Becoming a Kindergarten Teacher for S-Class Spirit Beasts – CH34

Chapter 34

With Teacher Bai holding onto its tail and giving such a stern warning, the panda cub sat on the ground, scratching its belly with both paws, stealing glances at Teacher Bai from time to time.

Bai Nuosi didn’t give it a chance to backtrack, remaining crouched beside it while tightly holding onto the panda baby’s tail.

Panda cub: “……”

The panda cub moved uncomfortably, and as a result, Teacher Bai’s grip tightened slightly. Those big, shiny black eyes were locked onto it: “Qiu Qiu, don’t move around. Didn’t we agree you’d accompany Teacher to the hospital? I’ll give you sweet milk, remember?”

Chu Jiangting felt helpless. When did he agree? He had just not responded!

The medical team in the Rose Nursery acted quickly, with even Sajinna and Mons arriving.

After all, the panda cub was an S-rank, and they couldn’t afford to delay.

Mons knocked on the door: “Xiao Bai, are you in there?”

Bai Nuosi immediately stood up and opened the door: “Manager Mons, you came too.”

Mons wiped the sweat from his forehead and said nervously, “Of course! If something happens to the cub, I’ll be held primarily responsible.”

As Mons brought the medical team inside, the panda cub’s expression immediately soured. It stood up from the ground, looking wary. It was clear it didn’t like those people in white coats.

Bai Nuosi found Sajinna and explained the panda cub’s symptoms and what it had eaten: “Honey, cub milk powder, and sour cucumbers. I’m not sure if one of these caused an allergic reaction. Besides, it also took a nutritional supplement and a substance I don’t know about.”

Bai Nuosi handed over the two empty bottles to Sajinna.

Seeing the bottles, Sajinna looked at the panda cub, surprised: “It actually took this.”

Mental energy boosters and nutritional liquids are quite common and can be purchased by ordinary people. However, giving them to a spiritual cub that just differentiated a day ago seemed a bit hasty to Sajinna.

Moreover, he already had his own S-rank spiritual body, yet he was still this anxious, which was quite rare.

Sajinna took the two small bottles and then smiled at Bai Nuosi and Teng Snake, who was resting on Bai Nuosi’s shoulder: “Xiao Bai, don’t worry. The panda cub looks okay for now. I’ll take it back for an examination. Do you want to come along?”

Just as Bai Nuosi was about to nod, he suddenly saw a medical staff member who was about to pick up the panda cub get scared by the panda cub’s loud “Woof!” and fall to the ground.

Bai Nuosi: “……”

Bai Nuosi didn’t realize the panda cub had used its S-rank mental energy to intimidate; he thought it was just the cub’s loud voice that startled the person.

Bai Nuosi immediately rushed over: “I’ll do it. I’ll carry Qiu Qiu onto the vehicle.”

Mons was shocked: “Xiao Bai, you named the panda cub Qiu Qiu?”

Bai Nuosi nodded: “Yes, Qiu Qiu really likes it!”

Panda cub: “……”

Chu Jiangting thought: Teacher Bai was not being honest!

He hadn’t shown any signs of liking it, alright? He had just been silent for a few seconds, and before he could refute, he had become “Qiu Qiu” out of confusion.

Bai Nuosi scooped up the round panda cub, cradling it in his arms, then followed the medical team out and into the transport vehicle.

Sajinna and Mons followed behind, utterly amazed.

Sajinna said, “Who on earth is this Xiao Bai? Why does the little black panther, who usually rejects others, like him? And this feisty little panda also likes him?”

Moreover, what she didn’t dare to say was that even the hot-tempered and unpredictable Teng Snake was obedient by his side, curling up next to Bai Nuosi every day during this period. Forget about being irritable and destructive; it seemed like Teng Snake hadn’t even been angry at all.

Mons lowered his voice and said, “Didn’t you mention you wanted to study Teacher Bai’s pheromones? How’s that research going?”

Sajinna had a sudden thought some time ago. She suspected that the spiritual bodies were drawn to Bai Nuosi because of his alluring pheromones.

Sajinna shrugged: “Many seniors have looked into this before. To be honest, my hypothesis has already been researched by some predecessors. I’ve gone through a lot of information, and pheromones and mental energy indeed originate from the same source. A powerful Alpha can use their potent pheromones to attack their kind. However, extensive research shows that humans in the Beastman Star are not attracted to pheromones.”

So, Teacher Bai’s popularity had nothing to do with his pheromones. Besides, there were other BlackBird Star caretakers in the Rose Nursery who weren’t as popular as Bai Nuosi.

When Bai Nuosi arrived at the medical room, holding the panda cub, he placed it on the bed. Sajinna, along with her assistants, began to set up various devices to check the panda cub’s body and identify allergens.

Seeing this setup, the panda cub immediately turned and ran towards the door.

Bai Nuosi quickly blocked its path: “Qiu Qiu!”

The panda cub paused, not raising its head, preparing to sneak past Teacher Bai.

Bai Nuosi knew exactly what it was thinking.

He promptly took out a jar of sweet honey from his portable storage device!

Panda cub: “……”

Bai Nuosi squatted down and scooped a spoonful of honey, placing it in front of the panda cub: “Here, Qiu Qiu. You promised to come to the hospital with me, so you can have a spoonful. After you cooperate with the doctor, if she praises you, I’ll reward you with two more spoons. Is that okay?”

Panda cub: “……”

The panda cub’s nose twitched as it gazed longingly at the honey in Bai Nuosi’s hand, drooling at the corner of its mouth.

Bai Nuosi: “……”

Chu Jiangting: “……”

Chu Jiangting covered his face: “Damn.”

It’s over; the panda cub had completely fallen into Teacher Bai’s trap.

Even though Chu Jiangting wasn’t too keen on the examination, the panda cub was utterly tempted by the sweetness!

Sorry, Master; if it could hold back, it wouldn’t be drooling like this.

In the end, the panda cub happily ate a spoonful of honey, licking the spoon clean, and reluctantly allowed Bai Nuosi to carry it into the examination chamber.

The examination process required some waiting. Bai Nuosi sat on a small sofa outside, holding Teng Snake in his arms, looking worried with his brows furrowed. The little black snake sensed his distress and quietly nestled in his embrace, not making a sound, being very well-behaved.

At this moment, in the Imperial Military Academy’s training ground, Chu Jiangting had just stepped down from the mecha cockpit when he received a call from his family.

As soon as he answered, his mother sternly asked, “Xiao Ting, I heard your spiritual body was sent to the Rose Nursery. Is that true?”

Before Chu Jiangting could respond, his mother continued, “Your brother said he saw in the livestream that your spiritual body is a panda and is quite popular.”

Chu Jiangting thought to himself that it was Teacher Bai who was popular, not him.

His mother kept talking as if she didn’t need his answer. She only wanted to express her thoughts and dictate what Chu Jiangting should do according to her pre-planned agenda: “Listen, Xiao Ting, you know we are ordinary people. The reason we can come from a lower-level star to the main star and find work here is all because you got into the Imperial Military Academy!”

The more Chu’s mother spoke, the more agitated her tone became: “But we’re only allowed to stay here for four years. After four years, if you graduate from the academy and our contribution evaluation doesn’t pass, your father, your brother, your sister, and I will be sent back to the lower-level star! Xiao Ting! Our whole family has invested all our resources and hopes in you; you can’t just think of yourself. You can’t be so selfish!”

Chu’s mother: “We’ve put all our hopes on you. Right now, we can’t even afford to send your brother to the military training camp. If you don’t work hard and achieve something, how can you face your father, your siblings, and me?”

The more she talked, the more agitated she became, even crying at the end, as if Chu Jiangting had committed some unforgivable crime.

A voice from the other end of the call broke in: “Hey, hey, that’s enough! Why are you rambling on so much? It’s just the spiritual body being sent to the nursery; it’s not like it’s gone forever.”

“You don’t understand a damn thing!”

Chu Jingting’s mother replied angrily: “Isn’t it said that someone in the Rose Nursery is using spiritual bodies for research? What if the panda gets killed in the research? Even if there’s no research, the Rose Nursery isn’t exactly a good place. What if the panda misses the best training opportunity and evolves to regress to Class A?”

Chu Jiangting, wearing headphones, listened to his mother and father arguing on the other end of the line. His expression was cold as he tied up his shoulder-length curly hair and walked over to another ground combat mecha, preparing to board.

At some point, Chu Jingting’s mother stopped arguing with her husband and asked Chu Jiangting, “Xiao Ting, do you have enough of that mental energy booster? Should I send you some more money to buy some?”

Chu Jiangting lowered his head, his expression impassive as he fell silent for two seconds before nodding: “I have enough; you don’t need to send me money.”

His mother continued to remind him: “You must keep taking that mental energy booster, you know? Our family doesn’t have S-rank genes, and the fact that you differentiated must be because of the mental energy booster. So you must, must keep drinking it! You can’t slack off just because you differentiated into an S-rank! I’ve heard that many people regress even after differentiating!”

After listening to her ramble on for a long time, Chu Jiangting suddenly felt very tired. He softly said, “Mother, I know all of this. It’s getting late; you should rest now.”

After saying that, Chu Jiangting hung up the phone.

He glanced at the time; it was already midnight.

At such a late hour, his mother called him, not asking whether training was hard, whether he was facing exclusion or bullying for being a commoner in a noble school, how his newly differentiated spiritual body was doing, whether it was cute or not, if it had eaten, or how the spiritual cub was doing in the Rose Nursery, and if the caretakers were nice…

In fact, if his mother had asked, Chu Jiangting might have had a lot to say.

For example, how the panda cub was named Qiu Qiu, how he had a bowl of milk with honey added, how he felt uncomfortable in the middle of the night, and how his sweet and gentle teacher got up to take him for a check-up, not sleeping the whole night…

Forget it.

Chu Jiangting stood in place for three minutes, then looked at the continuous messages from his mother and turned off his smart wristband.

He walked toward the mecha vehicle on the other side. At this hour, everyone was asleep, and the training equipment was mostly unused. He liked coming here to train until midnight, enjoying the quietness of the night as if he was the only one left in the world.

This made him feel relaxed. There were a few times when he was exhausted after getting off the mecha that he even fantasized about living for himself.

As Chu Jiangting walked forward in silence, a boy wearing the same freshman uniform stepped down from a mecha vehicle. The boy had short black hair and sharp golden eyes that scanned him, locking gazes with Chu Jiangting.

Chu Jiangting did not stop his footsteps; he was focused on the panda cub being examined in the medical room and had no interest in anyone else.

However, Han Baiyi walked in front of him and stopped.

Chu Jiangting saw a shadow appear in front of him and thought it was someone just getting off the mecha. He didn’t think much and was ready to walk around, but Han Baiyi followed his footsteps and blocked his way again.

Chu Jiangting was in a very bad mood, even a bit violent. He paused, slowly raised his head, and looked at Han Baiyi with irritation: “What do you want?”

Among the thousand freshmen at the military academy, they were divided into five districts, with two hundred people in each team. Chu Jiangting and Han Baiyi didn’t know each other before this.

That was why Han Baiyi could recognize Teng Snake, but Chu Jiangting didn’t recognize him; he wasn’t familiar with Huo Ruanchuan.

Han Baiyi, with a stern face, sized up Chu Jiangting before speaking: “I heard you just differentiated into an S-class, and your spiritual body has already been sent to the Rose Nursery.”

Chu Jiangting scoffed coldly: “What does that have to do with you?”

Han Baiyi frowned slightly, glaring at Chu Jiangting, his tone unfriendly: “I saw Teacher Bai’s livestream. You’d better manage your spiritual body and make it behave. Don’t cause trouble for Teacher Bai, especially at night—no fighting, no escaping over the walls, and don’t randomly eat junk food. If it gets a stomachache, Teacher Bai will have to sacrifice his sleep time to take it to the doctor.”

Hearing this, Chu Jiangting couldn’t help but laugh.

He stared at Han Baiyi for two seconds before suddenly grinning: “Oh, you must be that black panther who differentiated into an evolution state just ten days ago, right? I heard you’re very timid and never dare to talk to people, right? I also heard that because you love to eat, you ended up with a gassy rear, so Teacher Bai arranged for Teng Snake to learn from you how to poop?”

Han Baiyi: “……”

Chu Jiangting’s expression quickly turned cold again: “You know, having been in the Rose Garden, if you didn’t know better, one might think Teacher Bai dumped you, and you came to remind him about precautions for his current partner. Thanks for your ‘advice.’”

Han Baiyi’s expression darkened as well, fixing his gaze on Chu Jiangting: “Your spiritual body isn’t here. I’ll let you off this time, but next time, you better not let me see you.”

Chu Jiangting sneered: “Oh, really? You’re so fierce; I’m so scared.”

Han Baiyi: “……”

Damn, this guy is really worse than Teng Snake. If it weren’t for the panda cub getting hurt, and Teacher Bai worrying about losing sleep over it, Han Baiyi would have unleashed the black panther and given Chu Jiangting a good beating right now.

As Chu Jiangting walked by, he intentionally bumped hard into Han Baiyi, then boarded the training-specific mecha.

Meanwhile, in the medical room, Sajinna came out holding the panda cub’s examination report. She said to Bai Nuosi: “There are indeed allergy symptoms, but it’s not from honey; it’s caused by a plant ingredient added to the medication.”

That medication referred to the mental energy booster.

  1. ShadowCat16 says:

Damn, how selfish can this mother be? I understand she wants to live a better life, but at least pretend to care about your son instead of pressuring him.

  2. Lemons says:

it’s not even about a good life at this point. she completely disregards him for her other children. like they sacrificed so much for him to be out there when its most likely just that he’s very talented. his siblings probably cant do it bcuz they’re just not talented, but they live with her and grew up by her side. they’re her babies. he is not.

  3. M&M's says:

I feel sorry for Chu Jiangting’s lack of motherly concern, if any familial concern at all. She truly only views him as a tool to improve their lives and I’m pretty sure that even if something happened to him and/or his spiritual entity, she would only blame him for ruining their family’s chances at a better life rather than be concerned about her son’s condition.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀
