Buying a Shop

Chapter 35: Buying a Shop

With a flash of white light, Chu Feng reappeared inside his newly purchased villa.

He looked at the pile of wood carvings around him and smirked.

After charging his phone, he saw a bunch of missed calls and gave Chu Anzhi a ring. The two arranged to meet up for a big meal.

“Brother Feng, where the heck did you go? I couldn’t reach you for days—I thought you’d been kidnapped by some pyramid scheme,” Chu Anzhi said anxiously.

Chu Feng gave him a side-eye. “Can’t you think anything good about me?”

Chu Anzhi scratched his head awkwardly. “I was just worried, you know?”

“I’m doing just fine,” Chu Feng said impatiently. “You stay out of trouble, study hard, be a good kid. If that’s too much, go get a girlfriend or something.”

Chu Anzhi shook his head, a bit downcast. “As for girlfriends… I’ve given up on that.”

Chu Feng: “…” Did his cousin really get his heart broken once and now thinks he’s seen through all worldly attachments?

Kids’ emotions come and go quickly—he wanted to die just a few days ago, and now he’s already “transcended.” Wouldn’t be surprising if he found someone new in a few more days. Life really is full of twists and turns.

“Big cousin, where exactly did you go?” Chu Anzhi pressed on, refusing to give up.

“Why are you asking so many questions?” Chu Feng replied irritably.

Chu Anzhi rolled his eyes. “You think I want to ask? Aunt was trying to borrow your car, couldn’t get through to you, and since she knows we’re close, she came to me to find out where you went.”

Chu Feng rubbed his forehead. Aunt again? “Why does she want to know where I am?”

Chu Anzhi shook his head. “No idea.”

“Did Chu Jinhui buy the car?”

Anzhi nodded. “Yeah, a BMW 5 series. When he brought it home, he was basking in the spotlight. Grandpa and Grandma even bought firecrackers and celebrated the occasion—apparently gave him a big red envelope too.”

“A big red envelope? How big?”

Anzhi took a deep breath. “Not sure, but it must’ve been at least three thousand yuan. Grandma said big cousin just bought a car, and money’s tight for him.”

Chu Feng blinked. Sure enough, Chu Jinhui is Grandpa and Grandma’s real grandson. As for me? I’m basically adopted.

When he bought his car, Grandpa and Grandma knew about it too, but they didn’t sympathize with his financial struggles. Instead, they thought he was being reckless and irresponsible with his spending.

“Has Chu Jinhui’s wedding date been set?” Chu Feng asked.

Anzhi nodded. “Yeah, it’s next month.”

Chu Feng took a deep breath. Next month… who knows whether I’ll be in this world or the other one then. I’ll just have to take it as it comes. Even though we’re not close, I still need to show up for the wedding.

Anzhi sighed. “Aunt came to our house again a few days ago.”

Chu Feng asked dryly, “Let me guess—about borrowing money again?”

Anzhi shook his head. “This time it’s about the wedding gift money.”

Chu Feng nodded. “Oh, right.”

He rubbed his forehead. These days, wedding gift money has gotten out of hand. For close friends, you’re expected to give at least a thousand. It’s become a real headache for working folks.

Chu Feng didn’t have much of a social circle before, so it hadn’t affected him too much.

“For the gift money, I’ll give two thousand,” Chu Feng said.

Anzhi nodded. “Two thousand should be enough. But Aunt said that when someone in the Zhao family got married, Uncle gave a hundred thousand.”

Chu Feng rolled his eyes. “That guy owns a company. He even gave his daughter and son-in-law a multimillion-yuan villa when they got married—how’s that even comparable?” Though now that I think about it, I’m technically a boss myself now. Aunt probably has no clue.

Anzhi nodded. “Yeah, my parents think so too. Aunt seems to have gone a little nuts—she stops by our place every single day.”

Chu Feng: “…”

Anzhi said enviously, “You’re the smart one, Brother Feng—got out while you could.”

Chu Feng chuckled to himself. It wasn’t intentional. The whole dimension-hopping thing just happens randomly—I can’t control it. If I keep bouncing between worlds like this, someone’s bound to find out eventually. For now, I’ll just take it one step at a time.

After seeing Anzhi off, Chu Feng went to check out nearby commercial properties and saw a few shops available for rent.

He shook his head. Online shopping was booming these days—physical retail wasn’t so easy to manage anymore.

Still, real estate prices remained high, and storefronts weren’t cheap.

Many commercial properties had been sold years ago but were still sitting empty.

Chu Feng went to a real estate agency and spent 10 million yuan to buy a 300-square-meter storefront.

After the purchase, he suddenly realized that even having 100 million doesn’t mean you can spend freely—it disappears fast.

The shop was expensive, but it was in a prime location. Someone had previously operated a business there but likely ran at a loss and shut it down. The initial renovations were already quite good.

Now, he just needed to hire someone to touch it up, and it would be ready.

Holding the deed to the store in hand, Chu Feng felt great—like he’d taken one more step toward becoming a true “winner in life.”

He had a house, a car, and now a commercial property. He used to think such things only happened in dreams, but within just a few days, they had all become reality.
