Chapter 33: Strange Things Happen Every Day (2)
Seeing that they had all been dealt with, Lu Weiyi ignored them. After filling up the gas tank, he walked a few steps towards the convenience store in the gas station. Someone had already been to the supermarket; the door was locked, and the glass had a large hole in it.
As soon as he entered, several men followed closely behind, as if afraid he would take more than his share. The edible things inside had been mostly taken away. Lu Weiyi first walked around and then turned back. Several men were already throwing the remaining whole items into boxes. The boy who had looked displeased earlier was glaring at him fiercely with a bloodstained stick, as if he would immediately hit him if he dared to go over.
In fact, Lu Weiyi hadn’t thought about fighting them for it at all. After all, losing that little bit wouldn’t starve him to death, so why take away someone else’s chance to survive?
He simply took all the melted ice cream in the freezer and packed it up, carrying it to his car and placing it inside before going to another room. This door was still locked; it should have been the employees’ office. Lu Weiyi followed the same method, smashing the glass and walking in. Passing through the office area, he found some parts like oil gun lines in the small room inside, and a neat pile of oil drums in the corner.
Although the country prohibited the sale of oil drums, there were always places that outwardly complied but secretly disobeyed. Now, these were cheap for Lu Weiyi.
He kept four or five to carry and stored the rest in his space, then turned around to put the oil gun back outside, preparing to fill all the oil drums.
The boy with the stick had been staring at Lu Weiyi. Seeing him take out the oil drums, he immediately jogged in to take a look around and then chased out, “Hey, we got here first, you have to leave a few for us.”
Lu Weiyi ignored him, changing oil drums and making sure to fill each one. The boy acted as if his own things had been robbed, making Lu Weiyi almost suspect that he had really taken someone else’s belongings.
Before he could approach aggressively, a scream came from the convenience store next door, followed by two girls screaming as the group squeezed out, pushing each other. Inside, a zombified man was happily tearing at another person’s neck and eating.
“What’s going on? What happened?” The boy couldn’t care less about Lu Weiyi now, a series of questions tumbling out as he ran over.
“Wang Qiang must have been injured just now. He suddenly turned into a zombie and bit Liu Li.”
“How could this happen? How could this happen?” The boy clearly had a good relationship with someone inside and was now muttering to himself in a state of near collapse.
Lu Weiyi secretly filled all the oil drums in his space with oil. Without continuing to watch, he got up, got in his car, and drove away, faintly hearing the boy’s uncontrolled loud shouts behind him.
“It’s all his fault! If he had helped earlier, Wang Qiang definitely wouldn’t have been hurt, and Liu Li wouldn’t have been bitten!”
Lu Weiyi glanced in the rearview mirror at the boy chasing after him with a stick and muttered a sentence under his breath.
