Chapter 9: Come On, Beg Me to Hurt You (3)
If it weren’t for wanting to get that jade pendant space into his own hands ahead of time, Lu Weiyi wouldn’t have wanted to see him in this lifetime. He ignored him completely at this moment and walked into a roadside coffee shop first.
Despite being ignored for many years, Ji Jin still wasn’t used to it. But for the thirty-five percent of the shares, he didn’t hesitate to persuade his mother to steal the jade stones his father had collected. He had just instinctively said something sarcastic, but before the shares were in his hands, he absolutely couldn’t provoke Lu Weiyi again.
“Big brother…” Ji Jin and the lawyer had just sat down and were about to exchange pleasantries when Lu Weiyi went straight to the point, “The things?”
Ji Jin raised an eyebrow and handed over the safe he was carrying. “Are you really going to sell?”
Lu Weiyi ignored his words again and opened the safe. Inside were three sets of jade jewelry, two of which had been passed down through several generations of his maternal grandfather’s family. They contained a complete set of traditional bridal head ornaments, with every hairpin, pendant, and earring present, holding significant collector’s value.
Ji Jin must have valued the company shares greatly, as he had actually brought everything without missing a single piece. Lu Weiyi had thought he would try to pass off a few inconspicuous trinkets as substitutes.
Seeing his obvious “sincerity,” Lu Weiyi readily signed the equity transfer agreement that the lawyer had brought over. Then, taking advantage of his smug satisfaction before he could express it, he quickly took a few photos and sent them to Ji Heng.
Less than half a minute later, the phone rang. Lu Weiyi sipped his coffee, picked up the safe, and walked out. When he passed Ji Jin, he flashed the screen of his phone showing Ji Heng’s name in front of him and kindly said, “Relying on the thirty-five percent of shares in my hand, Ji Heng gets seventy percent of his business from Zhuang Mingxu every year. That’s why he offered the position of the second-largest shareholder with both hands. Guess what will happen to you when the carefully chosen backer he relied on is gone?”
Looking at Ji Jin’s stunned face, Lu Weiyi knew for the first time what it felt like to be truly pleased. The fatigue of a busy day seemed to dissipate a lot. He chuckled softly, walked out, and said as he reached the door, amidst Ji Jin’s ringing phone,
“Happy birthday!”
Hopefully, the big surprise of the apocalypse will make you like it even more!
Lu Weiyi said silently in his heart.
