Chapter 30
Teng Snake was being chased!
After jumping into the water, the panda cub paddled furiously, doggy-paddle style, toward Teng Snake.
The round panda cub made such a ruckus in the lake, causing water to splash everywhere, that it seemed like an all-out battle.
Teng Snake: “…”
Wait, aren’t pandas supposed to not swim? Is it seriously going this far?
Shocked by the panda’s sheer determination, Teng Snake bolted out of the water and desperately rushed toward Bai Nuosi.
Huo Ranchuan: “…”
He watched in disbelief as his spiritual being, chased relentlessly by a panda cub, fled in terror.
Huo Ranchuan was speechless.
But what’s going on with this panda cub? Why does it seem so… wild?
Huo Ranchuan had already received the information about the newly admitted spiritual cub, but he hadn’t had a chance to review it.
Teng Snake, in a panic, slithered up Bai Nuosi’s body, coiling tightly around his waist. It tucked its head behind Bai Nuosi, peeking out from over his shoulder with wide eyes, watching the soaking-wet, curly-furred panda as it climbed out of the lake.
Teng Snake had definitely met its match this time.
The panda cub, after rolling and tumbling, finally made it to the shore. It shook off the water vigorously, almost throwing itself off balance with the force of it. Afterward, it ran toward Bai Nuosi with a fierce expression.
As it neared Bai Nuosi, it seemed to only just notice him. Startled, it skidded to a stop, but its round body, unable to balance, sent it tumbling headfirst to the ground with a thud and did a roll.
Bai Nuosi: “…”
The panda cub, now covered in dirt and mud, had its once-white fur turned yellow from the soil, making it look like nothing more than a messy, mischievous cub who loved to play.
When Bai Nuosi saw the little panda cub trip, his heart melted from the cuteness.
Pandas were such a rare species, and to think that there were Beastman in the Beastman Star with panda genes!
This is way too adorable! Who could resist this? he thought.
Bai Nuosi squatted down, barely able to contain his excitement. He looked at the little panda cub, who was struggling to get up from the ground, his eyes shining with delight. In a gentle voice, he said, “Hello there, little cutie. I’m Teacher Xiao Bai. What’s your name?”
The little panda cub finally sat up after getting back on its feet, looked up, and was greeted by Teacher Xiao Bai’s smiling face.
The panda’s angry expression froze for a moment. It stared at Bai Nuosi’s beautiful face, slowly opening its mouth in surprise.
This person is so pretty, so cute, and looks so kind!
The little panda scratched its belly, dug out a clump of mud, and, unsure of what to do with it, just wiped it on the ground. It tilted its head, staring at Bai Nuosi with wide, round eyes, confused.
Seeing that the panda wasn’t attacking the black snake anymore, Bai Nuosi sighed in relief and asked, “Little cutie, can I take a look at your tag?”
The panda hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
Bai Nuosi’s eyes lit up, and he quickly leaned in to examine the golden tag around the panda’s neck. It read: [S·Class Chu Jiangting].
Bai Nuosi brightened up. “So, you’re the new cub in the S district! Where’s your caretaker? Didn’t they come with you?”
Meanwhile, the viewers in the livestream were getting excited:
[Oh my gosh, will this panda cub be following Teacher Xiao Bai now? It’s too cute!]
[It doesn’t have a caretaker with it, so maybe it’s just arrived at Rose Garden and hasn’t been assigned one yet?]
[This panda cub has such a temper! I wonder if Teacher Xiao Bai can handle it with his gentle approach.]
Upon hearing the name “Chu Jiangting,” Huo Ranchuan immediately recognized it. Chu Jiangting was one of the top students at the Imperial Military Academy, one of the few from a civilian background to have made it into the prestigious institution.
The academy only admitted a thousand students each year, and those selected were guaranteed a future in the military. Wealthy families could easily get their children in due to their resources, but for someone from an ordinary background, it required an immense amount of effort and determination.
If he remembered correctly, Chu Jiangting was from one of the lesser-known planets in the beastman system. While his origins were humble, his academic achievements were outstanding.
As Huo Ranchuan watched the panda cub, he thought, Who would’ve guessed Chu Jiangting’s real personality would be this wild…?
The panda cub didn’t respond to Bai Nuosi’s question. After cleaning the mud off its belly, it stood up, stomped around Bai Nuosi, and started barking furiously at the black snake again.
Bai Nuosi was stunned. “Wait, why is it barking like a dog?!”
The black snake, terrified, darted into Bai Nuosi’s arms. Is this pursuit never going to end? it thought, giving Huo Ranchuan a pitiful look. Master, it’s saying such nasty things!
Huo Ranchuan stood silently. Earlier, the cub had screamed like a pig being slaughtered while chasing the snake, and now it was barking like a dog. Clearly, it was beyond angry.
Unable to resist, Bai Nuosi patted the little black snake coiled around his waist and said, “Baby, go apologize to the panda cub. It’s really mad at you! Did you bully it?”
The black snake hesitated, still lying in Bai Nuosi’s arms, and gave Huo Ranchuan a pleading look, hoping he’d intervene. Why wouldn’t this panda just let it go?
Huo Ranchuan, however, ignored it, pretending he didn’t see his spirit beast.
The panda cub continued barking angrily, while the black snake refused to come down. No one knew what had started their fight in the first place.
The livestream audience was dying of laughter:
[The black snake is finally getting a taste of its own medicine. It always bullies the black panther cub, but now it’s met its match!]
[This panda cub’s personality is so fierce! Who would dare mess with it? LOL!]
[At the Imperial Military Academy, Chu Jiangting had a nickname: ‘The Bulldozer.’ He was feared by everyone. Now you know why! Laughing emoji]
Bai Nuosi squatted down in front of the barking panda cub, gesturing with his finger to his lips in a “shh” motion. “Quiet now~~”
The panda, tired from barking, immediately stopped when Teacher Xiao Bai spoke to it so gently. It sat down, panting and staring at Bai Nuosi.
Bai Nuosi’s dark eyes curved with a smile as he softly praised, “Good job. No more barking, alright? You’re doing great.”
He even took the chance to pet the panda cub’s head.
The panda cub was speechless.
Bai Nuosi then kindly proposed to both cubs, “I didn’t see what happened between you two earlier, so to be fair, I’d like to check the surveillance footage. In the meantime, how about you take a little break, cutie, and stop barking for a bit?”
The panda cub tilted its head, looking at Bai Nuosi. How could it say no to Teacher Xiao Bai, who kept calling it “cutie”? Whatever he said, it was fine with that.
Bai Nuosi was about to review the footage when the black snake looked guilty. Huo Ranchuan knew what had happened but didn’t feel like explaining. He figured Bai Nuosi could handle the situation himself, as he was good at managing cub conflicts.
Seeing the time, Huo Ranchuan told Bai Nuosi, “You handle this. I need to go check on the black panther cub and deliver some supplies.”
Bai Nuosi nodded. “Thank you, Director.”
Huo Ranchuan shook his head. “No problem.”
He felt like it was actually him causing trouble for Bai Nuosi, as every time he looked at his spirit beast, he just got a headache.
Huo Ranchuan left in his vehicle, heading to check on the black panther’s evolution. Just then, Mons called him, sounding anxious and embarrassed. “Commander, the second S-class spirit beast has run off again…”
Mons was truly exasperated. They had only taken in two S-class spirit beasts, and both were running wild. The first one was terrified of strangers, while the second was dissatisfied with its food and caused a commotion in the baby cafeteria, splattering its caretaker with food scraps before howling and running away.
The panda cub’s reaction was so extreme that not only the caretakers but even the guards were startled. If outsiders heard that pig-like screech, it would likely confirm the rumors that the Rose Garden was conducting research on spirit beasts.
Learning from the previous incident with the black panther cub, Mons and his team remained calm and gentle in the face of the panda cub’s antics. As long as they could track it down in the S district, everything else would be manageable. They could contact the panda’s owner, and chasing after it would only make it more excited to see them.
Huo Ranchuan remarked, “I know where it is; it’s with Teacher Xiao Bai.”
Mons felt even guiltier. He had already noticed from the tracking that the panda cub had run to Bai Nuosi’s dormitory, but he hesitated to send someone to bring it back. After all, the previous caretaker wasn’t very good at handling this panda, so perhaps it was better to let Xiao Bai take care of it.
In fact, Huo Ranchuan was thinking along the same lines. With the black panther gone, and Xiao Bai appearing to like the little ones, it seemed like a good fit.
“Let’s observe for now. We’ll deal with the caretakers later,” Huo Ranchuan suggested.
Mons sighed in relief.
At least he wouldn’t be reprimanded this time.
It seemed that Huo Ranchuan shared the same opinion about Bai Nuosi.
While Bai Nuosi checked the surveillance, he glanced at the livestream comments:
[Huh? Are we really checking the surveillance for such a minor issue? Isn’t that a bit overkill?]
[The two cubs are having a little quarrel; just let the black snake apologize. Checking the footage is such a waste of time.]
Bai Nuosi cast a glance and thought the viewers were mistaken.
As he continued to review the footage, he addressed the audience in the livestream, including the two little ones beside him, saying, “Even though you all think this is a small matter, it’s not for the cubs. Their world is very small, so every little thing is significant to them. If there weren’t any cameras, it would be one thing, but since we have them and it’s so easy to check, as a teacher, why shouldn’t I take a look?”
“Only by being responsible for every little thing will the cubs trust me.”
Hearing Bai Nuosi’s words, the panda cub, sitting across from him, looked at him with a strange expression.
Or rather, it was Chu Jiangting, sharing a mental connection with the panda, who was hiding in the panda’s spiritual sea, observing Bai Nuosi.
Before Chu Jiangting’s spirit beast arrived, rumors about the Rose Garden conducting research on spirit beast cubs had spread rapidly online, sparked by the black panther cub’s outburst during the livestream.
After enduring countless hardships and finally gaining admission to the Empire’s top military academy, and awakening a rare S-class spirit beast, a bright future was finally within his reach. He couldn’t allow anything to happen to his spirit.
So, he had equipped the panda spirit beast with a storage terminal and personally came to see what was going on through their connection.
In his mind, if someone bullied him, he would fight back, because he had learned to fend for himself growing up; no one would believe him, nor would anyone defend him.
However, he never expected Bai Nuosi would go out of his way to check the surveillance for such a trivial matter.
The panda cub hesitated, looking at Bai Nuosi and thinking that this teacher was quite different from what he had imagined.
As Bai Nuosi checked the footage, the little black snake grew anxious. It tilted its head and snuggled into Bai Nuosi’s embrace, trying its best to act cute.
After reviewing the footage, Bai Nuosi understood what had happened. He turned to the panda cub and said, “So, little cutie, you just wanted to eat sour pickles?”
The panda cub nodded. In truth, it was more curious than hungry; if the black snake hadn’t been so irritating, it might have just left.
The earlier furious chase had stemmed from feeling bullied and needing to reclaim its dignity.
Now, with Teacher Xiao Bai speaking so gently, it felt a bit uneasy. Its paws fidgeted against its fluffy belly.
Bai Nuosi quickly said to the panda cub, “You wait here for a moment, okay? I’ll go get you something delicious.”
The panda cub responded, “…”
It awkwardly scratched its belly, not really in the mood to eat…
Worried that the two might fight again, Bai Nuosi picked up the little black snake and headed inside.
Shortly after, he emerged with a lunchbox, identical to the one he had prepared for the black panther cub.
This lunchbox was initially meant for the black panther.
Bai Nuosi sat on a stone bench, placed the lunchbox on the table, and opened it. He smiled and waved to the panda cub. “Come and eat! There are your favorite sour pickles!”
The panda cub hesitated for a moment, slowly moving closer. It wasn’t particularly interested in food; it was merely attracted by the smell of the sour pickles, thinking it might actually enjoy the taste.
The viewers in the livestream had already uncovered information about Chu Jiangting, with some who knew him expressing their confusion:
[That’s strange. Doesn’t Chu Jiangting usually avoid the cafeteria and only drink cheap nutrient solutions? Why is he suddenly interested in a lunchbox today?]
[Maybe it’s because Teacher Xiao Bai’s lunch is just too cute and delicious! Even those who don’t like to eat would be tempted.]
[Perhaps the panda cub is just too shy to refuse Teacher Xiao Bai. With him looking so gentle, how can you say no when he offers you food?]
The panda cub truly couldn’t resist. As it looked into Bai Nuosi’s bright, dark eyes, filled with warmth and kindness, it found itself unable to refuse!
The panda cub squatted next to Bai Nuosi on the stone bench, staring at the beautiful lunchbox in front of him, feeling hesitant.
Bai Nuosi noticed that the panda cub was dirty all over, so he grabbed a spoon and scooped a piece of cucumber to place in front of it. “Little cutie, ah~”
The panda cub responded, “……”
I don’t really want to eat, but he called me ‘little cutie’!
The panda cub opened its mouth and took a bite of the cucumber. Tilting its head, it chewed without expression and quickly swallowed. It smacked its lips, sensing a slight sourness that was better than the food from the baby cafeteria.
However, it still lacked an appetite and didn’t really want to eat.
But Teacher Xiao Bai was so gentle, and his eyes were so nice. The panda cub found it hard to resist such a gentle approach.
Bai Nuosi was somewhat surprised to see the panda cub. While many people enjoyed sour cucumbers, it was his first time seeing a cub eat them with such an expressionless face.
Seeing the panda cub’s adorable demeanor, Bai Nuosi couldn’t help but enter feeding mode.
One spoonful after another came toward the panda cub.
Bai Nuosi’s eyes sparkled, and his voice was incredibly gentle. “Eat up, grow big and strong! If you don’t eat, you’ll be all skinny, baby, ah~~”
The panda cub replied, “……”
Neither Chu Jiangting nor his spirit panda cub wanted to eat.
They even resisted the idea of eating. Just thinking about it made them feel uncomfortable, but faced with Teacher Xiao Bai’s gentle feeding, they found it hard to refuse!
In the end, the panda cub reluctantly ate a few slices of cucumber, but when it saw the tiny hamburger Bai Nuosi was offering with a fork, it tightly closed its mouth.
I can’t eat anymore, really, not even a tiny bit! QAQ
The panda cub turned its face to the side, clearly displaying a refusal to eat.
Bai Nuosi, unaware of the panda cub’s situation, didn’t dare to keep feeding it since it wasn’t eating.
So he set the fork down and said, “Little cutie, you’re too dirty! I need to contact your caretaker to come and take you back for a bath.”
Bai Nuosi took a picture of the panda cub and sent it to Mons, then inquired about the panda cub’s situation.
As he did this, he felt a bit dazed, remembering a similar situation when he first met the black panther cub.
All dirty and without a caretaker nearby.
Now, the black panther cub had already left the Rose Nursery.
The panda cub watched Teacher Xiao Bai sending a message, ignoring the little snake coiled around the tree that was eyeing it. It manipulated its storage bracelet and took out a bottle of green nutrient solution.

I’m curious as to why Chu Jianting and his spiritual entity have an aversion toward food. It’s clearly related to his environment when growing up, so it’s pretty sad if you think about it.
Thanks for the chapter! 😀
I have a feeling we might discover that the panda has an ED… So sad because his real body is a new student (young) and come from a humble household… They probably didn’t have enough to eat proper food ;-; (he eats cheap nutrient solutions)
