Chapter 50
The heavy snow nearly crushed the trees by the roadside, and the streetlights that had shone all night now appeared dim under the cover of wind and snow.
With every step Xing Shu took, he felt exhausted; the sound of compressed snow underfoot echoed as his ankles sank into the snow, causing him to move slower and slower.
He eventually stopped at a spot, not because there was any significant landmark, but simply because he didn’t want to walk anymore. He planned to wait for the other party to come find him.
There was no one around, and all the buildings were cloaked in a layer of white snow.
Xing Shu waited in place for a long time, yet he saw nothing passing by except for the wind and snow. Every now and then, he had to brush off the snow from his shoulders and hair, or he would easily be buried.
Just when he thought he had misunderstood the demon’s intentions and began to regret coming out alone, a distant voice mixed in with the howling cold wind called out.
“Walk north, away from the snow.”
This voice repeated itself, faint but catchy, and Xing Shu had no choice but to follow its direction and walk forward.
After nearly a kilometer, the voice continued, “Walk north, away from the snow.”
Xing Shu clicked his tongue, brushed a chunk of ice off his forehead, and irritably stomped a deep footprint into the ground: “North my ass, either come out yourself or roll back to your hometown.”
He then turned around to head back, planning to go back and sleep with Ye Xiyao.
There was no helping it; his patience for anyone other than Ye Xiyao was always very thin.
It was really too difficult to expect him to obediently follow the commands of a voice for half an hour.
“Okay! Okay, okay, I won’t move; you just stay where you are, and I’ll come to you.” The voice sounded a bit anxious now, “The snow is really heavy.”
Xing Shu paused, lowering his gaze in thought.
An intuition told him that the owner of this voice wasn’t very smart; they didn’t seem like a powerful demon at all.
When Xing Shu saw the tired, panting little blood-red snake at his feet, he validated his thoughts—this thing was definitely not a powerful demon.
“Good evening, human. Finally meeting you. I’ve been waiting a long time—ah!”
Xing Shu stepped on the tail of the blood snake.
The magical snake cried out in terror: “What does this mean? What does this mean?! Your way of greeting is too rough!”
Strangely enough, even though its voice was sharp and noisy, the nearby residents were completely unbothered.
Xing Shu originally wanted to tell it to be quieter, but realizing he might have entered some kind of demonic energy-encircled barrier, he gave up the effort of wasting time talking nonsense and simply asked it, “What are you?”
The magical snake said, “Could you be a bit more polite in your wording?”
Xing Shu pressed down harder, stomping it into the snow. He used his actions to convey a clear “no.”
Two minutes later, the snake, which was only as long as Xing Shu’s arm, struggled to burrow out of the snow, lying obediently on the ground. It answered any questions Xing Shu asked without any pretenses of politeness.
It was a type of magical creature, and if classified by the terminology of exorcists, it could be considered a demon, because a snake was its true form, without the need to possess another being.
However, it believed itself to be more advanced than ordinary demons.
Because it was the servant and pet of the Demon King—one of hundreds of pets.
Though its own magical power was not strong, it could harness the Demon King’s strength to do tasks for him, as long as the Demon King allowed it.
This snake even had a name; it called itself Eroel, but Xing Shu still referred to it as “thing.”
Xing Shu asked, “Is it you that has been provoking me repeatedly?”
As he spoke, he drew the dagger he always carried to skin Eroel.
Eroel screamed in shock: “What do you mean?!”
“It’s the first time I’ve seen a demon’s true form is a snake; I’m going to skin you and study it.” Xing Shu pointed the tip of his knife at it without changing his expression.
“I’m a servant of the Demon King! I’m the Demon King’s pet! How dare you skin me; are you crazy?!”
Xing Shu replied, “I’m giving you two minutes to explain everything.”
Eroel protested, “That’s exactly what I came to talk to you about. I was going to clarify this with you tonight; why are you in such a hurry? You humans are just too awful; no wonder my master told me to teach you a lesson whenever I have the chance. As long as I don’t kill you, I’ll make you suffer a bit.”
Xing Shu: “?”
Eroel didn’t have hands; otherwise, it would be covering its mouth right now.
But it no longer mattered that it didn’t have hands; Xing Shu had already skinned it and tucked the skin into his pocket.
The demon’s true form could regenerate infinitely in the presence of sufficient demonic energy, but the pain still existed.
Eroel cried out in pain, then restored its skin, wriggling its tail to hide under a tree, beginning to explain everything in a trembling voice.
It was indeed just a not-so-smart magical pet, but due to the special circumstances, it couldn’t allow any overly clever demons to come to the human world.
Eroel had been suddenly thrown here by the Demon King; it originally had other important tasks to perform, but the situation changed, and now its main role was to deliver a message.
The most important thing it had to tell Xing Shu was: “The existence of Neshua will provoke the wrath of the gods; once divine punishment awakens, he will be doomed.”
Xing Shu asked, “What is Neshua?”
Eroel replied, “Neshua is Ye Xiyao, and Ye Xiyao is Neshua—actually, the name we left on the note was Neshua, but humans couldn’t understand it. Later, we provided a hint in another way, and the director of that orphanage cleverly named him that. Ye Xiyao, Neshua; I think they don’t resemble each other at all, but the Demon King seems to have accepted it.”
Xing Shu’s expression darkened in that instant.
He ignored Eroel’s nonsense and seized on the key point: “Say it again; who provoked the wrath of the gods, and who is going to be doomed?”
If Eroel had talked about the Demon-Slaying Array or the war between humans and demons, Xing Shu was confident he could remain calm.
But he hadn’t expected that all of this was related to Ye Xiyao.
Strictly speaking, everything was happening because of Ye Xiyao.
Ye Xiyao carried divine punishment—this was something Xing Shu had no knowledge of; he only knew that Ye Xiyao had the bloodlines of angels and demons. He had always thought that mixed blood could be some trendy lineage, only to realize now that it could lead to divine punishment.
Ye Xiyao had never mentioned divine punishment to Xing Shu, nor had Xing Shu ever asked how angels and demons fell in love.
Because every time Ye Xiyao talked about the past, about how someone grew up in human society, his expression was always so lonely that Xing Shu was reluctant to discuss those sad matters, so he didn’t pry further.
Now he regretted it; he had let slip a crucial piece of information, leading him to listen to a rambling snake talk about Ye Xiyao’s birth.
“Neshua has carried divine punishment since birth, but that divine punishment has never truly awakened. Because there are other powers in his body helping to suppress the divine punishment. However, not long ago, he absorbed a large amount of demonic energy from others, which could lead to an imbalance in his power, and once the power is imbalanced, the divine punishment could easily awaken…”
Seeing that Eroel was taking too long to speak, Xing Shu quickly walked through the snow, grabbing the triangular head of the snake under the tree, pressing it down tightly, and urged, “Get to the point; just get to the point, don’t say anything else.”
Eroel was a magical pet; it had been born to please the Demon King with witty remarks to gain power, so it was very difficult to make it serious.
But since Xing Shu had skinned it again and cut its body in half, using its own body to demonstrate how to debone a snake to its own eyes, Eroel had no choice but to find a way to make its speech concise to avoid further torment from Xing Shu.
“The power that helps suppress divine punishment comes from the divine essence of the Archangel Calocchus. Only a god can contend with a god; you can understand that, right?”
“Wait, that’s not nonsense! Listen to me, the Archangel Calocchus already had the divine essence and could become a god, but because he became pregnant with the child of a demon, he provoked the wrath of the gods. He voluntarily descended into hell, but the gods still wouldn’t let him go, fearing that his actions would corrupt other angels, so they imposed divine punishment on the child in Calocchus’s womb, condemning it to fall into demonhood at birth, to warn all angels never to conspire with demons again.”
Eroel spoke the truth of that event, which had long been distorted by rumors, at the fastest speed it had ever spoken in its life—
At that time, everyone believed that the Archangel chose to commit suicide due to being unable to endure the punishment of demonhood, but that was not the case at all.
An Archangel with divine essence could never fall into demonhood.
However, the act of angels cohabiting with demons had to be dealt with seriously.
So in the end, the punishment fell upon the child.
Theoretically, the Archangel could still become a god as long as he gave birth to the child, but in reality, he did not.
Calocchus didn’t want the child to bear his sins, so he made a decision that seemed absurd at the time but was the only feasible option:
He descended into hell with the fetus in his womb, making all angels and gods believe he was dead. In fact, he merely bestowed his divine essence upon the unborn child, while the Archangel himself, having lost his divine essence and all power, turned into a withered tree in hell.
Hell is a lifeless wasteland, and a withered tree has no chance of regrowing without any nourishment; the Archangel is no different from the dead.
The Archangel Calocchus is eternally damned to hell, which has become a well-told legend in later generations, convincing the gods in the heavens that he truly died in hell.
No one inquired about that demon child anymore, assuming he withered away in the crevices of hell along with the tree.
What no one knew was that the child was neither dead nor in hell.
Divine punishment and divine essence, two powerful forces, coexisted in Ye Xiyao’s soul, maintaining a delicate balance that helped him survive a disaster.
In the Demon King’s plan, sending Ye Xiyao to the human world was the safest and most secure method.
Barring any accidents, Ye Xiyao would never discover what he truly was, nor would any other being find out.
But both the Demon King and the Archangel made a miscalculation.
Calocchus’s divine essence was still immature; it failed to completely counteract the divine punishment. It merely suppressed the divine punishment, allowing Ye Xiyao to grow up healthy.
However, those powers still existed in Ye Xiyao’s body and soul, leading him to gradually acquire some knowledge that was not human as he grew.
Fortunately, for some reason, Ye Xiyao chose to hide himself over the years.
As a result, that delicate balance continued to protect him.
Even if Ye Xiyao knew what powers he possessed, as long as he did not draw attention, no one would know that the Archangel had given his divine essence to him.
Ye Xiyao could have lived a mundane life with no sense of existence.
Even when he later encountered that demon species, which led him to use a bit of his power, it was actually not a big deal. Because he used the power from his own demonic bloodline, that level of release would not be enough to attract the attention of the gods, and his body could slowly recover after a while.
The unfortunate part of this situation was that Ye Xiyao met Xing Shu.
The moment he first absorbed power from a human, he inadvertently obeyed an instinct brought about by divine punishment—an instinct of a succubus.
He used the power of the succubus, and that power came from divine punishment.
The precarious balance was completely shattered.
Once divine punishment was awakened, the gods would know that the child they thought had fallen into hell with the Archangel had actually been living well in the human world all these years.
He even obtained Calocchus’s divine essence.
Undoubtedly, the gods would never forgive a being that escaped punishment.
They would certainly make Ye Xiyao receive the punishment he should have faced twenty-two years ago—falling into a succubus with only instincts and no self-awareness, to atone for his birth in hell.
This is what the magical snake Eroel referred to when it said Ye Xiyao was doomed.
Everything was thrown into chaos the moment Xing Shu approached Ye Xiyao.
Thus, when Eroel said these words, it maliciously emphasized Xing Shu’s culpability.
It wanted to see Xing Shu show that panicked and tearful expression, as revenge for Xing Shu having skinned it earlier.
However, Xing Shu did not lose his rational judgment out of shock; after listening to Eroel’s words, he grasped some inconsistencies.
He asked Eroel three questions.
“First, since you came to me and didn’t kill me, it means the method to save him is with me, right? So how can I save him?”
“Second, why have you been trying to force me to retaliate? What does the Demon-Slaying Array have to do with this?”
“Third, why doesn’t he— I mean, that demon leader— come over himself and send you?”
“That’s not the demon leader; that’s the Demon King! If you don’t show him enough respect, you will be cursed.”
As Eroel said this, its forked tongue flicked out menacingly, but it quickly returned to a silly appearance, grinning widely and saying, “I can answer the first two questions together.”
Eroel continued: “The Demon-Slaying Array is the key to saving Neshua.”
Xing Shu looked at it calmly, waiting for the rest.
Eroel added, “Just give him your Demon-Slaying Array, and it will perfectly solve all problems! The Demon-Slaying Array is a blessing from the Creator God; it is powerful enough to give an ordinary person the strength to resist everything. Give it to Neshua, and when it merges with the divine essence within him, he will instantly become a god. Do you understand what this means?”
Xing Shu understood.
God cannot punish another god, so if Ye Xiyao can become a god, the divine punishment within him will naturally disappear.
Xing Shu asked, “How to give it to him?”
“It’s very simple,” Eroel said in a highly enticing tone, “Let him eat you.”
Xing Shu silently stared at it: “…”
Eroel’s expression was filled with bashful fear: “No, no, no! Don’t think of it that way. I mean really eat! Consume your body, swallow it whole, devour your soul, and then he can have everything you have.”
Xing Shu clicked his tongue: “Duh, I know what you mean.”
Both the man and the snake fell silent for a moment.
Then they spoke simultaneously:
“But I know that’s impossible.”
“He can’t eat me.”
Xing Shu rubbed his forehead, deciding to give this clever little snake a good beating.
Fortunately, Eroel was quick to escape, climbing up a tree and dangling its body while continuing, “I promise the next part is not nonsense.”
Xing Shu said, “Hurry up.”
“Let the Demon-Slaying Array devour your soul.” Eroel finally learned to be concise, “You humans call this ‘retribution,’ but it’s not really that. It’s because the suppressed demonic energy has increased, causing the array’s core to expand, turning your entire body into the array’s core. In other words, after ‘retribution,’ you will become the Demon-Slaying Array itself. At that time, when Neshua consumes your power, it will be the same as absorbing the blessings of the gods! It’s a perfect plan.”
“What happens after the retribution?” Xing Shu asked.
“Didn’t I just say? After the retribution, you will become the Demon-Slaying Array itself. The core on your left hand will seep into your soul, and you will become the vessel of the gods’ blessings. Neshua can absorb the blessing’s power through you.” Eroel thought for a moment and added, “Are you afraid of dying? Don’t worry, you won’t die. Although by then your body will be filled with demonic energy, looking like a demon, so what? You already look a lot like a demon—sorry, that was just a little joke.”
Xing Shu didn’t bother responding to that last silly joke; he just asked, “After the retribution, will I still be me?”
“Well, you will definitely still be you, but you certainly won’t be the you of this moment.” The demon snake’s tongue retracted shyly.
Suddenly, the blizzard intensified, and Eroel seemed unwilling to continue chatting with Xing Shu, hastily urging him, “You better make a decision quickly, or all of humanity will be doomed— the Demon King has already decided that if Neshua awakens the divine punishment and falls into hell, all of humanity will have to accompany him! Sacrificing yourself now can save your world and your lover. Why not? Besides, it might not even be a sacrifice; being a demon has many advantages!”
Xing Shu reached up and grabbed the snake’s head, pulling it down from the tree, nearly crushing its two bright red eyeballs: “If your so-called Demon King is so powerful, why doesn’t he come himself and instead sends you, this little pest, to waste my time?”
“Guess what? The Demon King can see everything I’m seeing right now—how profound and mysterious he is—” Eroel tried to say something witty, only to have its head crushed by Xing Shu. “Waaah! Why did you attack without saying anything!”
After crushing it, Xing Shu didn’t throw it away; he watched as it grew another head. His voice turned cold and deep: “Why doesn’t that guy come himself?”
“If the Demon King’s true form appeared here, that group of punishing angels watching him would report him immediately, and then the gods would learn about the little secret we’ve been hiding in the human world. Although the Demon King isn’t regulated by the gods, it’s best he doesn’t go against them, especially to be resurrected… Ugh! Why is the snow so heavy tonight!”
Eroel realized it had said the wrong thing and shouted, inexplicably tearing off its own head.
The newly grown snake head was somewhat stiff as it continued the previous topic, saying, “In short, the Demon King not appearing is not because he can’t come, but because he doesn’t want to attract trouble. You wouldn’t want Neshua to get into trouble, right? So, I’ve been reminding you for a long time, and we really don’t have much time left.”
Xing Shu frowned: “Why wait until it’s urgent to come and say this? You know time is short, so why didn’t you tell me directly before?”
“Who could know what kind of relationship you two have? If we were following the normal procedure, I should have crushed your bones and brought you with your soul to Neshua’s doorstep for him to consume.”
Eroel’s small snake face showed an awkward expression. “It’s very dangerous for me to come to the human world because the punishing angels are watching the Demon King; we can’t let them discover this huge secret. The fact that I could sneak out this time is thanks to them thinking I’m cute—”
In reality, it was because it was too foolish to raise anyone’s suspicion.
“—I have a heavy task and limited time, so I didn’t have time to explain to you; I just thought about finding you.”
As it turned out, the night Eroel found Xing Shu, he was driving to Ye Xiyao’s home.
Eroel, empowered by the Demon King, originally planned to severely injure Xing Shu so that Ye Xiyao could easily devour his soul.
However, by the late hours of the night, Eroel witnessed the Demon King’s son kissing his meal in the hallway.
And so everything became chaotic.
It was clear that Ye Xiyao could not eat Xing Shu now.
What was worse was that Xing Shu was preparing to report to the alliance the next morning that Ye Xiyao was a succubus.
Once this matter was publicly acknowledged among humans, Ye Xiyao’s identity would be practically fully exposed.
The gods would certainly be aware that there was a son of a demon who had received divine punishment but had not yet fallen into hell.
In the face of this urgent situation, Eroel was ordered to not return for the time being and to deal with the big trouble that was Xing Shu in the human world.
It repeatedly tried to stop Xing Shu from reporting Ye Xiyao’s identity and even used the Demon King’s power to force Xing Shu to retaliate against himself.
But as long as Ye Xiyao and Xing Shu were together, it had to hide. Because the Demon King said, “Don’t scare him.”
The situation was too complicated, and with Eroel’s small brain, it was difficult to think through the priorities.
At that moment, however, Xing Shu suddenly said, “What are you hiding?”
He was certain that Eroel had concealed some information that would be detrimental to him. It hadn’t disclosed everything.
“Alright, alright, I did hold back a little… After you experience retaliation, Neshua will need to absorb all the blessings of the gods through your body, which means humanity will lose the protection of the gods, making it easier for demons to invade the human world. If you care about this, then don’t worry—”
Eroel’s snake tail burrowed into the snow, saying to Xing Shu, “The Demon King said that if humanity is willing to sacrifice the blessings of the gods, he will personally, forever, and tirelessly protect humanity in place of the Demon-Slaying Array. In any case, if Neshua becomes a god, the Demon King won’t have much to fear.”
Xing Shu acted as if he hadn’t heard what it said and repeated, “You’re hiding something.”
Just as Eroel was about to speak, Xing Shu interrupted.
Xing Shu stared into its eyes and said, “I’m asking you, not this tongue-tied snake.”
Eroel: “…”
The snake’s vertical pupils changed colors in an instant, so quickly it felt like an illusion.
When it looked back at Xing Shu, it had shed its earlier flustered demeanor, slowly squinting its eyes, as if appraising him, and said, “I have a question for you too.”
Xing Shu remained silent.
The owner of those eyes asked him, “Do you want him to become a god or to fall into darkness?”
Xing Shu replied, “I just want him to live freely.”
“That’s good; I think we’ve reached a consensus.”
After saying this, the demon snake vanished.
It left in a hurry; it was unclear whether it was to create a sense of mystery or if those punishing angels had noticed its brief distraction.
In any case, neither the pair of eyes nor the original Eroel were in sight anymore.
The blizzard continued to intensify, showing no signs of stopping.
Xing Shu stood in place for a long time, unsure whether he was waiting for the snow to stop or for that silly snake to appear again. In any case, he waited for nothing.
Before dawn, he confirmed that there would be no follow-up that night and began to walk back.
Xing Shu clearly saw the way home and stepped through the snowstorm one step at a time, but at that moment he suddenly felt as if he had lost his direction.
He didn’t understand how things had turned out this way.
He would rather face a powerful enemy today than hear the other party say they had reached a consensus.
The future was as white and blinding as this blizzard, clouding his eyes.
–
Before dawn, Xing Shu returned home.
Fortunately, Ye Xiyao had not yet woken up, still peacefully nestled under the covers.
As soon as he entered the house, a gust of cold wind followed him in.
Ye Xiyao, wrapped in the blankets, was awakened by the chill and opened his eyes.
Xing Shu was exhausted, both physically and mentally, but the moment he saw Ye Xiyao, he came alive.
He quickly took off his coat and stood in the warm air to shake off the cold before rushing over to embrace Ye Xiyao.
“Did I wake you?” Xing Shu kissed the top of Ye Xiyao’s head, then his forehead, the bridge of his nose, and finally the corner of his lips, kissing him lightly while asking, “Did you have any nightmares today?”
In fact, he was feeling an unprecedented confusion inside, but he didn’t want Ye Xiyao to notice.
Ye Xiyao shifted uncomfortably in his arms, poking his chin out from his neck and softly asking, “Where did you go?”
Xing Shu replied, “It’s snowing outside.”
He couldn’t even come up with a lie, so he resorted to meaningless chatter, saying, “It’s freezing, don’t go to work today, and don’t go in the future either.”
Fortunately, Ye Xiyao didn’t ask him why he had come back from outside; instead, he obediently nestled in Xing Shu’s embrace and said, “What are we going to do if we don’t go to work?”
Xing Shu was silent for a moment before saying, “Let’s run away.”
Ye Xiyao laughed: “Okay.”
Xing Shu asked him, “Are we really running away?”
Ye Xiyao replied, “Of course.”
Xing Shu said, “You’re not going to ask me where we’re running to or why? You’re just going to follow me?”
Ye Xiyao responded, “Mhm.”
Xing Shu suddenly felt like there was a needle stuck in his throat; it hurt to speak and even to be silent.
He believed this matter couldn’t be hidden.
Eroel spoke without evidence; who knew if its master was really Ye Xiyao’s father? What if it was a demon in disguise, trying to deceive him?
If Xing Shu became flustered and was deceived by the other party, it would be a shameful and deadly situation.
What Xing Shu needed to do now was to discuss what to do with Ye Xiyao.
But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t bring himself to say it.
He had a guess in his heart, and he felt that Ye Xiyao probably guessed it too.
If he spoke, then this matter would become impossible.
Xing Shu was particularly afraid to see an uneasy expression on Ye Xiyao’s face, especially afraid of the disappointment that would seep into those beautiful, amber-like transparent pupils.
He could still recall the moment he confessed to Ye Xiyao that he was an exorcist, and the look of fear in Ye Xiyao’s eyes for just that instant. That fleeting fear was enough to cause Xing Shu pain, making him feel as if he could never redeem that moment in his lifetime.
Xing Shu couldn’t imagine what a person truly punished by the gods would become. One thing was certain: a succubus who had lost its reason and was left with only instinct would certainly not find any warmth in hell.
The most cruel thing was that divine punishment was endless.
If a human endured suffering for their whole life, there would eventually be an end. But a succubus punished by the gods would live eternally in such misery.
In other words, if the news brought by Eroel was true, then Xing Shu had no choice at all.
He must save Ye Xiyao.
“Xing Shu, when are you most afraid of in your life?” Ye Xiyao, probably unable to fall asleep after waking up, suddenly brought up a topic to chat with Xing Shu.
Xing Shu blurted out, “Confessing to you that I’m an exorcist.”
And not long ago, when he had just heard that Ye Xiyao was under divine punishment.
Ye Xiyao turned over, lying on top of Xing Shu, resting his chin on his arm, his eyes sparkling as he looked at him: “Is that the only thing?”
Xing Shu pursed his lips, hesitated for a while, and was just about to speak when Ye Xiyao suddenly interrupted, saying, “I have many things I’m afraid of.”
Xing Shu asked him, “What are you afraid of?”
Ye Xiyao replied, “Every day before I met you, I was very afraid.”
Xing Shu pinched his face, joking, “Really? Did I give you such a great sense of security?”
“I used to be afraid of hunger, cold, not making money, exposing my secrets, having no place to go, and being unable to control myself and harm humans.”
Ye Xiyao counted on his fingers and then said, “Back then, the most important thing in life was to keep secrets. So I worked hard to hide my presence, making sure no one noticed me. I had no friends, didn’t like to chat, and was always alone… Until I met you, many things changed. Maybe it was coincidence, maybe it was part of your ‘mission.’ Regardless, my life now is much happier than before.”
After Ye Xiyao finished speaking, he suddenly lowered his head and sniffed at Xing Shu, casually finishing his last sentence—
“After enjoying such a life, I realized that the days of the past were completely meaningless. If the purpose of my existence is just to live, exhausting every means, living as if I had never existed… then why should I continue living?”
“Is this a tongue twister?” Xing Shu teased.
But Ye Xiyao didn’t laugh. He reached into Xing Shu’s pocket and pulled out a few pieces of shed snake skin.
Xing Shu’s vision darkened: “……”
How could he have forgotten about this!
Ye Xiyao threw the snake skin on the ground and said nothing. He looked very calm, which indicated that, before discovering the snake skin, Ye Xiyao probably already knew something.
Xing Shu poked Ye Xiyao’s foot with his toes, and Ye Xiyao bit him.
Given this situation, it seemed he wasn’t really angry. Xing Shu tentatively said, “What if I told you I went hunting? I was planning to make you a snake skin glove.”
Ye Xiyao angrily nibbled on his neck, almost drawing blood, then gently licked it with his soft tongue.
Xing Shu was so flustered that all his thoughts flew out of his mind, and he felt hot all over—of course, it was also quite possible that he had frostbite from the snow tonight and was now running a slight fever.
Ye Xiyao didn’t interrogate Xing Shu about who he had met tonight, what he had said, or what decisions he had made in his heart. He just lay on top of Xing Shu, using a spoiled tone to softly say, “Xing Shu, let’s run away.”
