Chapter 80: Ambers of the Long Night (36)
Inside the Lost City, Tang Mobai and his group had long been unable to access their chips, so none of them had checked their levels for quite some time. It was only now that Tang Mobai suddenly realized — at some point, his level had reached Lv. 99.

[Potential Rating: MAX]
All the demon live streams went completely silent for several seconds — even the viewers forgot to comment. Everyone, demons included, stared blankly at Tang Mobai, who had literally fallen from the sky.
[Huh? Huh??? This—he… what?!]
[Where’s the prophet who predicted this? Stand up! Tang Mobai actually fell from the sky!]
[Wait, how did they suddenly appear here?! Weren’t they still in the Lost City? Even an emergency descent couldn’t be this fast!]
[Holy crap, he’s really here! Hold up—what’s Tang Mobai’s level again? Is this gonna change the entire match?!]
[Newbie question—aren’t hunger demons way weaker? Isn’t he just walking into death? Who here could he even beat?!]
[Exactly! Ge Guang and his group were forged in Crisis Hell. Compared to that, Hunger Hell is practically heaven.]
[…Not necessarily. Did you all forget about the Super Intelligence? I swear I have a very bad feeling right now.]
[The one above… I think your bad feeling’s about to come true.]
[Uh-oh… Ge Guang’s face looks like he’s about to eat someone alive. Don’t tell me—]
[Don’t tell me… he’s just inherited it, just like that?!]
[Super Intelligence Transfer Progress: 100% (Complete)]
Ge Guang lifted his head, his expression still stunned — clearly unable to process the massive reversal that had just happened. He had spent everything — his schemes, his fortune, his resources — all to seize the Super Intelligence Core. And yet, at the very last moment, just as success was within reach, a bunch of Hunger Hell demons had fallen out of the sky, stepped on him, and stolen it right out from under him.
How was that fair?!
Yan Wuzhen and Seth instantly sensed the murderous intent radiating from Ge Guang and knew something was wrong. Seth grabbed Deville, dragging his injured leg as they escaped the range of the Turtle Shield. Yan Wuzhen tried to pull Tang Mobai away too — but found him frozen in place, unmoving, his eyes flickering with white data streams as if his soul had left his body.
A chill ran through Yan Wuzhen’s heart. He tried to hoist Tang Mobai by force — but at that moment, Ge Guang snapped out of his shock. His lips trembled with fury, bloodshot veins spreading across his eyes. He yanked out the most powerful firearm in his inventory and aimed straight at Tang Mobai’s forehead.
“Die!!”
The bullet — blazing with fire — tore through the air toward Tang Mobai’s brow. But just before it hit, the bullet vanished, reappearing harmlessly behind him.
“Delete layer. Move data,” Tang Mobai murmured softly, lowering his gaze to meet Ge Guang’s as he rose from the ground.
Even in his rage, Ge Guang couldn’t stop the shiver that ran through him when he met Tang Mobai’s eyes. The amber in them was gone — replaced by white data streams, cold and inorganic, like a god’s gaze cast down from the heavens.
Ge Guang instantly sobered. Without a word, he turned and fled while Tang Mobai still hadn’t moved to strike.
“Tang… Mobai?” Yan Wuzhen gripped his sleeve tightly, his expression grave.
Tang Mobai didn’t respond.
It was hard to describe what he was seeing now — what kind of colors filled his vision. Back at the academic conference, they had already learned this world was virtual, a construct within a computer. But everything had always felt too real — indistinguishable from reality itself.
Now, at last, the world’s true form was laid bare before him.
Zeroes and ones flickered in front of his eyes. Everything — everything in sight — was composed of data strings and code. If Tang Mobai willed it, he could freely move or modify that data — just like earlier, when he had altered the spatial parameters around the bullet, relocating it behind him.
If he wanted to, he could make the sun set, raise the moon, or make both share the same sky. He could turn land into ocean and ocean into land.
They had guessed correctly — within this virtual world, the Super Intelligence Core granted near-absolute administrative control. It was, in essence, godhood.
Of course, Tang Mobai couldn’t just do whatever he wanted. The virtual world was a delicate data structure meticulously built by the Super Intelligence. Change the wrong parameter, and a region’s operational code could collapse entirely. The world was already unstable — a few more collapses, and it could mean total destruction.
Even that small spatial edit earlier had been risky. No wonder the Queen rarely acted — every use of Super Intelligence authority carried the risk of creating fatal bugs.
If a demon had obtained the Core, the world’s destruction wouldn’t have mattered. But Tang Mobai and his team wanted to save this world — and so, like the Queen, they were bound by the same constraint: they couldn’t act recklessly. They had to fight while maintaining the system’s balance.
Still, not everything was off-limits.
“Huh,” Tang Mobai murmured, his gaze flicking toward a data menu that had just appeared before him. “This function… looks kind of interesting…”
“Hey! Tang Mobai!”
Outside, Yan Wuzhen didn’t know what Tang Mobai was seeing — only that after seemingly inheriting the Super AI, he suddenly froze, unmoving. Thinking the inheritance ceremony had been tampered with, Yan quickly turned toward Nahem and the Queen.
After the AI detached from the Queen, the woman fell unconscious, supported by Nahem, who kept calling Opatra’s name in panic — but she wouldn’t wake up.
It didn’t look like their doing, so what was going on?
Realizing something had changed, Ge Guang and You Le exchanged glances and instantly reached an agreement.
No matter who ended up with the Super AI, it must not be Tang Mobai and those demons from Hungry Hell — otherwise, they’d lose all face in Crisis Hell!
[Move in!]
You Le had already sent a signal to the snipers from his guild hidden nearby once Ge Guang was chosen. Now, those snipers took aim at Tang Mobai, who stood motionless.
Originally, none of them dared act — if Tang Mobai really had full access to the Super AI’s permissions, attacking him would be suicide. But since things seemed uncertain now, and the main quest hadn’t shown as “completed,” they had to seize the chance.
Just as the sniper was about to fire, Tang Mobai suddenly raised his head, glanced directly at the sniper’s position — and smirked.
BOOM!
A deafening explosion erupted behind them. Instinctively, everyone dove to the ground.
Two or three seconds later, You Le dared to look back — and froze. The building where the sniper had been stationed had completely vanished. A small mushroom cloud was rising from where it once stood.
[Wait—what the hell is that???!]
[No way, that cloud looks… familiar? Don’t tell me it’s what I think it is!]
[That kind of bomb? Impossible! There’s no way there’s another one, and Tang Mobai is right here — he didn’t even throw anything!]
[Wasn’t that building where Firestorm Guild’s guy was? Someone check his livestream!]
[No need, folks — it’s gone. Stream blacked out. He’s done for.]
[??? What the hell just happened??]
Thankfully, Nahem had already cleared out nearby civilians, so there were no witnesses to worry about.
Tang Mobai murmured softly, “Hmm… the blast was a bit too strong.”
Yan Wuzhen stared at him in shock. “What did you just do?”
Tang Mobai: “Mm… I think I’ve temporarily stopped being a Muggle?”
Yan Wuzhen didn’t get the reference.
But for Tang Mobai, the feeling was pure exhilaration. For the first time, his mind was operating at lightning speed — ideas bursting forth, theories he’d memorized but never understood now perfectly clear, everything seamlessly connected, as if he had upgraded to a new version of himself.
Seth was right — the AI’s core logic was to assist humans. To help each successive Wise King manage the world, it was even equipped with brainwave development capabilities — a safeguard so the Wise King wouldn’t accidentally crash the virtual world.
That explosion just now was, in essence, a nuclear detonation — one Tang Mobai had created himself.
He’d built a bomb before, under expert supervision, but back then it was just mechanical work. Even if he knew the formulas, he never truly understood them.
Now, with the AI assisting him, Tang Mobai had fully grasped the entire process — the underlying principles and all — in just a few seconds.
He couldn’t alter the Super AI’s core framework, but for single-use data like an explosion, he could “add” it manually. Like solving a formula — once the logic ran through his mind, he accessed the virtual world’s data directly and manually generated a nuclear explosion out of thin air.
Still, the blast was a bit too powerful — not ideal for battlefield use, might harm allies.
He adjusted the formula in his mind: smaller yield, tighter radius, zero radiation. Then turned toward Ge Guang’s group.
A sharp sense of danger surged in their minds. Acting purely on instinct, Ge Guang whipped out his Black Armor Shield and stood in front of You Le, letting Tini and Dong Jishi huddle behind them.
BOOM!
A second explosion shook the field. The scorching wind swept past everyone — except Yan Wuzhen and Nahem, untouched.
When the heatwave faded, the famous Black Armor Shield of Crisis Hell had shattered completely. Ge Guang and the others were burned by the blast shockwave.
Tang Mobai mused aloud, “Hmm… a bit weak this time. Maybe I should increase the yield slightly…”
[Main Quest Progress: 50%. Super AI lock-on: 3 minutes remaining to complete. Exit instance upon completion.]
Just then, the Lost Paradise system notification popped up. At the same time, Tang Mobai watched the World Collapse Index rapidly rise — reaching 96% as the Super AI lock-in continued.
