After Spectating Gossip, the Entertainment Industry Thinks I’m a Big Shot – CH12

Chapter 12

[After Yuan Qingqing had Song Yang taken out, he was terrified, thinking she would have him beaten to death. He cried, tears and snot everywhere. But Yuan Qingqing completely ignored him and simply called the police. Local authorities quickly arrested him.]

[That coward Song Yang didn’t last long in interrogation, confessing to everything and even ratting out his manager. The manager, a sly one, knew that once this was exposed, Yuan Qingqing wouldn’t spare Song Yang. So he’d convinced Song Yang to go after Xu Yin while he secretly took the money and tried to flee the country, only to be caught at the airport.]

[Yuan Qingqing hired the best lawyer, so it won’t be long before Song Yang is sentenced to hard labor. But her revenge didn’t stop there; she also made arrangements with inmates in the prison to ensure Song Yang would be well “looked after” once he’s inside.]

After hearing the system’s update, Gu Xingshi felt a wave of satisfaction.

His mood lifted even more when he checked Meng Yuansheng and Cheng Xin’s live stream and saw that many viewers who came for the gossip had actually become their fans.

It was almost time to end the broadcast.

He put away his phone and leisurely headed toward the streaming area, only to run into Jiang Mo in the elevator, whose face was dark with anger.

Jiang Mo froze when he saw Gu Xingshi, his expression turning even uglier.

How dare this scumbag give him attitude?

Gu Xingshi, unfazed, swayed slightly, muttering cheerfully, “One million, one million, heh heh heh…”

Jiang Mo clenched his fists.

Fortunately, the elevator arrived at their floor quickly. He threw a final remark over his shoulder: “Gu Xingshi, just you wait!”

Gu Xingshi widened his eyes, feigning innocence. “You’ve got something in your teeth.”

Jiang Mo: “…!”

He instinctively covered his mouth, realizing what he was doing only too late. Furious, he stomped off, but there was nothing he could do to Gu Xingshi.

Gu Xingshi snorted.

He’d heard from Yin Hefeng that this whole early streaming idea was Jiang Mo’s plan.

Now, it seemed Jiang Mo’s scheme had backfired.

But Gu Xingshi wasn’t done with him yet for bullying his artists.

Far off, Jiang Mo shivered suddenly.

Meanwhile, Gu Xingshi had already turned his attention back to Meng Yuansheng and Cheng Xin.

The two were still buzzing with excitement.

Despite dancing continuously for two hours, they showed no sign of exhaustion.

After all, it was a live audience of one million!!

Even if the viewers hadn’t come specifically for them, so what?

As for those who scoffed and looked down on them, saying they would never accept such “insulting” treatment, they didn’t care. The opportunity was there; grabbing it was their skill. Failing to do so would be their own shortcoming, not some dishonor.

After all, if this opportunity had been offered to those same people, they’d likely swallow their words and happily embrace the “insult.”

Seeing Gu Xingshi arrive, both of them looked at him with gratitude and respect.

Gu Xingshi smiled gently and hugged each of them. “Congratulations. You both did a great job!”

Meng Yuansheng’s eyes instantly reddened.

At Jinyou Entertainment, he’d seen countless managers who looked down on trainees, taking credit for their successes. And if a trainee’s performance faltered, it was met with endless criticism and punishment.

Yet Gu Xingshi, who had done so much for them, never sought recognition. Instead, he kept encouraging and praising them.

He felt immensely grateful for having taken that courageous step to call Gu Xingshi, accepting his invitation and joining LeShi Entertainment.

Cheng Xin felt the same excitement but didn’t know how to express it, so he finally said, brimming with emotion, “Mr. Guo, I’ll take care of you in your old age!”

Guo Xingshi: “…”

He sighed and said earnestly to Cheng Xin, “Just focus on dancing from now on. Leave the speeches to Yuansheng.”

Cheng Xin looked a little disappointed. “Oh!”

With more training ahead tomorrow, Guo Xingshi didn’t keep them long and let them return to the dorms to rest.

The two tacitly avoided asking about his Weibo activity, considering it a secret of Guo Xingshi’s.

Originally, Guo Xingshi had been worried about how he’d explain things if they did ask, so he was relieved.

A few days later, a police report made headlines.

[Recently, the police in City X received a report, leading to the criminal detention of actor Song for intentional assault. His agent, Liu, suspected of incitement and cover-up, attempted to flee but was captured at the City X airport.]

The news sent shockwaves through social media.

Given the recent online buzz and details in the report, almost everyone guessed that the “Song” in question was Song Yang.

The story, which had been simmering down, suddenly erupted once again around “Gossip System #10086.”

Under various posts, countless netizens gathered to witness the spectacle.

It seemed that Song Yang’s career was indeed over.

Qiao Ruoyao hadn’t slept well for days. Emotionally, she wanted to believe in Song Yang, but rationally, she couldn’t ignore the evidence.

Things became even worse when a gossip account reported that Song Yang was detained for domestic abuse, having severely injured his girlfriend.

Domestic violence!

That was something she couldn’t tolerate at all.

She clung to a shred of hope, though. She didn’t want to believe that someone she had followed for so many years could be such a monster.

But soon, Yuan Qingqing also posted on Weibo.

She wrote that she had found her daughter but that her daughter had been traumatized, so once she finished her current project, she would withdraw from the public eye to be with her.

Faced with so much evidence, many fans left the fan groups, and some prominent fans even turned on Song Yang.

Qiao Ruoyao couldn’t continue lying to herself. She deleted all her posts defending Song Yang, apologized to “Gossip System #10086,” and donated her remaining monthly allowance to a domestic violence charity.

Afterward, she burned all the Song Yang merchandise she owned, symbolizing her complete departure from the fandom.

Still, she spent the rest of the afternoon crying in her dorm room.

Her roommates felt sorry for her and comforted her while trying to lift her spirits.

One of them put an arm around her shoulders, saying, “As the saying goes, if you move on fast enough, the scandals won’t catch up with you! No big deal! The entertainment world is full of fresh faces waiting for you!”

Qiao Ruoyao managed a smile but shook her head. “No, this whole thing hurt me too much. I don’t think I’ll be following any idols for a while…”

Just then, another roommate gasped while looking at her phone. “Oh my, he’s so handsome! Girls, I’m in love!”

Qiao Ruoyao’s ears perked up, and a second later, her roommate pulled her over.

The screen showed a stunningly attractive man who took Qiao Ruoyao’s breath away.

He had fair skin, and even up close to the camera, his face was flawless.

He seemed to have just finished some intense exercise; his cheeks were slightly flushed, a light sheen of sweat dampened his forehead, and a few strands of hair clung messily to his face.

The contrast of black and white, paired with his soft, close breaths, made Qiao Ruoyao swallow unconsciously.

But then the man stepped back slightly, giving a shy smile. “Just adjusted the camera. Does this look better?”

Comments flooded in:

[Perfect, perfect—whatever you say, wifey!]

[Yuansheng, you’re adorable! (screen’s dirty)(licks)(screams)(rolls around).]

[You all can have him as your wifey. I’ll take him as my hubby~]

Qiao Ruoyao then noticed there was another man on the screen.

He was taller, with a buzz cut, single-lidded eyes, a high nose, and thin lips, giving him a cold, wild look.

He raised his arm and wiped his brow with his sleeve, revealing a flash of toned abs as his T-shirt lifted.

More screams filled the comments.

Qiao Ruoyao found herself swallowing again.

She’d never liked the wild, intimidating type, usually preferring gentler men like the first guy. But now she realized that she only disliked ugly ones.

Now, she was in a dilemma.

Beautiful “wifey” or wild “hubby”—she couldn’t choose!

Just then, the roommate holding the phone said, “These are this year’s [Boy Group Training Camp] trainees, and they’re from the same company! This is perfect; I can vote for both!”

Qiao Ruoyao’s spirits lifted.

Why choose? Adults don’t choose! She wanted both!

She immediately leaned over. “Together! So, how does voting work? How do we make accounts? Are there any in-person events?”

Her roommates: “… Weren’t you just saying you’d quit fandoms?”

Qiao Ruoyao replied confidently, “As the saying goes, there’s plenty of grass across the meadow, and more wall-crushes is the way to go! To avoid heartbreak, I’ve decided to become a fandom queen!”

Roommates: “…”

In the live-stream stats, Meng Yuansheng and Cheng Xin soared past 1 million views, with their C-position ranking undisputed.

Contrary to expectations, there was no rivalry between them for the C-position. Instead, they quickly came to an agreement, disappointing those hoping for drama.

After recording the theme song, it was time to choose mentors.

Having already discussed this with Guo Xingshi, Meng Yuansheng and Cheng Xin firmly chose Shen Yu.

Shen Yu didn’t disappoint either, ending up as the most popular mentor choice.

In contrast, Jiang Mo received the fewest mentor selections—apart from a few of his own trainees, only one or two others chose him.

The primary reason was his suggestion to open the trainees’ live-stream rooms. His intent was to suppress Meng Yuansheng’s group, but not only did it fail, it also backfired, harming many lower-profile contestants.

Meanwhile, high-profile contestants had been warned by their managers. Knowing Jiang Mo was narrow-minded and lacked integrity as a mentor, they worried that if they joined his team, he would use them to elevate his own trainees from Jinyou.

The trainees pretended to be polite, saying Jiang Mo was so skilled that they feared holding him back. But nobody was fooled; it was clear why they avoided him.

In the end, Jiang Mo left in a huff.

Guo Xingshi observed the scene, fully understanding human nature. Suddenly, the system’s voice spoke in his ear: [Host, host! There’s fresh gossip about Shen Yu!]

Guo Xingshi: [Oh?]

System: [Shen Yu usually stays at a hotel over in Yihai, right? Well, a fan disguised themselves as hotel cleaning staff, sneaked into his room, and secretly installed a hidden camera to spy on his daily life.]

[Not only that, but when they realized they hadn’t been caught, they grew bolder and even hid inside Shen Yu’s wardrobe! They planned to ambush him while he was asleep!]

Guo Xingshi: [!!!]

Hi Panda readers~

I’ve been getting a few messages lately asking for extra chapters of novels that haven’t reached Chapter 30 yet. The reason there aren’t extra chapters for sale is that they’re not fully translated yet >.<. I’m working hard to complete the translations as I go, so please bear with me!
