Becoming a Kindergarten Teacher for S-Class Spirit Beasts – CH62

Chapter 62

The little lion knew that sneaking cookies was wrong, and worried about getting caught by Teacher Bai, so it quietly hid in the corner behind the sofa. It lay there, taking off its glasses, and started using its paws to try to unscrew the lid.

Paws weren’t as handy as human hands, so it struggled for a while but still couldn’t open the lid. However, it could already smell the sweet aroma of the cookies, and it focused all its attention on getting to them.

The black snake peeked from the top of the sofa, watching the little lion for a couple of seconds. After a brief silence, the snake decided to tattle!

The number cookies were meant for everyone—why should the little lion hog them all to itself? Besides, sneaking cookies was wrong! This mischievous little lion needed a good lesson from Teacher Bai.

That way, Teacher Bai would know that the snake was the most well-behaved baby of all.

The black snake slithered off in the direction of the kitchen.

The viewers in the livestream were having a field day:

[Teacher Bai will arrive at the scene in three seconds! Little lion, you’re done for.]

[Sneaky babies are naughty! You’re going to get caught and have your bottom spanked.]

[If I were Teacher Bai, I’d snatch the cookies just as the little lion finally opened the lid.]

The snake climbed up onto Teacher Bai’s shoulder, gesturing and pointing with its tail toward the sofa.

Bai Nuosi had just finished cooking the syrup for the gummy candies. He set a timer for the stove, then turned and glanced toward the sofa, asking the snake, “What’s wrong? What is the little lion doing over there?”

The little lion had been hiding there for a while already, so when the snake pointed, Bai Nuosi immediately understood its message.

Even though the black snake couldn’t speak, its message was clear. Bai Nuosi took off his gloves and headed over to the sofa.

From behind the sofa came a strange sound, and when Bai Nuosi approached, he saw the little lion had tossed its glasses aside and was using its sharp teeth to gnaw a hole into the cookie jar. Bits of plastic were scattered everywhere, and the little lion was busily scooping cookies with its paws.

Bai Nuosi: “…”

Bai Nuosi was a bit stunned. How did the little lion get the cookies he had placed so high up?

Two-year-olds could move stools and find ways to reach things, but in his mind, the little lion was still a lion, with four paws. Wouldn’t it be a bit inconvenient for it to rummage around?

Most importantly, his previous cubs, like the little panda and the black leopard, had never sneaked any of the things Bai Nuosi put away, so he hadn’t been prepared for this.

The little lion also noticed Bai Nuosi’s approach. With its mouth full of cookies, it looked up in a panic and locked eyes with Teacher Bai, who was leaning over the sofa.

The little lion: “…”

The little lion froze, feeling guilty and nervous. It lay there, eyes wide open, staring at everything but Teacher Bai—looking at the sky, the floor, the cookies—anywhere but at him.

Guilty, very guilty.

A kind of guilt that comes from knowing you’ve done something very wrong!

The little lion remained motionless, gripping a cookie in its mouth and staring at the ground, too afraid to lift its head. Absolutely too scared to look up.

Ask why, and it would say, Because I’m scared, QAQ.

Seeing the little lion’s cowardly posture, even the livestream viewers felt a twinge of sympathy:

[Aw, come on, what could the little lion have done wrong? It just wanted to eat some cookies!]

[It’s all because Teacher Bai’s cookies are too delicious! Ugh, I want to eat them too! Teacher Bai, have you thought about selling them online?]

[Yes, Teacher Bai! Could you set up a link for us? My spirit beast is drooling already.]

[It’s probably because the little master from the Qin family was too restricted at home. This looks like a child who’s never had snacks before—so pitiful.]

Meanwhile, the old man from the Qin family furrowed his brows. “What’s so special about cookies? Worth all this trouble for Xingxing? If he wants cookies, he could just tell me—I’d buy him the most expensive ones!”

Since interstellar medicine had spirit-enhancing supplements, there were definitely snacks and beverages with similar effects, though they were expensive. The food prepared for Qin Yuxing at home usually had these benefits and cost as much as a regular person’s expenses for several months, per meal.

The old butler also frowned and said, “It seems Teacher Bai’s cooking skills are quite exceptional. Otherwise, there’s nothing special about those cookies, and the young master wouldn’t have gone so far as to sneak them.”

The two elderly men thought their analysis was spot-on, but they didn’t consider that spirit-enhancing foods don’t usually taste great, nor are they varied. Eating the same food for three days in a row could become tiresome, let alone eating it for over a decade, as Qin Yuxing had done.

The truth was that Qin Yuxing had never tasted ordinary snacks like puffed or fried foods.

Bai Nuosi looked at the nervous little lion and felt amused. Holding the snake, he sat down next to the lion. The little lion sneaked a glance at him before quickly lowering its head. Although it was scared and nervous, it still clung to the cookie jar, unwilling to let go—even if it meant risking trouble.

Bai Nuosi quietly hid the frog glasses that the little lion had tossed aside. Then, he gently said, “Xingxing, you have cookies—why not share them with Teacher and the snake? One for Xingxing, one for the snake, and one for Teacher Bai. Come on, can you give me one?”

Bai Nuosi extended his hand, asking the little lion for a cookie.

The little lion was stunned for two seconds, glancing between Teacher Bai and his outstretched hand. It realized that Teacher Bai wasn’t scolding it—he genuinely wanted a cookie.

The little lion’s mouth immediately started chomping away, finishing the cookie in its mouth before reaching into the broken cookie jar with its paw. After some effort, it pulled out a cookie and generously placed it in Teacher Bai’s hand.

Teacher Bai smiled. “Thank you, Xingxing. The snake also needs one.”

The little lion glanced at the snake and reluctantly reached into the jar again, fishing out another cookie and placing it on the snake’s back.

In no time, Teacher Bai extended his hand again. “One for the snake, and one for Teacher Bai.”

The little lion looked at Teacher Bai’s hand, then silently fished out another cookie, placing it in Teacher Bai’s hand.

And so, the little lion’s paw kept digging into the jar. Every time it managed to pull out a cookie, Teacher Bai cheerfully accepted it. “One for the snake, one for Teacher Bai, and one for Xingxing. Thank you, Xingxing.”

With each cookie given to Teacher Bai, the little lion had to give one to the snake. And each time, Teacher Bai’s hand stretched out again.

The little lion’s mind was filled with one for the snake, one for Teacher Bai…

It focused entirely on digging out the cookies. It got so used to the motion that every time it found a cookie, it would automatically place it in Teacher Bai’s hand.

After a while, the little lion looked at the dwindling number of cookies, and seeing Teacher Bai’s bright smile, it suddenly realized something was off!

So, after fishing out another cookie, it swiftly shoved it into its own mouth, looking at Teacher Bai defiantly. “I’m not giving you any more.”

Bai Nuosi’s cheeks hurt from smiling. The little lion was just too cute. He pretended to look pitiful, saying, “But Teacher Bai also wants a cookie. One for Xingxing, one for Teacher Bai, and one for the snake.”

The little lion clutched the jar tightly, stuffing another cookie into its mouth while shaking its head furiously. “No! No want.”

It was trying to say that Bai Nuosi didn’t really want one, but its words came out in such a rush that it sounded funny.

After eating two more cookies and seeing Teacher Bai still extending his hand, the little lion turned around, hugging the cookie jar and stuffing its mouth full. It mumbled, “Not giving you, not one.”

Actually, Bai Nuosi and the snake had already eaten plenty of cookies.

The black snake wasn’t particularly fond of cookies; it was much happier drinking milk—cookies were too dry.

Bai Nuosi didn’t want the little lion to eat too many. Firstly, he was afraid it might upset its stomach, and secondly, he worried it might cause heatiness. The cookie jar was originally meant to last the two cubs three days.

Seeing that there weren’t many cookies left, Bai Nuosi decided to stop teasing the little lion. He placed the snake back on the sofa, pretending to look pitiful while saying, “Alright, alright. If you won’t share, you won’t. Teacher Bai will just have to hide somewhere and cry a little. Not much I can do, sigh.”

Bai Nuosi then placed two small bowls in front of the cubs, each half-filled with water. “After eating cookies, remember to drink plenty of water.”

The little lion lay there, munching on cookies for a while before sneaking a glance and seeing that Teacher Bai had indeed returned to the kitchen and was busy again.

Lowering its head, the little lion looked at the cookies in its arms. Suddenly, the cookies didn’t taste as sweet.

Would Teacher Bai really hide and cry because he didn’t get a cookie?

Couldn’t be, right?

He’s such a grown-up—wouldn’t that be embarrassing?

The little lion stuffed another cookie into its mouth, frowning. But the cookies were just too tasty…

Not long after Bai Nuosi returned to the kitchen, he noticed the little lion creeping over.

While taking the freshly baked bread out of the oven, he glanced at the little lion from the corner of his eye.

He watched as the little lion stealthily placed the broken cookie jar on the kitchen counter before turning tail and bolting away, as if it were being chased.

In truth, it was just feeling too embarrassed.

Bai Nuosi: “…”

Bai Nuosi curiously walked over and saw the cookie jar, chewed and tattered, still containing seven or eight number cookies.

It looked like the little lion had saved these, leaving them for Teacher Bai.

It was worried that Teacher Bai might really hide and cry because he didn’t get any cookies.

Bai Nuosi stared at the damaged jar for a while before smiling and turning to the livestream viewers. “Xingxing is so sweet. Even though it loves the cookies so much, it was willing to save some for me.”

Maybe others wouldn’t understand, but Bai Nuosi, having cared for so many cubs, knew that children around the age of two or three were often very self-centered. If they liked a certain food or toy, they wouldn’t share it with anyone—not even their own mothers without some serious contemplation.

If Xingxing didn’t genuinely like Teacher Bai, how could it possibly save any cookies for him?

Bai Nuosi, feeling pleased, remarked, “Xingxing is such a good cub. When it grows up, it’ll surely be a warm and caring person.”

  1. M&M's says:

At least the grandfather’s reaction to Qin Yuxing’s strong desire for the cookies wasn’t negative. It seems like he’s open to discussion with his grandson, if the latter would just be honest, but I’m not quite certain that the grandfather would be completely open to changing his dietary needs/wants if the foods didn’t bring some benefit to Qin Yuxing’s mental/physical development.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀
