Becoming a Kindergarten Teacher for S-Class Spirit Beasts – CH59

Chapter 59

It was past two in the morning, nearing three. At this time of night, why wasn’t the little lion sleeping properly? What was it doing under the blanket?

Bai Nuosi silently stared at the little lion’s rear for a moment before gently lifting a corner of the blanket, revealing a glowing screen.

On the screen, the game was muted, but that didn’t stop the little lion from being fully absorbed, its expression brimming with excitement.

Bai Nuosi: “…”

If he remembered correctly, Director Huo had mentioned that the little lion was only about two years old. At that age, how had it learned to play games?

Could it be that the cub’s family members were avid gamers?

Bai Nuosi remained in his position, holding up the blanket, and quietly watched the little lion’s gaming screen. In a short amount of time, the little lion died twice in the game. However, it didn’t seem discouraged; in fact, it was eager to try again. Die once, try again, die again—no problem, it would just spend money!

When Bai Nuosi saw the little lion open the in-game purchase screen and prepare to make a payment, he couldn’t hold back any longer.

The little lion was only two years old!

How did it know how to play games and even spend money?

Who was the troublemaker who taught it this?

The little lion was so engrossed in the game that it didn’t even notice Bai Nuosi discovering its secret.

As the little lion began to enter the payment password, Bai Nuosi, his expression blank, extended his hand and delivered a swift smack to the lion’s exposed bottom with a firm “smack.”

The sound echoed, and the little lion, caught off guard, flopped forward, its face plunging into the blanket.

In an instant, it sprang up, staring in shock at the suddenly appearing Teacher Bai.

Bai Nuosi wore a stern expression, pulling the blanket back completely. He swiftly confiscated the AI terminal with one hand and lifted the little lion with the other, placing it on the floor.

The little lion: “…”

Utterly confused, the little lion found itself on the cold floor, looking up at Bai Nuosi, who was sitting on the bed.

How had Teacher Bai discovered its secret? It had been so quiet!

Bai Nuosi slipped the AI terminal into his pocket, crossed his arms, and looked sternly at the little lion.

The little lion: “…”

It lifted its head defiantly, staring at Teacher Bai: What are you looking at? I was just playing a game, wasn’t bothering anyone. Why are you making a fuss?

The little lion tried to rub the spot where Teacher Bai had smacked it, but with its short legs, it couldn’t reach… No matter how many times it tried, it just couldn’t.

Frustrated, the little lion plopped down on its bottom, scooting a bit on the floor, its face full of indignation.

It did hurt a little… This was its first time getting spanked! It was a dignified future star pirate king, destined to roam the galaxies, and now its dignity had been crushed!

The little lion’s fur bristled with rage as it glared at Teacher Bai.

It knew Teacher Bai had a gentle nature. It had even climbed to the second spot on his livestream’s leaderboard. If it wasn’t for the top-ranking fans being so generous and its own limited pocket money, it would have claimed the top spot already.

As a loyal fan of Teacher Bai, shouldn’t it get some leeway? Not expecting Teacher Bai to spoil it, but at least he shouldn’t interrupt when it was secretly playing games! Yet now, Teacher Bai had not only taken its AI terminal but also spanked it!

The second-ranked fan’s bottom was not one to be spanked so easily!

The little lion’s eyes stayed fixed on the pocket where Teacher Bai had stashed the confiscated terminal.

Bai Nuosi stared at the little lion, pursing his lips. “Xingxing, do you know why I took your AI terminal?”

The little lion pouted. Why else? It was because he didn’t want it playing.

Determined to keep up the act, the little lion stayed silent, pretending it hadn’t linked with its spiritual entity and was just an innocent cub.

Bai Nuosi continued seriously, “Staying up late to play games and even trying to spend money—I’m going to tell Director Huo.”

The little lion: “…”

Telling Director Huo would result in one of two things: either Director Huo would come and scold it himself, or he’d inform the old man to do it.

While the old man wasn’t as terrifying as Director Huo, if they found out it was playing games, its training regimen would only get more intense.

Because the old man would surely say that instead of playing games, it should be taking more courses.

The little lion felt a surge of frustration. Just thinking about the extra training made it want to die!

It howled in protest, spinning in circles before crouching down and yowling up at Bai Nuosi—a perfect display of frustrated rage.

But even in its tantrum, it didn’t lash out at Bai Nuosi. Typically, angry children might hit when upset.

From Bai Nuosi’s perspective, the round little lion resembled a fluffy golden retriever, barking incessantly.

Though he maintained a stern expression, Bai Nuosi noticed the lion’s reaction when he mentioned informing Director Huo.

He recognized that kind of response. It could mean two things: either Director Huo was too strict, and it feared punishment, or, more likely, the lion’s family had such high expectations and strict rules that it acted out as soon as it was out of their sight.

Staying up late, hiding under a blanket to play games—perhaps this was its form of rebellion.

If the little lion’s family found out, things could get tough for it.

Bai Nuosi’s expression softened, and he gestured for silence, whispering gently, “Alright, as long as you don’t play games or spend money at night, I won’t tell Director Huo.”

The little lion stopped yowling and hesitantly stared at Teacher Bai, suspicious: Are you like the others, pretending you won’t tell, but tattling behind my back?

It had seen plenty of people like that!

Bai Nuosi reached down and scooped the little lion into his arms, whispering, “If you want to play games, you can tell me. I can play with you. If you don’t speak up, how would I know? Playing games late at night is bad for your brain development, and your eyes are still growing. If you keep playing under the blanket like this, you’ll end up wearing thick glasses.”

In this advanced age, eye surgeries were simple, and AI-enhanced eyes were common, but natural eyesight was still best, especially for a military cadet, whose vision was thoroughly checked at admission.

However, the little lion didn’t care about that. A mysterious and elegant space pirate king who wore glasses after removing his mask—now that was a look!

Actually, the idea of wearing glasses seemed kind of cool.

The little lion started daydreaming about its future life of freedom, imagining itself conquering the universe. The thought alone was thrilling!

Bai Nuosi then offered, “How about this? If you can wear glasses for three days and adapt to them well, I promise I won’t mind if you play games at night.”

The little lion blinked, confused. It understood the individual words but was having trouble putting them together.

Bai Nuosi stifled a laugh. “Don’t want to wear glasses? That’s your choice, not mine. If you don’t, you can’t play games at night anymore. You have to stick to your word, okay?”

The little lion, focusing on “if you play games at night, I won’t stop you,” thought about how great it would be if Teacher Bai really didn’t interfere.

Freedom! Bliss!

Wear glasses for three days? Easy!

The little lion nodded eagerly. Deal!

Bai Nuosi smiled and patted the lion’s head. “Alright, it’s a deal. Let’s start tomorrow morning.”

The little lion lay down, closing its eyes for real this time, thinking, Once I get through these three days, I’ll be free to play games all I want.

As it drifted off, it had a faint feeling something was off.

But then again, wearing glasses for three days seemed like a fair trade. No way it was losing out.

Finally, good luck was on its side!

  1. M&M's says:

I’m glad this lion cub and its main body weren’t traumatized like the previous cubs under Bai Nuosi’s care, but having no freedom to relax and only working all day since childhood, whether it be on studies or training, would truly be stressful for any person. I know I’ve already said it in previous comments, but I truly hope the Empire changes their ideas/beliefs in child-rearing because there are clearly many problems.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀
