Chapter 12: I Want to Buy, Buy, Buy (3)
“Let’s watch a movie,” Lu Weiyi searched for a zombie apocalypse movie he had watched before and connected.
The movie told the story of a virus leak in a certain research institute leading to a global zombie outbreak, and the protagonist’s difficult struggle for survival.
Lu Weiyi was actually not very interested, because having experienced it himself, he knew how ridiculous the movie was.
But his purpose wasn’t to watch the movie.
Seeing a zombie attack a person, a passerby reached out to pull them, only to be bitten himself. Lu Weiyi chewed on a chicken foot and said vaguely, “He’s so stupid. He’s watched so many zombie movies for nothing. Shouldn’t he run away quickly at this time?”
“Hehe… maybe he hasn’t seen zombie movies,” Zhuang Mingxu said, feeling doubtful. Coupled with staying up for several nights, he was inevitably tired and absentmindedly cooperated with his character mocking.
“What would you do if you encountered one?”
Zhuang Mingxu looked at the creature that kept chasing people even when injured and disabled, and replied, “Chop off its head.”
“Useless. The virus controls the whole body from inside the head. Even if you chop off the head, it can still control the head to bite people. The best way is definitely—” Lu Weiyi was “silenced” again. He pursed his lips and continued, “In novels, there’s something in the zombies’ brains, that’s the core of control. If you take that out, the zombie will naturally die.”
“Moreover, look at this protagonist. He doesn’t have any special abilities, yet he dares to fight zombies in short sleeves. Isn’t he afraid of the zombie poison entering his wounds and infecting him? People without special abilities are the easiest to get infected.”
“He even dares to use a gun. As long as the sound is a little louder, all the zombies within a kilometer radius will converge. Isn’t that just asking for death?”
Seriously discussing impossible things in a movie, Zhuang Mingxu really didn’t know how to describe his current mood. However, ever since Lu Weiyi’s mother passed away and he impulsively and forcefully solidified their relationship, his personality had changed drastically. He rarely took the initiative to talk to Lu Weiyi, let alone have this kind of normal chat.
So at this moment, even though he felt Lu Weiyi was being whimsical and talking nonsense, Zhuang Mingxu responded very attentively. However, the thought that Lu Weiyi might be hinting at something, which he had just had, immediately vanished.
Zhuang Mingxu began to cooperate with his chat, “Are these all things from novels? I haven’t read that kind of novel. Has Xiao Yi been interested in these recently?”
Oh right, someone like Zhuang Mingxu, who came from an elite education, would never read those boring, cliché novels. He might really not know.
Lu Weiyi immediately used the topic of novels to talk about zombies, “Yes, it’s all introduced in novels. If you encounter zombies, run if you can. If you can’t run, aim for the head. You must never let them grab you, otherwise you’ll end up like him. And…”
“Excuse me,” the manager who had returned awkwardly interrupted. Lu Weiyi frowned and looked up, only to see a man behind him, a head taller than him, looking to be in his thirties, like a small mountain, with the word “solid” written all over him.
What surprised Lu Weiyi even more was that he knew this person, from his previous life, of course.
Davis Antonio, a Chinese-American, former mercenary, later became a bodyguard. He ended up falling in love with the young master he was protecting, was discovered by the employer, and the two eloped to China. As a result… they were caught in the apocalypse.
Later, Lu Weiyi didn’t know what happened, but when he met him, he was already with Zhuang Mingxu. He was a metal-elemental ability user and a very powerful presence in Zhuang Mingxu’s team. His young master was a healing-type ability user, with no more than twenty known in the entire country, truly a national treasure.
Compared to Antonio, Lu Weiyi was more familiar with his young master, Dean, as they were the only two notoriously pampered individuals in the team. They rarely went on missions and spent most of their time at the base, almost always hanging out together to relieve boredom.
Just as he was wondering why he would be here, he heard a spoiled-sounding standard American English, filled with hostility right from the start, “Why are you staring at him?”
Immediately after, Dean, the young master who was two heads shorter than Antonio, made his appearance with his dazzling blond hair, blocking Lu Weiyi’s view of Antonio. His eyes looked warily at Lu Weiyi, then he turned his head and pecked Antonio’s cheek, declaring, “He’s mine.”
“Little shorty,” Lu Weiyi murmured softly, smiled, and looked at the manager on the side.
After the explanation, Lu Weiyi learned that Dean had ordered the restaurant’s signature dish, roast suckling pig. However, the waiter who had just told him they had it in stock turned around and said they were out. The spoiled young master naturally wouldn’t accept this. Upon further questioning, he found out that Lu Weiyi had bought all of it. He insisted on having one, so the manager brought Antonio over to see if they could get Lu Weiyi to give them one.
“Xiao Yi, it’s time for me to board.”
Lu Weiyi had originally wanted to tease him, but Zhuang Mingxu’s words made him lose interest. He gave Dean an OK gesture, knowing that he couldn’t speak Chinese yet. If Antonio were to awaken his abilities and fall into a deep sleep, Dean would be isolated and helpless. He pointed to his residential complex outside the window and said in English, “Building 6, Unit 3, Apartment 1, Lu Weiyi. You can look for me if you need help.”
Without waiting for a reply, he waved his hand, signaling them to leave, and then turned back to the video. “Let Zheng Xin pick you up. Contact me after you get off the plane.”
After eating, Lu Weiyi headed towards the largest park in Wutong City. The place he lived in his previous life hadn’t been severely damaged, but he didn’t want to gamble on the possibility.
The area around the park was open and had no tall buildings, making it the best place to avoid an earthquake. Moreover, if he remembered correctly, it hadn’t been destroyed in his previous life and had become a temporary settlement for the affected people.
