Chapter 99 – Extra (Honeymoon #2)
After marriage, Wen Yue still couldn’t help feeling a bit jealous, but he restrained himself, conscious of Gu Xingshi’s condition and making sure not to go overboard.
So, the next morning, Gu Xingshi managed to get up without too much difficulty and even handled some work. Yet, he couldn’t shake off thoughts of the unfinished drama between Lance and Eldred, so he checked in with the system: [System, what happened afterward?]
The system eagerly responded, [Host, I was just about to update you! Last night, Eldred found Lancelot again. They argued, and Eldred ended up abducting him to his estate!]
[What!?] Gu Xingshi frowned, feeling a surge of indignation. [That’s taking it way too far!]
Sure, Lancelot had hidden his gender and ghosted him without a word, which wasn’t great. But for Eldred to go as far as abducting him—that had to be illegal.
[Eldred may have detained Lance,] the system clarified, [but he hasn’t hurt him or restricted him from contacting anyone else. He’s only preventing him from leaving.]
[So why hasn’t Lancelot called the police?] Gu Xingshi asked.
[Well, Eldred’s mother was a mafia princess; local law enforcement doesn’t dare to interfere much with his family…]
[…] Gu Xingshi sighed. Times like these, he found himself missing the swift action of the law back home.
Realizing that the police wouldn’t be much help, he glanced over at Wen Yue. “Honey~”
Wen Yue’s shoulders froze.
Despite his usual open, sunny demeanor, Gu Xingshi was rarely this direct with affectionate terms. It was usually only in bed, when Wen Yue managed to coax the words out of him.
Wen Yue’s eyes drifted to Gu Xingshi’s slightly opened collar, where a faint red mark peeked out against his pale skin. His throat tightened, and his gaze darkened. “What is it?”
Having become keenly aware of Wen Yue’s gaze over the past couple of days, Gu Xingshi instinctively pulled his collar tighter. “It’s about a serious matter!”
Reluctantly, Wen Yue pulled his gaze away. “Oh?”
Gu Xingshi’s mind raced. How did this icy Wen Yue turn so smoldering after marriage?
After a moment of internal griping, he explained Lancelot’s abduction by Eldred to Wen Yue.
Wen Yue’s brows furrowed.
“You think that’s too much too, right!?” Gu Xingshi demanded.
In a measured tone, Wen Yue replied, “You just met Lancelot yesterday, and he already shared all this with you?”
“…Is that really the point?” Gu Xingshi blinked.
Despite a twinge of jealousy, Wen Yue knew he couldn’t just sit back and let Lancelot remain in this situation, given their long-standing professional relationship. After some thought, he said, “The Wen family has dealings with the Hydeweiss family. I could reach out to Eldred through those connections.”
Hearing a solution at last, Gu Xingshi clapped his hands in praise, showering Wen Yue with a stream of compliments. Wen Yue had long known that Gu Xingshi excelled at this, yet he couldn’t resist the genuine warmth in those adoring puppy-dog eyes.
Finally, with a frustrated but affectionate sigh, he gave Gu Xingshi a quick kiss. “Consider that an interest payment.”
*
Eldred Hydeweiss, as the beloved grandson of the shipping tycoon, had amassed substantial assets despite only recently graduating college.
He was tall, with the Hydeweiss family’s signature golden-brown hair, a strong nose bridge, thick brows, and piercing green eyes. From a young age, he had suffered from a severe phobia of the opposite sex. He couldn’t be alone with his own mother for more than fifteen minutes without feeling uncomfortable.
Because of this, he couldn’t interact with women and had no interest in other men either. So, even in such a liberated country, he had remained entirely inexperienced through college.
Shortly before graduation, a friend dragged him out to a bar to “broaden his horizons.”
But just as they walked in, Eldred saw a few ruffians harassing a beautiful “young woman.”
Eldred was utterly shocked.
Yet, after thanking him, the “young woman” quickly left. He didn’t even get her name, let alone her contact information.
Back home, Eldred found himself unable to forget “her.”
He returned to the bar every day, and finally, after three days, he saw that familiar figure once more.
“She” introduced herself as Lancer, a foreign exchange student.
Eldred passionately pursued Lancer, and eventually won “her” over, making “her” his girlfriend. However, his beautiful yet distant girlfriend had a low, almost manly voice, and only accepted kisses, refusing to go any further.
Eldred had heard that some religious devotees strictly reserved intimacy for marriage. Though Lancer didn’t seem like one, he respected “her” boundaries without question.
Those two weeks with Lancer were the happiest of Eldred’s life. He had already decided he would marry “her,” even beginning to plan the proposal.
But two weeks later, Lancer left him only a farewell letter and disappeared without a trace.
Eldred was devastated, unsure of what he had done wrong to drive Lancer away. Desperate for forgiveness, he discovered that all the information Lancer had given him was false.
Given his position, Eldred had dealt with many people trying to get close to him over the years. But he refused to believe that Lancer was one of those people. And even if “she” was, shouldn’t she have stayed by his side? Why leave?
So he spared no expense, hiring people to track her down.
Finally, he found his way to this small town and uncovered the truth: Lancer’s real name was Lancelot. Though he looked identical to Eldred’s “girlfriend,” he was, in fact, a man.
*
Lancelot sat on a chair by the window, still wearing that rumpled blue-purple satin shirt from yesterday, his beauty undiminished.
He propped one arm on the table, a look of irritation flashing as he glared at Eldred. “I’ve already proven I’m a man, not your girlfriend. So why did you bring me here?”
Eldred smiled slightly, his gaze firmly fixed on Lancelot. “Lancer, I never agreed to break up. Whether you’re a man or a woman, you’re my partner.”
Lancelot gritted his teeth, regretting ever agreeing to date this lunatic.
However, aside from preventing him from leaving, Eldred hadn’t mistreated him; he hadn’t even confiscated Lancelot’s phone.
Knowing Eldred’s background, Lancelot realized calling the police was futile. So he made a quick call to his sister, reassuring her that he was fine.
After that, he casually mentioned needing a computer for his design work. Eldred agreed without hesitation.
Eldred even showed him his extensive jewelry collection.
The Hydeweiss family had been maritime tycoons for generations, and Eldred possessed countless treasures. While the collection at the estate represented only a fraction of it, Lancelot was still dazzled by what he saw.
Eldred stood beside him. “Lancer, as long as you stay with me, any jewel you desire is yours.”
Lancelot rolled his eyes.
Eldred was about to say something more when his butler approached quickly, whispering a few words into his ear.
Lancelot could only catch a few scattered words but soon saw Eldred frown. “I don’t have any real connection with him. Why would he visit me?”
Though he seemed hesitant, Eldred finally turned to Lancelot and said, “Lancer, I have an important guest to attend to. I’ll be back with you shortly.”
Lancelot raised an eyebrow in surprise.
In this part of the world, was there actually someone Eldred couldn’t afford to turn away?
Initially, Lancelot thought he could seize this opportunity to slip away, but Eldred had assigned guards to watch him almost constantly. After several failed escape attempts, he had to let the idea go for the time being.
Just then, he heard a heated argument coming from the garden. The voices sounded oddly familiar.
Curious, Lancelot decided to head toward the garden.
The guards wanted to stop him, but Eldred had instructed them to allow Lancelot to roam freely within the estate grounds, so they could only follow him as he walked in the direction of the commotion.
*
Guo Xingshi arrived at Eldred’s estate with Wen Yue.
Though Eldred had received elite training from a young age, he was still somewhat naive compared to Wen Yue, who had been entrenched in the business world for years. After a bit of conversation, Wen Yue was able to put Eldred at ease, and they began talking cordially.
Taking advantage of Wen Yue’s distraction, Guo Xingshi slipped away toward where Lancelot was supposedly being kept, guided by his system’s directions.
But as he stepped into the garden, a butler intercepted him.
Feigning anger, Guo Xingshi raised his voice, arguing loudly with the butler.
Soon enough, he saw a slender figure in blue and purple approaching him from across the garden.
Guo Xingshi’s eyes lit up. “Lancelot!”
Lancelot froze in place when he saw him. “Xingshi! What are you doing here?”
Guo Xingshi quickly explained that he and Wen Yue were visiting Eldred.
Lancelot’s eyes widened in shock.
He knew Wen Yue’s status was significant but hadn’t realized that Wen Yue was one of the important guests Eldred couldn’t afford to offend.
He immediately grasped Guo Xingshi’s hand and explained how Eldred had abducted him, hoping they could persuade Eldred to let him go.
Guo Xingshi, who already knew the full story, feigned shock and indignation, exclaiming, “He’s completely out of line!”
Lancelot glanced at him, a bit skeptical. Something about his new friend’s reaction seemed just a tad over the top.
Just then, Eldred, having been informed of the situation by the butler, hurried over.
Wen Yue followed a step behind, observing the scene from Eldred’s side.
As soon as Eldred arrived, he saw Lancelot and Guo Xingshi holding hands, and his expression immediately darkened.
Feeling a sudden chill, Lancelot shivered slightly and instinctively let go of Guo Xingshi’s hand.
Eldred’s face twisted with displeasure. “Wen, what’s the meaning of this?”
Wen Yue replied calmly, “Lancelot is our friend. Your actions have been out of line.”
With newfound support, Lancelot straightened up and added, “Exactly!”
Eldred’s gaze turned pained as he looked at Lancelot. “Lancer…”
But Lancelot avoided his eyes, a bit guilty.
Guo Xingshi had initially assumed Eldred was simply forcing Lancelot, but seeing the scene now, he wasn’t entirely sure if Lancelot had no feelings for him at all.
He exchanged a glance with Wen Yue.
Wen Yue immediately understood Guo Xingshi’s thoughts and said calmly, “Eldred, if you like him, you should pursue him openly and win his heart. Locking him up isn’t showing respect for him, nor is it respecting the love between you.”
Eldred looked at him in surprise, then turned to Lancelot with a dazed expression.
The warm, smiling gaze he once had was now clouded with wariness.
“I… I understand…” he said, defeated.
With that, he ordered the guards to step aside and made no further effort to stop Lancelot.
Seeing that everything was resolved, Wen Yue held out his hand toward Guo Xingshi. “Babe, shall we go home?”
Guo Xingshi blushed slightly at the endearment in front of everyone but still walked over, placing his hand in Wen Yue’s.
Hand in hand, Wen Yue and Guo Xingshi turned to leave.
Seeing them go, Lancelot quickly followed, finally making his way out of the estate. Though Eldred looked on in agony as he left, he made no move to stop him.
Once outside, Lancelot was overwhelmed with relief and joy, thanking them profusely.
Guo Xingshi asked, “What’s your plan now?”
Lancelot hesitated, clearly a bit troubled.
Though Eldred had let him go for now, there was no guarantee he wouldn’t try to bring him back later. This was Eldred’s territory, after all, and escaping again wouldn’t be as easy.
At last, as if reaching a firm decision, Lancelot declared, “I’m planning to move to China!”
The words had barely left his mouth when he sensed the air around him grow colder. He rubbed his arms uncomfortably but continued, “I’ve heard that the law enforcement in China is really strong. Eldred won’t be able to get away with imprisoning me there.”
Guo Xingshi was thrilled at the idea.
They arranged to meet again after he arrived in China, and with a sense of urgency, Lancelot rushed off to pack his things.
After saying goodbye to Lancelot, Guo Xingshi noticed that Wen Yue seemed deep in thought, his gaze distant.
“What are you thinking about?” he couldn’t help but ask.
“Nothing much.” Wen Yue looked over, his fingers teasingly tracing circles on the back of Guo Xingshi’s hand as he said, almost nonchalantly, “Just thinking about how I’ll deal with my jealousy tonight.”
Guo Xingshi: “…”
