Chapter 9
After typing in the title, Lin An’an looked left and right at it and felt very satisfied.
Xiong Yingjun leaned over to take a look and immediately burst out laughing. “Hahaha, whose livestream room is this? This is freaking genius!”
The little cub puffed out his chest proudly. “Yingji!”
Not to brag.
It is I, the cub in question!
Hearing the commotion, Feng Wu also glanced over. A moment later, he quietly shifted his gaze away, the faintest hint of a smile flashing across his lips.
Having received approval, Lin An’an clicked Start Streaming and began his livestream debut.
At the same time, in some invisible little corner of the livestream section on “CrimeNet,” a room with an absurdly long and flashy title appeared.
Its main tag was [Farming].
Ten minutes passed. Lin An’an’s livestream popularity: [0].
By then, Lin An’an had gone into the yard. The virtual camera automatically generated by the livestream had been set to auto-follow mode, hovering not too far behind him in midair and quietly recording his every move.
He had also dragged Feng Wu and Xiong Yingjun out into the yard.
Lin An’an’s goal was to turn this abandoned little courtyard into farmland for growing fruits, vegetables, and medicinal herbs.
But at present, he struggled even to carry a hoe, so the little cub quite shamelessly handed all the heavy labor over to the two big hulks in the family.
So when the first passing viewer entered the livestream room, what they saw was a bear and a wolf gleefully rolling around in the dirt in the yard, making a complete mess of the place.
The passerby left the room in utter confusion, glanced at the title, then clicked back in again and sent a barrage comment full of question marks.
[Wasn’t there supposed to be a cub? Where’s the cub?]
Lin An’an was sitting beneath the virtual camera, directing the wolf and the bear as they turned the soil and pulled weeds. That lone floating comment sliding across the light screen instantly caught his attention.
The little cub bounced twice on the spot, trying hard to get himself into frame. The virtual camera was very cooperative and adjusted its angle, focusing on the palm-sized monster cub.
“Yingji!”
Here, here!
Welcome, first family member!
Ever since CrimeNet had been established, watching livestreams from Sin Star seemed to have become one of the habits shared by all Imperial citizens.
Some people were simply curious about life on Sin Star. Others watched in order to prepare in advance, because they knew that anyone could become the next permanent resident of Sin Star. No one could guarantee they would never end up there.
Lu Ren belonged to the latter group. But compared to camping in one fixed livestream room, he preferred hopping repeatedly between different rooms, because that made it easier for him to observe the true conditions of different areas across Sin Star.
Today, just like always, Lu Ren was wandering through the nameless corners of the CrimeNet livestream section in search of a new target.
And then he was blinded by an outrageously gaudy string of words in a title.
With his principle of not letting a single livestream room escape him, Lu Ren clicked into this room tagged [Farming].
He wanted to see for himself whether the little cub mentioned in the title was really a little cub. If it turned out to be clickbait, Lu Ren wouldn’t mind casually filing a report.
After all, the management rules of CrimeNet clearly stated that false clickbait titles were against regulations.
And when the livestream camera focused on that seemingly palm-sized little cub, Lu Ren subconsciously stopped breathing—
Holy crap?!
It’s actually a real little cub??!
And such a tiny baby cub at that!!!
On the screen, the little cub was bouncing with all his might, two soft little tentacles waving in the air as he tried to attract the virtual camera’s attention. His tiny body bobbed up and down on the ground, and even his voice sounded tender and fluffy. When he landed, he couldn’t keep his footing and even rolled on the ground with a little tumble.
It was simply too adorable.
Lu Ren felt his poor little heart trembling from the cuteness overload. He had never seen such an adorable monster cub anywhere around him before.
As if possessed, he double-tapped the light screen and gave the livestream a like. When he came back to himself, Lu Ren hesitated for two seconds before bookmarking the room.
This was the first livestream room he had ever followed since sweeping through so many Sin Star broadcasts.
There was no helping it.
The cub was just too cute.
Such a fresh and unconventional livestream room was completely different from all the others.
Lu Ren readily found a reason for himself, thinking that this was exactly the kind of program a real man ought to watch.
After finally gaining one viewer, the livestream room no longer felt quite so deserted.
This viewer seemed to be a chatterbox. Before long, the previously empty barrage section had been completely filled with comments from him alone.
[How old is cubby this year?]
[Can you get enough to eat on Sin Star? Does anyone bully you?]
[What do you usually play?]
Lin An’an seriously typed out a reply: [I’m four this year, I can eat enough, no one bullies me, and usually I like…]
He thought for a moment, then typed: [I like playing in the dirt!]
[Wow! Cubby can read at four years old! Amazing!!]
[Playing in the dirt is great, more exercise means a healthy body!]
[Cubby cubby cubby…]
While Lin An’an was chatting with this viewer, over on the other side, Xiong Yingjun and Feng Wu had already finished clearing the weeds in the yard.
The huge silver wolf shook out his fur, flicking away the dirt that had splashed into it, then slowly and unhurriedly walked toward the little cub.
Lin An’an checked the time. More than an hour had passed since the livestream began, and there was still only one viewer in the room.
The [Farming] tag was just too niche. Even with such an explosive title, almost no one was willing to click in.
Still, the goal of the debut stream had already been achieved. After saying a word in the comment section, Lin An’an prepared to end the broadcast.
In the very last second before the livestream closed, Lin An’an heard a system notification sound and saw that the viewer from just now had sent him a Rocket Launcher gift.
The little cub’s eyes widened instantly.
A Rocket Launcher!
On his very first day of streaming, he had already received a tip—and it was a Rocket Launcher worth ten star coins!!!
After the platform took its fifty percent cut, he would still get a full five star coins! Who wouldn’t call that the descent of a destined star of fortune?
Lin An’an happily shared the good news with Feng Wu, proudly puffing out his little round belly.
With one hour of livestream data in hand, Lin An’an quickly submitted a contract application to the CrimeNet administrators.
If he wanted to make money through streaming, the best way was still to become a contracted streamer. If he could get a recommended ranking spot, he would gain much more exposure and traffic.
But what Lin An’an hadn’t expected was that ten minutes later, he received a site message from an agent automatically assigned by the system.
[We regret to inform our adorable new streamer that you have not yet met the signing requirements. Please keep working hard and do your best~]
At the very end of the message was even a cute little emoji trying to act all sweet.
The little cub: “…?”
H-How could this be?
Was his title still not explosive enough? Or was the little cub still not cute enough?!
Seeing that the little cub seemed deeply shaken, Feng Wu—now in human form—reached out to pat his head. Just as he was about to say a few words of comfort and encouragement, the little cub suddenly jerked his head up, and a blazing fighting spirit lit up in his beady little eyes.
“Yingji!”
Just you wait!
Today you ignore me, but tomorrow I’m still coming back to find you! [1]
That adorable look made a trace of laughter flash through Feng Wu’s eyes. His fingertips landed on the little cub’s soft little forehead and gently rubbed it.
That night, Lin An’an learned a piece of news from Feng Wu.
They had finally found the third buyer of the special medicine—the tattooed, burly man named Wuhula.
