Chapter 24: The Time Isn’t Right, Wait a Little Longer (2)
“Let’s go,” Lu Weiyi said, picking up his watermelon knife and a small box of instant noodles with his other hand, following the two out of the warehouse.
There were two portable lamps outside the warehouse. Lu Weiyi picked up one and placed it in the outer parking lot, making it convenient for him to come back later.
Seeing the two walk directly towards the stairwell, Lu Weiyi asked, “Do you still need anything?”
“The entrance is blocked, we’re going out from here.” It seemed they had climbed out of a window.
As soon as Dean finished speaking, Antonio, who was leading, turned around. “Where did you come in from?”
Lu Weiyi nodded towards the other end of the dark garage. “Follow me.”
The garage was around a corner from the supermarket. Whether looking from inside out or outside in, you couldn’t see each other. If Gu Qingyue hadn’t led the way, Lu Weiyi wouldn’t have believed that this garage could directly lead to this supermarket.
“Is this your car?” Dean looked at the car parked sideways at the garage entrance, his face saying, “You’re so smart.”
“No, it was like this when I came,” Lu Weiyi carefully sized up the outside, softened his footsteps, and said, “My car is here, where is yours parked?”
“Over there,” Dean pointed in the direction of the mall’s main entrance, which was just around the corner from where Lu Weiyi had parked.
Lu Weiyi was secretly relieved, but his face remained calm. He opened the car door, put the things on the passenger seat, and bid farewell to the two. “Then I’ll go first. If you need help, it’s still the address I told you last time.”
Dean didn’t know if he remembered it, nodding haphazardly. Lu Weiyi didn’t repeat it and started the car, leaving first.
Approaching noon, some bolder people had come out to look for food on the road. Occasionally, he could see a few people working together, one hitting a zombie with a stick while the other did the same. Four boys were trying their best to protect two girls. Seeing a car driving by, one of the boys shouted, “Stop!”
Lu Weiyi cursed “idiot” in his heart and sped past. He glanced in the rearview mirror and, as expected, that shout attracted several zombies who ran towards them. Driving straight along the road until a collapsed building blocked his way, Lu Weiyi then turned the car around and drove back to the supermarket.
The round trip took less than half an hour. This time, Lu Weiyi went straight to the warehouse, and after storing all the ice cream in the freezer into his space, he finally felt satisfied. His mental power penetrated the walls and directly took the generator not far away into his space as well. He also unhesitatingly collected the melted ice cream outside.
Leaving the garage, he took the portable lamp he had left behind and went up the stairs into the mall. The first floor of the mall was cosmetics and jewelry, the second floor was women’s clothing, the third floor was men’s clothing, the fourth floor was children’s clothing and some places to eat, and the fifth floor was some household goods.
Apart from the things buried in the ruins, Lu Weiyi didn’t even spare the supplies in the restaurant kitchens. After a leisurely round, it was already afternoon. His body wasn’t tired, but his mental power was severely depleted from directly using it to take things from the locked places in the restaurants on all five floors.
However, he had at least exchanged his somewhat curled stainless steel knife for a pure iron one, and he was quite satisfied with this trip.
Staying alone outside to wait for his mental power to recover was too dangerous, so Lu Weiyi didn’t eat anything and drove straight back.
