Chapter 117: Qin Yuxing x Song Hengye’s Daily Life (Extra)
The first time Qin Yuxing met Song Hengye was during the first training session for new students.
Because he was younger and the sole heir of the Qin family, the instructors tended to go easy on him. Whenever he slacked off, they usually turned a blind eye.
It wasn’t that the instructors weren’t strict; it was just that Qin Yuxing’s physical strength didn’t quite measure up, and General Huo had even suggested he delay his enrollment since military training could be intense, especially at only sixteen.
Since he was young, Qin Yuxing had no real friends and had always been doted on by Old Master Qin, so he’d become a bit spoiled and hot-tempered, with no one in school wanting to play with him.
Every day, he managed to slack off in training and live a carefree life, thinking he’d finally achieved freedom and could enjoy military school in his own way.
However, Old Master Qin, fearing he’d slack off, had a custom tracker bracelet made for him.
Qin Yuxing wasn’t thrilled but didn’t dare resist.
Still, he thought he was clever enough to get around it. After all, he was a young genius—dealing with his grandfather couldn’t be that hard, right?
Qin Yuxing decided to find someone else to train in his place.
First, he targeted Chu Jiangting, who was in his squad and seemed to be in need of money—he looked like a solid option.
But just as he was about to approach Chu Jiangting, he noticed Song Hengye, sweaty and holding a bag of items, walk into the training area. Song handed the bag to a boy, who laughed and said, “Not bad, Song Hengye. You even managed to avoid the AI instructors and bring back the stuff for me.”
Song Hengye replied coldly, “Pay up.”
The boy hesitated, eyeing Song Hengye with some wariness, “Hey, the instructor did a headcount just now, and since you weren’t there, you’re stuck with double training time instead of losing points.”
Song Hengye frowned; instructors typically didn’t come by at that time, and it wasn’t the first time he’d done a delivery. Why was he caught this time?
With no background to speak of, Song Hengye had made it here on his own and even ranked as one of the four new squad leaders after beating everyone else in the trials.
Targeting him was inevitable.
Song Hengye stared down at the boy in front of him and repeated, “Pay up.”
The boy’s face hardened, but he eventually transferred 10,000 credits to him. Once Song Hengye saw the payment had gone through, he turned to leave without further ado.
Watching from afar, Qin Yuxing quickly tailed Song Hengye into a corner of the training grounds.
When Song Hengye entered the restroom, Qin Yuxing eagerly followed him in.
The second he walked through the door, though, Song Hengye spun around and, without hesitation, knocked him flat on his back.
Qin Yuxing sprawled out on the floor, yelping in pain.
Seeing him splayed out on the floor, Song Hengye paused. He’d never come across anyone so weak that they couldn’t even handle a basic takedown. He almost couldn’t pull his punch back in time.
Song Hengye crossed his arms, looking down at him with a cold gaze. “Why are you following me? What do you want?”
Gritting his teeth and nursing his bruised backside, Qin Yuxing glared at him, “What’s wrong with you? Attacking people out of nowhere? Are you insane?”
Song Hengye remained unfazed. “You were the one following me.”
Qin Yuxing’s stubborn streak kicked in, “Who’s following you? I just came here to use the restroom! Is this bathroom yours or something?”
Song Hengye paused for two seconds before nodding, “Alright, fair enough.”
He ignored Qin Yuxing, turning away to use the restroom. Even though he hadn’t initially needed to go, Qin Yuxing had said it, and he couldn’t back down now.
Still wincing from his bruised backside, he hobbled over.
When Song Hengye unfastened his belt, Qin Yuxing turned to look, and what he saw left him shocked.
He stared, wide-eyed, and suddenly lost his balance, slipping and hitting the ground again with a loud “thud.”
Song Hengye turned to look at him. Before he could say anything, Qin Yuxing jumped up, already defensive. “What, you think you’re so great just because you’re bigger? You just wait—I’m still growing, and who knows, I might end up even bigger than you!”
Song Hengye raised an eyebrow, silently buckled his pants, and, on his way out, couldn’t help but glance down at the front of Qin Yuxing’s pants.
Qin Yuxing felt the sting of the challenge.
He wanted to say something more, but Song Hengye ignored him, washed his hands, and left the restroom.
Frustrated, Qin Yuxing fumed. He had initially intended to ask Song Hengye to train in his place, but now they’d ended up with a grudge instead.
After Song Hengye left, Qin Yuxing limped out, only to be met with several boys who had overheard. One muttered under his breath, “Wow, so Young Master Qin’s into that, huh?”
Qin Yuxing shouted back immediately, “I’m into your grandma!”
They froze.
Because Song Hengye had left the campus grounds without permission, he was punished with double the training tasks.
The usual training was already grueling enough for new recruits to struggle through.
Now, Song Hengye had to do double that.
Very few could handle that level of intensity.
Qin Yuxing stood on the sidelines, watching the whole thing with vengeful satisfaction.
When Song Hengye ran laps with a sandbag on his back, drenched in sweat, Qin Yuxing sat nearby, sipping an iced drink and loudly exclaiming, “Ah, this drink is so cold and refreshing! Wow, it’s so delicious!”
Song Hengye didn’t even look up, focused on his running.
Qin Yuxing: “…”
Qin Yuxing tried again, this time holding a delicious, fragrant drumstick by the track. “Wow, this drumstick is so tasty! Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside—so good!”
Someone wants a bite, huh? Too bad, he’s not getting any!
But Song Hengye didn’t even spare him a glance.
Without a reaction, Qin Yuxing started feeling a little bored.
He watched as, even after everyone else had left, Song Hengye continued training diligently on his own. Actually, while the coach said it was double punishment, if Song Hengye had been a bit softer, apologized, and promised to follow the rules, the coach would’ve probably let him go to the cafeteria by now.
Meals in the cafeteria are strictly timed, and once it’s over, there’s no food. Everyone knew Song Hengye had no money to buy food.
Song Hengye finally finished training at around three in the afternoon. The afternoon courses were about to start, so he had no time to rest. He just wiped off his sweat, changed in the restroom, drank a couple of cheap nutrient packs, and went straight to class.
Qin Yuxing was completely stunned.
Despite himself, Qin Yuxing admired strength, and he couldn’t help but appreciate Song Hengye.
So, the next time he saw Song Hengye preparing to leave campus on an errand during training hours, he approached with hands on his hips, looked up, and said, “Are you out of your mind? Risking so much to run errands for them, and they’re only paying you ten thousand? Don’t make yourself so cheap.”
Song Hengye looked at the high-spirited Qin Yuxing without a word, then turned to leave the training grounds.
Completely unfazed.
Qin Yuxing, frustrated, grabbed his arm. “Don’t go! Work for me. I’ll pay you a hundred thousand a day!”
Song Hengye stopped and finally looked him in the eye. “Doing what?”
Under his serious gaze, Qin Yuxing’s face flushed. “Nothing much… Just, you know, attending classes and training as usual. Oh, but you’d need to wear this bracelet.”
He took off his bracelet. It was password-protected, and only Grandpa Qin had the code to unlock it. But Qin Yuxing was an AI genius. In less than ten minutes, he cracked it. He didn’t mess with the deeper programs, though, not wanting to trigger any alarms. He’d rather just hire someone to take his place.
A hundred thousand a day was a small fortune for Song Hengye. He needed the money badly. Coming to this place from a barren star meant he owed a lot of favors and debts. Plus, living at the Imperial Military Academy was impossible without money.
Without a second thought—afraid Qin Yuxing might change his mind—Song Hengye quickly put the bracelet on. “Deal.”
Qin Yuxing: “…”
Watching Song Hengye’s retreating figure heading toward the training ground, Qin Yuxing muttered to himself, “Why doesn’t he ask any questions? Would it kill him to say more than one word?”
Song Hengye looked back at him. “Thanks. I’ll train well.”
Qin Yuxing’s face reddened. “No need for thanks.”
*
Life did become easier for Qin Yuxing with Song Hengye standing in as his double.
Song Hengye was the ideal assistant. In addition to training, he would do just about any task if the pay was right. If Qin Yuxing wanted, he’d even carry him to class.
Qin Yuxing didn’t realize just how much he relied on Song Hengye until Song Hengye got injured on his behalf, even inhaling toxic fumes that damaged his mental state.
Qin Yuxing stayed by his side day and night, vowing to treat him better from now on.
So, when Haye’s AI assistant was confiscated by Little Bai for playing games instead of studying late into the night, Yuxing secretly pulled a backup device out of his storage terminal.
He wanted to play games late at night too, but he was too afraid of Little Bai catching him to actually try. But for Haye, he’d take the risk!
Haye had memorized Little Bai’s nightly schedule: midnight, 2 a.m., and around 4 a.m., he would check on the babies. So Haye would set the training time in his game accordingly, pretending to be asleep when Little Bai came in, then waking up for the next training session once he’d left.
Yuxing joined him on the late-night gaming sessions.
But after a while, Yuxing began to feel dissatisfied—he wanted to play games, too!
After all, it was his device in the first place. So Yuxing started trying to grab it back.
Haye was watching a video when Yuxing, with his fluffy head, leaned in and tried to shut it off to play his puzzle game.
Without looking up, Haye pushed him down and pinned him to the ground, the little lion getting thoroughly flattened.
“Can we watch something else?” Yuxing muttered, “This NPC is so ugly!”
“No ugly,” Haye said, eyes fixed on the screen. “You don’t move.”
To make sure Yuxing didn’t wriggle away, Haye added some weight.
Yuxing, feeling utterly defeated, grumbled, “You do this every night. I’m getting dark circles!”
Haye glanced down at the furry lion head and patted him gently. “Not see.” All he saw was fluff—no dark circles.
Yuxing, defeated, kicked his feet in frustration.
If not for fear of waking Little Bai, he’d have been howling in rage.
Seeing Yuxing’s frustration, Haye thought of how the little lion had hardly rested and, being so young, probably couldn’t handle staying up all night. After some hesitation, he turned off the device, deciding to halve his game time from now on so the little lion could get some proper sleep.
To prevent theft, Haye stored the device in his personal terminal and lay down, wrapping his four paws around Yuxing. “Sleep.”
If he tried to sneak out for it, Haye would be ready.
Yuxing: “…”
Resigned, Yuxing closed his eyes, and midway through the night, he hugged Haye in return, drooling all over him.
At the hospital, Song Hengye finally couldn’t take it anymore.
When Qin Yuxing came to visit, Song Hengye frowned. “Can’t you control Xing Xing? Tell him to stop sleeping on top of my tiger.”
Every morning, Haye woke up drenched in drool. Anyone would go crazy after that.
Qin Yuxing sat at the bedside, noting Song Hengye’s disgusted expression. The young master of the Qin family, being looked down upon like this? He scowled at Song Hengye. “Song Hengye, are you saying you’re disgusted with me?”
Song Hengye: “…”
Something about that sounded… off.
He replied with a sigh, “Not disgusted, just hoping the little lion can develop some good habits.”
He rarely spoke much, so this lengthy answer meant he saw Qin Yuxing as a friend. If he truly found Yuxing annoying, Xing Xing wouldn’t even be allowed on the tiger’s bed.
After all, Song Hengye had never shared a bed with anyone in his life.
