Chapter 102: Chu Anzhi in Critical Condition
After making the rounds at the classroom, Chu Feng returned to the castle construction zone. It was always bustling with activity—pretty much the same every day.
“Boss,” Manning walked into the meeting room and bowed to Chu Feng.
Chu Feng looked over at him. “Oh, it’s you. What is it?”
Looking at Manning, Chu Feng felt he seemed to have put on a bit more weight—maybe he was just filling out now. He wasn’t as timid anymore and actually looked kind of good.
“Boss, I think Shi Qi might like that little noble kid,” said Manning.
Not long ago, Chu Feng had given Manning a task—if he noticed anything unusual, he was to report it.
Chu Feng raised an eyebrow. “Really? You can tell?”
Manning nodded. “Sort of. Married couples are linked by red threads. If someone likes a person, there’s a pink thread.”
Chu Feng grew curious. “So if someone secretly likes a bunch of people, do you see lots of pink threads?”
Manning nodded again. “Yep! Like Hughes—he’s secretly crushing on several dwarf girls. You can see a bunch of pink threads around him.”
Chu Feng: …I thought Hughes was just a research-obsessed maniac. Turns out he’s a total player. I really misjudged that guy. Just goes to show—never judge a book by its cover.
Manning looked at Chu Feng. “Boss, you don’t give off many pink threads, but there are a lot of pink threads toward you. Seems like plenty of people secretly like you.”
Chu Feng: …Yeah, I already knew that. No need to point it out. It’s kind of embarrassing.
“I get it. You can go now.”
Illya emerged from the shadows and said, “So Shi Qi actually likes that lazy little chubby noble?”
She looked a bit embarrassed. “I’ve been here for a while, but since you were talking about private stuff, I didn’t show myself.”
Chu Feng: “Is that so?”
Illya frowned slightly. “What does Shi Qi even see in that spoiled second-generation rich kid?”
She’d originally assumed Shi Qi treated Lan Hu nicely because of the master-servant bond, but now it didn’t seem so simple.
Chu Feng rested his chin on his hand. “To each their own. People like different things. We might not get it, but we should respect it.”
Illya nodded. “True enough.”
Chu Feng looked at her. “What is it? You seem to have something on your mind.”
Illya nodded. “I just remembered something. When I asked Lan Hu why he left his family, Shi Qi didn’t hesitate to throw him under the bus. She bluntly said he was dumped. At the time, I thought it was odd. But now, maybe she was just gloating.”
Illya headed for the training grounds, where several villagers had already gathered to learn how to drive. Someone had previously sneaked out and taken his motorcycle for a joyride, and Chu Feng figured the cars would eventually suffer the same fate. So he decided they might as well teach people how to drive properly and asked Illya to take care of it.
When Illya asked around the village who wanted to learn, a bunch of people responded enthusiastically. He was quickly surrounded. With so many interested, they had to settle it with rock-paper-scissors to pick five people to start.
Illya had bought an automatic car, so it was easy to learn. In no time, the group had pretty much gotten the hang of it. They were all having a blast.
An eagle suddenly swooped down and landed on the car. Illya looked at it. “Fei Ying? What are you doing here?”
Fei Ying flapped his wings. “Chu Feng says it’s about time.”
Illya nodded. “Oh, okay.”
The people in the car were full of excitement. “We get to go over there again? This is amazing!”
Illya blushed and turned the car toward the castle.
Once they arrived, he let his companions take the car and walked into the house.
Chu Feng looked up. “We’re getting ready to go.”
Illya nodded seriously. “Next time we come, I’m bringing a fridge.”
Chu Feng: “You’re that obsessed with a fridge? It’s almost winter, you know!”
With a flash of white light, Chu Feng brought Illya back to the villa.
He pulled back the curtains and looked out the window. It was deep into the night, and he looked slightly disappointed.
Chu Feng turned on his phone and saw a message from Lin Sheng.
Reading it, Chu Feng suddenly tensed up.
Illya looked at him. “What is it?”
Chu Feng glanced at him, took a deep breath, and said, “Something happened to my cousin.”
Chu Linsheng had made several calls, but Chu Feng hadn’t been reachable from the other side. Eventually, Linsheng sent a message instead.
Chu Feng frowned. “Seems he’s been poisoned… He’s in critical condition.”
Illya raised his eyebrows slightly. “Oh?”
Chu Feng nodded. “Looks like we’re heading back to the capital.”
