Chapter 56
By the time Bai Nuosi returned to his dormitory in the eastern district, it was already afternoon. Holding Little Nabi and two small rose plants, he said to the live stream audience, “I wonder how Mr. Golden Eagle is doing. I’ll make some tea for him.”
The audience in the live stream was stunned:
[Breaking news: Mr. Golden Eagle likes afternoon tea.]
[I really doubt that this is the same Golden Eagle! The one I know and the one Teacher Bai is talking about feel completely different—it’s like they’re two different beings! You get what I mean, right?]
[Is it possible that this Golden Eagle has already been tamed by Commander Huo? Maybe it won’t go on a rampage again in the future?]
…
Mr. Golden Eagle was quiet for now, and Bai Nuosi thought it might be possible to take him to the hospital. Keeping him locked in a cage wasn’t a solution.
As soon as Bai Nuosi stepped into the house, the Golden Eagle, confined to a room, immediately lifted its head. Even though the bedroom door was closed, and it couldn’t see the adorable little one who had just entered, it could clearly sense the little one’s presence.
The cutie is back!
The Golden Eagle crouched in its cage, tilting its head and staring intently in the direction of the door without moving.
Over the past two days, its mental energy had recovered significantly. In the past, it would have erupted, doing everything in its power to escape.
But now, it was in no rush.
The little one lived here, and it was fed delicious meals three times a day. It was too happy to leave and preferred to stay and wait for the little one to visit.
Bai Nuosi put little Nabi and the potted roses on the entryway cabinet, changed his shoes, and walked inside.
He instinctively looked toward the sofa—no sign of the snake baby. It seemed that Commander Huo had taken the snake baby away. After all, with such a dangerous Golden Eagle in the house, Director Huo surely wouldn’t feel comfortable leaving the snake baby alone.
In reality, Huo Ranchuan had hidden the Teng Snake in his own bedroom, instructing it to keep an eye on the Golden Eagle while making sure Teacher Bai wouldn’t discover it. Otherwise, Huo Ranchuan would completely lose Bai Nuosi’s trust!
The door to Huo Ranchuan’s bedroom was closed, and Bai Nuosi didn’t head that way. In this place, apart from going to the kitchen to cook, he rarely touched anything, not even in the living room.
Bai Nuosi headed to the kitchen, cutting up several types of fruit and brewing some floral tea. Unsure if Mr. Golden Eagle would be hungry, he also placed some small biscuits on the fruit plate.
As he prepared everything, he explained to his audience, “This morning, Mr. Golden Eagle ate a lot of meat-filled buns. I’m not sure how well bird beastmen digest food. If it were the Panda Cub, I’d make sweet and sour floral tea to help with digestion.”
The live stream audience wanted the recipe:
[Teacher Bai, look at me! Every time I see the food you make, it looks so delicious. Can you share the recipe? I want to try it too.]
[I remember seeing you make fruit tea for the black panther cub before, but you rarely do this on stream. Could you start posting baby food tutorials daily? I’d love to watch!]
…
Bai Nuosi glanced at the chat, noticing these comments.
He smiled and said, “Sure, the recipe is quite simple. For the fruit tea I made for the black panther cub, I used apples, hawthorn, red dates, and rock sugar. When you cook the apples, they turn sour, and hawthorn is even more so, so use it sparingly. Red dates and rock sugar add sweetness; you can adjust according to taste.”
Bai Nuosi then added, “For a lung-moisturizing fruit tea in the dry autumn season, you can cook kumquats with snow pears and rock sugar. Babies love it.”
He knew many recipes, but he couldn’t share them all at once. Seeing the requests for cooking videos, he nodded. “If I have time, I’ll record some cooking videos and post them on StarNet. If you’re interested, you can message me, and I’ll send them to you.”
Bai Nuosi had no idea how enthusiastic his fans were.
[Since you sincerely offered, I’ll shamelessly take you up on it!]
[Ahhh, everyone, Teacher Bai said we can message him! I have to do it!]
[I was afraid of bothering him before, but now he says it’s okay! I’m going to confess my love ten times a day!]
…
After chatting with his audience for a bit, Bai Nuosi carried the afternoon tea to the door. He knocked first, waiting for three seconds before slowly opening it. Since Mr. Golden Eagle was a patient and a friend of Director Huo, not one of the cubs in the nursery, Bai Nuosi left the live-streaming ball outside, ensuring the audience couldn’t see the Golden Eagle.
The Golden Eagle crouched in the cage, its eyes fixed eagerly on Bai Nuosi as he entered.
Bai Nuosi didn’t sense any hostility from the Golden Eagle, and its emotions seemed stable.
He approached slowly, stopping a few steps away from the cage, then placed the tray on the floor and pushed it toward the cage. In a gentle voice, he said, “Have some fruit, Mr. Golden Eagle.”
The Golden Eagle stared at the little one for a while, then looked at the fruit tray. Quickly, it stood up, walked over, and squatted opposite the little one, bowing its head to eat the fruit.
Bai Nuosi watched quietly as the Golden Eagle ate. Its bandages were mostly torn, and the two wings that had been bound inside were now visible, with patches of feathers, some still dirty. Bai Nuosi couldn’t help but want to clean it.
The old feathers had shed, and new downy ones were growing. It was clear that the Golden Eagle would be majestic when healthy, but for now, the patches of down made it look a bit funny.
The Golden Eagle took a bite of fruit and then looked up at the little one. The more it looked, the more embarrassed it seemed.
The little one had been watching it for so long and even smiled. Could it be that the little one liked it?
In its mind, the Golden Eagle imagined building a nest, hiding the cutie inside, and then having the little one lay eggs, hatch chicks—what a beautiful life that would be.
When Bai Nuosi saw that the Golden Eagle had eaten most of the fruit and drank the tea, he felt relieved and stood up to say goodbye. “I’ll be heading out now, Mr. Golden Eagle.”
The Golden Eagle raised its head, watching the little one leave with a reluctant look.
It didn’t matter—by evening, the little one would come back to see it anyway!
With no cubs to care for at the moment, Bai Nuosi felt a bit bored. The groceries he ordered hadn’t arrived yet, so he couldn’t prepare kimchi or snacks.
He placed little Nabi and the two small roses on his bedroom windowsill, tidied up, and stared at the green rose plants for a moment. Suddenly, he thought of how empty Mr. Golden Eagle’s room was—there was nothing there.
For someone with unstable mental health, the environment was crucial.
With nothing else to do, he grabbed some small flower pots and went to the garden below the dormitory in the eastern district. He dug up a few lush green plants, transplanted them into pots, watered, and fertilized them. Then, carrying the five green potted plants, he headed back to his dorm.
He said to his live-stream audience, “Mr. Golden Eagle’s room is empty, so I thought I’d bring him some green plants. I hope it’ll make him happy.”
The audience, initially shocked, was now numb and didn’t know what to say:
[Fun fact: Mr. Golden Eagle not only likes afternoon tea but also loves cute little potted plants.]
[Teacher Bai has such a childlike heart. No matter who he’s caring for, he treats them all with such kindness and detail. Maybe that’s why the Golden Eagle doesn’t get upset with him.]
[If Teacher Bai gave me a potted plant, I’d be so excited. I’d put it on a pedestal and admire it a hundred times a day!]
*
Bai Nuosi returned to the Golden Eagle’s room.
The Golden Eagle still crouched in its original spot, counting time in its head. It had thought it would have to wait another four hours for the cutie to appear.
But to its surprise, the little one came back so soon!
The Golden Eagle watched Bai Nuosi with excitement and intensity.
The little one’s chest was covered in a green hue, making his pale little face look even more adorable!
The Golden Eagle stood up excitedly, moving to the edge of the cage, eyes fixed on the little one.
Bai Nuosi placed the pots on the windowsill and turned to the Golden Eagle. “I brought five potted plants to brighten up your room. I’ll be watering them every day, so I hope you don’t mind.”
Mr. Golden Eagle didn’t hear anything else; all it caught was that Teacher Bai would come every day to water the plants.
Its eyes immediately lit up. The Golden Eagle stared at the little one with an even more serious gaze, its orange-red eyes deep and unreadable.
Bai Nuosi arranged the pots neatly on the windowsill, bringing life to the room’s empty and cracked walls.
When Bai Nuosi saw the Golden Eagle staring at the green plants, he thought it must like them. After all, no bird could dislike nature!
So, he made a decision. When he had time, he’d plant more flowers. When the windowsill was full of blooms, the Golden Eagle would surely like it even more and feel even happier!
After finishing everything, Bai Nuosi left the room.
As he exited, he said goodbye to the Golden Eagle, “See you tonight, Mr. Golden Eagle.”
The Golden Eagle nodded!
Bai Nuosi was surprised and even a little happy. The fact that the Golden Eagle responded to him—did that mean its condition wasn’t as severe as he thought?
*
As Bai Nuosi prepared dinner, Huo Ranchuan returned with a small lion.
The little lion seemed unhappy, but under Huo Ranchuan’s stern gaze, it didn’t dare move.
Huo Ranchuan warned, “This isn’t the Qin family. If you act out again, I’ll throw you out.”
His aircraft was soaring high in the sky, surrounded by countless flight paths. If he threw the lion out, it would either be hit by an aircraft or fall to its death.
After all, the little lion had no wings.
Just moments ago, the little lion had been acting arrogant at the Qin estate, but now, it was quiet and obedient, not even angry despite Huo Ranchuan’s threats.
Huo Ranchuan thought its calmness wasn’t entirely due to his intimidation.
He narrowed his eyes, staring at the little lion, and suddenly spoke, “Qin Yuxing, did you link with it?”
Why would he link with the lion now? They hadn’t even reached the Rose Nursery.
The lion trembled, looking a bit guilty. It sat up straight, eyes forward, pretending not to understand Huo Ranchuan.
If it didn’t speak, no one would know it had linked!
Huo Ranchuan: “…”
Huo Ranchuan recalled how, at the end of his negotiation with the old Qin patriarch, they specifically requested Bai Nuosi as the little lion’s caretaker.
Their reasoning was convincing: “Teacher Bai livestreams daily, so we know he’s excellent and professional. We trust him with the little lion, and we can also monitor the lion’s daily life through the stream. We hope General Huo understands our concerns as parents.”
So far, only Bai Nuosi had a live stream in Area S, so their choice made sense.
However, as Huo Ranchuan looked at the lion, he narrowed his eyes. “Qin Yuxing, could it be that you caused that ruckus at the training ground just to get transferred to Teacher Bai?”
After all, Teacher Bai had just sent off the panda cub, and without a cub to care for now, if a new S-rank entity arrived with the family specifically requesting Teacher Bai, the Rose Nursery would have no reason to refuse.
The little lion scooted back, feeling guilty. Why did Huo Ranchuan have to know everything? He was so annoying!
Huo Ranchuan observed the lion. At just 16, Qin Yuxing was still a minor. Given that he had spent all these years focused solely on studies and training, and that the Qin family treated him like their most valuable asset, it was no surprise his personality wasn’t particularly pleasant.
After obeying for over a decade, it seemed the young master was suddenly rebelling, going so far as to blow up his family’s old estate. His level of rebellion was off the charts.
Huo Ranchuan pondered aloud in the aircraft, “Teacher Bai’s temperament is too soft; he probably can’t handle you. How about I let Mons, the supervisor of Area S, take care of you? He may be A-rank, but he’s experienced in combat and is also one of the instructors at the Imperial Military Academy. You won’t lose out.”
The little lion sprang from its seat, fur bristling!
It turned, baring its teeth at Huo Ranchuan, claws extended, looking ready to go down fighting.
Huo Ranchuan remained calm, showing no reaction.
Qin Yuxing was furious.
If Mons were assigned to him, he’d have no rest at all!
Mons was also an instructor, and if he got his hands on Qin Yuxing, he’d train him relentlessly. What would be the point of escaping from home?
Teacher Bai was gentle and soft-hearted, indulging the cubs. If he could stay with Teacher Bai, he could finally do all the things he’d wanted but never got to do.
He was confident that even if he wanted to fly, Teacher Bai would nod and agree!
Muito obrigada! Eu amo muito essa história
Hahahaha getting the wrong answer using the correct(?) formula be like. There must’ve been an error somewhere!!!
Thanks for the chapter~~~
The cause behind all the problematic children with spiritual entities is clearly related to how the children were raised when growing up, but still no one seems to notice or find it a problem at all; all these poor children seem to be treated solely as tools for the family and/or weapons of war.
The Empire needs to change their whole child-rearing system to account for mental and emotional development, which clearly impacts the children and their spiritual entities as they grow older.
Thanks for the chapter! 😀
Ahh so a lion is next? How cute! Although this one is more naughty than the rest lol!
Wait, if ML’s Teng snake was subjected to experiments and injections when it was young, why is the public accusing the nursery of doing that? Like, inhumane treatment of the spiritual entities is already normalized so why are critics of the nursery using that as their main argument?
Thank you for the chapter!
