Chapter 105 – Extra (If Scenarios: Superstar Wen Yue x Pamper Young Master Gu #2)
Not long after Gu Xingshi and Wen Yue established their “relationship,” it was Madame Gu’s birthday. She made it clear to Gu Xingshi over and over that he had to bring his “significant other” home to meet her.
Gu Xingshi had no choice but to invite Wen Yue.
On the day of the visit, Wen Yue dressed formally and even brought gifts.
Gu Xingshi slapped his forehead, realizing he should have prepared the gifts himself—he’d completely forgotten! Luckily, Wen Yue had thought of it.
Feeling grateful, Gu Xingshi gave Wen Yue a silent thumbs-up.
But Wen Yue extended his hand.
Gu Xingshi: “Oh, oh, you want reimbursement, right?” He immediately pulled out his phone, ready to transfer the money.
Wen Yue sighed. “I meant for you to take my hand. Aren’t we supposed to be pretending to be a couple?”
Only then did Gu Xingshi understand.
Pretending to date was one thing; actually holding hands was another.
Taking the hand of a man he barely knew just felt… strange.
Just then, a car pulled up beside them. The window rolled down to reveal Gu Xin’s face, who looked at them curiously. “What’s with the tender stare-off, lovebirds?”
Gu Xingshi: “…”
Wen Yue: “…”
In the end, Gu Xingshi couldn’t bring himself to hold hands, so he simply looped his arm through Wen Yue’s, and they walked in together.
The moment they stepped inside, all eyes turned on them.
Especially Madame Gu, who was surrounded by her sisters-in-law, each one looking at the pair with warm, affectionate smiles.
They bombarded Wen Yue with questions, while he responded with poise and patience, showing not a trace of irritation under the relentless questioning of all the “aunties.”
Meanwhile, Gu Xingshi grew increasingly embarrassed.
Finally, he found an opportunity to pull Wen Yue aside, escaping from the crowd.
Dragging Wen Yue into the greenhouse, he glanced around to make sure they were alone before breathing a sigh of relief.
“That was terrifying!!” he said, patting his chest. “Let’s just stay here until it’s time to eat!”
Wen Yue nodded.
Gu Xingshi was about to make small talk when Wen Yue’s expression suddenly changed. He leaned close to Gu Xingshi, his lips near Gu Xingshi’s ear as he whispered, “Someone’s watching us. Apologies for what I’m about to do.”
Wen Yue’s voice was low and magnetic, and as he spoke, his warm breath brushed against Gu Xingshi’s earlobe.
Gu Xingshi’s ears were his weak spot.
With that whisper, his knees almost gave out on him.
Noticing, Wen Yue instinctively wrapped an arm around his waist.
His hand was so warm that it felt like a brand pressed into Gu Xingshi’s lower back. And the warmth in front of him was equally intense.
Gu Xingshi felt like he was sandwiched between two scorching surfaces, as if he were a pancake being cooked to a crisp.
To make matters worse, the instigator seemed oblivious to it all and kept whispering softly in his ear.
Clinging to Wen Yue’s clothes was the only thing that kept Gu Xingshi from melting into a puddle.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the greenhouse, a group of figures crouched in the bushes—Gu Xin and a few others.
From their angle, it looked as if Wen Yue was cradling Gu Xingshi in his arms, the two of them locked in a close, intimate embrace.
Blushing, the group couldn’t look away.
Gu Yueqing couldn’t help but grumble in a whisper, “It’s all Big Bro’s fault for being so suspicious. They really do look like a loving couple…”
Gu Xin groaned, “Forcing all us single folks to watch this is way too cruel!”
Everyone else: “…”
*
After the birthday gathering finally wrapped up, Gu Xingshi was ready to head back to his apartment in the city. Wen Yue offered to drive him.
While sitting in the car, Gu Xingshi found himself a bit lost in thought.
Though Wen Yue had let go of him as soon as Gu Xin and the others left, the whole experience had been… intense. Even thinking about it now, he could feel his face heating up.
Still, he felt lucky that Wen Yue had such sharp instincts and solid acting skills—if Wen Yue hadn’t noticed them in time, they’d have been caught for sure. Causing a scene at his mother’s birthday would have left her distressed for an entire year.
Gu Xingshi covered his face, starting to wonder if he’d made this whole arrangement a bit too hastily.
At that moment, the car came to a stop.
He thanked Wen Yue and was about to get out.
But just then…
Wen Yue suddenly leaned closer.
Startled, Gu Xingshi jerked back, pressing his body hard against the seat—only to realize a second later that Wen Yue was merely undoing his seatbelt.
Feeling embarrassed at his overreaction, Gu Xingshi flushed.
Wen Yue withdrew his hand, his fingertips accidentally grazing Gu Xingshi’s thigh. His eyes darkened for a brief moment, but he kept his expression neutral as he said, “Since we’re pretending to be a couple, you’ll need to get used to this kind of thing.”
Gu Xingshi rubbed his cheek, looking troubled. “I know, but… I’m not an actor. I can’t just act natural on the spot…”
Wen Yue replied, “Even actors aren’t natural at first—it all takes practice.”
“Really?”
Wen Yue nodded, then hesitated before adding, “I have some free time coming up. I could help you practice if you’d like.”
Gu Xingshi looked up at him skeptically. But Wen Yue’s gaze was earnest, his expression open, as if he were only thinking of how to help him.
Once again, Gu Xingshi felt guilty for doubting Wen Yue’s intentions. Wen Yue, however, brushed it off graciously. “It’s no big deal. Like you said, it’s mutually beneficial.”
Mutually beneficial? Gu Xingshi was puzzled, but he still agreed.
The next morning, as Gu Xingshi was just waking up, he heard the doorbell ring.
Gu Xingshi lived alone in his city apartment, with a housekeeper coming by daily to prepare lunch and dinner and do some light cleaning.
He was a bit puzzled—why would the housekeeper be here so early? But when he opened the door, he was shocked to find Wen Yue standing there.
Wen Yue raised his hand, showing the breakfast he had brought. “No rush. Let’s eat first.”
In his half-awake daze, Gu Xingshi allowed Wen Yue into the apartment.
After they finished eating, Wen Yue tidied up the table.
Watching Wen Yue’s back, Gu Xingshi’s toes curled involuntarily as he thought about their conversation from yesterday.
Then Wen Yue walked over to him. “Shall we start?”
“Huh?” Gu Xingshi tensed. “Right… right now?”
“Time is precious.” Wen Yue paused, reading the tension in his expression, and added understandingly, “Or you can take a moment to get yourself mentally ready. I can wait.”
Gu Xingshi thought about it; he had been the one to propose this “fake arrangement.” Wen Yue was just being professional, even offering up extra time to help him get into character. How could he waste his time?
Enough, he thought. In for a penny, in for a pound.
He steeled himself. “No need. Let’s start now.”
Wen Yue noticed the slight tremble of Gu Xingshi’s lashes, a faint smile appearing on his lips.
He reached out, took Gu Xingshi’s hand in his own, and felt his initial resistance. With a gentle but firm grip, Wen Yue enclosed his whole hand in his palm and said in a coaxing tone, “Since we’re pretending to be a couple, holding hands is the most basic part. If I try to hold your hand and you pull away, anyone would see through it right away.”
Hearing this, Gu Xingshi reluctantly stopped resisting.
The room fell into a quiet stillness.
Time seemed to slow down.
Gu Xingshi could feel every line in Wen Yue’s palm and the faint warmth radiating from it. The heat seemed to travel through his fingertips, all the way to his heart.
This thought made him feel unexpectedly uneasy.
Just as he hesitated over whether to call it off, Wen Yue let go of his hand.
The warmth vanished abruptly, and Gu Xingshi awkwardly clenched his hand, as if trying to recapture the sensation.
Wen Yue reassured him gently, “We’ll take it slow; there’s no rush.”
Gu Xingshi breathed a sigh of relief, but then Wen Yue’s next words made him tense up again.
“Let’s try hugging next.”
Wen Yue opened his arms, but he didn’t press Gu Xingshi to move.
After steeling himself, Gu Xingshi took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and stepped forward into the embrace.
He was a head shorter than Wen Yue, so his face naturally came to rest against Wen Yue’s chest.
Wen Yue had removed his jacket while clearing the table, so he was only wearing a thin shirt. The warmth radiating through the fabric instantly made Gu Xingshi’s face flush.
Wen Yue’s arms wrapped around his waist. Gu Xingshi could feel the firm muscles, as if they were holding something in check.
Wen Yue held him carefully, as if afraid to apply any pressure.
A faint citrus scent wafted around them, tickling Wen Yue’s nose.
Gu Xingshi’s hair was soft as it brushed Wen Yue’s chest and neck, and his waist was just as soft. Wen Yue didn’t dare to tighten his arms around him, as though even the slightest squeeze might crush him.
Gu Xingshi could feel his own heartbeat quicken as the air grew noticeably warmer.
Then, a sudden ring of the doorbell shattered the atmosphere.
Gu Xingshi jolted, instinctively pushing Wen Yue away.
Wen Yue watched him, noticing his head lowered, the tips of his ears peeking out from under his hair—already a deep red.
Unable to hold back a smile, Wen Yue reached out and patted Gu Xingshi’s head. “Class dismissed. I’ll go get the door.”
After Wen Yue stepped away, Gu Xingshi lifted his head and fanned his face furiously with his hand. Still feeling hot and parched, he grabbed his water glass and took a sip, only to find the water was warm, scorching his lips and tongue.
Meanwhile, Wen Yue opened the door to find Gu Xingshi’s eldest brother, Gu Yuansheng, standing outside.
Gu Yuansheng bore the family’s signature refined looks, though his demeanor was cold and shrewd. With his frameless glasses, he exuded the sharp competence of someone accustomed to authority—he was the hardest in the family to fool.
When Gu Yuansheng saw Wen Yue, his brow furrowed reflexively.
Unlike some of his siblings who traveled constantly, he spent much of his time in the country and knew Gu Xingshi best.
While Gu Xin and the others’ analysis had made sense, Gu Yuansheng still found something fishy about the situation.
So, he had decided to drop in and see his brother himself.
It was an unannounced visit. Who could have guessed Wen Yue would be in Gu Xingshi’s apartment? And this early in the morning—had he spent the night here?
Gu Yuansheng began to doubt his own conclusions.
At that moment, Gu Xingshi shuffled over as well, his voice slightly garbled from his scalded tongue. “Who is it?”
Wen Yue stepped aside.
Seeing his older brother, Gu Xingshi immediately felt a pang of guilt. After all, Gu Yuansheng was the most observant of them all and the most likely to spot any slip-ups.
He quickly looked at Wen Yue for guidance.
Wen Yue, however, smoothly wrapped an arm around his shoulders. “Let’s invite Big Bro inside first.”
Wen Yue only loosely held Gu Xingshi’s shoulder for a moment before quickly letting go, yet his gaze gave Gu Xingshi a subtle cue.
Following Wen Yue’s lead, Gu Xingshi’s instincts kicked in. He reached out, took Wen Yue’s hand, and threaded his fingers through Wen Yue’s, their hands clasped tightly together.
Wen Yue felt the soft warmth of Gu Xingshi’s hand and froze for a second.
He had only meant for Gu Xingshi to play along a little, but this unexpectedly bold move left him pleasantly surprised.
So, he held Gu Xingshi’s hand casually and walked inside with Gu Yuansheng.
Yuansheng had already noticed Gu Xingshi’s quick glance at Wen Yue. He realized that it wasn’t a conscious act but a reflexive one.
Seeing his younger brother’s trust in Wen Yue left him with mixed feelings.
Then his eyes fell on Gu Xingshi’s slightly swollen lips and the vague slur in his speech. He couldn’t help but ask, “Xing, what happened to your lips and tongue?”
Gu Xingshi flushed with embarrassment, remembering that he, a grown man, had scalded himself with hot water. “It’s… nothing, Big Bro, don’t worry about it.”
Yuansheng’s heart sank.
If Gu Xingshi was hiding it so nervously, and considering the places injured—his lips and tongue—could it be anything else?
Of course, they must have been swollen from Wen Yue’s kisses, with his tongue bitten in the process! They were probably making out before he knocked on the door!
A surge of both pride and bittersweetness filled Yuansheng’s heart.
He was glad to see his little brother growing up at last. Yet, it stung to think that his “precious cabbage” had indeed been uprooted.
Having confirmed that the two were genuinely in a relationship, Yuansheng didn’t linger much longer, giving them a few reminders before taking his leave.
As soon as he left, Wen Yue turned to look at Gu Xingshi’s lips. “So, what really happened?”
Feeling no need to hide it from his “partner,” Gu Xingshi recounted the entire story.
Wen Yue: “…”
Gu Xingshi sighed, looking dejected. “You can laugh if you want. Anyway, I—ouch!” He winced, accidentally prodding the sore spot on his tongue, his face twisting with pain.
Wen Yue sighed and gently lifted Gu Xingshi’s chin. “Open your mouth.”
Gu Xingshi hesitated but eventually stuck out his tongue.
The soft, pink tip of his tongue poked out shyly, pressing against his slightly flushed lips.
Wen Yue’s Adam’s apple moved slightly.
But when he saw the two blisters on the tip of Gu Xingshi’s tongue, any stray thoughts he had vanished immediately. He fetched a cotton swab and carefully applied ointment to the injury.
When he finished, Gu Xingshi shut his mouth with a pained expression.
Wen Yue found himself both amused and exasperated, but he simply ruffled Gu Xingshi’s hair in the end. “I was going to take you out for something delicious for lunch, but with your tongue hurt, we’ll have to save that for next time. I’ll cook you something light for now.”
Gu Xingshi immediately mumbled in protest.
Wen Yue pinched his chin, feigning a threat. “Keep fussing, and I might just kiss you.”
Gu Xingshi’s eyes widened instantly, looking like a startled squirrel.
Their gazes locked, and the playful atmosphere suddenly fell silent.
Slowly, Wen Yue leaned in.
Gu Xingshi closed his eyes.
A kiss, light as a butterfly’s wing, landed at the corner of his lips.
The breeze from outside drifted in, catching the sheer white curtains and lifting them, causing them to billow and dance in the air.
Since that day, something seemed to subtly change between them. Their “fake relationship” started to feel like it was heading in a more genuine direction.
As they spent more time together, Wen Yue grew increasingly familiar with Gu Xingshi’s likes, dislikes, and habits.
He knew Gu Xingshi had a sweet tooth and disliked cilantro. He knew he preferred cold drinks and couldn’t stand milk. He knew Gu Xingshi’s birthday, zodiac sign, blood type, MBTI, favorite movies, favorite sports…
With each new detail he learned, Wen Yue found himself caring for him even more deeply.
But he also knew that Gu Xingshi had a strong aversion to deceit.
At first, he hadn’t thought his own background mattered much. Now, however, it had become a ticking time bomb between them.
Once Wen Yue realized this, he wanted to come clean. But, inconveniently, the release of his new movie meant his schedule was packed, leaving him with no time to explain.
This wasn’t something he could handle with a simple text or call.
By the time he finally freed up enough to find Gu Xingshi, he was shut out entirely.
It turned out that Gu Xingshi had already discovered his true identity.
Gu Xingshi had always believed that Wen Yue was a struggling actor with no connections, relying solely on his own hard work.
So, after he’d fallen for him, he’d started planning their future together. But now he found out that Wen Yue had been deceiving him from the very beginning.
For the first time in his life, Gu Xingshi had developed real feelings for someone, eagerly looking forward to what could be, only to realize that Wen Yue had been lying to him all along.
The more he thought about it, the angrier and more wronged he felt.
He couldn’t bear to see him.
But Wen Yue didn’t give up. He went to great lengths to try to meet him, even humbling himself to all kinds of lengths.
Over time, Gu Xingshi couldn’t help but soften a bit, though he still felt somewhat aggrieved and wasn’t ready to forgive.
Then his birthday rolled around, and somehow, Wen Yue ended up invited to the gathering.
When Gu Xingshi saw him, he frowned. He hadn’t paid attention to Wen Yue lately, so he hadn’t noticed how much weight he’d lost. Part of him wanted to ask if he was okay, but he couldn’t bring himself to break the ice.
From the moment Wen Yue arrived, his gaze didn’t stray from Gu Xingshi.
Since their fallout, he had hardly seen him.
They used to hold hands, hug, kiss… These everyday gestures of affection had been suddenly stripped from his life, leaving him surprisingly unsettled.
In the quiet moments outside of work, his thoughts inevitably drifted to Gu Xingshi.
Yet even though he wanted to be close to him, Wen Yue knew that Gu Xingshi was still upset. He could only suppress his urge to reach out, steadying his voice as he greeted him.
Gu Xingshi responded coolly, but seeing the disappointment in Wen Yue’s eyes made his own heart twinge painfully.
Maybe due to his distraction, Gu Xingshi inevitably lost a round when they started playing Truth or Dare.
Not interested in the silly dares, he simply picked up a drink, intending to down it as his forfeit.
To his surprise, Wen Yue stepped forward. “I’ll drink for him.”
Gu Xingshi looked at him, stunned.
They both knew the truth: despite his mild appearance, Gu Xingshi could hold his liquor quite well, whereas Wen Yue couldn’t drink at all—he was a notorious lightweight.
Moreover, the drink in Gu Xingshi’s hand was quite strong.
Yet Wen Yue took it without hesitation, tilting it back and downing it in one go.
For the rest of the game, whenever Gu Xingshi lost, Wen Yue silently took his drinks for him.
Finally, Gu Xingshi couldn’t stand it any longer. “Alright, that’s enough. Let’s call it a night.”
With the birthday boy’s word, the others took their leave. Soon, only Gu Xingshi and Wen Yue were left in the room.
Wen Yue sat on the couch, looking okay, but his gaze had grown a bit unfocused.
Gu Xingshi couldn’t help but mutter, “You, you… If you can’t drink, then don’t. Who’s this act of self-sacrifice supposed to impress?”
Wen Yue raised his head, chuckling softly. “Why, for you, of course.”
Gu Xingshi: “You!”
Who actually admitted to putting on an act like this?
Wen Yue wrapped his arm around Gu Xingshi’s waist, resting his head against Gu Xingshi’s abdomen. The familiar scent of citrus lingered at his nose, and he felt an unexpected urge to cry.
In a soft, raspy voice, he murmured, “I promised you I’d never deceive you or play games with you.”
Gu Xingshi froze.
Feeling the restrained, burning warmth of Wen Yue’s embrace and the quiet plea in his voice, Gu Xingshi’s heart softened once again.
He patted Wen Yue’s shoulder, intending to gently push him away.
But he quickly realized that Wen Yue’s eyes were tightly closed—he’d actually passed out, dead drunk.
Gu Xingshi: “…”
So this was the real “act of self-sacrifice,” wasn’t it?
Yet, despite everything, he couldn’t stay angry at him.
With some effort, he managed to help Wen Yue to his room and lay him on the bed. He was just about to leave when Wen Yue, sensing his presence, pulled him into his embrace.
Gu Xingshi found himself tightly held, unable to break free no matter how he pushed or nudged. Reasoning with this drunken man was futile, so he had no choice but to stay like that, eventually falling asleep in Wen Yue’s arms.
The next morning, Gu Xingshi opened his eyes, only to find Wen Yue’s side of the bed empty.
A strange sense of disappointment welled up in him.
But then the door opened, and Wen Yue walked back in, his skin still damp from a shower.
Seeing Gu Xingshi looking around for him, Wen Yue’s expression brightened.
Feeling slightly embarrassed, Gu Xingshi huffed, “Don’t get cocky—I still haven’t forgiven you yet.”
Wen Yue chuckled. “I know. For now, I’m just your ‘kept’ little celebrity.”
Gu Xingshi almost choked on his own spit. “What?”
Wen Yue repeated the line.
A mischievous spark lit in Gu Xingshi’s eyes. “Oh, really?”
Wen Yue: “Really.”
Gu Xingshi raised an eyebrow. “Then, as my ‘kept man,’ what should you be doing?”
A glint flashed in Wen Yue’s eyes, and he moved in front of Gu Xingshi, dropping to one knee beside the bed.
Under Gu Xingshi’s watchful gaze, he slowly unbuttoned the top two buttons of his shirt, then guided Gu Xingshi’s hand inside, sliding it down his chest.
Gu Xingshi: “!”
Wen Yue’s Adam’s apple bobbed as he spoke in a low, husky voice. “Are you satisfied, sir?”
Gu Xingshi barely maintained his composure. “Is…is this all?”
A satisfied smile appeared on Wen Yue’s face. “Of course not.”
…
An hour later.
Gu Xingshi lay sprawled limply on the bed, his skin flushed a light pink.
Wen Yue was gently wiping him down with a towel.
The warm cloth passed over the marks on Gu Xingshi’s skin, making him shiver slightly.
Wen Yue leaned in with a teasing tone. “Did I serve you well, my esteemed benefactor?”
Benefactor? Since when was any benefactor worked this hard?
Irritated, Gu Xingshi kicked at him, but Wen Yue caught his ankle.
“If you’re not too tired, sir, we could go for another round…”
Gu Xingshi: “!!”
Who treats their ‘benefactor’ like this?!
Wen Yue, you insufferable liar!!
