Journey to Tianhai City

Chapter 125: Journey to Tianhai City

Chu Feng and Illya went to find Lan Hu.

“Tianhai City?” Lan Hu was a little surprised.

Chu Feng nodded and said, “Yes, Illya and I will go there posing as your attendants.”

Both Chu Feng and Illya couldn’t openly move about in public due to their identities. But things were different if they became Lan Hu’s bodyguards. Although Lan Hu was pretty useless, he had the Merdes family behind him. Out in the world, people would still show him some respect because of that.

Lan Hu’s face turned pale in an instant. Shocked, he said, “You’re going to be my attendants?!”

What had he done to deserve that?

Chu Feng looked at Lan Hu’s reaction and thought: Is that really so surprising? It’s just nominal. In reality, Lan Hu was still a prisoner. But even a “nominal” title meant a lot.

“This doesn’t feel right…” Lan Hu said awkwardly, rubbing his hands together.

Chu Feng tilted his head. “Is there some problem?”

Lan Hu scratched his head. “Not really, I just feel bad for making the boss serve me. You’re like a dream guy for half the people in Crescent Village! If they found out you were playing my servant, they’d probably give me a hard time.”

Chu Feng said coolly, “It’s no problem for me.”

Lan Hu looked troubled. “So, how do we get there?”

“I’ll take you,” Chu Feng replied.

Chu Feng had already tested it—transporting a rabbit through two dimensions would kill it. But if it was within the same plane, it wasn’t a big issue.

Also, the Merdes family seemed to be searching for Lan Hu. If Lan Hu went to Tianhai City, it could draw their attention away. Illya added, “If this trip goes smoothly, you’ll get 300 work tokens.”

Lan Hu’s eyes lit up and he immediately nodded. “Alright, I’ll do my best!”

Chu Feng silently thought: … Money really makes the world go round. I almost forgot the simplest truth.

The three of them made some hasty preparations and soon appeared outside Tianhai City.

Tianhai City was near the coast, far from the royal capital. Back when Lan Hu had run away from home, he’d wanted to visit Tianhai City, but the journey was too far, so he gave up. He never expected that, by some twist of fate, he’d arrive this way.

Lan Hu thought to himself: Chu Feng’s ability is too useful. With this, there’s no need to travel for days. Just one thought, and you’re there.

“Boss Chu, are we going into the city now?” Lan Hu asked.

Chu Feng nodded. “Yes, from now on, you’re the young master. No need to ask for our opinion about everything.”

Lan Hu nodded confidently. “Alright, then let’s go.”

As they walked to the city gate, they were stopped by guards. Lan Hu pulled out his identity token.

Everything else Lan Hu had owned was stolen, but the identity token remained. Top nobles each had a unique token that was almost impossible to forge—it was a symbol of status. As soon as Lan Hu showed it, the guards were shocked and bowed deeply, quickly letting them through.

Lan Hu strolled into the city, hands behind his back, looking proud and dignified. Chu Feng looked at him and thought: He finally looks like a noble for once.

Lan Hu glanced at Chu Feng and asked in a low voice, “Boss, how much money did you bring?”

“Eighty thousand silver.”

Lan Hu was curious. “Eighty thousand? Where did you get that kind of money?”

“Most of it was provided free by Riye.”

Lan Hu grinned gloatingly. “Oh, so that’s how it is!”

Riye sure is loaded, Lan Hu thought. When I left the capital, I only had ten thousand gold coins. But Riye brought eighty thousand just to impress a girl. He’s really going all out.
Too bad it’s all someone else’s money now.

Tianhai City was bustling with people—humans, beastkin, and others all mingled together.

Scantily clad fox girls swayed their fluffy tails, trying to attract customers at the doorways. Fishmen with shimmering scales were selling pearls. Tigers were selling fangs and hides.

“This city really has every race imaginable,” Chu Feng said in amazement.

Lan Hu nodded. “Yep. Tianhai City is open to business from all corners of the world. They welcome everyone.”

Chu Feng and Illya went to the herb market. Chu Feng saw many strange and exotic medicinal plants.

Illya spent 1,000 gold coins to buy three greenish fruits.

“Are these spiritual fruits?” Chu Feng asked, eyeing the translucent Bijing Fruit Illya had bought. It looked like a crystal—very odd. “Are you sure they’re edible?”

Illya shook his head. “I’m not sure, but they can be brewed into Hundred-Fruit Wine.”

Chu Feng’s eyes lit up. That wine from the shaman is legendary. We should definitely buy more.

Chu Feng turned to Lan Hu. “Have you ever eaten these fruits?”

Lan Hu nodded. “Yeah. Don’t be fooled by how pretty they look. They’re actually a bit sour—not very tasty.”

Then Illya bought a few more weird-looking fruits, entering full-on shopping mode. In no time, he’d spent 10,000.

“Lan Hu, you’re actually here?” A richly dressed young man in fur-lined robes walked over.

“Riqi? What are you doing here?” Lan Hu asked.

“I came to take a look. Got lucky this time—managed to buy a Flame Stone.”

When Lan Hu heard the words “Flame Stone,” his mouth twitched. Back in the day, he had asked his father for one and been refused. That story had spread all over the capital, and many had laughed at him.

Now that it was winter, the price of Flame Stones had skyrocketed.

“Well, congrats to you,” Lan Hu said coolly. He had already secured a staff dorm with air conditioning, so he didn’t really care about the stone anymore.

“I didn’t expect to see you here. Heard you went missing a while ago. I thought something had happened to you.” Riqi joked lightly.

Chu Feng raised an eyebrow. Seems like Lan Hu and this guy don’t get along very well…

Given the rivalry between the three major families in the capital, that wasn’t surprising.

Lan Hu said proudly, “This young master is protected by heaven’s blessings—death isn’t that easy!”

“I also thought you were too much of a troublemaker to die that easily. By the way, did you know? My cousin took Lichiya out to enjoy the scenery,” Riqi said.

Lan Hu smiled—did he?

Riqi looked at Lan Hu’s composed expression, seeming unbothered, and felt a little disappointed.

“My cousin and Lichiya’s relationship has progressed quickly. I heard they’re getting married as soon as tomorrow. Will you come back with me to attend their wedding?”

Lan Hu chuckled and said, “No need.” Riye and Lichiya are slaves in the Crescent Village right now. Getting married by next spring? That’s not going to happen.

Riqi looked at Lan Hu with a hint of sympathy and said, “Lan Hu, are you still not over Lichiya?”

Lan Hu put his hands on his hips, clearly annoyed. “Who said I’m not over her? I stopped caring about her eight hundred years ago. Honestly, Lichiya’s looks are nothing special.”

Riqi looked at him with a mocking gaze, feeling like he was just putting on a brave front.

“Lan Hu, if you can’t let go, then just admit it. Why pretend otherwise?”

Lan Hu rolled his eyes. “Who’s pretending?”

Riye’s gaze shifted to Illya and he suddenly looked understanding. “Ah, I see—you have a new target!”

Lan Hu stared at Riqi and thought, This idiot is trying to get me killed! Even if he had the guts, he wouldn’t dare have any ideas on Illya.

After all, he belonged to Chu Feng, and Chu Feng was terrifyingly ruthless.

Not wanting to hear more nonsense from Riqi, Lan Hu left with Illya and Chu Feng.

“Is that guy related to Riye?” Chu Feng asked.

Lan Hu nodded. “Yeah.”

Chu Feng shook his head and said to Illya, “Nobles are so annoying! No wonder you hate them.”

Illya nodded and let out a quiet “mm.”

Lan Hu wished they’d stop saying such things in front of him. Sure, most nobles were jerks, but there were exceptions!

Chu Feng had thought Tianhai City wouldn’t have much, but after arriving, he realized it was full of treasures—pearl-sized gems as big as baby fists, black pearls, white pearls, blue pearls, all kinds of coral, fire stones, and ice stones, all absurdly expensive.

Chu Feng had originally thought 80,000 silver notes were a lot, but once in Tianhai, he quickly realized it wasn’t nearly enough.

Before they left, Shaman Qiu Luo had given them a list—a long one filled with precious spiritual herbs.

According to Illya, some of the herbs on the list were so rare that even the shaman had probably never seen them—only read about them in the notes of past shamans.

Chu Feng thought, This shaman sure has guts! Just because we have 80,000 silver, he dares to give us such a massive shopping list.

Many of the items on the list were only sold in special stores—and only to high-tier members. This was where Lan Hu came in handy. That cowardly fatso was actually pretty useful—his identity opened doors.

They bought a ton of supplies in Tianhai City. To transport it all, Lan Hu even bought a carriage.

A few days later, after spending nearly all the 80,000 silver notes, Chu Feng finally decided it was time to head back.

He and Illya returned to Crescent Village with a cart full of items, but surprisingly, their arrival didn’t cause much of a stir.

Chu Feng always brought back a lot of stuff—people in the village had become numb to it. They didn’t even know he had gone to Tianhai City, assuming he had just returned from the sea as usual.

When Shaman Qiu Luo saw the amount of spiritual herbs they brought back, he was stunned.

“I can’t believe you bought so much,” the shaman said.

Illya nodded. “Neither can I. Tianhai City really is a big city—every kind of spiritual herb imaginable is there.”

Illya had always been cautious and secretive when entering human cities. But this time, with Lan Hu’s identity to lean on, he’d boldly gone places he normally couldn’t.

He had to admit—Lan Hu was useful after all.

The shaman picked up one of the herbs. “Is this Tianmai?”

Illya nodded. “The seller said it is. shaman, don’t you recognize it?”

The shaman gave an awkward smile. He’d only seen it in books—never in real life.

Chu Feng asked curiously, “What does Tianmai do?”

The shaman glanced at him. “It repairs meridians.”

Chu Feng nodded. “Cool.”

The shaman became fully absorbed in studying the herbs.

After a while, Chu Feng and Illya left.
