Chapter 42: Heading for Supplies (3)
Li Zhuang returned not long after leaving, followed by a familiar face, Gu Qingyue.
“It’s you.”
“Lu Weiyi!”
Dean and Gu Qingyue’s voices sounded at the same time.
Lu Weiyi glanced at the two who seemed to know each other and nodded as a greeting. Antonio looked at Dean, and Dean explained, “We stayed in the same hotel. Those people took our food and kicked us out. He secretly gave us some when they drove us away.” Dean looked at Gu Qingyue. “Thank you.”
“Thank you very much,” Antonio already knew all of Dean’s experiences after he fell unconscious. He felt a deep hatred in his heart and sincerely thanked Gu Qingyue again while tightening his grip on Dean’s arm.
“There’s no need for thanks. The food that was taken from you was divided equally among everyone. What I gave you was originally yours,” Gu Qingyue didn’t take credit. “But you, what happened?” When they separated, he was still a handsome little boy, but in less than two days, he looked like he had suffered a lot.
“Some things happened,” Dean didn’t elaborate, and Gu Qingyue didn’t ask further, instead saying, “Luckily you left then. That night, the hotel was besieged by zombies. We finally broke through at dawn, but most of the people inside died.”
“Serves them right,” Antonio gritted his teeth, patted by Dean to calm down, then turned to Gu Qingyue. “My name is Davis Antonio. If you ever need my help, feel free to ask.”
“Okay, I won’t be polite if I need anything,” Gu Qingyue said, then looked at Lu Weiyi. “I didn’t expect you two to know each other. I just returned to the community and was planning to ask if you had returned safely when I saw you. What a coincidence! Who needs a medical examination?” His gaze swept over Lu Weiyi and Dean.
“He does,” Lu Weiyi pointed at Dean and raised his chin.
“Please come with me.”
Antonio half-embraced Dean and led him towards the room.
Li Zhuang took out a map almost identical to the one in Lu Weiyi’s hand and looked at Lu Weiyi. “Little friend, is there any area you want to go to?”
From the map, Wutong City was a city with clear commercial boundaries. The east of the city center was the old town, a relatively poor area where migrant workers gathered. The west was mostly ordinary workers and various factories. The north was a mid-to-high-end consumer area, while the community where Lu Weiyi lived was in the south, surrounded by high-end villas and residential areas, with a beautiful environment but quite suburban and not suitable for daily living.
Lu Weiyi glanced at the map. Hospitals and schools were already marked, and even impassable roads were marked with crosses. Lu Weiyi added a few more strokes based on what he knew. Finally, the two of them settled on the north of the city.
Although the many factories in the west were a good place to go, there were several hospitals, and no matter which road they took, they couldn’t avoid them. With only three of them, it was safer to make a detour if possible. The more remote areas in the north seemed to have many large warehouses. Although they didn’t know what was stored in them, as long as one of them contained food, this trip wouldn’t be a loss.
After discussing the location, Gu Qingyue had also finished examining Dean. It was indeed just some external injuries. The bump on his head was the most serious, possibly causing a fever due to excessive mental stress earlier. He would be fine after resting.
“You’re going out to find food? Is it convenient to add two more people?” Gu Qingyue put away his stethoscope and looked at the three of them. The two men were tall and strong, their fighting power obvious. The other one looked harmless but was incredibly fierce when he made a move.
Gu Qingyue wasn’t sure who was in charge.
“You?” Li Zhuang raised an eyebrow, his undisguised gaze sizing Gu Qingyue up and down, as if assessing his value.
“My brother and I. My brother knows martial arts and has participated in international competitions. I only need half of my share of supplies.” Compared to the two of them traveling alone, joining these three would be advantageous. Gu Qingyue knew he had no advantage among these people and directly lowered his price. “Moreover, I’m a doctor. In case of an accident, having a doctor on the scene is always good.”
Li Zhuang and Antonio exchanged a look and nodded in agreement.
