Chapter 97 – Extra (Wedding)
Not long after Wen Yue’s proposal, the two were married abroad. The ceremony took place on a small private island—a piece of paradise Wen Yue had purchased well in advance for their wedding.
Their marital home was also built on the island, a three-story retreat with distinct designs on each floor. The bottom floor extended beneath the water’s surface as an underwater suite, the middle was a traditional villa, and the top was a fully transparent stargazing room.
The glass of the stargazing room was specially crafted to ensure one-way visibility, allowing those inside to see out without being seen from the outside.
The wedding itself was an intimate affair, kept simple and with only a few guests.
The most surprising guest of all was Sun Hongfei, who served as the officiant. Sun Hongfei was absolutely stunned.
Though he liked to consider himself the “romance security guard” for Wen Yue and Gu Xingshi, he had never imagined he’d be considered important enough for such an honor. Simply receiving an invitation was more than he’d expected, but being asked to officiate? No one would believe it if he told them!
But both Gu Xingshi and Wen Yue knew the truth—Sun Hongfei’s well-meaning blunders had indeed played a role in bringing them together, making him the most fitting choice for the role.
The weather on their wedding day was beautiful. The sky was a brilliant shade of blue, blending into the azure sea like a gradient painting.
The white sandy beach was adorned with fresh flowers flown in especially for the ceremony, transforming the setting into a dreamlike scene.
In his suit and tie, Sun Hongfei fidgeted with his collar, visibly nervous as he muttered to himself, hoping he wouldn’t forget his lines. The guests had already taken their seats, and the band began to play a gentle melody.
Not far off, Gu Xingshi approached, dressed in an elegant white tuxedo. The fitted suit accentuated his slender waist and long legs. Although it was the simplest of cuts, on him, it exuded an effortless nobility. The look was completed by his warm, clear eyes that could melt anyone’s heart, and a single accessory—a mandarin diamond brooch at his collar.
The brooch was the first gift Wen Yue had ever given him, so on this special day, Gu Xingshi decided to wear it. Across from him, Wen Yue was dressed in a matching white suit. Despite the same color, the aura it gave him was completely different. Where Gu Xingshi’s presence was warm, Wen Yue’s was intense, exuding a striking, almost stern elegance. His towering height, well over 190 cm, combined with his powerful presence, made the gathered guests hold their breath the moment he stepped into view.
But when Wen Yue looked at Gu Xingshi, a soft smile appeared at the corners of his lips, melting away the chill in his gaze. Like Gu Xingshi, he kept his attire simple, save for a pair of cufflinks—the very ones Gu Xingshi had gifted him.
With both Gu Xingshi’s parents having passed away, and Wen Yue’s mother gone while his father had long since formed a new family, they chose to forego certain traditional wedding customs. Instead, hand in hand, they simply walked together to the front of the ceremony platform.
Sun Hongfei, holding their vows, was so moved he could hardly keep his hands from trembling.
“Mr. Wen Yue,” he began, “do you take Mr. Gu Xingshi as your partner? Will you stand by him in times of ease or difficulty, in sickness and in health, to forever cherish and love him?”
Wen Yue replied in a deep, unwavering voice, “I do.”
Sun Hongfei then turned to Gu Xingshi with the same question.
Gu Xingshi smiled and said, “I do as well.”
Sun Hongfei let out a sigh of relief, and as he stepped back, Ruan Xiyin brought forward the rings. The two exchanged rings, slipping them gently onto each other’s fingers.
As Gu Xingshi felt the cool metal encircle his finger, a warm, steady certainty settled in his heart. He thought back to all the weddings he’d seen on television, not fully understanding why people attached so much significance to this ceremony.
Now, standing hand in hand with his love, bathed in sunlight and the gentle sea breeze, surrounded by friends and family’s well-wishes, Gu Xingshi finally understood the significance of this happiness—a confirmation of love. Just then, his system suddenly appeared.
Gu Xingshi tensed for a moment. The system’s presence often meant gossip was afoot, and while he loved a good scoop, he definitely didn’t want any drama crashing his wedding day. But to his relief, the system chirped, [Host! This isn’t gossip. I’m just here to wish you a happy wedding!]
Gu Xingshi blinked, then broke into a warm smile. [Thank you.]
Sun Hongfei’s voice rang out, “And now, the groom may kiss the groom!”
Wen Yue, seeing the joyful expression on Gu Xingshi’s face, gently held his face and placed a tender, reverent kiss on his lips.
After the ceremony, the guests cheered as they watched Wen Yue and Gu Xingshi retreat to their bridal suite. Gu Xingshi closed the door behind them, and the room fell into a quiet, peaceful hush.
The sun was setting, casting the space in a rich, golden-red glow as light poured through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The shadows of swaying trees danced against the walls, reflecting the island’s relaxed and unique charm.
But Gu Xingshi had little attention for the scenery; instead, he glanced worriedly at Wen Yue, who was seated on the sofa. Wen Yue had had a few drinks at the reception. Gu Xingshi knew his own tolerance was fine, but he also knew that Wen Yue’s capacity for alcohol wasn’t exactly the best.
“Are you okay?” Gu Xingshi asked with some concern.
With his head lowered, Wen Yue didn’t answer. Gu Xingshi reached out to check his temperature, but before he could, a warm hand firmly clasped his wrist. The heat in Wen Yue’s palm sent a jolt through Gu Xingshi’s chest.
Wen Yue finally lifted his head, his voice low and slightly hoarse. “I’m fine.”
In the dim lighting, Gu Xingshi thought he glimpsed something intense, almost restrained, in Wen Yue’s pale eyes. But then Wen Yue stood up smoothly. “Would you like to shower?”
In a moment like this, saying he wanted a shower carried an obvious implication.
Gu Xingshi couldn’t help but feel a bit shy. Though it wasn’t their first time, especially since they had moved in together after Wen Yue’s proposal, both of them had been so busy with work that these moments hadn’t come often.
Wen Yue was always gentle and restrained when it came to intimacy, in stark contrast to the imposing aura he usually projected.
But tonight was their wedding night—after all, it was different. Wen Yue had also had a few drinks, which Gu Xingshi recalled often brought out an adorably tender side.
Last time he’d had a bit too much, he’d insisted on making Gu Xingshi some hangover soup despite being unsteady himself. That gentleness, that restraint, like a beast carefully sheathing its claws—it was moving. But tonight, Gu Xingshi thought, a little less restraint wouldn’t be a bad thing.
Lost in thought, he absentmindedly started to slip out of his wedding suit. The white shirt he wore beneath was still cinched at the waist, emphasizing the slender, flexible line of his figure. As he undid his belt and headed for the bathroom, button by button came undone, gradually revealing the smooth line of his collarbone, then his chest…
The soft sound of fabric slipping against skin and falling to the floor filled the room, drifting toward Wen Yue and stirring his breath, making it come a little faster.
“Ah!” Gu Xingshi let out a small yelp.
Wen Yue’s head turned instinctively, catching sight of Gu Xingshi struggling as his shirt caught in his hair. With a bit of frustration, he worked to free himself. The setting sun bathed his pale skin in a warm orange-gold, a glow that made the faint scent of citrus in the air seem suddenly vivid.
Wen Yue’s Adam’s apple bobbed, his pulse visibly stirring at his neck. Gu Xingshi, oblivious to the dangerous tension gathering nearby, was still caught up with the stubborn shirt.
Suddenly, a shadow fell across him.
Wen Yue stretched out his hand, easily removed the decoration, and took the shirt off his body.
Gu Xingshi let out a sigh of relief: “Finally got it off, thank you…”
Before he could finish his words, he was grabbed by Wen Yue and exchanged a deep kiss.
His hot palm slowly moved down along Gu Xingshi’s back, slowly spreading the heat to his body until it landed on the lower waist, gently stroking it.
There was a soft curve there, which was Gu Xingshi’s most sensitive part.
Gu Xingshi shrank back for a moment, but pushed himself deeper into Wen Yue’s arms.
The kiss was like a violent storm, almost consuming all the air in his lungs.
Gu Xingshi’s body soften slightly, and he half leaned against Wen Yue’s arms. A trace of confusion arose in his mind. Wen Yue seemed to be the same as usual tonight….
But the next second, Wen Yue noticed his distraction and but his tongue as punishment, dragging him into a deeper vortex.
Gu Xingshi let out a short wince, but the rest of the sound was greedily swallowed by Wen Yue.
Gu Xingshi furrowed his brows and instinctively clenched his hands onto the fabric at Wen Yue’s chest.
After the kiss, his cheeks were flushed, and his lips, flushed a delicate red, glistened with a faint sheen. He leaned dazedly into Wen Yue’s arms, his usual sharp gaze softened, now filled with a dreamy look, and a hint of rosy warmth tinged the corners of his eyes.
Wen Yue’s gaze darkened.
Effortlessly, he lifted Gu Xingshi into his arms and carried him directly into the bathroom. His own clothes, now wrinkled from Gu Xingshi’s grip, were quickly discarded onto the floor without a second thought.
In contrast to Gu Xingshi’s agile, still slightly boyish figure, Wen Yue’s body was perfectly proportioned, radiating strength. His well-defined muscles were firm and smooth, sculpted like a Greek statue, flexing with each movement. The way he carried himself made this raw, masculine beauty appear almost elegantly restrained.
Gu Xingshi was fully awake now, his gaze lingering appreciatively on the sight before him. Wen Yue noticed, turning back with a light chuckle, “Enjoying the view?”
Gu Xingshi nodded honestly. “Very much.”
Wen Yue approached him, his tall figure exuding a faintly dangerous aura. It was as if a beast had shed its human facade, revealing its true nature. Unaware of this subtle shift, Gu Xingshi hooked his arms around Wen Yue’s neck, leaning in to whisper something low in his ear.
Wen Yue’s gaze darkened instantly.
His Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed, the leash on the restrained beast snapping as he loomed closer, ready to consume his tamer whole. Pressing Gu Xingshi against him, he murmured, both warning and sigh, “Then don’t even think about begging for mercy.”
The wave of intense desire crashed over Gu Xingshi, and before he could register the situation, it was already too late.
An hour later, he lay exhausted on the underwater bed, every muscle aching, barely able to lift a finger. Wen Yue helped him sit up and brought a glass of warm water to his lips. Gu Xingshi took a sip, finally feeling his energy restored, only to notice Wen Yue’s gaze lingering with renewed intent.
Wen Yue scooped him up effortlessly, his voice laced with amusement, “Shall we go up and look at the stars?”
Through gritted teeth, Gu Xingshi glared at him. “An hour ago, you said the same thing about seeing the underwater view!”
