After Spectating Gossip, the Entertainment Industry Thinks I’m a Big Shot – CH103

Extra (Romance Reality Show #3)

Chapter 103 – Extra (Romance Reality Show #3)

The production team hadn’t anticipated that their carefully crafted questions would be so easily solved by the two of them. How were they supposed to handle tomorrow’s challenges now?

Unwilling to accept defeat, they reminded Gu Xingshi, “President Gu, you still have one more photo left to identify!”

Surely, he’d get at least one wrong to keep the show entertaining, right?

Besides, this last one was designed to be particularly difficult—it was the production team’s masterpiece.

Sure enough, Gu Xingshi found himself stumped.

He looked over the photos several times, but there were still three or four that he couldn’t be sure of.

In the end, he gave up on being too careful. They already had a high score, and one mistake wouldn’t hurt. So, he just picked a random image.

“Fourth row, fourth column.”

The production team: “!!!”

The staff exchanged stunned looks, but finally had to announce, “Correct.”

Gu Xingshi was delighted, unable to hide his excitement.

The production team couldn’t help but ask, “President Gu, how did you figure out that was President Wen’s mouth?”

Gu Xingshi: “Huh? It was all blurry… That was his mouth?”

Production team: “…”

So, you didn’t even recognize it, and yet, somehow, you guessed it right?!

Gu Xingshi coughed lightly. “I, uh… guessed randomly.”

The production team: !!! Randomly?!

Comment:

[Hahahaha, President Gu! The production team’s kryptonite!]

[Even his guesses are correct. How is this not true love?]

[And President Wen must be thrilled once again!]

Meanwhile…

In the observation room, Cheng Xin pumped his fist. “President Gu, well done!!”

A nearby guest teasingly asked, “A Xin, why not compliment President Wen too?”

Cheng Xin’s face instantly cooled, and he pursed his lips. “President Wen… eh, he’s just okay.”

Guest: “…”

Comment:

[Pfft! Cheng Xin’s character stays solid!]

[He’s got the ultimate face-changing technique! Brother Xin is so versatile, hahaha.]

[With President Gu, it’s pure admiration; with President Wen, it’s pure disdain. No lies detected, lol.]

When the production team confirmed that Wen Yue and Gu Xingshi had answered every question correctly, they displayed the original images of each zoomed-in shot.

Many viewers only understood once they saw the original pictures.

But when they got to the last image Gu Xingshi had guessed correctly, he almost spit out a mouthful of water.

It turned out it was a paparazzi photo of him and Wen Yue kissing. The production team had somehow managed to zoom in on just Wen Yue’s lips with uncanny precision.

The comment section erupted in laughter.

Comment:

[So THAT’S where the lips were from! Production team, hats off to you!]

[Why so conservative, though? Why not zoom in on both their lips?]

Gu Xingshi: “…”

The two had completed their task far too quickly. The other couples hadn’t even finished halfway.

The production team hadn’t expected this and had prepared multiple clues, planning for the two to complete mini-challenges to unlock them—but none of it was necessary. How were they suddenly so in sync when they’d never been this coordinated in previous recordings?!

Since there was nothing else prepared, the two of them decided to interact with the viewers through the screen.

Because of their busy schedules, the two rarely appeared on screen, let alone together with the audience in this way. And with only a single episode on their schedule due to time constraints, this was even more precious for the fans.

So, the comment section burst into a flurry of activity, with Gu Xingshi barely able to keep up. He took screenshots and began answering questions.

Reading from the comments, he said, “Viewer ‘Peace and Prosperity’ asks: ‘President Gu, I’m a big fan! Wishing you and President Wen a lifetime of happiness together.’ Thank you, thank you, and thank you for your kind blessings.”

Comment:

[Hahaha, wow, brave sister! President Gu, I’m a daughter-fan too!!]

[Daughter-fan +1, nothing more to say—wishing our ‘Mom and Dad’ a hundred years of happiness!]

[Wishing our ‘Mom and Dad’ a lifetime of happiness!]

Gu Xingshi caught sight of the comments and nearly choked.

He immediately handed the next question off to Wen Yue.

Wen Yue casually paused the screen, but his expression turned dark as soon as he saw it.

The camera zoomed in on the screen, revealing the user ID of the commenter: “President Gu, My Fated Wife.”

Comment:

[Hahahahaha!!]

[Who’s bold enough to dance right in front of the main characters? Aren’t they afraid President Wen will hunt them down, hahaha!]

[President Wen is jealous! I repeat, he is jealous!]

Wen Yue closed the comment with a cold tone. “Next!”

They paused again, but this time, both fell silent.

The camera zoomed in again, capturing the next ID: “Please, President Gu and President Wen, Do It On My Bed.”

Comment:

[Well played!]

[These CP fans are wild, hahaha!]

[President Gu, President Wen, why aren’t you reading these aloud?]

Finally, when the livestream ended, Gu Xingshi let out a huge sigh of relief, wiping the sweat from his forehead.

These netizens were really getting a bit too bold for him to handle.

Thank goodness he’d only signed on for one episode.

*

The next morning, Gu Xingshi woke up and instinctively rolled toward Wen Yue’s embrace. Halfway there, he remembered they were on a show and froze.

But Wen Yue, still half-asleep, naturally pulled him close and placed a kiss on his forehead.

Gu Xingshi: “!!!”

He immediately opened his eyes wide and checked the room’s cameras. Seeing that they were still covered up from last night, he finally exhaled in relief.

Wen Yue, feeling the tension in Gu Xingshi’s body, slowly opened his eyes, his voice still rough with sleep. “What’s wrong?”

Gu Xingshi whispered, “We’re filming…”

After saying that, he scrambled out of bed and headed for the bathroom to change.

Watching him go, Wen Yue couldn’t help rubbing his forehead. The thought of spending two more nights in close quarters yet not being able to do anything was starting to make him regret their decision.

Once they finished getting ready, they headed to the filming location.

The other couples arrived gradually, and after yesterday’s interactions, everyone had become a bit more familiar.

Fang Yue couldn’t help but ask Gu Xingshi, “President Gu, I heard you two scored a perfect score on last night’s challenge?”

As soon as she spoke, the others turned to look as well.

Last night’s task had worn everyone out. No one had scored very high, so they were all shocked to hear that someone had gotten a perfect score!

Gu Xingshi nodded.

Fang Yue took a sharp breath. As one of the last pairs to meet up yesterday, she and her partner had missed out on choosing that specific task, though they’d seen the challenge that Gu Xingshi and Wen Yue took on. Her gaze began to sparkle with intrigue.

Seeing her expression, Gu Xingshi immediately realized the misunderstanding and quickly clarified, “It wasn’t what you all think…”

Everyone looked disappointed.

Gu Xingshi: “…”

What is wrong with you guys?!

Fang Yue then found a recording of their challenge from the previous night. After watching it, she couldn’t help but exclaim, “What kind of devil’s challenge was that?!”

The other couples, who’d initially thought the task looked simple and even felt a bit regretful, were equally shocked after watching it. “You could even recognize that? You two really are fated soulmates!”

Gu Xingshi: “…”

Wen Yue: “…”

Thankfully, the director soon arrived to announce the day’s challenge.

“Today, we’re taking everyone to an amusement park! We’ve selected four rides for you: a roller coaster, a Ferris wheel, a carousel, and a haunted house—all perfectly suited for couples!”

The group: “…”

The production team continued, “Each of the attractions corresponds to a specific challenge. To earn tonight’s romantic dinner for two, you must complete the challenge. Otherwise, you’ll be joining us for a boxed meal.”

“Your points from last night can be used to redeem clues.”

With that, they laid out a chart showing the points-to-clues exchange.

Gu Xingshi did a quick calculation and said, “Looks like we have enough points to redeem all the clues!”

The production team: “…”

Comment:

[Hahaha, President Gu, why are you so brutally honest?!]

[Tsk tsk, look at President Wen’s proud face.]

[President Wen, could you at least glance at the camera? Or are we unworthy of seeing your full face now that your wife is here?]

The production team was annoyed but couldn’t go against the rules, so they reluctantly agreed.

Next, all four pairs drew lots to determine their attraction for the day.

As fate would have it, Gu Xingshi and Wen Yue drew the haunted house.

Noticing Gu Xingshi’s slight frown, Wen Yue asked, “What’s wrong?”

Gu Xingshi looked at him, hesitating. “Are you… afraid of ghosts?”

Wen Yue froze for a moment.

He was about to ask when he’d ever been afraid of ghosts, but then remembered the premiere of a ghost series, when he had pretended to be scared just to get Gu Xingshi to hug him. But instead of a hug, all he’d gotten was a talisman.

Gu Xingshi took his hesitation as a confirmation and, squeezing his hand, said, “If a ghost jumps out, you can just hide behind me.”

Wen Yue looked at his concerned expression and swallowed his words of protest. “…Okay.”

The netizens were dumbfounded.

Comment:

[Wait, is President Wen really afraid of ghosts? Didn’t see that coming!]

[This is… unexpectedly cute…]

Only Cheng Xin couldn’t help muttering, “Bet he’s just pretending to be scared so he can take advantage of our President Gu…”

Gu Xingshi redeemed some clues with their points, and the two headed toward the haunted house.

According to their mission, they needed to find four colored treasure chests inside. The pieces in each chest would form a puzzle, which would lead to their romantic dinner voucher.

The haunted house had been revamped by the production team, switching to night-vision cameras as soon as they entered.

Gu Xingshi held Wen Yue’s hand and walked forward as if they were out for a casual stroll, completely unfazed.

Before long, they found one of the treasure chests beneath a hanging corpse prop near the entrance.

With the puzzle piece in hand, they continued deeper inside. Along the way, various “ghosts” kept jumping out to scare them, but Gu Xingshi remained calm, casually brushing past each one.

After a while, however, something started to feel off.

The sound of Wen Yue’s breathing and footsteps was… a little too steady. The last ghost that had jumped out had been incredibly lifelike, and even he’d nearly been startled. Yet, Wen Yue had shown no reaction whatsoever.

Unable to hold back, Gu Xingshi turned around.

In the pitch-black haunted house, he couldn’t make out Wen Yue’s expression.

Sensing Gu Xingshi had stopped, Wen Yue asked, “What is it?”

“Are you… actually scared?” Gu Xingshi asked.

After a pause, Wen Yue replied, “…Yes.”

Gu Xingshi: “…”

Wen Yue’s voice was as calm as ever, and Gu Xingshi could only guess he was holding onto his “CEO dignity.”

“So… do you want to hide behind me a bit more?” he offered.

Wen Yue, though he couldn’t see Gu Xingshi’s face clearly, could still sense his reassuring presence in front of him. The warmth in his heart grew unexpectedly soft.

He reached out, pulling Gu Xingshi against his chest. “This is better.”

As Gu Xingshi felt the warmth of Wen Yue’s chest against his back, a trace of suspicion crossed his mind.

But just then, Wen Yue pointed and said, “Look over there—is that another treasure chest?”

Gu Xingshi’s attention shifted, and he moved to open the chest while still in Wen Yue’s embrace.

Meanwhile, the viewers, seeing everything from the “god’s-eye” camera angle, quickly picked up on the odd dynamics.

Comment:

[???]

[Wait, is this what being scared of ghosts looks like for President Wen?!]

[Tsk tsk, President Wen, didn’t know you were like this!]

[Don’t ask—just call it married couple antics!]

In the observation room, Cheng Xin was fuming, practically jumping up and down. “Wen Yue, you sneaky—!!!”

Meanwhile, Gu Xingshi and Wen Yue had already retrieved the second and third treasure chests, leaving only the final one in the very center of the haunted house.

By now, Gu Xingshi was familiar with all the scare tactics in the haunted house, and he strode forward confidently, unfazed by any of the setups.

Just then, a figure suddenly leaned out of a window in the wall and reached for them, shouting as it lunged.

Wen Yue’s eyes flashed, and he instinctively pushed Gu Xingshi behind him, shielding him.

After delivering the scare, the NPC quickly ducked back.

The room fell silent.

Gu Xingshi had indeed been startled for a moment, but with Wen Yue protecting him, he quickly regained his composure.

Realizing something was amiss, he looked at Wen Yue and asked, “You…?”

Wen Yue coughed lightly. “I was worried you might get hurt, so I… forgot to be scared.”

Gu Xingshi: “…”

Comment:

[President Wen, you are TOO smooth!!]

[Keep piling on the dog food! We love it!]

[Is this the reason President Wen has a partner, and I don’t? [sigh]]

Gu Xingshi seemed to have figured out what was going on but chose not to call him out. Instead, he jabbed Wen Yue in the side.

Wen Yue let out a subtle sigh of relief and clasped his hand again.

The two continued without further incidents, finally reaching the center of the haunted house and collecting the last treasure chest. After completing the puzzle, they exited.

Gu Xingshi looked mildly irritated, just as Wen Yue was about to explain.

Coincidentally, Fang Yue and Song Qian Yu returned, visibly displeased. After Song Qian Yu muttered something, Fang Yue immediately flared up, and the two began bickering right there.

Gu Xingshi’s attention was instantly diverted, abandoning Wen Yue without hesitation.

Wen Yue: “…”

Comment:

[Hahahahaha!!!]

[As expected, the only thing that can truly distract Wen and Gu is some juicy drama!]

[With President Wen’s seasoned expression, it’s obvious this isn’t the first time this has happened.]

Fortunately, Fang Yue and Song Qian Yu soon realized they were on camera and stopped arguing.

Gu Xingshi, slightly disappointed, refocused on Wen Yue, having completely forgotten his earlier irritation, and whispered bits of gossip into his ear.

Wen Yue let out a subtle sigh of relief.

After enjoying the romantic dinner prepared by the production team and saying goodbye to their fans on screen, the two finally headed back to their car.

Wen Yue hadn’t called for a driver; instead, he drove them himself, taking Gu Xingshi to a secluded mountaintop villa he’d prepared, perfect for stargazing.

He’d recreated the honeymoon villa’s open-sky room, complete with a high-quality telescope for stargazing.

The sudden romance left Gu Xingshi pleasantly surprised.

But as he remembered how Wen Yue had tricked him about being afraid of ghosts, he playfully poked Wen Yue in the chest. “Don’t think this gesture will make me forget about your little deception. Spill it—why did you lie back then?”

Wen Yue, holding his finger, replied with a smile, “Of course, I just hoped you’d hold me. Who would’ve thought you’d be so unromantic?”

Gu Xingshi: “…!”

“So you had a crush on me way back then!”

Wen Yue sighed, deciding that actions would do a better job of silencing that “unromantic” mouth.

In the end, Gu Xingshi didn’t escape a night of “stargazing.”

Over and over again, they “observed the stars” until Gu Xingshi’s voice was hoarse, and tears shimmered at the corners of his reddened eyes, finally slipping down his face.

Remembering something, Wen Yue, his voice low and raspy, whispered in his ear, “Tonight, my sweet little orange…”

Gu Xingshi’s face immediately turned crimson. “!!!”

Wen Yue couldn’t help but laugh softly, his chest vibrating as he bent down to kiss Gu Xingshi’s cheek.

He thought to himself that perhaps they should record more of these shows in the future.
