Requesting Elixirs

Chapter 109: Requesting Elixirs

The two arrived at the shaman’s residence. When the shaman saw them, he seemed to be in a good mood.

“Ah, you’re here! I heard you didn’t bring much with you this time—ran into some trouble over there?”

Illya nodded.

“Sort of.”

“What happened?” Shaman Qiu Luo asked curiously.

Illya puffed out his cheeks.

“A whole nest of scorpions—pretty nasty.”

The shaman sighed.

“I knew it. That other side of the sea really isn’t safe. There’s not much we can do to help from here, so you two must be extra careful. Illya, you must protect Chu Feng. He must not come to harm.”

Illya nodded seriously.

“Don’t worry, shaman. I understand.”

When did I become this important? Chu Feng thought, hearing the shaman speak as if even if Illya got hurt, he couldn’t afford for me to be injured.

Chu Feng curiously looked around at the racks filled with various elixirs.

“Is there something you need?” the shaman asked, noticing Chu Feng’s curious glances.

Before Chu Feng could answer, Illya spoke up on his behalf:

“Chu Feng wants a male vitality elixir.”

“I clearly mentioned several different kinds of medicine!” Chu Feng thought in frustration. Why is this the one Illya remembers—especially when he didn’t even know what it was?

The shaman looked at Chu Feng with a puzzled expression, which made Chu Feng a little uncomfortable.

Wait… does the shaman actually know what that is? Could he be thinking… I have that kind of problem?

The shaman hesitated.

“If you really want it… there is one.”

Illya looked surprised.

“Really? I didn’t know that.”

The shaman smiled.

“You wouldn’t. It’s new—just recently made.”

“Because of those medical books and herbs?” Chu Feng asked.

Qiu Luo nodded.

“Yes. I’ve started formulating elixirs based on the medical books you gave me. Some seem to be showing promise, though most are still experimental. It’s too early to say whether they really work.”

Illya nodded.

“Oh, I see.”

The shaman looked at both of them and paused, then said, “Actually, with your situation, you might not even need a male vitality elixir… you could just… switch positions.”

Illya looked confused.

“Switch positions? What do you mean?”

“Top and bottom,” Chu Feng muttered. The shaman really is something—never had a partner, but seems to know everything.

“Let’s… not talk about that kind of elixir anymore,” Chu Feng said with a dry laugh.
It was just a random question! I don’t actually need it—my body’s doing just fine, thank you!

“Let’s talk about other elixirs instead. shaman, do you have anything like… resurrection medicine?” Illya asked.

The shaman frowned.

“What are you thinking, Illya? How could something like that exist?”

Illya thought for a second.

“Well, it kind of does on the other side.”

Chu Feng looked shocked.

“We do? Since when?”

Illya blinked.

“Well, maybe not a medicine… but I saw on TV once—someone was dying, and the doctor used a machine to press on their chest, and then they woke up.”

“She’s talking about defibrillation…” Chu Feng said. That’s for cardiac arrest—it’s a last-resort method and doesn’t always work.

The shaman listened to their conversation with a bit of envy.

“Your side sounds amazing… I wish I could go see it for myself.”

Chu Feng smiled awkwardly.

“That might be difficult.”

The shaman shook his head.

“Then forget it.”

Chu Feng thought: I can’t bring you over there, but maybe I could bring medical equipment here. Maybe even set up a basic clinic. No idea if our medical methods will work on people here, but it’s worth exploring.

The shaman looked at them again.

“If you really want elixirs, I can give you some. But I can’t guarantee they’ll work.”

Will it kill someone if they eat it?! Chu Feng asked offhandedly—only realizing after the words left his mouth that he might’ve said something wrong.

Shaman Qiu Luo thought for a moment and said, “Well… it’s not impossible.”

Not impossible?! That was way too casually said.
“I’ve been experimenting on small animals lately, but animals and humans are ultimately different.”

Chu Feng responded, “That’s… fair.”

Shaman Qiu Luo looked at Chu Feng and said, “You’re an ability user, and your physique has improved significantly recently. Even if this elixir could kill a regular person, it probably wouldn’t kill you so easily.”

Chu Feng thought, Was that supposed to be a compliment? Why does it not feel like one at all…?

Shaman Qiu Luo grabbed Chu Feng’s wrist and took his pulse. “It’s only been a few days, and your pulse has improved again. Did you recently make some sort of breakthrough?”

Chu Feng’s heart skipped. “Maybe. I’ve been experimenting with a new way to use my ability.”

Qiu Luo nodded. “I see.”

Chu Feng thought: His physical improvement was probably due to the Witch Stone. He hesitated but ultimately chose not to reveal the stone’s existence. Precious items tempt the heart—even if Qiu Luo was a good person, there was no reason to test him with such a thing.

Although the effectiveness of the elixirs was uncertain, it was better to be prepared than not. So Chu Feng took several of the experimental elixirs concocted by Shaman Qiu Luo.

After staying for a while, Chu Feng and Illya teleported back to the castle.

Gray came over quickly. “Bro, I heard Brother Feng developed a new ability?”

Illya nodded. “Yes, he can teleport short distances now.”

Gray blinked. “So… you don’t need cars or motorcycles anymore?”

Illya thought for a second. “Not here, no. But on the other side of the sea, it still might be necessary. Chu Feng said there are surveillance cameras over there, so we have to be more low-profile.”

Gray clapped his hands. “Awesome!”

Illya rolled his eyes. “What’s awesome? Even if I’m not driving, there are plenty of people who can. It’s not going to be your turn.”

Gray frowned. “Big bro, don’t let outsiders benefit! If you don’t need the car, let me drive it.”

Chu Feng entered the room just in time to hear Illya and Gray talking about driving.
Why did this sound kind of inappropriate? Was his mind in the gutter again…?

Illya looked at Gray. “Don’t go randomly driving that car! It’s dangerous—and your feet can’t even reach the pedals.”

Gray grumbled, “Big bro always underestimates me…”

Then he lowered his head and said softly, “Big bro, you and Chu Feng are really close, huh?”

Illya nodded. “Pretty close.”

Gray felt a bit happy—Chu Feng and his brother’s relationship seemed solid. But also a little sad.
In the past, he was the one Big Bro cared about most. Now… maybe it was Chu Feng.

But if it’s Chu Feng, I guess I can accept it… reluctantly.

Chu Feng spent the next seven days in the otherworld, focused on absorbing energy from the Witch Stone.

In just that short time, he felt his strength had more than doubled.

At first, he thought Shaman Qiu Luo’s spiritual elixirs were impressive. But now he realized—the Witch Stone was in a league of its own.

With a loud punch, Chu Feng slammed into the stone, leaving a web of cracks across its surface.

Illya gave him a sideways look. “What are you doing?”

Chu Feng clenched his fist. “Testing my strength.”

Illya rolled his eyes. “You guys have people who break bricks with their bare hands, right? I thought you were doing that.”

Chu Feng replied, “I’m not that bored. But yeah, we do have people who do that. Though honestly, most of it’s fake.”

“Fake?”

Chu Feng nodded. “A lot of those bricks are props—specially made to break easily. Once, a ‘master’ didn’t pay his assistant, and the assistant swapped the fake bricks for real ones. It turned into a huge joke.”

Illya tilted his head. “Why do you guys have so much fake stuff over there?”

Chu Feng sighed. “That’s what I want to know too…”

Looking at his fist, Chu Feng asked, “You think I could pass for someone with super strength now?”

Illya nodded. “Probably. Ability users vary in strength anyway.”

Chu Feng nodded. “True. Lifting a thousand pounds now doesn’t seem too hard. I might even be on par with actual strength-types.”

Illya’s eyes lit up. “Let’s head over to the other side.”

He missed soaking in a hot bath. After using Chu Feng’s bathtub, he just couldn’t go back to bathing by the lake anymore.

Chu Feng looked at him, puzzled. “Aren’t you afraid?”

Illya twirled a pistol skillfully in his hand. “Not really.”

His pistol was a new model gifted by the dwarves—more compact, but significantly more powerful than the previous one. “This time I brought a detachable magazine too.”

Chu Feng nodded. “That’s good.”

Chu Anzhi had taken the medicine earlier and had mostly recovered, but Chu Feng was still unsure if there would be any aftereffects.

So he stopped restraining the “battery charge” in his arm and let it drain normally.

As expected, once the energy ran out, Chu Feng and Illya reappeared in the ancient tomb.

Inside the tomb chamber, just like Chu Feng had anticipated, a swarm of scorpions lingered. Many of them were moving quickly, like they hadn’t eaten in days.

Chu Feng blinked and nudged Illya with his elbow. “Hey… do these scorpions look smaller to you?”

Illya nodded. “They kinda do.”

When the scorpions had rushed in before, they were aggressive and terrifying. But now, Chu Feng could clearly feel that the aura radiating from them had weakened significantly.

He wondered: Did taking away the Witch Stone… starve them?
