a bit.”

Delice shook her head. “Duoduo talked up this instant noodle stuff so much, I want to see what it actually tastes like.”

Shirley sniffed. “It smells great! I think it’s ready.”

Delice took a bite and said in surprise, “It’s actually really good!”

Shirley nodded. “No wonder Duoduo couldn’t stop thinking about it.”

Delice puffed her cheeks. “Where are Loga and Morel? Haven’t seen them lately.”

Delice was beautiful, and kids in the village often gathered around her. But lately, many of them had found new interests, leaving her and Shirley alone.

Shirley said, “Loga probably went to see Duoduo. As for Morel, I heard he’s been going to Duvean—wants to learn carving.”

Delice rolled her eyes. “Loga’s a half-werewolf, yet he hangs around Duoduo, a half-rabbit, begging for food. How shameful for the wolf clan.”

Beastmen were different from wild animals; even if their animal forms were natural enemies, they usually lived peacefully. Still, enemies were enemies. Usually, beastmen with clashing animal traits lived far apart.

“And that Morel—clumsy as he is—wants to learn carving?”

Shirley tilted her head. “It seems like a lot of people are learning carving lately.”

Delice puffed her cheeks. “Guess so.” That outsider seemed to have gifted Duvean many things. Duvean especially loved chips and traded the rest.

“Yesterday, Uncle Shaya helped that human move stuff,” Shirley said.

Delice grumbled, “Don’t mention that dumb bear. He was all talk about chasing the human out, now look at him—eagerly doing chores.”

A round figure came running up in the distance.

“There you are!” the little bear Pyne said.

Shirley asked, “Why are you in such a hurry?”

“I’m going to Duoduo’s. Want to come with me?” Pyne asked.

Delice lifted her head. “Why go there?”

Pyne’s eyes lit up. “Duoduo got honey! He promised to make honey water for everyone today. A lot of people are already there. They say it’s sweet—like sugar.”

“Another thing from that human?” Delice asked.

Pyne nodded excitedly. “Yep! Only that human brings weird and amazing things. He’s amazing!”

Delice: “…” Bears—so easy to control with sweets.

“You coming?” Pyne asked.

Delice huffed, “No.”

“Okay, I’m going. If I’m late, I might miss it,” Pyne said.

Delice hesitated, then muttered, “Fine, I’ll go.”

Pyne nodded. “Let’s hurry, or someone else might take it all.”

Delice: “…”
