Chapter 98 – Extra (Honeymoon #1)
The day after the wedding, Gu Xingshi couldn’t even get out of bed. Fortunately, Wen Yue knew he had pushed a bit too far the previous night, so he didn’t pester him that morning. After breakfast, they went back to bed for a bit, and when Gu Xingshi woke up again, his usual energy had returned.
The two lingered in each other’s company for a while before taking a boat to the nearest city. Wen Yue had a property there, so they dropped off their belongings and went out to explore. The city was rich with an artistic atmosphere, with street performers playing instruments, singing, or painting on nearly every corner.
Hand in hand, Gu Xingshi strolled with Wen Yue, enjoying the lazy southern hemisphere sunshine. Ever since taking over LeShi Entertainment, he’d been unable to fully relax, as he often had to match the relentless pace set by his ambitious artists. This trip was one of the rare times he could truly unwind, especially since everyone at LeShi was trying hard not to disturb him during his honeymoon.
Wen Yue, however, was not so lucky. The massive Wen Corporation required his input on several major decisions, so even while they enjoyed coffee at a small street café, Wen Yue was soon pulled away by work obligations.
Gu Xingshi didn’t mind; he simply leaned back in his chair, sipping his coffee while watching the street scene. Just then, he noticed a luxury car pulling up along the curb. Out stepped a tall, handsome man who quickly walked toward a street artist drawing nearby.
The artist was wearing a bucket hat that concealed the upper half of his face, leaving only a slender, pale jawline and a pair of long, elegant hands exposed.
Then, the next moment, those beautiful hands were caught tightly by the man who had just arrived.
Gu Xingshi immediately sat up straight. The system, which had been laying low out of respect for his honeymoon, also reappeared in excitement: [Whoa! Host, this one’s a juicy one!]
Gu Xingshi: [Tell me everything!]
System: [The man doing the sketching is named Lancelot. He’s a half-Italian, half-Chinese renowned jewelry designer. He has this quirky habit of immersing himself in different personas to find inspiration for his work. Right now, he’s taking on the role of a down-and-out street artist as part of his creative process for a new line.]
[But here’s where it gets interesting,] the system continued, [About half a year ago, while he was designing a necklace called ‘La Traviata,’ he disguised himself in drag to blend into various bars. One night, he ran into trouble with a group of sleazy guys. Just as Lancelot was about to abandon his persona and defend himself, someone unexpectedly came to his rescue. That ‘knight in shining armor’ was none other than Eldred—the man who just grabbed his hand.]
[Eldred is the grandson of Nick Hydeweiss, the shipping tycoon. Ever since he was young, he’s suffered from a severe phobia of women. So, when he found himself drawn to Lancelot—mistaking him for a woman—he was convinced Lancelot must be his one true love and pursued him relentlessly. Lancelot, thinking it would be a fleeting fling, agreed to date him.]
[The two of them dated for half a month, until one day, inspiration struck Lancelot. Without any warning, he left behind a breakup note and vanished. When Eldred woke up to find only a letter, he was devastated. He spent the next six months searching for Lancelot…and now, he’s finally found him.]
Gu Xingshi craned his neck to watch as Eldred and Lancelot tugged back and forth, their motions growing so animated that Lancelot’s hat finally fell off, revealing dark, shoulder-length hair and a face so striking it was nearly genderless. With prominent Western bone structure complemented by delicate Eastern features, he was breathtaking.
As Eldred bent down to pick up the hat, Lancelot took advantage of the moment to hail a cab and quickly made his escape. Hat in hand, Eldred’s expression turned intense as he immediately got back into his luxury car to follow.
Watching this twist, Gu Xingshi was so invested in the drama that he itched to go after them himself. Just then, Wen Yue finished his business and returned.
Wen Yue noticed Gu Xingshi glancing eagerly toward the street outside and felt a sudden pang of guilt. Here they were on their honeymoon, yet work had kept him busy, leaving Gu Xingshi to fend off boredom alone. With this realization, he walked over and took Gu Xingshi’s hand, asking softly, “Have you been waiting long?”
Gu Xingshi snapped back to reality, his thoughts drifting from nearly chasing after the “gossip” and abandoning his husband. Feeling a bit guilty, he quickly changed the subject, “Not really… Finished with work? Is everything okay?”
Wen Yue, hearing no hint of complaint and sensing Gu’s thoughtful support instead, felt even more remorseful. Gently, he replied, “Yes, all done. Today should be clear of work. Where do you want to go next? I’m all yours.”
Gu Xingshi blinked. Though he ‘really’ wanted to keep following that juicy scandal, he knew love meant keeping such thoughts to himself. Smiling, he said, “I’m not familiar with this area, so why don’t you take the lead?”
Wen Yue thought for a moment. “I’ve already reserved a spot for lunch. And in the afternoon…” He outlined his plans before something seemed to occur to him. “Oh, right. Didn’t you mention wanting some custom jewelry? A friend of mine—an excellent jewelry designer—happens to be in town. We could visit his studio.”
“Jewelry designer?” The words lit up Gu Xingshi’s mind, still fresh from the juicy gossip, and the term “jewelry designer” felt like fate calling him back.
Wen Yue nodded. “His name is Lancelot. He’s highly regarded in the field; in fact, that orange diamond brooch I gave you was one of his designs.”
Gu Xingshi: “!!!”
System: [!!!]
This was truly fate handing him the perfect gossip! With shining eyes, Gu Xingshi replied, “Let’s head over there right after lunch!”
Wen Yue raised an eyebrow. He remembered Gu Xingshi wasn’t particularly fond of jewelry, but if he was interested now, Wen Yue was more than happy to indulge him. He quickly made arrangements with Lancelot’s assistant, confirming their afternoon visit.
Meanwhile, Gu Xingshi was captivated by the system’s live broadcast of the ongoing drama.
The system’s commentary burst with excitement: [Eldred still thinks Lancelot is in disguise and insists they’re not actually broken up… Oh my! He just tried to kiss him! Whoa, Lancelot punched him—sent him packing!]
Gu Xingshi: [!!!]
Throughout lunch, he barely focused on his food, more invested in the play-by-play updates. Wen Yue noticed and felt a twinge of unease. He knew he was reserved by nature, not particularly skilled at charming his partner. But it was only the second day after their wedding! They were still on their honeymoon!
Burying his own concerns, Wen Yue finished his meal with a calm demeanor and led Gu Xingshi to Lancelot’s studio.
The studio itself was a charming two-story building by the sea. The garden was filled with blue and purple irises that mingled with trailing roses on the windowsills, with clusters of lilies of the valley peeking through. The whole scene was like something out of a fairytale.
Gu Xingshi was visibly impressed; he hadn’t expected Lancelot’s studio to look like this.
Wen Yue held his hand as they opened the glass door. The gentle chime of glass bells rang out, and a petite young woman with striking Asian features came to greet them. She had a slight resemblance to Lancelot.
With a warm smile, she introduced herself. “Hello, I’m Tang Sizhen, Lancelot’s half-sister and assistant.”
Tang Sizhen invited them to sit, bringing out prepared black tea and delicate pastries. Smiling apologetically, she said, “Mr. Wen, Mr. Gu, I’m terribly sorry, but my brother got held up with something urgent. In the meantime, would you like me to show you some of his recent pieces?”
Wen Yue’s status as a client was extremely important to the studio, and Tang Sizhen felt uneasy about her brother’s rare delay. She didn’t know what had happened, as he was typically very punctual.
Gu Xingshi, however, knew the reason all too well. The system had kept him well-informed: Lancelot had been delayed because of Eldred’s persistence. He nodded with an understanding smile. “That’s perfectly fine.”
Tang Sizhen looked visibly relieved by his easygoing response, touched by his understanding.
Just then, the glass wind chime above the door rattled as someone burst in. Lancelot rushed in, still dressed in his artist disguise that Gu Xingshi had seen earlier. He looked a bit disheveled, with his collar slightly open and the hem of his shirt out of place.
The system filled in more details excitedly: [Lancelot finally managed to shake Eldred off by unbuttoning his shirt to prove he was a man. While Eldred was stunned, he seized the chance to run back here.]
Gu Xingshi glanced at Lancelot instinctively, noting the signs of his hurried escape. He quickly looked away, but not before Wen Yue, ever attuned to him, caught the subtle shift in his expression. Wen Yue’s own expression darkened slightly.
Lancelot offered a series of quick apologies. Gu Xingshi smiled and replied, “It’s no problem at all. We’ve just arrived ourselves.”
Lancelot exhaled, finally composed, and said, “Please forgive my appearance. I’ll be right back after I change.”
“Of course,” Gu Xingshi responded, nodding graciously.
Lancelot gave a slight bow before hurrying upstairs. Within a few minutes, he returned, freshly dressed and composed, ready to resume as the renowned designer they’d come to see.
Lancelot had changed into a satin shirt in a rich shade of violet-blue, with the collar slightly open to reveal his chiseled collarbone. A sapphire pendant hung right in the center, catching and refracting light over the delicate skin of his chest. His waist was cinched with a black, subtly embroidered belt, accentuating his narrow, elegant frame. He was like a fragile iris—ethereal yet arresting.
No wonder Eldred couldn’t believe he was a man, Gu Xingshi thought to himself, stealing a few more glances.
Sensing this, Wen Yue’s fingers clenched slightly, and his voice dropped to an icy tone. “Let’s take a look at the pieces now.”
Lancelot quickly led them to the upstairs jewelry showroom, where his recent creations were displayed in glass cases. He provided a detailed explanation, and Gu Xingshi, temporarily forgetting the juicy gossip, focused on asking him questions. While he didn’t personally care much for jewelry, he knew Wen Yue liked it, and he was eager to know more to feel closer to him.
By the time they finished, Gu Xingshi and Lancelot had fallen into a friendly exchange. No one could resist the way Gu Xingshi’s eyes lit up with praise.
They exchanged contact information, and Lancelot enthusiastically offered, “Next time you want a custom piece, feel free to reach out. I’ll give you top priority!”
“Really? That’s fantastic!” Gu Xingshi replied, genuinely delighted.
“What gemstones do you like?” Lancelot continued, “I can keep an eye out next time I’m on a collection trip…”
Wen Yue had clearly reached his limit. Standing abruptly, he cut in, “Alright, if we’re done here, let’s head back.”
Gu Xingshi gave a friendly wave. “See you, Lancelot!”
Wen Yue: “…”
Back at the house, Gu Xingshi was just about to take a shower when he was suddenly pulled into Wen Yue’s warm embrace, engulfed in a cascade of fervent kisses. Even amidst the haze of sensation, Gu Xingshi managed to protest, pressing a hand against Wen Yue’s chest, “W-we should…shower…first…” But before he could finish, Wen Yue swept him up in his arms and carried him straight into the bathroom.
What should have been a quick shower stretched out to an unhurried affair that lasted far longer than intended. By the time they emerged, night had already fallen.
Gu Xingshi ended up lying on the bed to eat his dinner, finally regaining his clarity as he realized something seemed a little off with Wen Yue tonight. “What’s gotten into you today?” he asked, noticing the unusual intensity.
Wen Yue wiped Gu Xingshi’s hands with a towel, his expression calm as he answered, “You and Lancelot seem to get along quite well?”
Gu Xingshi froze for a second before it dawned on him. Was Wen Yue… jealous?
Astonished, he looked at Wen Yue’s usual cool expression, then deliberately teased, “Well, I can’t help it; Lancelot is really handsome, after all. It’s natural to appreciate beauty.”
Wen Yue’s face darkened slightly.
But then Gu Xingshi chuckled, his eyes bright with sincerity. “Still… I already have the most beautiful person in the world in my heart.”
His gaze was so clear, so openly directed at Wen Yue, that there was no need for further explanation. It was obvious who that person was.
Instantly, any trace of jealousy evaporated from Wen Yue’s heart.
But Gu Xingshi didn’t stop there. Leaning closer, he whispered, “So… you were jealous of Lancelot?”
“From now on, don’t call him Lancelot,” Wen Yue replied, not even attempting to deny it.
Gu Xingshi raised an eyebrow in curiosity. “And what if I insist on calling him that?”
Wen Yue chuckled softly, a low, resonant sound.
In the next instant, Gu Xingshi felt the world spin around him as he was turned onto his back. Wen Yue’s body came down over him, radiating warmth that trailed from his neck to the base of his spine.
His hands were gently but firmly pinned down, his whole being enveloped in Wen Yue’s presence. A few cool strands of Wen Yue’s hair brushed against his shoulder and ear, sending a shiver down his spine, as Wen Yue leaned close and murmured in a slow, gravelly tone.
“Then, I’ll just have to stay jealous.”
The relationship between the two is really interesting, so we have to keep up the gossip ?
