Becoming a Kindergarten Teacher for S-Class Spirit Beasts – CH36

Chapter 36

While the panda cub was drinking from its bowl, Bai Nuosi hurriedly changed the bedsheets, then took out wet wipes to clean the panda cub’s face after it finished its milk. He then brought in warm water to wash the panda cub’s four little paws.

Even the little black snake, which had already finished its milk and was dozing in the corner of the bed, was brought over by Bai Nuosi for a wash in warm water.

The little black snake: “…”

*

After a busy day, Huo Ranchuan had returned to his residence and was now soaking in the bathtub, feeling Bai Nuosi washing the little black snake. He sighed in his heart; Bai Nuosi was so diligent in bathing his spiritual entity every day. The Teng Snake was indeed enjoying it, but he really couldn’t take it anymore.

The compatibility between the main body and the spiritual entity was too high; generally, one wouldn’t let their spiritual entity leave them. However, thinking about those S-grade cubs, he still needed to accompany Bai Nuosi to feel at ease.

After every bath, Bai Nuosi would give the cubs a massage. After some time of “remote experience,”  Huo Ranchuan had adapted well. Just as he was waiting for the massage, Bai Nuosi picked up a small blanket, wrapped the little black snake, and carried it onto the bed.

 Huo Ranchuan: “…”

He suddenly realized that the nightly massage session had been canceled by Bai Nuosi!

Bai Nuosi placed the little black snake on a small blanket in the corner of the bed, quietly saying, “Baby, be good. Qiu Qiu is sick today, so we won’t massage tonight. How about I tell you a story instead?”

The little black snake nodded eagerly; it loved Bai Nuosi the most, and whatever Bai Nuosi said was right.

The panda cub, having finished its bowl of milk, was happily leaning against the headboard with its little belly full, supported by a soft pillow. It was scratching at its belly with its little paws, as if it had already forgotten about its shedding fur.

Chu Jiangting watched this scene unfold in his spiritual sea and had given up treating his own spiritual entity. He really didn’t expect his spiritual entity to be such a foodie.

Even its gaze carried a naive clarity.

However, looking at the fur that had fallen from the panda, Chu Jiangting felt bad as well. The spiritual power enhancers reacted with his skin, causing itchiness and taste deterioration, but it reacted so strongly on the panda’s spiritual entity, with its fur falling out.

Thinking of this, Chu Jiangting sheepishly reached up to ruffle his own hair. Hmm, very good, still full of curls, not bald; what a close call.

He patted his chest in fear, unable to imagine what he would look like as a bald person.

Bai Nuosi covered the panda cub, who was sprawled on its little belly, with a small blanket and said, “Babies, it’s time for our story session! How about I tell you a story about a flamingo?”

The Teng Snack had already grown accustomed to Bai Nuosi’s nightly bedtime stories, but it was the panda cub’s first time hearing about them. Curious, it turned its head to look at Bai Nuosi, who pulled out a picture book from his portable storage.

Chu Jiangting had just finished training and was still lying in the cockpit of his mecha. A picture book story? What’s that? He had never heard of it since childhood.

However, Bai Nuosi was very patient with the panda cub and took great care of it. Chu Jiangting actually felt quite grateful towards Bai Nuosi.

If every spiritual entity entering the Rose Nursery could have such a gentle and meticulous caretaker, he would definitely firmly support Huo Ranchuan in ensuring that the Rose Nursery could continue to operate for a long time.

Bai Nuosi opened the book, pointing at a group of flamingos on the cover for the two cubs to see. “Babies, look! Isn’t there a lot of flamingos on the cover?”

The Teng Snack, who had been curled up in the blanket at the corner of the bed, immediately climbed onto Bai Nuosi’s back when it saw him pull out the picture book. It rested its head on Bai Nuosi’s shoulder and followed his gaze to the book.

Chu Jiangting also saw the book through the panda’s eyes; the title was The One and Only Labi, and among the flamingos on the cover, a white flamingo stood out particularly.

Bai Nuosi turned to the title page and pointed to the book’s name, saying, “This book is called The One and Only Labi. ‘One and only’ means unique, outstanding, and unmatched.”

Though Bai Nuosi was worried that the two cubs might not understand what “one and only” meant, so he explained it, he remembered the conversation the panda cub had while drinking milk with its fur…

He felt that the explanation probably wouldn’t make sense to the panda cub.

Bai Nuosi opened the first page. “Alright, let’s meet little Labi. Little Labi is a baby flamingo. Having just been born for less than a month, it has a beautiful coat of white fluff. Every day when it goes out to play, it boasts to its friends: ‘Look at my feathers! They’re so beautiful, like clouds, like cotton, soft and white. They’re so cute!’”

When Bai Nuosi mentioned the white feathers, the panda cub suddenly looked down at its own nearly bald little belly, and its expression turned sad.

Wuwuwu, it also had soft white fluff on its little belly, which it thought was very cute, but now it was almost all gone. Wuwuwu, the fur still needed to sleep; they wouldn’t grow back until they woke up. If it didn’t let them sleep, they would come to snatch its milk bowl!

The panda cub was almost crying from sadness.

Chu Jiangting sighed helplessly, comforting his spiritual panda a few times in the spiritual sea, while also worrying that his panda spirit might go crazy in the middle of the night, ruining the current warm atmosphere, causing Bai Nuosi to be unable to sleep.

Although he dismissed Han Baiyi’s warnings, seeing the gentle Bai Nuosi with dark circles under his eyes, he couldn’t bear to put more burden on him.

After sharing feelings, Chu Jiangting took control of the panda cub’s consciousness, sitting obediently beside Bai Nuosi, listening to him continue.

Bai Nuosi pointed to the picture book, at the cute little flamingo that looked like a fluffy cotton ball, and said, “Every day when little Labi plays by the river, it sees its own white fluff in the reflection and proudly exclaims: ‘I look like I’m wearing clouds! These fluff are so cute!’”

At this point, the Teng Snake, who had been quietly resting on his shoulder, suddenly looked unhappy.

It glanced at its own scales in disdain. How unfair! It didn’t have any fluffy, soft fluff; it only had a body of cold, smooth scales!

Ahhh, the little black snake began to stir in the spiritual sea.

Why didn’t it grow fluff? Was it because its owner wasn’t good enough?

Huo Ranchuan, who was lying on the bed listening to the story: “……”

Huo Ranchuan was speechless. How could a Teng She grow fur? Different species don’t need to be forced together! This Teng Snake, clearly an adult for a long time, had started to act more like a cub since hanging around Bai Nuosi.

Huo Ranchuan couldn’t even be bothered to pay attention to it!

Bai Nuosi sensed Teng Snake’s restlessness. He reached out to gently pat its head, then continued, “Little Labi lived a carefree life, but gradually, little Labi began to grow up. As it grew up, it had to go out with its family to look for food, but those foods were too disgusting!”

In the picture book, the white, fluffy little Labi was spitting out the green seaweed from its mouth in disgust, with a face full of disdain and dissatisfaction: “This stuff is too disgusting! It makes my mouth itch! Little Labi cried to its mother: ‘Mommy, mommy, that ugly green thing is too disgusting! Can little Labi not eat it?’”

Bai Nuosi said, “Little Labi’s mother looked worried and said, ‘But this is the food for our flamingos. Every flamingo must eat it! Only by eating it can you be a true flamingo!’”

In the picture book, little Labi was surrounded by its companions, who also said to it, “Little Labi, this seaweed is essential food for flamingos! If you don’t eat it, you won’t be a flamingo, and we won’t play with you!”

Bai Nuosi continued, “Little Labi was heartbroken. It watched its friends turn pink after eating the seaweed; that was the symbol of flamingos. But because it was picky, it always refused to eat, so when it grew up, its feathers remained white. In a flock of pink flamingos, it stood out so much that no one played with little Labi. Heartbroken, little Labi finally ate the ugly green thing that its family had prepared one day.”

Chu Jiangting stayed nestled inside the body of the spirit panda cub. When he heard this, his expression shifted slightly, and he glanced thoughtfully at Teacher Xiao Bai.

He had a feeling that this story was being told specifically for him.

Maybe it was because the panda cub had eaten the spirit enhancer, which caused an allergic reaction and fur loss. Dr. Sajinna explained that all young cubs in the Beastman Star eat this, so Teacher Xiao Bai must have told this story for the panda cub.

In a way Chu Jiangting had never experienced before, Teacher Xiao Bai was gently trying to teach him a lesson.

Is this how young cubs learn these lessons through picture book stories?

But when he was young, no one ever told him stories like this.

Chu Jiangting’s expression turned gloomy as he sat quietly, listening to Teacher Xiao Bai’s gentle voice tell the story of Little Labi.

Bai Noss flipped to a new page of the picture book. On it was a pink flamingo reluctantly eating green seaweed. However, compared to the other flamingos, the feathers of this flamingo looked much duller.

Bai Noss spoke softly, “After some time, Little Labi finally managed to turn his feathers bright pink. But Little Labi wasn’t happy. Every time he ate seaweed, his whole body itched terribly. He lay sadly by the riverside, and when his friends came to find him, one of them suddenly exclaimed, ‘Oh my gosh, everyone look! Labi’s feathers are falling off!’”

Chu Jiangting: “…”

He lowered his head and glanced at the bald patches on the panda cub’s belly, suddenly feeling speechless.

It was clear now—this story was meant for him!

Bai Noss continued, “Little Labi was terrified. He finally realized that all his beautiful feathers were falling off. In a panic, he stood up and hid in a tree hole, leaving a trail of feathers behind him.

“Little Labi stayed hidden in the tree hole for days, and all his beautiful red feathers fell off, leaving him completely bare. He was devastated: ‘Waaah, waaah, I’ve become a featherless freak! I’ll never be able to show my face again!’”

Bai Noss went on, “Later, Labi’s grandfather came to see him and asked, ‘Rabi, Rabi, why are you hiding in the tree hole?’

Rabi sadly replied, ‘Grandpa, Grandpa, all my beautiful feathers have fallen off. I’m too ugly.’

Rabi wiped away his tears, filled with regret, and said, ‘It must be because I ate that awful food. That green plant always made me itch, and my feathers didn’t want to stay on my itchy skin, so they all fell off.’

Grandpa comforted him, saying, ‘If eating it made you feel uncomfortable, then why did you continue? If someone makes you uncomfortable, don’t play with them. If food makes you uncomfortable, don’t eat it. Labi with white feathers is the most unique flamingo in the world. No one is more outstanding than you.’”

As Bai Noss finished the story, he turned to look at the serious expression of the panda cub, flipping to the last page of the picture book.

On the final page, a group of beautiful flamingos gathered by the riverside at a park. A child, holding their mother’s hand, suddenly pointed and shouted, “Look! There’s a white flamingo! Oh my, I’ve never seen such a beautiful flamingo!”

The grown-up Little Labi finally recovered his favorite feathers, and from then on, he always wore the clouds on his back.

Bai Noss closed the picture book and pointed again at the cover, where a large group of flamingos stood. “Look, little ones, do you see the white flamingo? It’s the only white flamingo in the group and the most unique flamingo in the world. That’s Little Labi.”

Bai Noss gently patted the top of the panda cub’s head, saying in a low voice, “There are many rules in this world, but I hope that if you encounter something that doesn’t suit you, you’ll speak up and not force yourself. Just like how many kids love drinking milk, but some are allergic to the protein. It’s not the child’s fault for being allergic. Even without drinking milk, they can still grow up healthy.”

The panda cub looked sadly at Bai Noss and said in a soft, childish voice, “Okay, Teacher.”

Bai Noss then turned to the little black snake.

The little black snake happily nodded, “Got it, got it! I’m not allergic to milk, so I can drink as much as I want!”

Bai Noss wasn’t sure if the panda cub really understood, but it didn’t matter. The panda cub’s storage had been confiscated by Mons, and from now on, Bai Noss would be in charge of the cub’s diet.

As long as Bai Noss kept a close watch, the cub wouldn’t have any chance to sneak food!

At the same time, Bai Noss couldn’t help but think about the panda cub’s family. He wondered if, after learning about the cub’s allergies, they would still force him to drink milk.

They probably wouldn’t, right?

What kind of parents would do that?

It’s not like that supplement was absolutely necessary.

Bai Noss put the picture book away, turned on the soft nightlight, and took both cubs in his arms. “Alright, little ones, it’s time to sleep. Even though this is a strange environment, don’t be afraid. Teacher will sleep with you tonight.”

The serpent snuggled expertly on Teacher Xiao Bai’s left side, watching the panda cub warily, afraid that the panda cub might go berserk again like last night and chase after it.

However, tonight the panda cub was calm, showing no intention of driving the serpent off the bed.

In fact, the cub seemed a bit down, wearing a sad and sorrowful expression.

Could just listening to a picture book story have such a big impact?

The serpent didn’t understand.

Tonight, Bai Noss didn’t play any music. Instead, he gently held the two cubs, covering them with small blankets, softly patting the panda’s back while humming a lullaby:

“The moon is high,

the clouds drift by,

little ones,

 close your eyes…

Resting in the teacher’s warm embrace,

dreams drift quietly away;

A small boat sways on the Milky Way;

Fish swim along the starlight’s path…”

Bai Noss’s voice was soft and soothing, creating a sense of peace. Before long, the two cubs had closed their eyes.

Once Chu Jiangting confirmed that the panda cub’s emotions had stabilized, he reluctantly prepared to leave. Teacher Xiao Bai’s story was captivating, and his lullaby was even more beautiful.

The gentle voice was so calming that Chu Jiangting found himself entranced. Even though his spirit form had already fallen asleep, he still didn’t want to leave.

He wanted to stay a little longer in the warmth and faint fragrance of Teacher Xiao Bai’s embrace.

This was his first time hearing a lullaby.

Since the earliest memories he had, his time had always been filled with training and studying under his parents’ strict plans, all while taking care of his younger siblings.

In his memory, he had never seen picture books like these, nor had he ever listened to any popular songs. Come to think of it, when he was in kindergarten, he didn’t have a teacher as gentle as Teacher Xiao Bai.

Chu Jiangting stayed connected to the empathetic link until Teacher Xiao Bai himself had fallen asleep. Only then did he finally break the connection.

Sitting dazed in the cockpit for a few minutes, he eventually climbed down from the mecha. It was already past 2 a.m. As usual, he was the last one to finish training. The cadets at the military academy all had early morning drills, so the training field was usually deserted after 10 p.m.

By 2 a.m., he was the only one left training.

Walking across the vast training field, he removed his helmet and wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. His half-long curly hair was damp with sweat.

With his head bowed and eyes red, Chu Jiangting sniffled. He thought to himself how pathetic he looked—he’d die of embarrassment if anyone saw him like this!

If anyone did see him, he’d have to silence them!

At that moment, someone ahead shouted impatiently at him, “Chu Jiangting! Why are you just coming out now? Damn it, I’ve been waiting here for three hours!”

Chu Jiangting paused, his head still lowered. He wiped at the corners of his eyes, then smiled faintly, lifting his head slowly to see who had the nerve to block his path.

It was the eldest young master of the Han family, who had been waiting at the exit of the training field for quite some time. He stood there arrogantly, looking at Chu Jiangting with disdain. “I heard your spirit form has been sent to the Rose Nursery? Come here, I’ve got something to tell you.”

Chu Jiangting squinted at him—wasn’t this Han Baiyi’s brother? Damn, is something wrong with the Han family? One after another, they come to bother him?

What, have they not been chased by him before?

  1. M&M's says:

Hopefully Chu Jiangting learns to care about himself more in the future. On a side note, Bai Nuosi’s name suddenly changed to “Bai Noss” about halfway through the chapter, which was a sudden and weird change, lol.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀
