Detoxification

 Chapter 117: Detoxification

Chu Feng drove back to the countryside.

As soon as he got out of the car, a group of people surrounded him.

“Chu Feng, what’s going on?! Why are there so many military people at your third uncle’s house? Did he get into trouble or something?”

“Chu Feng! Those guys don’t look too friendly!”

“Chu Feng, lately you’ve been buying houses and cars — how exactly did you make all that money? You didn’t go down some shady path, did you?”

Chu Feng: …These idiots. Always waiting to see someone else fall instead of minding their own business.

Chu Feng waved his hand and said, “I need to see my third uncle. Please step aside.”

His third uncle Chu Linsheng’s house was being guarded by a few soldiers, and the villagers didn’t dare approach. But that didn’t stop them from gossiping.

Chu Feng parked and walked toward the multi-story house.

At the entrance, he saw his third uncle talking to a stylishly dressed woman.

Chu Linsheng sat uneasily on a stool, his face pale. “I already told you, the hospital treated it. Didn’t the doctors say it was the body naturally producing antibodies?”

“We’ve already checked,” the woman said. “During the days right after Chu Anzhi recovered, there were several unusual substances in his body. But in the latest test, they’ve disappeared.”

Chu Linsheng frowned. “The poison’s gone, so it disappeared. That’s that.”

“That wasn’t an antibody. Antibodies don’t disappear that quickly.”

Chu Linsheng rubbed his hands. “You should ask the doctors about that! I don’t know either!”

The woman, Shen Yuxing, sighed and said helplessly, “The doctors are at their wits’ end. If they had a solution, we wouldn’t have come here.”

Chu Linsheng looked even more flustered. “I really don’t know anything.”

As an ordinary man, facing a clearly powerful woman, he was visibly uncomfortable.

“Mr. Chu, fifteen soldiers have been poisoned. If we can’t find an antidote, they’ll all die.”

Chu Linsheng frowned. “Even if you say that, I have no way to help! The hospital drew several tubes of blood from my son. The later ones didn’t work anymore. Weren’t the earlier ones useful?”

Shen Yutong’s expression changed. The blood previously drawn from Chu Anzhi had indeed worked.

Two of Chu Anzhi’s classmates recovered after taking an antidote made from that blood. But afterward, it stopped being effective.

Chu Anzhi had suffered quite a bit lately — he was bitten in Ghost Village and nearly died. After barely recovering, he was subjected to repeated blood draws.

He had fled to the countryside just to avoid them. A few days later, thinking the storm had passed, he returned to the academy — only to be taken again and used for more blood. Poor Chu Anzhi had been utterly miserable. But since everyone kept saying “saving a life is more important than building a seven-story pagoda,” he couldn’t bear to refuse.

“But the previous blood is all gone.” At the time, no one realized how valuable it was and used it all up. The remaining blood no longer worked — whatever substance had been in Chu Anzhi’s body had apparently metabolized and disappeared.

Now several soldiers were still in the hospital, and the attending doctors were completely overwhelmed.

Chu Linsheng sighed. “Then get some real experts.”

Shen Yuxing frowned. “Even the experts are helpless.” After her brother was poisoned, she had already contacted every top specialist in the country — to no avail.

Chu Linsheng lowered his head, troubled. Even doctors and experts couldn’t cure this. Whatever method Chu Feng used to heal Anzhi… it must have come at a high price.

Shen Yuxing took out a bank card and handed it to Chu Linsheng. “Your son hasn’t bought a house or car yet, right? This card has ten million yuan on it. If you tell me how to cure the poison, it’s yours.”

Chu Linsheng looked at the bank card on the table, heart pounding. For someone like him, ten million was a massive amount of money.

After hesitating, he shook his head. “It’s not about the money. I really don’t know.”

Chu Feng walked into the house and called out, “Uncle.”

When Chu Linsheng saw him, he stood up, excited. “Xiao Feng, you’re here!”

Chu Feng glanced at Shen Yuxing and asked, “Miss, is my uncle in trouble?”

“Of course not. I just need a favor,” she said sincerely.

Chu Feng smiled. “You look like someone important, but my uncle is just a regular guy. I doubt he can help you.”

Shen Yuxing suddenly remembered something, her eyes lighting up. “You’re Chu Feng, right? You visited Chu Anzhi when he was sick.”

Chu Feng: …She really did her homework.

Shen Yuxing looked at him and said, “This is an emergency. I had no other choice. I wasn’t trying to pressure you on purpose.”

Chu Feng frowned, confused. “Didn’t everyone who went to Ghost Village wear protective suits?”

Shen Yuxing froze. She hadn’t expected Chu Feng to know that. “A dozen giant scorpions appeared out of nowhere and tore through the suits. Several soldiers are now critically ill.”

Chu Feng: …So much for those protective suits.

Still, a dozen giant scorpions? In the tomb passage? He hadn’t seen any. Illya didn’t sense any strong energy signatures either, aside from the one massive scorpion. Suddenly, Chu Feng recalled the scene in the burial chamber — a scorpion devouring another scorpion…

Without the witch stone, the scorpions may have started killing each other. As a result, a few powerful scorpions were born.
“It seems like the excavation of the ancient tomb isn’t going smoothly at all!”

Shen Yuxing nodded and said, “Indeed.”
The scorpions inside the tomb had caused major trouble for the excavation process.

Shen Yuxing took a deep breath and thought to herself: They still underestimated the danger of the ancient tomb! If they had been more cautious when entering, they wouldn’t have been surrounded and overwhelmed by so many scorpions without any chance to fight back.

Fifteen police officers… And several of them were veterans who had survived battlefields for years. They were trained by the country—losing them is a heavy loss…

Chu Feng hesitated for a moment, then took out a bottle of elixirs and placed it on the table. “These are detoxification elixirs. There are only three—this is all I have.”

Chu Linsheng spoke with some excitement, “Xiao Feng, Anzhi is…”

Chu Feng nodded. “Yes.”

Shen Yutong glanced at Chu Linsheng and thought: So even Chu Linsheng didn’t know? Or maybe he knew, but not clearly.

“Where did this medicine come from?” she asked.

Chu Feng replied calmly, “An old Chinese medicine doctor gave them to me. He’s no longer in this world, so this is all that’s left. In fact, even if he were still here, he wouldn’t be able to make more. Several of the herbs used have already gone extinct. This elixir doesn’t just work on scorpion venom—it’s effective against many types of poison.”

Chu Feng silently apologized to shaman Qiu Luo. What he said was technically true—Qiu Luo was indeed not in this world anymore, but in another one.

Hearing this, Shen Yutong nodded solemnly. “Thank you. How many should be taken?”

Chu Feng shook his head. “I’m not sure. But Anzhi took one and fully recovered. His two classmates also seem fine now.”

Shen Yuxing nodded. “Thank you.”

Chu Feng smiled. “No need to be so polite. This card is mine, then.”

Shen Yuxing nodded. “Of course.”

Chu Feng thought to himself: He didn’t lack money, but when money was handed to you, why not take it? If he put this detox elixir up for auction, it could probably fetch several million. Taking ten million from Shen Yutong wasn’t too much—this woman obviously had money.

Shen Yuxing took out a business card and handed it to Chu Feng. “This is my card. If Young Master Chu ever needs help, feel free to contact me.”

“Alright.” Chu Feng thought to himself: She’s with the military. Maybe I can ask her to help solve Illya’s identity issue. But then again, she seems very sharp—asking her for help might end up exposing something. Better not.

With the antidote in hand, Shen Yuxing left with several military personnel.
Chu Linsheng, watching them leave, finally let out a sigh of relief.

Chu Linsheng rubbed his hands. “Xiao Feng, thank you.”

He had long suspected that Chu Anzhi’s recovery might have something to do with Chu Feng. Still, now that it was confirmed, he was a bit surprised.
“There’s no need to be so formal, Uncle.”

Chu Linsheng sighed. “I shouldn’t have let Anzhi return to the academy so soon. I heard he was dragged off to donate blood several more times.”

Chu Feng: “…Is my cousin really that unlucky?”

Chu Linsheng asked curiously, “When did you meet that old doctor?”

Chu Feng glanced at him. “A long time ago. Back then, I thought he was just an unlicensed barefoot doctor. Later, I realized he was a miracle doctor.”

Chu Linsheng nodded. “Is that so? Traditional Chinese medicine really is amazing, but these days, Western medicine is more popular, and true masters are becoming rare.”

Chu Feng: “…” Actually, Shaman Qiu Luo wasn’t exactly a Chinese medicine doctor—he was a shaman from another world.

Chu Feng walked out of the house. Illya came up to him and asked, “So? Is the issue resolved?”

Chu Feng frowned. “I guess so. But who knows if something else might come up later.”

Illya asked, puzzled, “What else could happen?”

Chu Feng shook his head. “I don’t know.”
The tomb excavation didn’t seem to be going well. Without the witch stone, who knew what would happen to the lizards inside? But that wasn’t their problem anymore.

Illya shook his head. “Over a dozen people got poisoned? You guys are really too careless.”

Chu Feng nodded and thought, You’re telling me. That tomb was far from simple—not the witch stone, nor the paintings on the door.
