Is a Succubus Considered a Demon? – CH20

Chapter 20

Originally, Qiao Linchuan had arranged for everyone to go to a bar for drinks after their dinner gathering. Ye Xiyao had never participated in such group activities before and had only heard of places like bars and pubs from others. He had never set foot in one himself, so he found it all very new and wanted to give it a try.

However, just as they were about to head out, Xing Xu spoke up.

“That’s enough for tonight. Why bother going to a bar? Everyone should just head home.”

His tone was full of authority, commanding and overbearing.

Even though everyone felt like he was being a buzzkill, no one dared to voice any objections, fearing Xing Xu might single them out to make an example of.

But one person, bold enough, muttered, “We’re going.”

Both Qiao Linchuan and Lu Kou wanted to cover Ye Xiyao’s mouth, but it was too late.

Xing Xu turned slowly and asked Ye Xiyao, “What did you say?”

Ye Xiyao, slightly tipsy, looked at him with unwavering confidence and said, “I said I’m going.”

Xing Xu approached him, looking down coldly, and asked in his usual stern and intimidating tone, “Do you even know where you’re going and what you’re doing?”

Ye Xiyao responded with utmost seriousness, “I’m going to mess around in the bar, Xing Xu.”

Xing Xu: “…?”

He finally realized that the intimidation that worked on everyone else had no effect whatsoever on Ye Xiyao.

Qiao Linchuan, worried that the two might get into a fight —though Ye Xiyao wouldn’t stand a chance, the main concern was Xing Xu’s unpredictable temper — quickly stepped in and explained to Xing Xu, “Don’t worry, I found a quiet cocktail bar, not some chaotic nightclub. I know what I’m doing; I’m definitely not taking him to mess around.”

Ye Xiyao raised his hand, “I want to mess around.”

Qiao Linchuan pressed his hand down, “Ancestor, don’t say that in front of him.”

Xing Xu raised an eyebrow, “Is this what you’ve been teaching him?”

The implication was clear: behind his back, they were allowed to do anything they wanted? Was Qiao Linchuan tired of living?

But in the end, they still went to the originally planned quiet bar.

It wasn’t that Xing Xu suddenly relaxed; it was just that he couldn’t win against Ye Xiyao.

After getting drunk, Ye Xiyao seemed more like a child. Or perhaps, there was an inherent innocence and boldness in his nature, driven by a stubborn curiosity to explore things that interested him.

The way he glared at Xing Xu was full of courage, and no one could stop him.

Xing Xu had no choice but to coax him softly, “You’re only allowed one drink, and after that, I’ll take you home.”

Only then did Ye Xiyao smile for the first time that night at Xing Xu, a smile that immediately softened Xing Xu’s annoyance. And so, he accompanied him to the bar.

Once there, under Xing Xu’s stern gaze, Qiao Linchuan secretly swapped Ye Xiyao’s cocktail for a non-alcoholic drink. Xing Xu nodded in approval of his quick thinking.

They thought that after finishing the drink, the night would quickly end, but then a small incident occurred.

At first, a guest from another table sent Ye Xiyao a drink.

Xing Xu immediately intercepted it with a frown. Everyone else agreed that Xing Xu did the right thing; after all, even in a quiet bar, everyone knew what it meant when someone sent a drink.

Ye Xiyao looked longingly at the drink, but Xing Xu took it away, saying, “You’re not allowed to drink anything from strangers.”

Though tipsy, Ye Xiyao understood Xing Xu’s meaning and obediently nodded, “Alright.”

Xing Xu’s expression softened a bit.

But just two minutes later, someone else approached with something for Ye Xiyao.

This time, it wasn’t a server, but a refined-looking man wearing glasses, holding a palm-sized roly-poly toy.

Ye Xiyao, in his slightly dazed state, managed to understand what the man was saying.

The man explained that he had watched Ye Xiyao’s live streams before and had even sent him virtual gifts. He was surprised to have run into him in person, thinking it was a sign of fate. He mentioned that he had also purchased a full set of AR equipment after being influenced by Ye Xiyao’s recommendations for a game called Keda.

The man said he was visiting Lucheng as a tourist and would be leaving the next day. He had originally bought the roly-poly as a souvenir for a friend but decided to give it to Ye Xiyao as a keepsake instead.

When the man started praising the game Keda and mentioned that the AR equipment from Qiashou had a much better user experience compared to other brands he had purchased, everyone’s guard relaxed a little. Even Qiao Linchuan couldn’t help but chat with him for a bit.

Only Xing Xu was still staring at the man with a cold, stern expression, which made the guy so nervous that he awkwardly adjusted his glasses several times before quickly setting the gift down and running off.

Qiao Linchuan teased Xing Xu, “You’re like his guardian.”

Xing Xu didn’t respond, but his gaze subtly followed the man as he left.

“How cute,” Ye Xiyao said, hugging the roly-poly toy with pure joy, completely forgetting about the cocktail he had been clinging to earlier.

Xing Xu turned back to him. “You like the roly-poly?”

Ye Xiyao shook his head. “I like gifts. This is the second gift I’ve ever received.”

He tilted his head up, smiling at Xing Xu. “The first one was from you.”

Everyone, including Xing Xu, froze for a moment.

Clearly, what Ye Xiyao had just said couldn’t be true.

With a face as captivating as his, he should have enjoyed a youth filled with attention and admiration. The image they had of Ye Xiyao’s teenage years was one where he would have been surrounded by admirers, flooded with love letters and gifts. Even walking down the street, he would have likely received gestures of affection from many.

But Ye Xiyao said that the toy Xing Xu gave him was his first gift.

Who could believe that?

Suddenly, Qin Zai asked from the side, “Xiao Ye, has anyone ever pursued you?”

Everyone widened their eyes.

They hadn’t expected Qin Zai to ask such a question, but they were indeed curious about Ye Xiyao’s answer.

By human nature, someone as beautiful as Ye Xiyao surely must have had admirers. Yet, there was something pure and simple about him, as if he hadn’t had much experience being pursued. His excitement over receiving something as small as a roly-poly toy was enough to make everyone wonder about the answer to this question.

All eyes were on him, except for Xing Xu, who took a long gulp of ice water, pretending to be completely disinterested and looking elsewhere.

“No,” Ye Xiyao answered honestly.

Qiao Linchuan blurted, “No way!”

Even the drunk Xu Xingyang chimed in, muttering in his sleep, “Absolutely impossible!”

Lu Kou tried to find some logic in the answer, speculating, “Maybe people think you’re out of their league, so they don’t approach you.”

Ye Xiyao pressed his lips together, using the last bit of clarity he had to restrain himself from saying things he shouldn’t.

“Then you’ve never been in a relationship either?” Qin Zai, unusually persistent on this topic, asked again.

Lu Kou, seeing Ye Xiyao’s silence, assumed he was just being shy and kicked Qin Zai. “What business is that of yours? Stop asking!”

Qin Zai shrugged, “I’m just curious. Don’t you guys think Xiao Ye’s vibe is kind of contradictory? We all agree he’s incredibly attractive, but it seems like he has no idea. I’m curious if the people around him before were all blind or something.”

Even Qiao Linchuan couldn’t help but probe further. “Xiaobao, did you ever hold hands or kiss anyone when you were in school?”

At that moment, Xing Xu, who had been silent all along, suddenly choked on his ice water.

He coughed twice.

Ye Xiyao shook his head at the question.

Xing Xu coughed again.

Ignoring the odd noise coming from Xing Xu, Qiao Linchuan grew more excited and asked, “So you’ve never been in a relationship or kissed anyone?!”

Ye Xiyao repeated his answer, “No.”

He had been invisible all his life. Who would date or kiss thin air?

While everyone was expressing their shock and disbelief, there was a sudden ‘bang’ from Xing Xu’s direction.

He had slammed his water glass down on the table.

This immediately drew everyone’s attention to him.

Xing Xu’s expression was strange, and he stared at Ye Xiyao intensely. Then he asked, “Are you saying you’ve never kissed anyone?”

Ye Xiyao answered calmly and frankly, “That’s right.”

Xing Xu stared at him for a long time, so long that everyone thought he was about to make some sarcastic or cutting remark. But instead, he turned his head and let out a cold laugh: “Hmph.”

Then, with a crack, the glass shattered in his hand, scattering clear shards all over the floor.

An hour later, Ye Xiyao was forcibly sent home by Xing Xu.

At first, Ye Xiyao insisted on taking a taxi himself, but despite Xing Xu’s awkward attempts at being gentle and coaxing him for a long time, all he got from Ye Xiyao was a firm “No.”

Xing Xu rubbed his temples, gave up on further persuasion, and simply picked Ye Xiyao up, put him in the front seat, buckled the seatbelt tightly, and declared the job done.

This scene made Qiao Linchuan and Lu Kou, watching nearby, shiver with fear. They were so frustrated they could hardly bear it. “Why are you being so rough? Be gentler when you carry him! Don’t fasten the seatbelt so tight! Can’t you be more gentle?”

Xing Xu suppressed his impatience, his eyebrows twitching from holding back his frustration as Qiao Linchuan and Lu Kou chattered on endlessly in the background.

Finally seated in the car, he slammed the door shut, blocking out all the noise, and sped away.

There was no way he was going to explain to them. He had already used the gentlest strength of his life when he picked up Ye Xiyao, afraid of hurting or breaking him. How much more gentle could he be?

Luckily, once Ye Xiyao was in the car, he behaved. Contrary to Xing Xu’s expectations, he didn’t throw a tantrum or demand to get out of the car.

He quietly hugged the roly-poly toy. At first, he kept his head down, but gradually, he relaxed, leaning his head against the window as if he’d fallen asleep.

Xing Xu glanced over at him and then slowed down the car, driving steadily. Ye Xiyao, in his awkward sleeping posture, didn’t bump into anything even once.

When Ye Xiyao finally woke up, the car had already stopped in front of his apartment building.

He slowly opened his eyes, unsure of how long he had been asleep, and groggily looked over at Xing Xu through the lingering haze of alcohol.

It just so happened that Xing Xu was looking at him too—though perhaps it wasn’t a coincidence, but rather, Xing Xu had been holding that position for a while.

Ye Xiyao, flustered by the gaze, forgot even the basic courtesy of saying thank you. He quickly pushed at the car door and mumbled, “I… I’m home now. Goodbye, manager Xing.”

But the door wouldn’t open.

Xing Xu asked him, “Sober yet?”

Ye Xiyao, sensing that Xing Xu might be about to settle some accounts with him, quickly replied, “Not sober yet.”

“Then keep sleeping,” Xing Xu said lazily, propping his chin up on his hand. “We’ll talk when you wake up.”

The atmosphere in the car suddenly went quiet.

Ye Xiyao said nothing, and Xing Xu remained silent as well. The two sat there, one looking at the other, the other staring out the window, and this awkward standoff lasted for over two minutes.

Eventually, it was Xing Xu who couldn’t stand the long silence and spoke first. “Ye Xiyao.”

Ye Xiyao rested his chin on his hand, ignoring him.

“Xiaobao,” Xing Xu suddenly called him by that nickname.

Ye Xiyao’s fingers, which were resting on the car lock, trembled slightly as he whispered, “…Don’t call me that.”

“I heard them calling you that all night, and you didn’t seem to mind,” Xing Xu teased, drawing out each word slowly as he repeated the nickname, “Xiao… Bao.”

Ye Xiyao’s ears flushed with heat. “You’re not allowed to call me that.”

He wasn’t sure why Xing Xu couldn’t call him that. Maybe because when Qiao Linchuan and Lu Kou said it, it felt casual, no different from calling him “Xiao Ye.”

But when Xing Xu said it, it sounded like he was teasing him.

Xing Xu’s voice was deep, yet when he said “Xiaobao,” it carried a playful tone, dragging out the syllables, making Ye Xiyao feel embarrassed.

“You won’t let me call you this, you won’t let me call you that. Let me think, what else do they call you during your streams?” Xing Xu, his mischievous intentions obvious, lowered his voice and called him again, “Baby?”

Ye Xiyao flinched dramatically, instinctively pressing at the car door lock in a panic. When the door didn’t respond, he started picking at the gap, trying to avoid responding. In reality, he was already thoroughly embarrassed.

Xing Xu said, “I wasn’t right the other day. Don’t be mad at me.”

Ye Xiyao had been busy fiddling with the door gap, but when he heard that, he suddenly stopped and looked at Xing Xu with some hesitation.

However, Xing Xu had already turned away, hiding his expression. He unlocked the door, his tone somewhat stiff. “Go home and get some rest. If you notice anyone strange hanging around the next couple of days, contact me immediately.”

The car door clicked open, and Ye Xiyao finally got out.

But he didn’t walk away right away. Instead, he stood still for a moment.

Xing Xu thought he was still too drunk to move and was about to get out and help him when he suddenly saw Ye Xiyao running around the front of the car and coming over to his side to pull open the door.

Xing Xu: “…?”

Before he could react, Ye Xiyao threw himself into Xing Xu’s arms and even rubbed his face against his neck.

Xing Xu’s body tensed like never before. “You…”

Ye Xiyao, with little courage left, already had a flushed face by this point. After the hug, he quickly let go and turned his face away, saying, “I’m not mad anymore. You, drive safely on your way back. I’m going home now.”

Then he turned and ran, as if he were afraid Xing Xu would chase after him and ask why he had hugged him so suddenly.

In reality, Xing Xu couldn’t even find the words to ask.

His mind was still blank as he watched Ye Xiyao’s figure disappear into the distant lights. Only then did he awkwardly turn his gaze back, wipe his face with a hand, and realize that the warmth from Ye Xiyao’s embrace still lingered in his arms, refusing to fade.

“…Completely ridiculous.” Xing Xu, using a tone of complaint, repeated this several times. “Absolutely ridiculous.”

It took him about ten minutes to finally start the car and turn around to leave.

Every moment spent dealing with this “demon” felt like walking on thin ice, as if one wrong move would send him spiraling into a carefully crafted illusion.

Xing Xu warned himself: don’t underestimate him, don’t fall for the trap, and definitely…

Don’t become obsessed.

With a roar, the car sped off into the distance.

Had it not been for the fact that Xing Xu’s mind was so preoccupied, and he couldn’t help glancing in the rearview mirror back toward the direction Ye Xiyao had left, he might have missed the shadowy figure lurking in the corner.

The person hiding in the dark had clearly been waiting for a long time, anxious to make a move as soon as Xing Xu left. He hadn’t even driven far before the figure hurriedly slipped into Ye Xiyao’s apartment complex.

Xing Xu didn’t even bother stopping. He made a sharp turn and sped back in pursuit.

Even demons couldn’t escape Xing Xu’s hunt, let alone some shady guy wearing glasses, stalking Ye Xiyao.

It didn’t take Xing Xu more than five minutes to catch the man at the entrance of Ye Xiyao’s building. With one hand, he grabbed the man and tossed him into the bushes.

The man, feeling guilty, didn’t dare make a sound, which gave Xing Xu the opportunity to punch him twice swiftly.

By the time the man’s glasses were shattered under Xing Xu’s foot, he still hadn’t fully grasped what was happening. Once he did, the pain started creeping through his entire body.

His face hit the dirt as he lay there awkwardly, crying out, “I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I won’t do it again!”

The man confessed without needing much force, and Xing Xu knew immediately that he was the person who had been stalking Ye Xiyao recently.

What surprised Xing Xu was when he saw the man’s face—it was the same guy who had given Ye Xiyao the roly-poly doll at the bar tonight.

Xing Xu’s anger flared instantly. He squatted down, grabbed the man’s hair, and slammed his head against the ground. In the stillness of the night, he growled menacingly, “You’ve got some nerve pulling this under my nose. Tired of living?”

“S-sorry… uggh!”

Xing Xu, being experienced in these matters, knew how to silence the man by cutting off his air, making it impossible for him to shout—only the desperate sound of gasping for breath escaped him.

Satisfied after a solid beating, Xing Xu loosened his grip and began interrogating him.

In this situation, even demons wouldn’t dare resist, let alone a mere human. Naturally, the man answered everything Xing Xu asked.

“When did you start stalking him?”

“S-stalking? I wasn’t stalking him!”

Xing Xu, growing impatient, clicked his tongue and raised his hand to intimidate him.

The man immediately curled up, clutching his head, and cried out, “I-I really wasn’t stalking him! Running into you tonight was just a coincidence. The camera inside the roly-poly was meant for someone else, but when I saw Ye Xiao… ouch! That hurts!”

He had only said Ye Xiyao’s name and was already kicked, making him even more cautious in his words. “I watched his stream the other day and became infatuated with him. I thought I’d never get a chance to see him, but when I ran into him today, I couldn’t resist and changed my mind, giving him the roly-poly. I swear I wasn’t stalking him! Please, big bro, just take me to the police station, I’m begging you!”

Xing Xu’s frown deepened as he caught the key word: “Camera?”

“There’s a camera and a tracker inside the roly-poly doll,” the man sobbed. “I didn’t think he’d actually take it! He’d rejected my gifts several times before… please, spare my life…”

It turned out this man was a repeat offender, using gifts as a way to get close to his targets, hiding things inside them to satisfy his twisted voyeuristic desires.

When he decided to give the roly-poly doll to Ye Xiyao tonight, he didn’t really expect it to succeed. After all, Ye Xiyao seemed like the kind of person who frequently received gifts and confessions, and was unlikely to be impressed by such trinkets. But Ye Xiyao was such an irresistible target for voyeurism that he decided to give it a try despite his doubts.

To his surprise, everything went smoothly.

The gift was easily accepted.

For over twenty years, Ye Xiyao hadn’t received many gifts. Whether it was the rabbit Xing Xu gave him or the roly-poly from a stranger, he simply saw them as kind gestures and accepted them without a second thought. He had no sense of caution.

“He trusts you unconditionally, and this is how you repay his trust?” Xing Xu clenched the man’s throat, barely restraining himself from snapping his neck. “Even demons aren’t as cunning as you, you scumbag.”

Then came another beating, every punch aimed at non-lethal spots—painful, but not enough to make the man pass out.

There was a police station near Ye Xiyao’s home, so Xing Xu effortlessly threw the man in there.

But after returning to the car, Xing Xu sat in silence for a long time, staring at a phone that wasn’t his. It belonged to the man with glasses, connected to the camera hidden inside the roly-poly.

Xing Xu initially planned to find Ye Xiyao and tell him to throw the stupid doll away.

But the moment he dropped the man off at the police station, it hit him:

What was he doing? Protecting a demon?

Not to mention that with Ye Xiyao’s power, protecting himself wasn’t an issue. As for the camera, Xing Xu thought it would be a waste to simply toss it out.

From a mission perspective, this was a golden opportunity.

If Ye Xiyao truly had no idea there was a camera in the roly-poly, this would be the perfect chance to surveil the demon.

On the other hand, if Ye Xiyao had already sensed something was off and accepted the gift just to appear innocent, only to dismantle the camera upon returning home, that would be fine too. The entire situation had nothing to do with Xing Xu and wouldn’t expose his identity.

In every way, it was beneficial. So why bother warning Ye Xiyao?

It must be the demon’s influence clouding his judgment.

Regaining his composure, Xing Xu decided to check the live feed from the camera while sitting in the car.

He definitely wasn’t curious about what Ye Xiyao was doing right now, nor was he interested in what Ye Xiyao’s home looked like.

As an undercover agent in this mission, he needed to see the demon’s true nature behind closed doors.

As soon as the video opened, the usually composed Xing Xu was startled. On screen was Ye Xiyao—staring directly back at him.

After a brief pause, he realized that Ye Xiyao was probably just looking at the roly-poly doll.

It had been almost twenty minutes since they parted ways. If it were Xing Xu, that would’ve been enough time to shower and fall asleep. But Ye Xiyao, who had been home alone, still seemed wide awake.

Xing Xu put on his headphones and turned the volume up.

“You like that name? Ye Bu Dao, haha, Ye Bu Dao. Or we could call you Ye Weng, but that makes you sound a lot older, huh?”

Xing Xu rubbed his eyes and adjusted his headphones, making sure he wasn’t hallucinating.

Was Ye Xiyao… talking to the roly-poly?

“How about this, I’ll play rock-paper-scissors with my left and right hands. If you win, you’ll be called Ye Bu Dao. If I win, you’ll be called Ye Weng.”

“Oh no, it’s a tie—they both chose scissors… Guess you’ll be called Ye Da Ping.”

Xing Xu: “…?”

Ye Da Ping? What kind of ridiculous name is that?

But, coming from Ye Xiyao, it sounded… kind of cute.

“Let me introduce you to our family members. This senior here is called Ye Lao Shi. It’s been with me the longest, so you should show it some respect.”

“And this one, just like you, hasn’t been with me for long. It’s called Ye Ke Ai. Look, its ears can stand up! Isn’t that adorable? That’s why it’s called Ye Ke Ai!”

Xing Xu was certain he hadn’t seen wrong.

Ye Ke Ai was the rabbit he had given to Ye Xiyao.

What could he even say to that?

This guy really is a genius at naming things.

— “In this household, whoever is the most favored has the highest status, and whoever has the highest status gets to sleep next to me. Since you’re new, and you’re from a stranger, I can’t give you a high rank just yet. But don’t worry, if you stick around long enough, your status will rise. Don’t rush for quick success.”

Xing Xu couldn’t help but laugh, “Ye Xiyao… is this really how you are at home?”

— “What? You want to ask, ‘Why does Ye Ke Ai get to sleep next to me even though it’s new too?’ Well, that’s a complicated question. But I can give you a simple explanation.”

— “It’s because Ye Ke Ai was a gift from Xing Xu.”

— “Xing Xu is the first friend I’ve ever made in this world, and I really treasure him. So, naturally, the rabbit he gave me holds a bit more importance. Got it?”

— “You remember Xing Xu, right? He even gave us a ride home earlier. He’s very kind, with a great personality. I always feel especially safe around him… I used to think he didn’t care about me, but today he even apologized to me. He definitely thinks of me as a friend too… Hey, Ye Da Ping, why are you shaking your head? That’s rude. You’re not allowed to dislike Xing Xu because I really like him.”

‘Thud!’ Xing Xu’s head hit the car roof.

He wasn’t sure why he reacted so strongly, suddenly sitting up straight.

Xing Xu began mentally explaining Ye Xiyao’s behavior to himself:

Ye Xiyao must be putting on another act.

Demons are great at acting, at deceiving and seducing, and they know exactly how to manipulate humans.

Clearly, Ye Xiyao was saying these things for Xing Xu to hear, to mess with him…

Wait.

Xing Xu suddenly couldn’t explain it anymore.

Because he realized that Ye Xiyao didn’t even know there was a camera in the roly-poly doll.

Even if he somehow knew about the camera, there was no way he could know that Xing Xu was the one watching. Why would he confess his “feelings” to a random voyeur?

So…

Were those words not meant for Xing Xu, but Ye Xiyao’s true feelings?

“Ye Xiyao, you…” Xing Xu’s hand instinctively rested on the screen, as if he could touch the smile on Ye Xiyao’s face through it. “Which part of what you said is real?”

On screen, Ye Xiyao chuckled, then stood up and stretched.

— “It’s so late already. Da Ping, you chat with Lao Shi and Ke Ai for now. Try to fit into the family as soon as possible. I’m going to take a shower, and I’ll come back to keep you company later.”

Then, Xing Xu watched as Ye Xiyao grabbed his pajamas from the bed and happily bounced into the bathroom.

“What’s he so happy about all the time?”

Xing Xu laughed softly and poked the screen a couple of times, as if trying to pull Ye Xiyao out of it.

But he soon realized how ridiculous he was being and withdrew his hand.

After Ye Xiyao entered the bathroom and left the camera’s view, Xing Xu, for some reason, felt a lot better and thought keeping the surveillance was a good idea.

But just as he was about to turn off the video and drive home, he saw a shadow flash across the screen.

Was there… someone else in Ye Xiyao’s house?

No, that couldn’t be right.

Xing Xu’s brow furrowed as his body tensed.

Ye Xiyao hadn’t spoken to anyone else in the house, which meant he probably didn’t know there was another person there.

Xing Xu suddenly recalled what the man with glasses had said earlier.

— I wasn’t stalking him!

Xing Xu believed that under the circumstances, beaten half to death, the man wouldn’t have lied about that.

So the person stalking Ye Xiyao wasn’t the guy who gave the roly-poly doll but someone else.

And now, it seemed like that person had already snuck into Ye Xiyao’s home.

The veins in Xing Xu’s forehead bulged, though he wasn’t sure why he felt so anxious.

Ye Xiyao is a demon.

A demon couldn’t possibly be harmed by any human.

Even if the stalker were to make a move against Ye Xiyao tonight, the only life in danger would be that human’s.

If he were thinking clearly, Xing Xu would have understood this.

But as he stared at the shadow flickering on the surveillance feed, he couldn’t calm down.

Especially when the person finally stepped out of the corner and into the frame, with a sickeningly triumphant smile on his face, an uncontrollable surge of murderous intent welled up within Xing Xu.

He quickly took out his phone, intending to call Ye Xiyao and warn him.

But then he tightened his grip, and the phone screen shattered with a crack.

Ye Xiyao was in the bathroom right now. There was at least a door between him and the intruder.

If he heard the phone ring, he’d definitely come out to answer it, and he might not be dressed.

Xing Xu involuntarily pictured the scene: Ye Xiyao walking out completely naked, only to stumble upon the lurking intruder…

“Shit!”

He cursed under his breath, slammed on the gas pedal, and sped toward Ye Xiyao’s house as fast as possible.
